Review from Neline S.
What a different experience this is after a dismal one at another beauty product store a few blocks away.
I've heard about Sabon before which is an Israeli company with an assortment of sea salts, lotions, and bath soaps.
The experience begins with washing your hands and the sales associate asking you what fragrance you like. I usually go for a fresh, clean scent like citrus but the Jasmine sea salt nearly drove me wild.
Mya was the sales associate who provided the wonderful experience for me, taking the time to explain the products and helping me put two gifts together for my coworkers. I wasn't initially going to purchase anything as I was going for a theme but when you're seduced by the smells and touch, it's hard to resist. (However, I would not call this an impulse buy because this was strictly for someone else and their tastes).
So Mya helped me pick out the first gift for my girly coworker and absolutely loved the Madonna soap, which was a pomegranate scent with a victoria picture etched on the soap. I wanted to go with a theme so we ended going through the glycerine and the olive oil soaps sniffing each one. I think the first glycerine soap I picked out was a Lilac scent and the next one was Rosemary scent to compliment each other. Mya said she can put these in a gift box which is wrapped in the store free of charge.
The next gift box was for my other coworker who travels to these exotic islands so I ended up picking up a peach ball which emotes the sense you're somewhere tropical and far away. They had a bamboo glycerine soap to compliment the fresh, clean scent and I bought the Tropic body foam.
Overall, both gifts where about $30 and Mya was very mindful of the limit I set which I appreciated a lot.
I'm coming back for the Jasmine scrub set as I absolutely love the scent! -

The previous reviews have pretty much said all I want to say. Beautiful store and great products! You'll be tempted to walk in and buy everything on display, lol. Highly recommend the vanilla coconut body scrub and the butter cream if you like coconut as much as I do!

This review is more about the sales associates then the products because I love the products, but the sales associates here are pretty bad. I walked in with a friend and we were both quickly approached by an associate, which I get, I mean I work retail and it's part of the job description but this associate would not leave us alone. I told the girl I was ok and I was just going to look around for a bit and if I need anything I'll ask. About 2 minutes later same girl comes up to me asking if every thing's ok, I inform her I'm fine, still looking. Another minute passes and there she is again! I swear she must have come up to me at least 10 times in the 20 minutes I spent here. Finally I decided on a body polisher and when I get to the cash wrap...there's a line and no associate ringing any customers up....I don't know if I just came at the wrong time or what but not a pleasant experience, I felt rushed and when I actually needed an associate nobody was there...

Everyone was very nice. The store smells wonderful as you walk in. They have an array of items. From soaps, the lotions, to soap flakes. There is lots to choose from. I purchased the patchouli vanilla scented cream. It's heavy enough to keep you moisturized but not too heavy. All in all a great experience. I will be back!

Love their products! Went with a friend so she could pick up some products, and I had to buy myself the Patchouli Lavender Vanilla hand lotion. I'm heading back this week for gifts!

I am a true product junkie. Sometimes I take the "Oprah" vow not to buy
anymore creams until I have used up the 59 other lotions in my cabinets (Yes, Oprah really aired an episode about this). Then I come across something new & alluring. I wander into the playground and play with products and _voila!_ another sucker is born.
Unfortunately, Sabon turned out to be so "meh". They do a great job of luring in customers off the street with great smelling scents streaming out the front door, but so does a shop like Bath & Body Works. I will admit that I was attracted to the higher end image of their products, but disappointed with the actual performance of what I bought.
The lotions smell great, but the consistency is so thick (and not like a creamy thick) that it takes forever to seep into my skin and leaves behind a filmy residue. This is unfortunate especially during one of the longest heat waves during summertime in New York.
What I really wanted was to decorate my new restroom with attractive bath products. I loved the way the shower gel smelled and the bottle was somewhat pretty in a shabby chic old fashioned style. However, the bottle is made from heavy glass and almost shattered all over my tub when it slipped.
On a side note, I can't imagine any man being happy with having to see these products on display everyday. Woman: take note....unless you are married to a shabby chic loving, grandma doily collecting type of fella. -

