    PUB TRIVIA NIGHTS ON THURSDAYS!!!

Okay so I am a sucker for pub trivia so any place that has that is a winner in my eyes hands down. But honestly their beer here is all really good and very well made.

Food wise, can you say GARLIC FRIES??? You have to get these especially on trivia night because what is hotter or more fun than everyone whispering answers to each other across the wooden tables, slightly blowing a small whiff of extreme garlic every few seconds?? ha ha Their calamari with the lemon aioli is also a must order appetizer wise. Their fish and chips are a brewery favorite for a reason and that is probably because the british know how it is done with drinking and eating and what could go better with beer or cider than deep fried fish and some french fries, eh????

And their ribs put my friend Sarah in rib heaven. I haven't seen anyone eat ribs that quickly except for my brother and he has quite a lot of experience eating ribs!! She said that the sauce which is made with the red horse ale is to die for, so if you are hungry you should check this one out! I will have to send my brother here to give it the real rib test though!

All in all a nice little place, and trivia night fills up quickly so be sure to get there early!! Oh and it is a slightly older crowd (around 30-40s mostly, but still a few other younger ones) and they are all SUPER competitive so watch out for cheaters!!

It was a burger and fries kinda day. Especially after being in Chemistry training class for eight solid hours. You just want a big, juicy burger and cold beer to down it with.

I built my own: a hamburger on a sesame seed bun with cheese and bacon. Yum right?  it was alright.  The meat would've been tasteless if it weren't for the bacon and cheese on it.  Juicy it was, yes.

My garlic fries were good. Not super awesome, and not garlicky enough, but good.

I liked the India Pale Ale. It's like a Hefeweizen, but with more body and bitterness. But still has that refreshing citrusy taste.  (I'm really going the extra mile here, since I don't drink beer very much)

But it seems kinda silly if I don't order beer at a brewery you know?

If it weren't for the great company of my friend Wayne, and the ridiculous 411 that he gave me about the 420, this brewery would've gotten half a star less.

Now I know the benefits of using a vaporizer vs. a plain bong.

I found their other location on yelp, but the one I went to is located at  2713 El Paseo Lane.

Lunchtime beer (well, only 1/3 of a shared pint) was a fun treat.  Got a 6-pack (around $7) to go for later.  It was River Otter Ale so how could I resist that kind of cuteness combined with beer?  I'm all about supporting microbreweries even if they're in strip malls.

I had the pork sandwich (about $8), hoping they could do Carolina-style BBQ justice, but it's Sacramento after all.  It was OK, but not exciting.  Fries were not bad, but not exciting either.   Hmm, kind of how I feel about Sac in general: Not bad, but not exciting.

I should have gotten the pasta-free veggie lasagna because that sounded good, but I needed something to go with my french fries, right?

I'm a big fan of restaurants that brew their own beer (brewpubs).  It just adds a sense of old world "craft"  into their identity and concept.  To taste something that is authentically yours is what primarily draws me.  Whenever I visit a town, I usually check to see if there is a resident brewpub(s).

This is a home grown brewpub with a darker bar area, a very well lit dining area and of course a visible brewery.  Albeit nice and clean, it is far from the touches of modern/trendy interior design.  And for the most part, I like that.

Had lunch here with some friends and had a good time.  The beers are all unique and tasty, while the food, even though not spectacular was decent and solid.  From the sandwiches to salads to their soup, all had their own merits.  The sandwich was stacked nicely, the salads had multiple textures and flavors, the soup was real homey with chunks of chicken and vegetables.  Nice lunch with all the sunlight that was coming in through all the windows.

I'd come back and maybe even take home a six pack next time.  Their Red Ale is that good.

I was looking through the reviews looking for someone to write about the Drunken Pig Tostada. After Greg S's review..I won't even *attempt* to expand on that as he put it perfectly.  The DPT is purely an artform! Pair with a beer...though I paired it with Oatmeal Stout as I like darker ales, I think it would be better with Celtic Amber or River Otter.  The IPA is very, very hoppy and I was surprised that I liked it, as I go for the darker ones.

The wine list leaves a lot to be desired...but if you're at Sac Brew why the hell do you want wine anyway? At least that's what my dad said through a mouthful of their all you can eat ribs when the husband and I took him out for dinner this past week.

I have not had the opportunity to visit Sac Brew on Thursday Trivia night, though being that Trivia Night in the bay area is how my now husband and I met before we moved back here, I will have to give it a try.

The live entertainment is not the greatest..I prefer to go here during the week and venture out to a bit of a livelier spot on the weekends.

I will also have to try the Sunday brunch..sounds delish! Will revise my review after experiencing champagne, bacon, dill dip and trivia. :)

    Cheers~

This place is one of my favorite breweries in Sacramento. The food is pretty good and the beer is excellent and always fresh.

