    Updated - 11/21/2011 3 Check-ins Here

We got married at the Ryde on Sunday, October 2nd, and the day was absolutely everything we hoped it would be.  Our wedding was relatively small, with just over 30 guests, so we had a brunch reception.  Our ceremony was outside at the gazebo, and our reception was in the private dining room, just off the main upstairs dining room.

The ceremony space was lovely, as it has been every time we visited over the past year.  The grass was green.  The trees were still flowering pink, even in early October.  The sun was shining, which is obviously not under the Ryde's control, but my point is, it was beautiful.  The white wooden chairs were placed exactly as I had instructed.  Everything met my expectations 100%.

We took group photos at the gazebo, under the large oak tree, and down at the Ryde's private dock.  The dock is a little rickety, but the pictures turned out amazing.  The lazy Sacramento river is a beautiful backdrop to formal photos, and taking advantage of the Ryde's private dock for photos really helped us capture the delta's charm and why we chose that spot for our most special day.

We joined our guests in the private dining room for our reception, and the tables were arranged exactly as I had instructed.  Though I never asked for sure, I think the Ryde refreshed the brunch buffet just in time for our wedding guests to eat because everything tasted fresher than we have ever experienced before.  And, I don't think it was just the overwhelming wedding joy clouding our judgement about this.  Our wedding guests all complimented the food.

The service was outstanding.  We had a dedicated server for our party, and the bottomless champagne and mimosas were, in fact, bottomless.  They took care of cutting the cake, wrapping up the leftovers, and all the clean up, and they did all that for the simple price of feeding each guest.  Because the Ryde does Sunday brunch every week, there was no special set up fee, room reservation fee, catering fee, etc.  There was a 30-person minimum for the separate dining room, but the cost was only the per plate (plus tax and gratuity, of course) cost for each guest.

Overall, it was a very affordable way to have a small wedding, and we would recommend the Ryde to any couple considering a small wedding.  (They have capacity for big weddings too, so don't let my small wedding recommendation turn you off if you are looking for a big wedding venue.)

Thank you to Jan and the rest of the Ryde staff for making our wedding day perfect!

I am going back and forth between 4 and 5 stars. We just went to a wedding here Saturday and it was a breath of fresh air for the Delta. I grew up a bonafide delta rat. We had a boat, i like to ski... what more do you need? I am very familiar with this area and the culture here. Our friends chose the Ryde because it was pretty, old and a wee bit tacky. We got there a few hours early just to be there and relax. We ordered from the "bar menu" and I got fish tacos. The food was AMAZING! Im talking sauteed fish, homemade salsa! My husband had a burger, he said it was good.

The wedding was lovely. The reception was in the basement/speakeasy and it was fun. The sound was off and on, but I dont know if that is the DJs fault or the venue.

Our food took a long time to come out but I had the biggest chicken breast on my plate. It was almost intimidating. The place had made sure to put out a childs seat and a child's dinner for my daughter. We were very happy. The cheese bread they served was wicked good.

Needless to say, we're coming back for brunch soon, and thanksgiving next year. This is our new "go to" out of town destination!

The history and location of the hotel is cool. The banquet area for weddings or special events is nice as well but the rooms are beat.
Our room was a queen suite on the second floor (rm 206, I think) and the cold water handle for the bath tub fell off, it was all ready broken. The bath floor mat had a big hole in it. The window screen on one of the windows was bent. However the bed was comfortable! It is the delta by the way, everything is beat up down there.

Ok so I am a big delta fan. I have a boat and have visited the Ryde by both land and boat over many years. I have always found this hotel to be a great spot to hang out and on Sundays go for brunch.
Sadly, the hotel has recently been sold. The new owners have removed the old golf course (which wasn't much of a course), basically nice grass and pear trees. Most of the trees are gone as is the grass and foundations are being laid for something.
The biggest sad part comes from the brunch. It used to be $35, which was pricey, but the entrees were top notch, with smoked salmon, peeled shrimp, sliced beef, ham and a big selection of entrees and salads. It was a great spot with an unexpectedly gourmet brunch in the middle of the delta!
Went there 2 weeks back and the price is now $19.95, no salmon, shrimp, beef or ham, and the entree and salad selection has dwindled to a more basic breakfast buffet. You can get an omelet made for you still, but much has been removed.  You can now buy a shrimp cocktail for $8.95 with 8 smaller shrimp, as well as a couple other off the menu entrees, but it really wasn't what we were in the mood for.
The remaining food is still tasty, although I think they are using less expensive ingredients now, specifically in the quality of the bacon. Even with free champagne, it is no longer worth it to drive there and eat. Plenty of places have breakfast buffets. Go to one of them and save your gas.
Needless to say, we were hugely disappointed.

