Love Ruth's Chris!
For the most part I follow a vegetarian diet but for my husband is a major meat eater and it was his Birthday. Our table had Birthday confetti on it, thanks for recognizing the special occasion!
The service is excellent, from the valet, hostesses, wait staff and even the GM walking around to check on tables and ensure satisfaction. My son ordered a coke and wanted cherries in it so they brought him a plate full of them so he could make his own cherry coke, I love that they took care of him so well.
I had the most excellent grilled portobello plate, the creme of spinach was delightful - perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth creamy. So were all the other sides we ordered. All the drinks were excellent and the wine selection was great, we found the perfect one to compliment our varied meals.
Definitely recommend this place. It may be a bit pricey but they also offer a meal for $39.99 that included steak, and two sides so you can enjoy the wonderful food & service at a reasonable price.
We came here for the special promotion they had going on. It was our anniversary, and they had decorated our table with rose petals, cute!!
Food was as expected. Steak was cooked to order and tasted liked it was soaked in butter. Super stuffed! Great promotion and dinner for two. We even had to take our dessert home. I can't say I was a fan of the deserts they offered... but all in all, we were satisfied!
I love this place! Everything tastes like it was cooked in butter!!! So yummy!
The filet mignon is always a great choice here! And all the sides, mashed potatoes, asparagus, spinach, etc are all great!
I come here every now and again when I feel like biting into the steak bullet and paying $150 for 2!
So delish though!
The service was great, but I always find their food being just O.K. It's a lot and you feel completely stuffed walking out the door, but do I have that satisfaction of "that was a great steak!" Not so much.
Dinner here never disappoints. We celebrated my birthday with friends who had never been. There is nothing like seeing their eyes light up at first bite. I knew we had a winner!
While the food is in a relm all it's own, the service we receive is equally impressive. I have been fortunate to have Ann Marie serve our table the last couple of visits. She is super pleasant. Although you know she has to say the same thing many times a day, she always has a smile.
We have had slip ups happen. Every once in a while they grab the wrong steak from the grill, not done to your liking. However, the always bend over backwards to make it right. You never feel like you are inconveniencing them.
So, my suggestions ...
For Starters:
Calamari (is a bit sweet, but that's the way I like it!)
Lobster Bisque
Sides:
Creamed Spinach
Sweet Potato Casserole
Main Entree:
T-Bone (Medium Rare)
It's a lot of food, so come hungry! We left extremely happy with our friends thanking us for an introduction to another great eatery.
We booked our return visit before we left -- Thanksgiving Dinner anyone?
Food, service, location, parking, atmosphere, appearance:
Great, pleasantly entertaining, great, alright, absolutely a memorable early chirstmas gift exchanged event for my best friends and myself, great!
Only a hundred fifty per a person @ a steak house! How fly is dat yo?!
Love this place. Been here three times now and it is always a reliable choice for VERY good steaks.
Hard to re-create this at home... but you can come close if you know your way around a skillet and broiler.
But when I don't feel like smoking my house out I pony up the money for the two of us to enjoy a nice evening at Ruth's Chris.
I typically order the Cowboy (Bone-in Rib-Eye) and my Fiancee has had the Boneless Rub-Eye the New York and the Filet Mignon.
Our favorite side is the Broiled Tomatoes.
But DO NOT expect to walk out cheaply AND remember THIS IS A STEAKHOUSE first and foremost.
Salt and Pepper, Seared at 1800 degrees and dropped on a 500 degree plate? How is this not perfection?
Always has a great atmosphere. I went there with a party of (4) total & all of our steaks were undercooked. The side dishes looked like they were sitting around for a while before they were served to us. Very disappointing considering the price of the meal. I have eaten there a half dozen times prior with great success. This was my latest visit & hopefully not a trend of things to come. 4 stars given for the previous success of the meals.