I get drawn in here every time I walk past for two reasons
1. They have amazing products
2. To wash my hands after running all over the city
Sabon has high quality products at a reasonable price. They also have great customer service, with helpful but not pushy associates.
My favorite item at Sabon is their scrub, it leaves your hands soft, smooth and smelling great. Followed with their body butter and you feel like you just had an hour of ex foliation. Try it if you don't believe me they have washing stations.
In addition to body scrubs, they also carry bar soap, body oil, scent diffusers, lotions and bath gel.
Perfect place if you are getting a gift for someone who is hard to buy for. Plan to order online very soon -

My perfect excuse to want to wash my hands every instance I walked past this store in Soho.
Love the body scrub. Every friend whom I brought into the store to try their scrubs end up being a total convert.
Nothing, and I really nothing, felt so good on your skin.
Plus, the free little soap samples are great! -

I was shopping in soho and saw some beautiful soaps in the window of this store. I went inside and was greeted by the fresh, soft scent of the scrubs which were arranged near the door by a few sinks. The walls were lined with lotions, scrubs, soaps, linen sprays and tons of other little beautiful jars filled with who knows what.
The service was very friendly and they did an amazing job wrapping up my stuff in plastic and bubble wrap since I was going to be flying back to LA.
I suggest stopping at this store last because the stuff does tend to be a little heavy to carry, especially if you're going to be shopping for an extended period of time. -

Sabon is just perfect. Their products are amazing and the service I get every time I come here, is just outstanding. How one can walk in this store and not buy something is beyond me! Everything in here smells amazing and I can never, ever just buy one thing in here. I'm not capable of it, which is why I only allow myself to go in here once a month.
Their products (especially their handmade soaps) will keep you smelling good and your skin incredibly smooth and soft. Also those bath balls are soooo damn cool!
My must have products: The rose bath ball, the lavender hand lotion, the rose bath gel.
If you're a woman try it. If you're a man with a significant other get their gift from here. She'll love you forever. -

MY MOTHER'S HANDS ARE SOFTER THAN MINE.
She need not use lotion. I, however, have tried every lotion possible in order to attain the results nature did not afford me. Sabon helps to ease my frustrations!
I love their body lotion and body scrub, aromatherapy, and grass glycerine soap(my favorite). I leave the bar of soap in my room, and the fresh scent envelops me. It's my luxurious wake up call.
I bought my friend a bridal shower pkg from here. The staff is very attentive and will explain each product they offer; the sales lady patiently walked me through my selection.
If gifting, chosen items can be wrapped in the box of your choice. Returns are convenient; get store credit in the form of a card if you don't have the receipt, & a full refund on all products if you do have one. -

I love walking into Sabon and immediately being asked to wash my hands by the very nice and helpful employees. The first time a friend took me here I was scared, but seriously - let them wash your hands!
The products are gorgeous and make your skin feel so soft and smooth. Obviously, I'm a big fan of the scrubs. Have also really enjoyed a few of their masks, particularly the seaweed mud mask, which does wonders if you use it once a week.
I would recommend coming here if you're looking for a gift for someone. I bought my mother a pot of the scrub and she greatly appreciated it. -

Excellent handmade soap!
As the staff says: "It will make your hands as soft as a baby's bottom"
What a true statement that is!