We have had brunch twice at the Ryde Hotel, New Years Day 2011 and now Easter 2011, and have enjoyed it very much both times. Love the ambiance and walking around the grounds. The food was really good but the biscuits never showed. Would've liked to have tried the biscuits with the gravy that was sitting there! But they had a nice salad table, nice selection of breakfast items, a carving table, and an omelet table. Nice selection of food, nice display. Unlimited mimosa's and champagne. They were very, very busy on Easter but the service was excellent the entire time we were there. We love the grounds so much that we are considering having our wedding here!

Supposedly my step dad is writing a book about Bootlegging in the Delta during the 1920's and this was the place he sought inspiration.  He was not disappointed and I see why.

The previous owner discovered a hidden room, and what could it have been?  A speakeasy of course.  I guess this little place in the middle of nowhere was a destination for Hollywood movie stars looking to get their drink on.

The speakeasy has since been restored, and used for dinning I think.  I have yet to use it.

The art deco isn't very authentic, but the atmosphere is unique, the rooms were very clean and the service was friendly. Plus it makes a really nice drive.

They also have a fabulous brunch on Sundays (see their website for pictures of food).  A little pricey but they do not disappoint.

It's a great weekend get away.

The town of Ryde, population 30, goes by in the blink of an eye, but I always noticed the hotel marked with tall palm trees.  Just start looking for  the trees when you pass Poverty Road.

Yes, that is a real road, where people live.

We drove out to the Ryde Hotel to meet some new friends for brunch.  There were about 18 of us, and even though we didn't have a reservation, a table was set up for us within 15 minutes.

The brunch was average, with several types of salads, an omelette station, beef, waffles, bacon, salmon, and other breakfast foods.  I wanted to try the eggs benedict, even though I heard it was dried out, but when I went to get a plate they were all gone.  The desserts were tasty - moist cakes, mousse, creme brulee, cookies, and flaky pastries.

    Brunch was 24$ per person.

The bathroom was one of the best parts.  At first I thought I'd stepped into a drag queens dressing room.  Brightly painted walls, thin willowy drapes, and sequined throws decorated the room.

There is a grand hall downstairs for weddings.  It has an endless bar, a dancing area, deco chairs, and more of the willowy drapes.  The whole scene made me think of the movie, "The Shining" when Jack Nicholson is drinking in a room full of ghosts.

I checked out the website and the rooms seem to be well priced.  They have no telephones, no TVs and no air conditioning so there won't be anything to drown out the sound of your neighbours.  Ick.

I've been a customer and a vendor here, and it's a pretty little location with nice views, quaint rooms and a pretty good buffet.

The staff is by far one of the most helpful we've ever worked with.

The event hall is a bit oddly shaped, and is very crowded when the event has a larger group, but the decor is very unique and photogenic.

The ceremony site is also unique, but may have a drawback or two.  There is a VERY large water tower off to one side.  It's visually stunning, and an interesting feature. It wouldn't normally be an issue unless you have sound equipment outside. It wreaks havoc with wireless microphone systems.  This can be easily resolved by keeping the mic systems closer to the gazebo.  With a little strategic placement, the sound equipment won't be visible in photos.  The wedding I worked was close to the fourth of July.  Some people at a neighboring property were setting off loud fireworks that weren't deafening, but they were definitely audible and slightly distracting.

The food is pretty good, and the bar is well stocked.  The rooms are decent sized, (no tv's) and a small number of them have to share a bathroom as the hotel was built when that design was standard. The brunch has a good variety of fresh and well cooked food.

The parking lot is spacious, but not paved.  Ladies, have a care with your high-heeled shoes. It's a bit out of the way, but worth it for the price.