My wife too me there for my birthday here. The service is wonderful. Very classy, elegant and romantic atmosphere. The window overlooks downtown Walnut creek. Now about the food. WE got the their signature filet butterfly cut steak served in sizzling plate of butter and the NY steak. It was pretty good. I had very high expectations due to the price. While the steaks were very good, I though their filet was a bit too "bloody" tasting. Now I get medium rare steak all the time and it's not like they undercooked it. The NY steak was cooked to perfection. They did give me a free dessert and decorated the table since it was my birthday. Again, top notch service and above average steak. We did feel very unhealthy after eating all that butter. I guess it's only meant for special occasions.
Steak Heaven!!!
They did my medium-rare Rib-Eye perfectly...so juicy and flavourful and tender...I am getting hungry just writing this all down.
The black napkin for my friend in the black dress was a nice touch to avoid lint.
I went a la carte, but my fellow diners chose the Summer Special Menu, which came in huge portions! They are just as big as ordering regularly off the menu (I wasn't keen on salad or dessert, just wanted my steak, hence why I didn't order the special). They also let you upgrade your dessert for something like $3, from what is given on the special menu to anything of your choosing.
Also had were the filet, the New York strip, and the halibut. All were delicious. The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes are awesome...didn't think I'd say that about creamed spinach, but it was so good! Desserts [chocolate cake, creme brulee] were lovely as well.
Definitely would come back for a special occasion! :)
Stay away from the Sea Bass! I shoulda' known not to order fish at an upscale steak house, but was looking for a change from beef this night. Our party of 6 came here to celebrate a birthday dinner. This was about my third time here. The atmosphere and views are decent, as were my prior visits. Nearly everyone ordered something from the Prix Fixe menu. Me and brother ordered the Sea Bass. First course Steak House salads were great and came fast. Be especially careful of apetizer and entree plates that are baked at 300+ degrees and will easily scald you. 30-40 min. then passed before we received our entrees. Both sea bass entrees were cold like they had been sitting for several minutes. Even my mashed potato side was cold. Waiter asked if everything was O.K.? I asked him if this entree is supposed to be served cold? He responded that the plate is supposed to be cool, but not the food. Huh? I can't eat the plate. We sent the entrees back, but when they came again, they were still cold. The small bite I took tasted like a Swanson's T.V. dinner fish entree. Yikes. We're not hungry anymore. Must be said that the other 4 people in our party loved their meals and I wish I would've ordered the 6 oz. petite Prix Fixe steak as it looked wonderful. Maitre' D came out and apologized profusely and credited bill with 70% of the price of both the entrees. Overall service was slightly below average as the dining room eventually got crowded on this Tuesday evening. I decided on this review to give balance to all the other previous outstanding reviews. Even Ruth Chris can mess things sometimes. I'll likely return, but know better not to order anything but the steaks next time. BTW, parking is free across the street in the underground Barnes & Noble garage.
We spent a good friend's birthday dinner here three years ago. The ribeye steak is just what I asked for, medium, slightly salty for my taste, but everyone else on the table is satisfied with theirs. I love the side dishes, shoestring, tempura onion rings and creamed spinach. For dessert, I had Warm Apple Crumb Tart, I liked it.
The place is a little fancy, not too pretentious, but I'd still dress up to match the restaurant's delightful ambience.
I was impressed with the Ruth's Chris Steak House in Walnut Creek. The last time I went (two years ago at the SF location on van ness), I was utterly dissapointed with both the service and the food. Here, the service was eh, but the food was a bit better than I remembered.
We went with our parents, and they made us stand and wait for at least 15 minutes, which is not cool. The place was empty and they kept rudely telling us "we're taking care of your table, OK?" and go back to chit chatting. Really? Really?
The food, on the other hand, was better than the host. The creamed spinich was delich, and both moms got the summer time pre fixe meal that turned out to be a great deal. They got a salad, a good portion of filet/shrimp, a side dish and a dessert. The salad/soup was good, the main and sides were good, the dessert was pretty lame.