I didn't know how much I loved soap until I visited Sabon. I also received a "handjob" - a complimentary hand washing and lotioning. I used one of the organics made with olive oil and Dead Sea salt. OLIVE FREAKING OIL AND DEAD FREAKING SEA SALT. My hands have never felt so soft.
My girlfriend bought (and generously shares with me) face scrub and moisturizer... The moisturizer is called carrot but it does NOT smell like carrots - it smells like heaven.
The staff is ridiculously friendly, too.
Once I get some money in the bank (a face scrub and moisturizer run about $60 together) I will most definitely return and buy my own handgasmic products. -
Review from Thomas O.
When ever I think of Sabon, I think of Oprah saying "Sahhhhhhhbonnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!" because this stuff would probably be on her "favorite things" show.
Not only are their products fantastic but the sales team just amazes me with their kindness and warmth. I love when they invite me to scrub my hands with their super body scrub made from olive oil and dead sea salt.
I ended up buying one for my parents, the lemon mint scent, and I can't stop using it myself. It makes my hands, feet, knees, and elbows so soft I can't stop rubbing them. I also got them a body lotion to lock in the moisture after scrubbing.
I also bought the face scrub which has a finer salt particulate so that it doesn't damage delicate skin. It too has a minty scent and lasts forever!
But I think the on cherry top of this middle eastern love cake was the free 4 oz bottle of Patchouli Lavender Vanilla bath oil they threw in the bag for becoming a "member" of their club. How freaking cool is that?
Their packaging is pretty bad ass seeing as its made from GLASS. I also loved how the sales girl packaged my gift. She asked if I was traveling by air (and I was) so she wrapped the jars with pastic and tape in the event of crackage it wouldn't leak into my bag.
The diffusers, which is what I bought previously from them, last quite a while and diffuse as much as you would expect one to diffuse. No weaksauce here! The "Heaven" scent has got to be the best one.
Right now they are offering free shipping for online orders of $100 or more and seeing as everything they have is so damn excellent, you'll end up spending that much or more. I think it expires after Father's Day.
Can't wait to be back in NY to indulge once again in olfactory bliss at SABON. -

My hands are thanking me right now!!!!! I was shopping yesterday in SoHo when this cute gal was handing out little samples of soap. One whiff and I had to inquire.......
Need to say a few things before I continue. I'm a proud "straight" male that just spent close to $100 on soap. Never in my life did I ever think for more than 2 seconds on which soap to buy at the store,"Irish Spring....done!" Not anymore..... this place was a definite eye opener for me!!! The dead sea salt soap scrub is truely heaven on earth for my hands! I bought a huge jar of the body scrub "tropic" and a fresh cut bar of vanilla bean soap.
The staff here is so nice and very informative. I can't wait to go back!
Just go, wash your hands, and then thank me later...... -

Once upon a time, on a cold, dreary winter's eve, I stumbled into this cozy store in need of some comfort. The woman quickly tended to my dry hands, exfoliated them, and let me pick a moisturizer.
"Exfoliation helps in the absorption of moisture," said the woman.
"Please exfoliate me with the signature soap and moisturizer," said I, proceeding to the font of running water. "Is this Bounty paper towel?"
"It is, it is."
"How magical."
"I love you."
"I love you, too."
I asked for any soap recommendations, and she gave me a rosemary and olive oil soap. Ever since, I've been basting myself. For soon I shall be roasted. And I lived happily ever after.
The End.

I love to stop by Sabon for a brain detox after a day in Soho.
Walk in and right away your bags are swept to the side, and one of their delightful assistants is washing away the chill from your hands at the large basin in the center of the room.
What's that lotion she's rubbing into my sore palms? Something with carrot.......(sighs)........how lovely.
Unlike Lush the fragrances are very light and I find them quiet soothing especially in the winter when my skin is by far its driest..
I enjoy the Patchouli Lavender Vanilla cream for everyday use but on those below 20 degrees days my epidermis is thankful for a rub down of Coconut Butter Cream.
The best part is they gift wrap all their products so they're a great quick buy for that birthday you forgot or date your trying to impress...... -

The staff is helpful and friendly.
The products are truly amazing... My friend had mentioned that she heard this place has the most delicious skin care products. And she heard right.
The face lotion in Desert Flower for oily/ combo skin is: light, luxurious and creamy. I love the way my skin feels! And Sabon is a steal compared to my previous skincare line.
Yeah, Sabon is so good I ditched my previous skincare line... =)
The white tea eye cream is heavenly. I used to use DermAdoctor Wrinkle Revenge Eye Balm. That retails for $68. This white tea eye cream at Sabon is $22. And Sabon does a better job at a third of the price. It managed to tame my more noticeable eye wrinkles. I dunno, somewhere along the the lines I started to accumulate a few track fields around my eyes. =(
The Day Serum is hydrating and light. And I use it in lieu of a Toner before my face lotion. Yeah, it rocks...
I'm from California and I only wished I stocked up on more products... =/ -

Sabon is the apothecary of a princess's dreams!
I visit the store for their Broadway opening (532 Broadway to be exact) and I was floored. The rustic, antique feel of the shop mixed with the romantic scents and more than awesome staff is a knockout.
Not to mention, upon arrival you receive a hand washing in a stone gilded sink that is out of this WORLD. The sea salt scrub will change your life! -

