I got a teensy free sample of soap from Sabon like 6 months ago. I put it on the side of my bathroom sink, thinking it would last a week. It's still going strong. In fact, it's almost the same size it was 6 months ago.
This tempts me to start buying all my bar soap from Sabon, since it could probably be $20 per bar but still amortize to be cheaper than Irish Spring. And smell better, of course.

i have to say THANK YOU to this website/these reviews for making me walk into Sabon. I actually went to the one on 6th avenue directly after work because I didn't want to wait to go to the one by my apt on the UWS. I would always pass by, and being half Israeli and knowing hebrew, I'd see Sabon and think I should REALLY pop in there someday. I thought it would be overpriced and stuffy, but I was mistaken.
I washed my hands in the glorious fountain in the middle and immediately purchased the Patchouli Vanilla Lavendar body scrub (which has me smelling fresh and feeling smooth this morning). It smells like heaven in a bottle and is finally giving my dry winter skin some relief. I plan to go back and get the body lotion as well. This is the kind of store that I could spend hours in and I want to have literally everything.
The pricing is roughly the same as a Bath and Body Works, but the quality of both service and their products is way better. Why use the same old cucumber melon/warm vanilla sugar as everyone else in the world when you can smell like patchouli vanilla lavendar??!!

I've heard a lot about their body scrubs so the other day I decided to get a few items for someone's birthday instead of the usual L'Occitane on my street. Without even trying the body scrub and lotion, I bought a few items for a gift bag.... while I was waiting for the pretty packaging, I tried one of the scrubs using the large sink / fountain in the middle of the store. Wow! What a great exfoliator... totally felt like new skin... better than any other product I've tried before.. great relief for my scaly, dry hands.. I was impressed and perhaps I'll be going to Sabon more often these days than L'Occitane....

I love all Sabons, but this is my favorite--big, still a strongly Israeli staff, excellent UWS location. Sabon's expensive, but it always smells delicious and the staff there are the best, so friendly and eager to wash your hands for you. The products are great great great, they smell so good you want to eat them and leave your skin so sooooooft.
The store itself is soothing, even when it is jam-packed with customers. Lots of brick and splashing water and I kind of want to move in and set up my bed next to the hand-cut slabs of soap. Mmmm.

I do not leave my house without rubbing myself down in the Lavender Apple Butter Cream. That sounded a litle pornish..but it's true! I smell like heaven, my skin is softer than a baby's bottom (at least that's what the men tell me ..hehe), and only a lil' dab will do ya! It's all I use and at $25 bucks a pop, it's worth it. Can't live without it.
The store is really like an upscale version of Bath and Body Works and the staff is laidback and friendly and will urge you to wash your hands with some of their handwash which is also unbelievable. Your hands will be very happy you did. They also always wrap your stuff up in pretty paper making it all gifty looking, even if it's just for youself. I'd say it's a great place to buy a gift basket for someone who likes to be pampered. Far better quality products than Bath and Body Works and Vicky's Secret.
FYI: Their candles suck. They don't smell at all. No good.

When you walk into Sabon (Sweet Sweet Soapy Heaven) you will be asked if you'd like to wash your hands. Never, ever, ever say no. Don't even think about saying no. I don't care if you just got a nice manicure or you are scared of public facilities or you think your hands are ugly or whatever sorry excuse you might come up with. Don't say no.
They will lead you to the tub in the middle of the floor and put a generous scoop of their body scrub in your hands. (My favorite is Vanilla Coconut.) Mush them around. A lot. Then rinse off.
You will not be able to stop touching yourself.

Typical bath and body works prices but NOT YOUR TYPICAL PRODUCTS! I didn't want to go in. I was sure I'd be pressured or snubbed. I thought it was a candle store at first. this BEAUTIFUL hippie girl came over and asked if I wanted to try any scrub. they have this awesome italian looking fountain to wash your hands in. but afterwards she didn't pressure me into buying anything. everything looks like it's in an old chemist bottle which I love. and prices are not so bad. I did buy the scrub - I recommend the carrot lotion. that lovely pathcouli lavender scent is hard to get though. it's the top seller.

Oh heaven! Sabon's lotions, cremes, scents and scrubs are the best I have ever used.
While, yes, it is a little expensive, it is WELL worth the price.
I love the bath wash in Patchouli lavander and when i use the dead sea bath scrub my body feel likes it been to a wonderful spa. The smell alone thrills me.
My best friend from Texas visited me - she was absolutly aghast at my studio apartment, propensity to eat out and the amount of money I spend on entertainment. The only thing she was impresed at was my Sabon scrub and lotion that she used everyday.

This place is akin to Lather in Los Angeles to me only nicer...you know, the homemade, organic soaps and whatnot. I always buy stuff from places like this on a whim so that I can be that person who has that one cool thing that no one else has discovered just yet lol. I wandered in here the other night after a couple (OK...a FEW) glasses of wine over at Nick and Tony's and the smell was just so overwhelming and relaxing that I just HAD to get SOMEthing. I ended up with the Lavender Rose Body Lotion (also comes in a cream version)...it smells great and seems to be moisturizing pretty darn well. I really did like the Patchouli Lavendar Vanilla but my boyfriend said it reminded him of his mom...and well, can't have THAT now can we? lol Great little gift store...check it out. You can even get a few little pieces of their cut soaps to take home and try.

A gorgeous store with aromas that tease your nostrils. They often lure you in with free soap sample that smell so good you want to eat them. Sabon takes cleaning up to the next exotic level.
Like the Body Shop, the soaps here are almost TOO sweet-smelling. Expensive, too.
I have tried eating soap: *&%^$#!
Yeah, I usually fall for pretty packaging.
Sabon's is like a high-scale Bath and Body. There's usually enough room to breathe and the service is really good, but the products are also super expensive. You really don't need a lot of this stuff unless you just want to pamper yourself or someone else. So if you're in the pampering mood...
I live practically across the street from this place and always managed to pass by without going in, despite the amazing aromas wafting out onto the sidewalk. I figured it was more of the same...overpriced beauty and bath products that I probably didn't need. I finally decided to stop in because I had two birthday gifts to buy and their window display had beautiful packaging, so I thought I'd check it out. Not only were the two girls in there just friendly and helpful enough without being aggressive and pushy, but they offered to save me money. When I asked to have my gift wrapped in one of their pretty boxes, she offered to wrap it in cellophane and ribbon with dried flowers for free, as the box cost 3 dollars. She did a beautiful job and I ended up buying both gifts at Sabon, as well as their Body Scrub in Patchouli Lavendar Vanilla for myself..they demo'd it on my hands and I felt like I had the skin of a stripper. Not that I would know what the skin of a stripper feels like, but I imagine it ought to be this soft and smell this heavenly... ; )

perfect if you're looking for a hostess gift. the soaps are all organic (i think) and made on premises. if you ask, they will show you how. everything smells amazing, and its much nicer than just bringing something you bought at the body shop