I got the filet, which I asked to be cooked medium-rare; came out medium-well. Not a huge fan of well-cooked meat. I probably will go back here again if I had to (gathering, etc), but I am probably not going back here otherwise.
Spent my entire paycheck here, but it was worth every penny. Butter makes everything better! And you minus well call their crab cakes " a pile of crab" because I've never had some with so much crab in it before.
We came here for our Anniversary dinner. The staff was amazing and everyone who walked by our table wished us a Happy Anniversary. They even put rose petals on the table before we arrived. The food was fantastic and the portions were huge. I've never seen a plate that was hot enough to boil butter. Yum.
I had our wedding cake top recreated as a surprise to my hubby and Ruth's allowed me to drop it off early. They held it for us and presented it as our dessert. My hubby was thrilled. Then they even took it to the back and cut it for us. And they didn't charge us anything extra for all the work they did. We were very impressed.
Overall, a fantastic experience.
Came here on mother's day and then a month later for diner. The service was great and waiters were attentive. However, the food was good but pricey. Overall, if you have the money to spend, it is worth an experience; if not, there are other restaurants w/ similar quality food for its price and value. Location is not easily noticeable because it is located on the second floor of the building next to Cheese Cake Factory.
The restaurant obviously does pretty well considering the amount of competition surrounding the area.
Went to Ruth's Chris with some cowerkers visiting from out of town as one had never been. The BBQ shrimp was great and even got the approval from the FL resident in the group, a man who knows his BBQ shrimp. The help was friendly and the wait was short. And they made my vodka and tonics nice and strong which is always appreciated.
I've got to give it up to Ruth's Chris in the Dub-C. This place is like meat-eater heaven.
First of all, whenever I'm at a restaurant and the first thing a waiter asks me is whether or not I would like to sample the suggested wines, that's a thumbs up from me. Second of all, when you have not one, not two, but four (count that: one-two-three-four) members of the wait-staff at the table to take your order and serve the table, that is not only how to earn yourself a fatty tip but also a great way to make me feel like a princess. :)
Everything here is served a la carte, so expect the bill to rack up mighty fast, but if you choose to order anything, make sure you get a side of the scalloped potatoes, it's like cheesy, carb goodness.
This place is delicious, it is expensive, but the food is worth it and it lacks the snobbery of other Walnut Creek locales. Definitely a worthwhile restaurant to check out.
I am a pescatrian and I loved this place. I recently went for a girlfriends' birthday and we had a blast. Loved the crab cakes, stuffed mushrooms, and onion rings. The waiter was friendly and all the staff cater to your needs. The bartender even did a dance for us as he made the birthday girl a drink. For dinner I had the crusted halibut with mushrooms and a mixed green salad with asparagus, Definitely yummy. We sat at a table next to a long time customer who brought our table dessert plate for the birthday celebration. All the desserts were to die for.
We are going back ASAP!
NOM! NOM! NOM! I took my parents here for their birthday dinners. Yeah, both of their birthdays - their birthdays are within a week of each other. But we actually came here on a recommendation from my cousin who took his parents here, though I had heard about this chain restaurant before.
This location is on the second floor of a building - but fear not, you can't miss it. There is a lovely sign over the door. You can either take the elevator or the stairs. You then check in with the hostess, and she tells you it will be a couple of minutes.
(sidenote). I am not sure how busy it is normally, but on the Saturday night that we were there, it was quite busy (though it didn't seem busy because the service was EXCELENT). Though I had made reservation earlier that day around noon, and the reservation I got was the 7:45pm one. They also ask you if you're celebrating a special occasion. "Birthday" When they asked, I was expecting they were going to sing a song like at Chevy's but no...Ruth's Chris is was CLASSIER than that. There was CONFETTI on the table. And I believe if you're celebrating an anniversary, there are rose petals.
My family each ordered the "Summer Special Thingy..." which comes with a salad of your choice, entree, side, and dessert.