An art deco-style hotel and golf course in the Sac Delta right outside of Walnut Grove.
To get there- you can take 160 (about an hr and more scenic) or I-5 (about 45 min).
They have a $25 brunch buffet that is fairly small in quantity but quality is pretty good.
Unlimited mimosas, traditional breakfast items, really really good crispy bacon, egg puffs, ribs, roast beef, shrimp, clams, various other items.
I did not stay in the hotel, but their rooms range from $85 to around $180, and they also host weddings.

Street address is: 14340 Highway 160

No A/C during a wedding reception when it was 104 outside.  Yes.  That happened last Sunday.  People left early during the wedding reception because the basement where the wedding was held did not have any working A/C.  The A/C was supposed to happen, but it just didn't work out.  For that reason alone I would give the place one star.  However, the Ryde Hotel is pretty nice should everything work out.

The wedding was also held at Ryde Hotel and in back which had a very muddy area.  In fact, the whole ground area was very wet.  Not very helpful for a wedding.  During the wedding rehearsal the ground was not wet and muddy.  Despite the wet ground the back area was very pretty.

The basement of the hotel used to be a bona fide speakeasy during Prohibition.  Folks would come out and get drink and maybe escape through a secret tunnel that went over to the river (safety hazard!  that means tunneling under the levy).  Rad.  Prohibition was dumb.  Speakeasies were cool.

If the pretty accommodations and the cool history didn't exist I would give this place one star.  If the A/C worked I would give this place three stars.

Got married here in May of 2010 after years of going to the Ryde for brunch on Sundays. It was always a nice treat to go and enjoy the constantly-refilled champagne and delicious brunch items.

I went through the typical groom situation of worrying weeks in advance about what could go wrong. Every possibility ran through my mind and I was expecting something to go wrong and had accepted it. Imagine my surprise. Despite less than great weather and a couple minor snafus (that were NOT the Ryde's fault), it was a great wedding and reception that my family and friends will be talking about for a very long time. They allowed us to customize the wedding just how we wanted it and assisted as much as possible when we needed help. Everything went perfectly. Beautiful setup, great food, I cannot thank the Ryde enough for the job they did making my wedding day an amazing and unforgettable event. Most people have some funny story about things going wrong on their wedding day, I have nothing but warm memories of a fantastic experience. Though I no longer live in the area, the Ryde will always mean a lot to me.

My 2nd time at Ryde and wasn't really disappointed.  The service is excellent, they make sure you're taken care of and check on you regularly.  The seating outside is nice, it's near the road, but there's not a ton of cars in this off the beaten track so it's nice.  The hotel is a historic site so that's a plus, if you have little ones, it's a good educational trip along with some good food.

Ok..so on to the review!  The food is good, brunch is ~$23 per person, so it's not a bad deal, that includes the buffet and coffee, orange juice, soda, mimosas so it's not too shabby.  The brunch must vary, because the first time we went, there were better/more selections.  This last time we had brunch the selection was OK.

There was sausages, bacon, eggs benedict, various fruits, cheeses, salmon, fresh sliced roast beef and ham, french toast sticks, omelets made to order (and you don't have to stand there with your plate like you're begging for your food...they actually bring your omelet to your table! ) There's also shrimp cocktail, pasta salad, salad and a fairly small dessert area.

All in all, the food is about a 3.5 stars out of 5...the service is a 4 out of 5 and all in all exeperience......3.5 / 4 stars....would I go back, sure!  But it is a bit of a drive.....if you want to try something different, go to Ryde...it's a neat place to visit and like I said, the food is good and the service is great.  Word of advice, if you do go here on a holiday (i.e. Mother's Day or Easter)....make reservations!  It can be really crowded!

Oh...almost forgot, there's a cute little mini golf course which is part of the hotel, it's cute for the kids and there's a bunch of pear trees...so quaint!  :)

We had our wedding here last weekend.  This is an amazing wedding venue.  The staff really goes out of their way to make sure that your day is perfect.  They are incredibly easy to work with.  The hotel has a ton of charm and great places for photos.  Our photographer had never been here and was incredibly excited to be photographing the facility when she previewed it.  They are really flexible with their packages (we didn't want a cake, for example).  Bottom line: you will not regret booking with them.

