My 2nd time at Ryde and wasn't really disappointed.  The service is excellent, they make sure you're taken care of and check on you regularly.  The seating outside is nice, it's near the road, but there's not a ton of cars in this off the beaten track so it's nice.  The hotel is a historic site so that's a plus, if you have little ones, it's a good educational trip along with some good food.

Ok..so on to the review!  The food is good, brunch is ~$23 per person, so it's not a bad deal, that includes the buffet and coffee, orange juice, soda, mimosas so it's not too shabby.  The brunch must vary, because the first time we went, there were better/more selections.  This last time we had brunch the selection was OK.

There was sausages, bacon, eggs benedict, various fruits, cheeses, salmon, fresh sliced roast beef and ham, french toast sticks, omelets made to order (and you don't have to stand there with your plate like you're begging for your food...they actually bring your omelet to your table! ) There's also shrimp cocktail, pasta salad, salad and a fairly small dessert area.

All in all, the food is about a 3.5 stars out of 5...the service is a 4 out of 5 and all in all exeperience......3.5 / 4 stars....would I go back, sure!  But it is a bit of a drive.....if you want to try something different, go to Ryde...it's a neat place to visit and like I said, the food is good and the service is great.  Word of advice, if you do go here on a holiday (i.e. Mother's Day or Easter)....make reservations!  It can be really crowded!

Oh...almost forgot, there's a cute little mini golf course which is part of the hotel, it's cute for the kids and there's a bunch of pear trees...so quaint!  :)

No A/C during a wedding reception when it was 104 outside.  Yes.  That happened last Sunday.  People left early during the wedding reception because the basement where the wedding was held did not have any working A/C.  The A/C was supposed to happen, but it just didn't work out.  For that reason alone I would give the place one star.  However, the Ryde Hotel is pretty nice should everything work out.

The wedding was also held at Ryde Hotel and in back which had a very muddy area.  In fact, the whole ground area was very wet.  Not very helpful for a wedding.  During the wedding rehearsal the ground was not wet and muddy.  Despite the wet ground the back area was very pretty.

The basement of the hotel used to be a bona fide speakeasy during Prohibition.  Folks would come out and get drink and maybe escape through a secret tunnel that went over to the river (safety hazard!  that means tunneling under the levy).  Rad.  Prohibition was dumb.  Speakeasies were cool.

If the pretty accommodations and the cool history didn't exist I would give this place one star.  If the A/C worked I would give this place three stars.

Supposedly my step dad is writing a book about Bootlegging in the Delta during the 1920's and this was the place he sought inspiration.  He was not disappointed and I see why.

The previous owner discovered a hidden room, and what could it have been?  A speakeasy of course.  I guess this little place in the middle of nowhere was a destination for Hollywood movie stars looking to get their drink on.

The speakeasy has since been restored, and used for dinning I think.  I have yet to use it.

The art deco isn't very authentic, but the atmosphere is unique, the rooms were very clean and the service was friendly. Plus it makes a really nice drive.

They also have a fabulous brunch on Sundays (see their website for pictures of food).  A little pricey but they do not disappoint.

It's a great weekend get away.

The town of Ryde, population 30, goes by in the blink of an eye, but I always noticed the hotel marked with tall palm trees.  Just start looking for  the trees when you pass Poverty Road.

Yes, that is a real road, where people live.

We went here for brunch and maybe it was an offday but the service was bad and the food was cold. We probably won't go back.

We drove out to the Ryde Hotel to meet some new friends for brunch.  There were about 18 of us, and even though we didn't have a reservation, a table was set up for us within 15 minutes.

The brunch was average, with several types of salads, an omelette station, beef, waffles, bacon, salmon, and other breakfast foods.  I wanted to try the eggs benedict, even though I heard it was dried out, but when I went to get a plate they were all gone.  The desserts were tasty - moist cakes, mousse, creme brulee, cookies, and flaky pastries.

Brunch was 24$ per person.

The bathroom was one of the best parts.  At first I thought I'd stepped into a drag queens dressing room.  Brightly painted walls, thin willowy drapes, and sequined throws decorated the room.

There is a grand hall downstairs for weddings.  It has an endless bar, a dancing area, deco chairs, and more of the willowy drapes.  The whole scene made me think of the movie, "The Shining" when Jack Nicholson is drinking in a room full of ghosts.

I checked out the website and the rooms seem to be well priced.  They have no telephones, no TVs and no air conditioning so there won't be anything to drown out the sound of your neighbours.  Ick.

I've been a customer and a vendor here, and it's a pretty little location with nice views, quaint rooms and a pretty good buffet.

The staff is by far one of the most helpful we've ever worked with.

The event hall is a bit oddly shaped, and is very crowded when the event has a larger group, but the decor is very unique and photogenic.

The ceremony site is also unique, but may have a drawback or two.  There is a VERY large water tower off to one side.  It's visually stunning, and an interesting feature. It wouldn't normally be an issue unless you have sound equipment outside. It wreaks havoc with wireless microphone systems.  This can be easily resolved by keeping the mic systems closer to the gazebo.  With a little strategic placement, the sound equipment won't be visible in photos.  The wedding I worked was close to the fourth of July.  Some people at a neighboring property were setting off loud fireworks that weren't deafening, but they were definitely audible and slightly distracting.

The food is pretty good, and the bar is well stocked.  The rooms are decent sized, (no tv's) and a small number of them have to share a bathroom as the hotel was built when that design was standard. The brunch has a good variety of fresh and well cooked food.

The parking lot is spacious, but not paved.  Ladies, have a care with your high-heeled shoes. It's a bit out of the way, but worth it for the price.

An art deco-style hotel and golf course in the Sac Delta right outside of Walnut Grove.
To get there- you can take 160 (about an hr and more scenic) or I-5 (about 45 min).
They have a $25 brunch buffet that is fairly small in quantity but quality is pretty good.
Unlimited mimosas, traditional breakfast items, really really good crispy bacon, egg puffs, ribs, roast beef, shrimp, clams, various other items.
I did not stay in the hotel, but their rooms range from $85 to around $180, and they also host weddings.

Street address is: 14340 Highway 160

I stayed here for my friends wedding last year and had a blast!  Their ceremony was down in the bar area and everything was well organized.  The food for the buffet was pretty good and the brunch the next day was nice as well, but since we all stayed at the hotel, the chef was very nice and made us homemade pizza while we all sat in the bar drinking the night away!  This is something that they usually don't do and he would have been home otherwise, so that was very cool.  The rooms were pretty small, but they were fine and there is also a really small golf course on site as well.