Everything was delicious. They also give fresh, warm bread, and I mean warm. Yummy. We had two aspargus salads, one house salad, two new york strips, one filet, one creamed spinch, one green beans, one mushroom, and three desserts (raspberry sorbet in an edible chocolate cup with a berry creme thing) on are table.
I defiently recommend this place for special occassions.
This review is dedicated to The Steak Fan. If you haven't had the chance to experience dining in this establishment then you must! Steak lovers will and do savor steak heaven with one of their signature steaks. Steaks that are carefully selected and aged to ensure tenderness. These steaks are cut thick and seared to perfection and then topped with butter to enhance the flavor of the steak itself. Can we say Mmmmm!
The salad creations here are good, I haven't had one that I didn't like.
They do offer a variety of menu entrees besides steak but I personally have not ordered anything but steak here. Side dishes that are always good with steak are the Sauteed Mushrooms in butter and their Sauteed Fresh Spinach. Ofcourse one must have a potatoe with their meat, personally I LOVE their Sweet Potatoe Casserole with pecan crust. Yummy!!
If you're a chocolate lover...Chocolate Sin Cake should be your choice:) for dessert. If you're an apple pie lover then ofcourse you must have their Warm Apple Crumb Tart topped with vanilla ice cream.
Bring a full wallet.
OH MY GOSH. All I can say is that if I had to pick one restaurant to eat at for the rest of my life Ruth's Chris would be it!
For any "special" occasion I can think of I come here! Every time I come I get the fillet- it is so amazing I can't venture to anything else. The last few times I have ordered the blue cheese crust over it and every bite is absolutely amazing, the flavor is incredible and it is cooked perfectly! I love that it comes out sizzling hot in a bath of buttery goodness.
Last time I also had a salad on a bed of asparagus and green beans (& shared my fiance's share of garlic mashed potatoes)- everything was fabulous. Also, if I had to suggest a cocktail, I LOVE the cherrytini (black cherry effin, cranberry juice, and lime juice).
I only hope I can come back soon.
Since Ruth's Chris is a chain steak restaurant (albeit an upscale one), I had previously been to a Ruth's Chris restaurant outside the Bay Area that did NOT impress. My steak was forgettable, but what was unforgettable was the slab of butter that was still on my steak when it was brought to the table. Sure, it was melting happily, and sure, steak at a steakhouse is always slathered in butter. However, I was genuinely puzzled by why there was a half-melting slab of butter on my steak - especially since the steak itself was already sitting in a pool of melted butter on the plate.
Anyways, it was with much trepidation that I stepped into Ruth's Chris in Walnut Creek. Long story short, my steak was perfectly done. There was no half-melting slabs of butter anywhere in sight. In fact, everything I had that night was SUPERB. If I was on death row, this would have been my last meal.
We started off with a shrimp appetizer, calamari, salad, lobster bisque. The bread was superb and was used to mop up every drop of the intensely flavored lobster bisque. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the calamari had a sweet glaze that set it apart from other fried calamari. (I still preferred a non-glazed calamari with lots of lemon although I understand that's not everybody's preference.)
The steak - we all seemed to have ordered the bone-in ribeye - was rich, decadent, well-seasoned, and robustly flavored. Wow!
Dessert is also decadent, and to be honest, a meal in themselves. Portions are huge and the flavors are very big. The apple crumb looked like a football of ice cream, pastry, and apple sauce. The cheesecake was not a SLICE, each portion was a mini-cheesecake.
All in all, be prepared to eat a LOT here, but also be prepared to have your senses indulge in an evening of rich flavors. It is worth that additional 500 hours on the treadmill to burn off one evening's dinner!
Another thank you to Dine About Town! =)
I'm always in search of a great steak, so I've been wanting to come here for a while. And what entree did I have to pick?
