Review from Toya J.
I love natural skincare products. I don't spoil myself with this stuff too often paying $20 bucks for a jar of this and that, but today was an exception.
If you like products like Origins, The Body Shop places, you will enjoy Sabon! How did they get us in off the street? Free Soap! Yup. The girl handed me a miniature bar of lemon soap and was telling us about their products. So we went in to sample the body scrubs and body butter and they gave us a sort of facial for your hands.
I picked the Lemon mint. Their key ingredients are from the Dead Sea.
We rinsed our hands and followed up with a thick and luxurious body butter. My hands were soft and smooth. Just delicate. I knew this was good stuff. So I got the scrub, the ginger orange butter, and a jar of the mud mask which contains Omega 3 fatty Acids and vitamins A & E.
Seeing was believing, the girls who worked here had gorgeous skin and swore by the products! I know this stuff and they practiced a lot of treatments that I already did so I knew they were knowledgeable about skin care. I'm totally a fan of establishments that practice what they preach! No stores in DC, however you can visit them on line.
Oh and let me add they have a nice pamper line for men as well (no girly factor included).Listed in: NYC Theater District…

I loved the salespeople. And the products are amazing. My hands, which are eczema ridden felt so soft and smelled amazing. The communal hand washing sink was fabulous on a 100 degree day o
In NYC! Definitely recommended. -

Such a cute store!
They are open REALLY late. So if you need to pick up a last minute gift for someone and don't want to weed through all the fragrance testers at Bloomingdale's, This is perfect.
I've picked up last minute gift -

I was thinking about buying a gift for someone here while I was waiting for T.
Upon entering I was immediately greeted. The staff seem very eager to sell me something.
Hmm, are they on commission here?
Well the Spanish girl offered me to try their salt scrub at their conveniently located sink. She's like it's good for psoriasis, eczema, and...
She then gave me some ginger cream since she advised it complements the mint & lemon scent well.
I asked her if there were any chemicals in their products. The young girl told me NO, because they put nothing but all natural ingredients and this is why they use glass containers. It preserves their ingredients a lot better.
I, then asked her if I can see the ingredients to this salt scrub. I read the ingredients to ALL of their items in this store and obviously this girl doesn't know anything about their ingredients.
It's not all natural and it does contain chemicals!
I, then thought perhaps a room diffuser for a gift but the limited selection (ONLY 5 different scents!) of scents...
all of the scents smelled cheap.
They need to work on their room diffuser because obviously their scents aren't working for me.
*sigh*
I am still looking for a gift! -

Peaceful interior, non-pushy salespeople, and a great feeling of being pampered for five or ten minutes in the middle of the day: These are a few of my favorite things.
Good for gifts, but be sure your giftee likes fragrance first. Everything is wrapped in a way that is both simple and luxurious, and the packaging itself is appealing.
The scrubs are great. In particular, I'm a fan of the vanilla-coconut and the creamy carrot. Leaves you lightly fragranced, silky smooth, and perfectly moisturized.
Warning: They know that the products sell themselves. So when they ask you if you would like like a soap sample or want to come and wash your hands at the cool rustic sink, agree only if you won't feel bad about making a somewhat pricey purchase. Once you play with this stuff, it's very hard to resist. -

I love this place! I wandered in while walking around the area, they scrubbed my hands with their awesome scrub and then gave me some of their lotion. I tried the coconut vanilla, my hands smelled great all day. I actually went back and bought the body butter bar. It is great, so thick, kind of grainy, but it smells really really good. You can put it in a bowl and heat it up and it acts like a candle.
I wish I could spend all my money in this place, it wouldn't be hard, as it's kind of expensive. Not terrible, but not cheap.
The people that work here are awesome, I want a job! and I'd smell good all day. -

This location was very cute. Located conveniently on the corner of SW corner of 61st and Lex, it was a very small store. It smelled quite nice, but after using their sink to try some of the sea salts, I realized that the smell would suck to have on your hands all day... Especially since it was very strongly perfumed.
The people inside were very nice though. They really wanted to help you out and tell you about their products. My hands did feel very strong, but they also felt kinda grimy... Not clean for washing my hands. I think I still just prefer soap. Maybe I'd try the sea salt every once in awhile. -