Mondays and Tuesdays they have delicious all you can eat ribs that used to be accompanied by 99cent beers but i think they did away with that.

Sundays they have a Champagne brunch buffet that is AWESOME. Thick sliced bacon, Crab Dill salad, French toast, bread pudding, made to order omellettes...the list goes on and on...beverages are included in the price too (coffee, juice, mimosas, even beer!).

I try to avoid Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays because they have live performances or trivia nights, some people like that stuff but i prefer a quieter environment. The service is always good and they have really cute novelty t-shirts.

Unless you want a Fox-Sports-sounding man yelling for the duration of your meal, do not come here on a Thursday evening.  (I think he sounded like Joe Buck)  If you want to play the severely American version of Pub Quiz (Bar Trivia), come on out-- not sure if Sac has any other options in that regard.  I wasn't playing, but their format sounded pretty convoluted, with mid-round 4-point bonuses and tiebreakers for each round.  The Pig and Whistle SF, with Peter's smooth voice and their simple format is much better.

We started with calamari and the River Otter (they were out of the Red Horse, and I didn't feel like a Sac-squatch, though the whole reason we came out here was a Bee article about Sac-squatch).  River Otter is a pretty good amber ale, though I my bout with the common cold made me unable to really appreciate it, sadly.  So no points lost there.

I had the burger (they only appear to have one on the menu, weird for a brewpub, but I'm glad it was of the guac/bacon/swiss "California" variety), and I was pleased with the heft.  A standard, successful brewpub burger.

My friends had the seafood ravioli and the fish and chips, and left a significant portion on their plates.  Just like trivia, the fishNchips didn't seem to translate well here.  And the calamari was flavorless battered chewiness.   And the bread beforehand has that weird, store-bought dough kinda taste.

They try to be more than the standard "BurgerZan" brewpub, what with the free rolls, seafood and all, but they didn't seem to actually succeed anywhere in the "reach" categories.

Service here was great, our main waitress was really nice, despite the long trip they had to make out to the non-trivia ghetto.  And these people played like a team.  It was pretty full, and we had our entrees brought out by 3 different people all of whom gave us attentive service.

My slogan for brewpub fanboys and fangirls is usually "Hey people, there IS such a thing as lousy microbrew/handcraft beer!"  That didn't apply so much here, though my palate was handicapped, I could tell that the River Otter Ale was good.  Can't wait till the distro makes it out to the Bay Area.  If these guys can get their beer out to Oakland/SF, my hometown Sactown pride will grow ever-so-slightly in this era of Artest/Salmons.

3 stars should be 3.5, but I rounded down because this place honestly doesn't deserve the glow of a 4+

Oh and El Paseo Lane, despite what Google and Yelp will tell you, isn't really a street.  It's just a path into the strip mall.  All of us got lost.  Just enter the center around the SaveMart and you'll be fine.

I went to this restaurant a couple months back with some of my co-workers for their all you can eat ribs special. I believe that have that on mon/tues, but I might be mistaken. The ribs were really delicious, and Im not a big ribs fan, which is probably saying sometime.  The meat was falling off the bones and they were pretty good size. It also came with a side of potato salad that wasn't half bad. They were really hesitant to bring us out more ribs and we always had a waiting period which was a bit irritation when your with 3 guys who want ribs. The waiter was nice but like I said the service was a bit slow and hesitant.
I'd go again just to give it another chance, and it wasnt really a bad deal. If it says all you can eat, sounds good to me!  =]

EXCELLENT BEER!  The Sac-squatch Scotch ale is smoky, dark and smooth like velvet.  The Red Horse has a nice sharp bite to it, and the pale ales are crisp like Sierra Nevada.

The blue cheese or garlic fries are sensational, and if you get the nachos you had better be hungry!  Order the nachos with the pork from the drunken pig tostada salad on it and you'll be in heaven!!

The food in the restaurant section is very good and consistent.  There is a ribeye I've had that is very good and tender and from what I remember they have good fish and chips too.

If you're in the Rancho Area and further east, there is another location called the Oasis on Madison near Sunrise which is the same thing but they just put the oasis name and theme on it.

I have experienced better but it was ok, so my rating is going to be on the high side for this one. Just because it was a Friday night and there was no wait at all.

First off: huge beer list...bad lighting...So when our server came to ask about drinks I was disoriented. But it was cool, he was really nice and helpful. I got a stout (imperial) which I've had before, it has very high alcohol content and one will do me well. I'm a big stout drinker. I was really disappointed to see that there were very few "unique" beers, despite the huge list. A lot of Sierra Nevada, and beer you can get at Bev Mo.

Appetizers: Fried pickles, I've never had them before, they were different and good. Garlic fries: pretty good.