THE RIB EYE: Of course! =) Great rib eye that comes on a heated plate. Nice a juicy and cooked a perfect medium rare. You can even get their steaks with a blue cheese or crab crust. Of course you have to pay a little extra for those! My boy cheese got his blue cheese crusted. Yum. We shared it. =)
Creamed Spinach (Side): Can't complain. Not too salty and not too creamy. =)
Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes (Side): MMM. Garlic anything is great. =D I wished there was more garlic flavor in it, but it was still tasty.
Bread Pudding: Cute single serving of bread pudding. Looks like it was cooked in its own little cup versus being cut from one big one. The sauce for it was the best. =) Lots of vanilla flavor! I loved it!
Key Lime Pie: I'm normally not a fan of key lime pie because it's too tart but this one was actually pretty good. =) Eating the pie with the small amount of whipped cream on it balanced out the tart flavor. I'll still choose my bread pudding over key lime pie though. =P
Service here was great! Our waiter even gave one dessert (my friend didn't order from the DAT menu), my coffee and dessert shots on the house. Anything on the house is awesome!
I can't wait to go back someday. =)
Expensive... But worth it if its for a special occassion... The steak there is by far the best in the area. My husbands favorite restaurant. We always get the crab cakes, shoe string patatoes, cream spinach and the RIBEYE steak yummy..and we always end up bring a bunch of food home because the steak is huge!
i love Ruth's Chris, especially this location in Walnut Creek.
The ambience and service are half of what you pay for, and you will not be disappointed. The steaks are served sizzling hot with butter, which sounds rich but tastes amazing! The sides are delicious too- try the creamed spinach and the au gratin potatoes. My favorite steak here is the ribeye (my boyfriend fancies the Cowboy cut ribeye- it's huge) with mushrooms or the blue cheese crust. For dessert try the caramelized banana cream pie- it's served in a flaky pastry crust with white chocolate/banana custard and caramelized bananas on top.
I love Ruth's Chris for a special occasion dinner. It's not your after-work weeknight steakhouse, and your bill proves it. Although, I'm not saying it's not worth it. It totally, definitely, is. Save it for celebrating something, or someone, special.
I LOVE Ruth's Chris! This was my third visit (first time to this location but have been to the ones in San Francisco and Maui). Upon making the reservation I was asked if we were celebrating anything. Yes, two birthdays and an anniversary. When we arrived, our table was decorated with red rose petals and metallic birthday confetti. Great touch!
The service was top notch.. professional, yet not stuffy. Our water glasses were consistently topped off, we never ran out of hot bread, and from start to finish everything went perfectly.
The food: I can honestly say this was THE BEST STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD.. HANDS DOWN! I ordered the petite fillet with shrimp. Both were cooked to perfection. The fillet melted like butter in my mouth and was bursting with flavor. Everyone at the table raved about their meals as well. We shared two desserts for the four of us and we were not charged for them. They were yummy!
So why four stars, instead of five? Well, my $10 bloody mary had a very light pour.. very, very light. For $10 I would expect a pretty generous pour... That seemed to be the general thought from everyone at the table.. light pours all around.
Two other reasons are keeping me from giving this location a 5 star rating: first, the sink I used in the ladies room had no hot water (BIG ICK!!!).
Second, Ruth's Chris' dress code is 'business casual to dressy', yet this is not enforced. We dressed up to come out for a special evening. While some other customers were also looking their best, it was very disappointing to see people with jeans (you can dress jeans up.. I'm talking dirty sneakers, old jeans and a t-shirt..), the guy with the sideways baseball cap and gang banger duds (c'mon guys, take your hats off inside!) and the couple who clearly just got off their Harley who were wind blown and dressed to paint their living room. I wish Ruth's Chris would enforce their dress code!!
I'm happy to give RC 5 stars if the cocktails are a bit stronger, the sinks have hot water, and the dress code is enforced. I want to come back.. prove me wrong.. show me you can earn the 5 star rating you should be getting!