One of my favorite Delta River Destinations.  Great place to meet  a friend for a drink or brunch or dinner.  The bar tender aims to please I might add. And yes, in the 20's it was a "Speak Easy" complete with a window with a sliding wooden door to see who was on the other side.  We used to go here in the 70's for dancing and drinking(My college crazy days-long gone!)  It's still a great place to visit for lunch, brunch or dinner...a Delta Get-a-Way.  Why not go.....Today?

The brunch at the Ryde Hotel is for those very special occasions with special people.  The food was delicious, especially the Strawberry French Toast and the Biscuits they make for the "biscuits and gravy".  It's a $30p/p AYCE brunch w/ unlimited Champagne or Mimosas so go on an empty stomach so you can fill it up.  The service was fantastic too! We got lots of attention from our mimosa glasses and coffee cups being full at all times.  This is a good place to start a nice annual holiday or Easter brunch tradition with family or friends.

I attended my neice's wedding yesterday 8/8/10 and although the atmosphere was very nice it was very disappointing to see her in tears when several of her guests did not receive their salads due to the "brunch function earlier in the day" stated some of the staff. No airconditioning, no fans near the dance floor I was extremely exhausted from the heat and when the plated food finally arrived everything had slid to one side of the plate.....it was handled very unprofessional and was not presented correctly. I had asked the bartender if he had a tray so I could bus our table to clear some of the debris from the couple that had left half-way through dinner, and he responded that someone would take care of it and to my surprise when I had returned to the table some of the dishware had been removed but the beer bottles next to where I was sitting were still there and I was disgusted and my food was cold as well.
My neice and her husband spent over 9,000 for a party of 100 and this was definitely not worth it. I will not recommend this for a wedding party, but the music was great!!!!!!

Dinner at the Ryde is worth a 30 minute drive from Sacramento.  Heck, it's less than ten minutes for us which makes it a great option.  Embarassed to say that even Delta locals often forget that the Ryde is a great dining option.  Sure, sitting outside in the summer, or attending an event out back in nice weather makes for the best Ryde experience, but a Saturday night dinner or Sunday brunch is pretty darn good.

The owners are a big part of the experience too.  Met Cathy recently, but have know her business partner Jan for a few years.  Both are nice people and are genuinely happy to talk to guests.

Food was very good (we are three foodies who have fairly high expectations).  Menu is limited (pre fixe).  Beverages are good too (we brought our own wine and the corkage was more than reasonable).

Had a late Valentines Day brunch, this was our first visit.  Service was good.  Coffee cup and mimosa glasses were never empty, plates were quickly removed, very pleasant wait staff.  Food was extremely disappointing.  Roast beef had not a hint of pink.  It was tough and flavorless.  Eggs Benedict were rubbery, even the english muffin.  And the sauce...well wasn't at all saucy.  We were there 20 minutes after they started serving and they had already dried out in the serving dish. Boring pastries...a mini banana muffin and an itty bitty slice of pound cake. Decor was just sad. A stray purple statis in a vase with a shiny red valentine spray for a centerpiece. Ladies room,  woven waste basket spray painted silver...looked kinda cheesy.  Oh, and the plunger in the ornately draped stall didn't help either.

My husband and I were married here on 7/7/07. How could I forget to review The Ryde?! Recent events have made me come to realize just how wonderful our whole experience was from beginning to end. So much so, that I still appreciate it almost 4 years later. Jan and her staff are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, even though I planned the whole thing in 4 weeks! They know what customer service is, how to meet your needs, and they understand how special of an occasion a wedding is! (Since most of us only want to do it once and get it right the first time!!) The hotel has a 1920's nostalgic feel to it, and even though there's no elevator OR air conditioning (which was important to know with a July wedding!) they just don't make hotels like this anymore! Our ceremony was in back at the outdoor gazebo, and our reception was in the hall upstairs. The size was perfect for our 75+ guest wedding complete with full bar. There are only 2 weddings per Saturday, so plan in advance! (Lucky for us, there was a last-minute cancellation!) Stay for Sunday brunch (buffet, and by reservation) and you won't be disappointed. We try to go back at least once a year to relive it all. Thanks so much Jan, our wedding was beautiful, and I HIGHLY recommend anyone planning a special event at this venue. (P.S. I have a TON of wedding pics if you'd like to see them,  feel free to message me! All of the pics I uploaded are courtesy of thee best wedding photographer ever, Erik Frank. http://www.erikfranksp...)