We ordered the create your own pizza. New server came out with our pizza. He sucked. The pizza, well it didn't suck as much as our server Derek, but it wasn't that great. Nothing to write home about.

My boyfriend ordered an Abbey Ale or something like that, supposed to be unique it's originally made by monks...to me it tasted like bodywash and was pretty foul, but he liked it.  Wanting to try one of the more unique brews, I ordered a barley wine which said server (Derek) failed to bring to me. But he did brashly ask if I wanted another beer...um NO I want the barley wine I ordered 20 minutes ago! So I said No, just bring the bill.

The bill was not bad, $41.55 for all that. I can handle that. Due to the server change and the new server's shitty service I didn't even bother with a tip. (yeah yeah all of you that frown upon that, suck one).

Overall...I don't know if I'll be back. I'm a bit disappointed that the beer list was so ordinary for a brewery, I kind of want and expect something to wow me. Who wants to pay the price of a 6 pack for a pint when you can simply go to BevMo and buy it yourself?

I am dinging them a star because we ordered Calamari and about half of we got was onion rings.  The menu doesn't say anything about onion rings, and absent the onion rings, the calamari portion was quite small---thus an very cheesy attempt to pad the light calamri portion by adding a bunch of cheap fried onions.  I nicely asked the served if there were supposed to be all those onions rings, and she said yes, clearly expecting us to be delighted at ordering calamari and getting rings instead.  Maybe we would have if we weren't stupid enough to realize that we were being shorted what we actually ordered.

That said, the cesar salad is still quite good and they have a nice selection of beer.  I won't cross this off the list, but I hope the people who run the place seee this and realize that their little calamari trick is cheesy and obvious.

So far this is my favorite brewpub in Sac.  And it's close to our house :)

The food is good.  The beer is good and they have a happy hour.

If you come here when it is not happy hour, the food can be a little pricey - but we live in the burbs near by and there is a magazine (called Clipper) that has coupons for buy one get one half off entrees.

    Food:
True to any good brew pub, they have a variety.  Pretty much something for everyone.  They have the best (in my opinion) nachos in Sac.  Also I like the veggie burger and the apple walnut gorgonzola salad.  And the Mediterranean pizza is very good.  Did I mention fried pickles?

    Drinks:
All of their beers are good (I like the Hef best).  They also carry Two Rivers Cider (which I love), wine and I think liquor too.  You can get a pint of beer, a 25 oz beer or a pitcher.

    Service:
Spotty.  They have one bartender who kicks *#@ and takes names.  Then there is another one who can't even remember what you ordered.  We usually sit in the bar, not at it.  Service in the dining room is good.

    Happy Hour:
I believe it is everyday from 3 - 6.  $2 off all appetizers and $1 off beers.

My thought after visiting is go for the beer not the food, which makes sense since it is a brewery.  Visited on a Sunday for lunch, place was sorta busy, finishing up brunch service.  Our waitress was snappy and not very interested in helping us.  I had a salad and sandwich, the salad had those gross brown lettuce pieces and nothing much besides that, and I have had better sandwiches from Safeway.
Everyone at the table loved the beer, but didnt think they would return just for the beer.
It is too bad the Sacramento's brewery is not up to Sacramento standards.

Over the years I have been generally disappointed with the breweries in Sacramento. I am happy to say that things are looking up. In addition to their typical in-house lineup including Sacsquatch and River Otter, Sac Brew is bringing in a whole foray of guest beers from California and Oregon.

Last Sunday I took a trip to the brewery for the sole purpose of having a glass of Deschutes's Dissident. It was definitely a worthwhile excursion. Their in-house Old Pappy wheat wine paired with a Reuben sandwich and side salad is something to appreciate. The food is nothing special when compared to the other local breweries. I would like to see more variety as the menu has not changed significantly in three years. They continue to keep their "safe" beer styles and have raised the bar for their seasonal offerings and complex varieties.Sacramento Brewing Company has come a long way in the last 5 years and I am truly grateful.

It's difficult to find - do not rely on direction from google maps. We ended all the way up in Rocklin before calling the restaurant to then find out that those directions are wrong and that you have to take 80 to business 80 to watt and so forth.  It is also behind starbucks and jamba juice.
By the time we got there it wasn't busy at all (about 3pm) however the person that seated us greeted us by saying, "its too bad you weren't here an hour ago - we had a killer sunday brunch." I thought to myself, "yah, thanks a lot, we were busy getting lost and yelling at each other."
the beer was good, I had the porter and my bf had the sac-squatch. don't get the onion rings, too greasy. i had the pork pulled sanwich and my bf had the cheeseburger.
overall, it was ok but not for $52 and it being out of the way.
we won't go again but we will buy the beer.