I have dined here before but since we tried the fixed price menu at Flemings, we had to try it here. I found it to be a great value for the money. We all left very full and pleased. The warm, soft bread before dinner is addictive to us carbo-philes.
Each of us got the caesar salad, petit filet with prawns, side of mashed potatoes and chocolate mousse. It was great! I will definitely be back again.
Good steaks.
But, a little too buttery.
Sing it with me! Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...
My first review of the year is dedicated to a few of my favorite things, and by that I mean Filet, Ribeye, Cowboy Ribeye, New York Steak and T-bone. My college boys were in town and it's so hard to get the peeps together since well one of them lives in Tokyo.
I'm feeling kind of meh about going here since I went to the SF one and was hugely disappointed, but coming here it was so good. Ok firstly I am an hour late, but I already know what I want. I call my friend and make him order me a cowboy ribeye, because that is the dreamy "hello world I love living" kind of cut.
I get there and the service is impeccable the restaurant itself was hard to find because it was just a door with this stairway to the world of meat. Unbeknownst to me before my arrival my boys had already forewarned the other diners in our group that I could literally inhale a steak in 10 mins. By the time I got there everyone was halfway done with their steaks, but while they were chatting yes, I did the super humanly feat of finishing the entire cowboy ribeye in 10 mins and was already caught up to the rest of the group for dessert.
The thing was the meat was SOOOo good here. It was tender and the medium rare was so delicious. Of course I love this cut as my favorite all cuts because the bone in makes it so tender and not to mention fatty, which is really the only way to eat meat. I was totally impressed with the meat at this place. The sides were meh. But the dessert also was good. I think we ordered everything on the menu. The chocolate lava cake was soft, not too sweet and served with ice cream. It was a most delicious din.
Even if I finished it entirely in 20 mins.
Let's get it out of the way: It's horribly expensive.
But, the quality is unquestioned and is consistent. So, if you really really want great steaks and, just maybe, to impress someone - this is a great choice.
I went once with friends, left stuffed (petit filet, sweet potatoes, spinach, wine) and - on the ride home - my wife and I agreed that it was expensive but worth it. No regrets.
Later, as a celebration, I brought my department there and let the company pick up the tab. The service was congenial, professional, helpful - and the food was just as good as I'd expected. I had the petit filet w/blue cheese, and we all shared the various sides.
So, you don't go here every week - or even every month - but when you go, you know what you're getting: perfection of its own sort.
I heard my fiance rave and rave and rave about the one in SF? SJ? Whatever. Anyway, for his 26th birthday, his family took us out to eat at this location.
Ok, it was WAY too dark in the restaurant. I ordered the lamb and got three little riblets. Even though I wasn't paying, I was pissed off that my future MIL and FIL had to shell out $38 for my lamb gristle. I actually had to rip off hunks of gristle to get to the meat. Seriously, $38... the acutal lamb meat that was on the bone and wasn't fat or gristle added up was realtive to the size of a piece of bazooka bubble gum.
I can cook better food at home.
The mushrooms are good but I grew up on ones that were just like it that, but better, that my mom made.
My hubby and I had reservations at noon for lunch on Valentine's Day this year. We've been here before, but it was so long ago, we couldn't remember the details...
All-in-all, EXCELLENT place! We will be returning here for my hubby's bday in April (per his request).
We were seated right away in the back room (much quieter and not too bright, which is what I like for a more "romantic" feel). The waitress caught me off guard when she asked if I would like a dark napkin to go with my dark clothing. I didn't get it at first, but she explained that sometimes the white napkin will leave white lint on dark pants. So that's a plus right there.
We ordered the Ruth's Classics ($39.95 per person):
Me - Caesar Salad, 6 oz filet & shrimp, mashed potatoes
Him - Seafood gumbo, stuffed chicken, creamed spinach
Our meals came with just one choice for dessert, which was some kind of vanilla custard with berries and chocolate mousse. I was disappointed about having only one choice for dessert at first (cuz i have a sweet tooth), but I was definitely not disappointed after dessert arrived. Both were absolutely delicious, especially the vanilla custard. I wish I had a bigger serving! I ended up "cleaning up" my hubby's custard when he was finished, haha...