I got married at the Ryde recently and have to say I was incredibly impressed with the Ryde as a wedding venue.  I am extremely type A and was in contact with the Ryde daily in the weeks prior to the wedding.  Jan was amazingly accommodating to all my requests and together with Natalie ensured the wedding went exactly as planned  despite an unexpected heat wave.  Randy did a great job communicating with me about my guests hotel bookings and ensured that everyone who needed a room got one.  The garden looked beautiful on the day of the wedding and the staff made sure that the speakeasy was set up according to my wishes.  They even changed to lights to make sure they would all light up for the dinner/dancing portion of the evening.  Drinks were passed during cocktail hour not only to the guests but also to the entire bridal party waiting to be photographed on the lawn.  Attention to details like this made it so that everyone had a great time and so that I didn't have to worry about anything the day of the wedding.  The dinner was excellent and my compliments to the chef for creating the BBQ atmosphere and food I requested.  It was perfect.  The rest of the evening was equally well done.  The cake was better than we expected and looked beautiful.  The bartenders were super friendly and helpful.  The entire evening went as well as we could have hoped.  If you are considering getting married in the delta I highly recommend the Ryde.  The prices are fair and the staff excellent.  I didn't need a wedding planner because Jan and Natalie are so helpful.  Our guests loved the setting and thought the food/service was great.  The kids loved the pool!  Thank you for such a magical and memorable wedding.  We will be back for many brunches and dinners in the years to come.

We just recently had our wedding at the Ryde Hotel and it was a great time! Jan and her staff were very accommodating and both the ceremony and reception went smoothly. The ceremony was held in their beautiful garden gazebo area which was well maintained and in great shape. The reception was held on the outdoor patio (which was recently remodeled) and inside the old speakeasy portion downstairs. The seating and dancing area were organized perfectly and the entire facility was awesome. The food at the reception was very good, and the service we received was excellent! The chef even stayed up to make us pizza in the wee hours of the morning! Thanks for a great time and we look forward to visiting in the future!

We planned a bicycle trip through the Delta - there seemed to be only three hotels available along the way and we chose the Ryde hotel. We weren't sure about it - but liked the speak easy angel. We arrived around 6pm on Saturday to a 3 piece Jazz band playing on the patio as the sun set - pretty awesome. The hotel was not very full so they upgraded our room and we had a nice view of the river. The rooms are charming and unassuming and have lovely little details without making the rooms spendy.   We walked the grounds before dinner - it really seemed set up for weddings in the backyard, but not so much for just lingering casually. The bartender/waitress was very friendly and engaging, but let us have our romantic night. The Band was charming and entertaining. The dinner was a better than expected - $25 three courses - nice tomato salad with polenta, main courses were all meat - I had the steak with mashed potatoes and veggies. the veggies were fresh and the potatoes had nice flavor. The meat was to be expected - not grass fed beef but manageable.  We skipped the brunch but there were about 5 or 6 tables. I would come here for the service and experience, and eat the food while experiencing them.

My family has gone to the Ryde over the years for brunch and just to  stop in for a drink while visiting the Delta area. We went there for Mother's Day 2010 and not sure I will be back.  We were put downstairs, since it was raining and there was no room in the main dining room.  We had made reservations.  We didn't mind at first, but it wasn't the nicest brunch experience for the price ($35 pp).  A few of us ordered coffee and it was served to us in a paper cup with no explanation or offer to find us a proper cup.  I don't mind drinking out of paper cups, but when I'm paying $35 for my meal I would like a glass cup!  The food was average and not as good as other brunches we've had here.  The service downstairs was very disjointed with a lot of servers setting the tables and not checking in with their table and constantly forgetting what we just asked for. We had to flag down waiters and ask numerous times for coffee, water and OJ...not very good service at all!  I've decided I'm not going back.