Maybe my boyfriend and I were just really hungry that day, or there was something in the water, but this was the BEST burger that either of us had ever had!  We went for lunch and both got their "Maximum Burger": meat, choice of cheese (we did cheddar), guacamole, bacon, and regular burger veggies on a sesame bun.  Honestly, I can't quite pin down what it was that made this burger AMAZING.  The meat was cooked a perfect medium (as requested) and was good quality, the guacamole was rich, the bacon was thick and hearty, the bun actually had its own distinguishable and great flavor....Seriously, just try it.

Service was just passing.  Our server took our order very quickly (in fact he came the first time about .04 seconds after got our menus), but then took a long time to get us water.  I think he only stopped by once when we had to ask for water, and then when we asked for the check.

The beer: I had the Red Horse ale.  It was tasty and hoppy.  It would have maybe been great if I hadn't tried what my boyfriend got: The Sac-Squatch.  Strong, thick, dark as sin. And SO GOOD.  Also 7% alcohol (he had a good day).  I'll be getting this the next time I go.

The wine list obviously not one they gave much consideration to for the non-beer drinkers. For the record, I LOVE beer (just none I've had here) but our guests did not, so unless they wanted the "hard stuff" their options were limited. The music is just a little to loud for such a small setting. Don't plan to be able to socialize AND listen to music. The service in the bar has been both good and bad depending on who is working. Seems like most of the women would rather be anywhere else.. .The food is pretty good with many options in both the bar and dinning room. The service in the dinning room was great, friendly and helpfull.

Ummmm, where do I begin? Let's see......slow and not very knowledgeable service (although nice), mediocre food, and unremarkable beer.  The salad was good, but very expensive (11 bucks) for just some mixed greens with a spoonful of crumbled blue cheese and a sliced apple. Pizza was doughy and tasteless and loaded with way too much commodity-style fontina cheese. The beers were  - at best - drinkable. There were a couple that had significant off-flavors and flaws, and we did not drink them. Their bock tasted like a watered down shasta cola that had been left out to go flat, and one beer had major diacetyl (artificial butter) flavor and aroma. The ambience is seriously lacking and it's in uninspiring part of town. Will definitely not go back here.

The food's great. Thursdays used to be a fantastic night for pub trivia with Chris, and a ton of the wait staff is fantastic, especially Jes. Now I heard my ex works there, which just sucks. Enjoy it for me guys!

SBC has a few 'not so good' reviews.  I recommend going on a Friday night.  The place is not full, so you get better service.   The beer selection changes, so you have to check out what they have.  I'm a fan the Pomegranate cider (yummy!) & beer wines.  Good stuff.  The food is pretty good, including their Southern favorite: Fried Dill Pickles!

Went here with tho brother and cousins. I got there pretty late but it wasn't hard to spot where they were sitting since we were the only non-white people there. Service was great and very attentive. I ordered raspberry ice tea and the waitress said they ran out. But I guess they made more or something because she brought it out of me later. We got garlic fries and blue cheese fries. The garlic fries were delish but I didn't try the blue cheese fries but heard it was good. I ordered the beef skewers which weren't too bad either. I thought I was going to be hungry because my dish came with 3 skewers but I was surprised that I got full from it. Tried some of my bro's beer which I forgot what it was but it was nice and smooth. I would most definately come here again to try a beer and another dish. The people here are nice and I don't feel uncomfortable being a minority which is always a good thing.

garlic fries and blue cheese fries, cant go wrong with that. although i have had better, not very often can you find a place in Sacramento that offers them usually. i had beer as well and the otter was smooth and good. i had a rib eye that was cooked to my liking (medium-rare) but the veggies were undercooked and stiff. but the service and attention to us made up for that. atmosphere is cozy, not a lot of diversity in the people around us, but seems like a decent place to visit every now and then. we went on a Friday evening so they had a band playing at 8ish which is always a plus. try it out, i don't think you would mind if you did

nothing special about this place.  the beer is average , the food is average.  i have a collection of pint glasses from breweries i've enjoyed, sacbrew didn't make the cut.  i'd opt to check out some other brew pubs around town.

we really like going to the brewery.  i have to say that it has been tough finding a brewery in this town that we actually like, strange eh?  we hit it up with their generous coupons for buy one dinner get the second 50% off.  we usually get their caeser salad (best homemade caeser dressing that i know of - super spicy and strong!) and a bbq chicken pizza to split.  their beers are always changing and they serve up the local cider - two rivers which i usually like although sometimes it's a bit stinky.  there is a dj that comes a few times a week - good background music and they have trivia night on thursdays which is a good time - get there early and bring someone smart (that's where we always fail :).  overall the best LOCAL brewery that we are happy to visit.

The beer is great, the staff if great, the food is ok, but the entertainment sucks! They really need to fire whoever books the bands and hire someone who knows what is good and bad! Open your eyes folks! Nobody is staying for the lousy bands!