Sabon is a work of art.
From the fairy tale store design, to the creatively arranged and colorful products, to the stylish outfits of the staff, everything about Sabon exudes beauty. Visit this location for not just the product, which is excellent and reasonably priced for the very high quality, but for the aesthetic experience. You will feel like you're in the Bathhouse of the Spirits in Miyazaki's Spirited Away (and if you don't know what I'm talking about, go rent it! Best movie ever. EVER.)
That all sounded like an advertisement for Sabon rather than a review. But seriously, this place rocks. Also their Body Butter healed my dry skin. BOOM.Listed in: New York City Favorites

Review from Lise C.

I promised myself I would write a positive review before I wrote any more obnoxious ones, but then this outrageous thing happened yesterday and I just couldn't let it go. I went into Sabon because I'd bought a gift there recently and had taken the little soap samples they give you with each purchase for myself. I wasn't being stingy; it just seemed weird to give the tiny soap shards along with the nice gift basket--like giving post-its with a Mont Blanc pen or something. Anyway, one of the soap samples was lemon verbena and I really liked it, so I thought I'd go buy a bar of it.
Before I crossed the threshold of the place, though, this tiny perky sales lady scurries up to me and says, "Excuse me, but could you tell me where you got your bag?" Now my first thought here is, Oh, isn't that nice, she likes my bag!!!! but then, after I answered, I took a more realistic view of the situation:
1. This woman could hardly have seen my bag before she started talking to me
2. The bag is nice, but it's not Sabon-salesperson-style. It's not webby or shiny or beady, and someone who doesn't wear a bra wouldn't wear it.
3. Almost before I finished answering the question, the woman said, "Can I help you with anything?"
So, of course, I didn't buy the soap. Which, I will admit, I rather regret, though on the other hand I have about six bars of lavender soap at home and a hundred hotel bath gels.
In any case, the only useful point in this review will be this: If you're willing to spend sixteen bucks for something that CVS sells for 99 cents, then Sabon is great. The products are beautifully packaged and they smell nice (obviously) and the pieces of soap are cut from this long loaf-ish bar, which, if you really like soap, is kind of romantic.
[My editor tells me that the salesperson tactic I'm referring to is not obvious. The tactic I'm talking about is this: Flatter someone and then they'll buy stuff at your store. It's like upselling. If you're renting an economy car, they try to sell you on the Hummer, but if you're just getting the free Avis maps maybe they'll give you a compliment, hoping you'll rent from them next time.] -

This place is just the best smelling place in NYC~ I was startled at first to see a giant rock sink in the middle of the store but it was cool to see people randomly washing their hands with the various products.
I plan to come back here when some of my friends visit from other areas that love the stuff from Bath and Body works because this place is just 10x better~

Sabon is really great....
I don't know what it is about those Dead Sea cosmetics but they are seriously awesome!
I recommend the basic hand lotion but everything is pretty tempting!

I would give this place another star if the smells weren't so overwhelming that I could actually smell their products. They need more coffee beans arounds so I can actually smell their products. The products are definitely top notch so you can't go wrong with their products... you just need to pick your scent... if you can smell it.
The customer service is great as well! -

I love Sabon. However, I prefer the one in the Upper West Side. Too bad for me a bar of soap is not worth a treck allll the way uptown. Even if the service is ten times better.
That said, this place is great for gifts! They beautifully wrap each and every single purchase. Even if it's only a three dollar piece of soap. (the sales girl may roll her eyes but I don't care)
The scents are girly and floral as opposed to natural(l'occitane) or tree huggerish or fruity (LUSH) love Sabon... now if only they'll make a store on the east side... -