What a great experience! Okay, yes, I said that on my last review but really- isn't everything about experience?
As I'm walking in one of the women that work there is sprinkling the entrance with a wonderful aromatic oil. Delish.
i'm greeted by Jen, a petite girl with jet black trendy em-cut hair, cut off gloves and a pierced nose. Is she wearing Doc Martins? I think so. Not that it should matter but to me it does because it was nice that the small space on the upper east side was laid back, you know what I mean?
Anyway, she asks me if I've been there before and invites me to share in their tradition, washing my hands in their really cool sink (brought from Israel) with one of their scrubs. I chose a lavender-apple blend and followed up with the lotion.
Can someone say baby's butt? My hands felt amazing. I couldn't stop carressing them and I was in shock a little. It was GREAT. She was with me for a few moments suggesting a purchase but she wasn't pushy at all. It was actually nice.
I ended up buying their signature scent scrub for a total of about $28 and it was nicely wrapped at the register. There were so many other goodies, I had to get out of there before I spent more than I should. The holidays are not good for my bank account as is.
If you love that homemade feel of a product and a GOOD product, at that, it's worth the price. Candles, soaps, aromatics, scrubs, lotions. Anything to delight your sense of touch and smell.

Even though it's expensive, I like Sabon. The sales staff are nice and don't pressure you too much to buy stuff.
Their olive oil based soaps last for a decent amount of time when kept out of direct contact with water. My favorites are the lemon nana and the rosemary soaps.
Another must-try there is the lemon mint body scrub. It smells great and makes your skin insanely smooth afterward.
Skip the "scented" candles. I bought a small candle in the musk scent, and it doesn't smell like anything when it burns. -

I'm not embarrassed to admit that I can't help stopping into every Sabon I pass. The stores themselves are so calming and pleasant smelling, and the staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable. They really want to help, but aren't pushy about it, and they never make me feel guilty for wanting the hand scrub, even if I don't end up buying anything. As far as the scrub goes, after I do it, I can't stop touching my hands the rest of the day, so smoothing and comfortable. And all the other products are incredible: my favorite is this body butter that melts with body heat. It comes in a bar and they give you a tin to keep it in your purse. I could go on and on, but I'll stop there.

My coworker and I happened upon this store a little over a month ago. We were greeted and presented with the opportunity to try out some of the products by the folks that worked in the store. The experience was extremely pleasant. After a 5 min hand wash and moisturizing, my coworker and I spent over $50 bucks each on scrubs, lotions, and soap. We were invited by "Vinettia" (I thinks that's how you spell it) to return whenever we wanted for a complimentary hand shower. She also told us that she would be leaving the next day for the summer to go to Greece but that although she wouldn't be there, we were invited to come back. Pleased with the shopping experience and our products, we left looking forward to our next "experience". Three weeks later, I ran out of the scrub and decided to purchase another jar., so my coworker and I returned to the store. This time things were different. We were not greeted. In fact we were ignored repeatedly by the staff even after trying to get their attention. We decided to wash our hands ourselves and wait to be helped. After 10 minutes in this tiny store, we learned that we were not going to be serviced. I approached the woman behind the counter and asked for help...she too ignored me. So then to get her attention, I asked to speak with a manager and she told me she was the manager. I told her that we had not been helped and that we had been in the store for more than 10 minutes. She said it was because she was busy, and she never stopped what she was doing or asked to help us. Needless to say, I left the store sure not to ever patron there again, but unsure if this time our race had anything to do with being helped?

Well, quite frankly I don't know how much a fifty year old guy needs with all that fancy soap, but it's fun to come across a place like this when you're traveling. The staff (Sarah and Naomi) were incredibly friendly and gracious, eager and fun to talk to. They wrapped everything individually, and took care to make the gift purchase look nice. They knew their stuff, and their expertise certainly made me feel comfortable buying more than I probably need. A splurge once in a while is fine when you receive such sterling service.