OK, I know I'm typing this out of order, but you'll still get the information from me.
We loved EVERYTHING we ate. We even loved the bread that comes with the meal. We ordered another loaf of bread when we were finished. The bread came out so warm and moist, it was so good with the butter. In addition to our 3-course meal, we ordered the stuffed crab mushrooms too. Those were really good. It was $12, but it comes with 4 pretty big mushroom caps and they were yummy.
I usually don't finish my meat (filet) when I order it in restaurants, but this medium-well filet was soooo good! So tender and flavorful.
Staff pluses:
*Our main waitress and her serving assistant were very friendly and very attentive.
*The manager walked around to each table when he noticed people were served their entrees and asked how everything was. Of course, no complaints at our table. He also stopped by again when he noticed we were leaving, and thanked us for dining with them today. I love that when managers get involved with the customers.
OK. So obviously, this was an EXCELLENT experience on all levels and aspects of dining, and I am thinking it was so excellent because it was Valentine's Day so everyone probably stepped up their game. BUT, like I said, we have been there before and are confident that we received about the same good level of customer service. When my hubby and I come back for his bday dinner in April, I will Yelp again to let you know if any changes :-)
Took my lovely wife here for her b-day, upon request.
The room was smaller than I imagined, this being my first time at the WC location. But we definitely liked the cozy, tucked in feel.
I specified on our online reservation that this would be a b-day celebration, and they appropriately had some confetti sprinkled on the table. No biggie, but nice touch!
Filet for each of us, and I had the current special for winter '08, filet with stuffed lobster tail for $40. Garlic mash and creamed spinach sides, apple tart for dessert. All delicious.
I've reviewed two other RC locations, and loved them both. Long story short here, it's refreshing when you can count on consistent product and service with every visit. It's reassuring when you know that the little extra you pay for a good meal will be well spent. Solid location.
Oh, and BYO wine... corkage is only $15.
On Friday My lady and I made reservations for 2 at this location for our 3 year anniversary.Street parking was easy but the 2nd floor location was a bit leery of the long narrow stairway and the front desk manager. When we arrived they tried to seat us in the back room where it was very noisy! No way buddy! So I asked for a booth and she said it would be an hour wait but my girlfriend pointed to the second table at the window, empty!
She said it wasn't set up and what do you know someone was comming with the plates, glasses and silverware! What I wanted to hear form any good host is, "No problem we'll have that set right up for you!" .
Very short of 5 star service from the host. After being seated the service was good once past the frigid lady at the front, I give the front 3 Stars. The waiters were very nice, give them 5 Stars.
The Coke and Creme Brulée were free =)
2 $16 dollar glasses of red wine.
Stuffed Mushrooms
Jumbo Blue Crab Cakes
Steak House Salad
Ruths Chopped Salad
Rib Eye
Cowboy Rib Eye (both medium well)
Side of 6 grilled shrimp
Potato Au Gratin
Fresh Steemed Broccoli
Bill$$ $180 + $35 Tip. (Well Worth it)
After Thoughts,
Well when leaving the Frigid lady was very warm and the meal was sitting just right. The experience was salvaged by the good food and service from our waiter. Our cups were always full and we never ran out of bread or butter!
4 Stars but the location needs a nicer facade and larger stairway if there gonna be on the second floor, it's not for 2 way traffic. They do have an elevator but this is Ruth Chris! Probably won't go here again but who knows, I believe in second chances but just remember to ask for a booth or window seat next time.
Awesome. Pricey, but worth it.
Ruth's Chris is my go-to special occasion restaurant. I simply love it.