To sum it up: fantastic staff, super-smelly products, & NO animal testing.....this is the perfect bath shop!!
Visited NYC last weekend & happened upon Sabon during a jaunt into Soho & what a find!
Even though slammed w/ people, I was immediately greeted by a super-friendly girl, who asked if I had ever been there before. When I tell her I'm a newbie, she got all excited & immediately led me to the sample sink where I then got excited by the most incredible Patchouli / Lavender Salt Scrub ever....ever.....in my life.
I know, I know, a SF girl liking the Patchouli but really, there's no hippie Patchouli smell here - it makes the lavender fresher, more flowery, & more invigorating! I dare to say, not even an inkling of Patchouli to be sniffed.
Speaking of sniffing, the scent lasted forever which is super-hard to find in a soap product.....I couldn't stop smelling my hands for the rest of the night.....or making my friends smell them too! :-)
Fun music in the store, everything was individually wrapped for the plane by great people, lots of laughing & dancing behind the counter & I got the bonus of a great workout w/ the 20 lbs of glass I carried out of there! Skip the gym - woohoo!Listed in: I'm So Vain.....

My old roommate was obsessed with organic cosmetics, every surface of the bathroom was covered in Suki, Sabon and Dr. Bronner's soap.
Still the scent of the Vanilla Coconut wafting from the shower convinced me to get my own. For $30 it's more of a splurge than a necessity. Good pick-me-up in winter. -

LOVE their candles. i've never smelled anything so true to scent before! AND, the scent is not overwhelming either. i have the amber and patchouli candle but will be getting more. the vanilla coconut is a bit too sweet but still smells amazing.

After a long day of walking the Brooklyn Bridge, eating in Chinatown, and general roaming, it was the lovely Ruth who swept my girlies and I off the streets to scrub and massage our hands with delightful scents and fantastic lotions. I loved it, and it was such a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the streets of SoHo!
I like that they don't try to really force anything on you in terms of products, but honestly, the soaps and lotions smell so good that they probably sell themselves! -

The wife brings home a giant pink jar. Hum...
Two hours later, the shower calls. While going through a normal routine, the giant, pink, sea-salt, jasmine vanilla flower foo-foo jar with an itty-bitty scoop calls to me... "Mike, come on... you know I claim to make your hands instantly smooth and soft. Who cares that the jar is just about the most feminine thing you've ever seen... no one will know." Just millions of Yelpers...
Of course, not being one to turn away from something based on such a stupid reason, I get a giant scoop of pink sea salt and begin washing. Flash forward 8 hours: MY HANDS ARE FREAKING SOFT! This stuff is great.
I learn later of the price... oh why am I such a sucker for expensive things. Oh, and yes, they are very nice in the store! -

I really enjoy their beauty products, the one i use the most is body scrubs. It does whats promised. very good for dry skin type. which is what I have. their body butter cream is very good too.
During the summer I bought this oil, supposedly it's good for the dry spots of your body. i couldn't recall the name they weighted by lbs. I am not a big fan of that. it was too oily and hard to use
I tried the face scrub is good also. Those are the items i tried so far with sabon. I'm looking forward to buy more of their products in the future for sure =)
You can try their products in the store and.. feel it for yourself -

I absolutely LOVE Sabon and their products! This is the one store LA needs and NOW, well we could use a Topshop too. Anyways, I fell in love with this store a few years ago and swear by their products. My favs are: the mud mask, A&E face mask, body lotion, body butter, salt scrubs and milk soap. My favorite scents are apple lavender, vanilla coconut and delicate jasmine. The scented facial wipes are also great. The soap is nice but I can live without it. The scrubs leave your body feeling ah-mazing, super soft and silky. I use them all over but they make your legs feel great!!! Be careful if flying with these products though, I have had a few really bad leaks with the salt scrubs (oil everywhere :( not so fun when they soak through an entire DVF bag) Make sure to tell them to package your items up extremely well or order on-line and take a chance. You can smell these stores from a little ways down the block. They are the best! They are definitely a step above The Body Shop and Bath & Body Works. Very classy products for men and women and really cute gift baskets.

This is my favorite of the NY Sabons...it's in Soho a block off Broadway on Spring Street. The salt scrubs are so soft that if you wash your hands you won't need lotion all day. The scents are full and fragrant...lavender apple is my favorite and the store's signature scent. Hand made soaps are cut to the size you want. The packaging is beautiful and makes impressive gifts. From the presentation to the quality of the products to the cozy funky store and friendly staff, Sabon is a treat to visit. LOVE IT!