On my last visit I switched it up a bit and ordered the BBQ shrimp app. LOVE IT! It was a little different than I imagined, but simply delicious. The shrimp cocktail is good as well (can you tell I like shrimp?)
I love how they cook in the steak in the butter, it is delicious. I always order the filet and have never been dissapointed at the Walnut Creek location (NYE in SF is a different story..) But if you're not a butter fan- go somewhere else.
I enjoy the potatoes au gratin side. It has changed a bit over the years, but it's still amazing.
The banana carmel dessert is mouth-watering! I'm not even a huge fan of bananas but this dessert is delicious and great for sharing.
To sum it up.. LOVE IT!
Honestly chain or no chain, this is one of the best cuts of meat you can get anywhere. Ive been to this location twice and all i can say is food is great and service is excellent. I recommend the filet mignon (medium rare) of course. side dishes are $8 each but most of the timm can be shared between two people. I liked the fried onion rings, sauteed mushrooms, and the potato au graten. Oh yeah Crab cakes are also delicious.
For a complete 3 course meal for two people you're looking at betwwen $100-$150.
I've already reviewed Ruth's Chris in San Diego, but I HAD to give recognition to this one because the service and food were fantastic!
My family and I went here to celebrate my brother's birthday. They were all new to the Ruth's Chris experience so they had no idea what they were in for :) Immediately, when we were seated, there was birthday themed confetti on the table and at least 3 waiters said happy birthday to my brother :)
I ordered the jumbo scallops this time around, and they were AMAZING. I of course ordered the filet, and that was amazing, as usual :) My parents got dinner for two at 89.99, which they loved (it came with an appetizer for each, two main courses, two sides, and one dessert). And my brother got the steak and lobster deal for 39.99, which he also loved. They also gave my brother a free dessert with a candle. I thought that was sweet :)
Appetizers that I would definitely recommend would be the creamed spinach, which was DELICIOUS, and the sweet potato casserole (sweet potatoes topped with a pecan crust), which is pretty much a dessert in itself and is a good way to balance your tastebuds amongst all the meat :)
To get to the point, the food always tastes amazing, the service is always wonderful. This place is pretty much amazing whether you are in socal or norcal :)
Fantastic!
We went here to celebrate V-Day...well, the day before to avoid crowds. We normally don't go to steakhouses but with recommendations from friends, we decided to give this restaurant a try. And boy, glad that we did.
Our reservation was @ 9:30pm but we didn't get seated at around 10pm...yea, I get it since it is the day before V-Day. I guess some people wanted to beat the crowds like us. I got irritated a little bit when the hosts didn't check with us to let us know whats going on with our reservation especially when they passed us back and forth.
Finally, we got seated. :)
I got the prix fixe special with the Caesar Salad, Filet & Shrimp with Mashed Potatoes and the "Symphony" Selection
(fresh berries with Sweet Cream & Chocolate Mousse) dessert. The BF got the Calamari and Swordfish [he cant eat meat for health reasons :( ]. We shared the side since it was enough for the both of us.
The Calamari was really yummy! But I wish they put the sauce on the side...it overpowered the taste but it was still good.
I can honestly say that this is the best steak I have ever had. I usually order my steak well done (yea, yea, I know- I "ruin" the flavor-but I like my food fully cooked) and I was afraid that it might be a little hard but I was surprised that it was buttery soft and still juicy!!!! I loved my steak!
The shrimp was succulent and fresh. Our mashed potatoes was nothing out of the ordinary. It was just OK.
His Swordfish was flaky and also fresh. It was just cooked right. It was paired with juicy grape tomatoes and it was just perfect!
Lastly, our dessert was just right. Since we were sooo full, our dessert was this mini chocolate mouse and fruit. That was just enough to satisfy our sweet craving!
The ambiance was nice. It was soothing and dark. Our server was Maile. She was nice and very helpful with her recommendations.
They have valet but we usually just park in the free parking garage in the corner.
I may just come back for the steak! :)
