This is my home-base Ruth's Chris and the first one I went to.  It's in the middle of the BH.  Service has always been excellent over the past five years that I've eaten here and always attentive at communicating new deals and/or special events.  There's a bigger one in Pasadena but by no means better.

The steaks are always great and cooked to perfection.  The venue is cozy as well.  This location is the reason why I still go to other Ruth's Chris locations when I travel.  I have also celebrated many special events here, which adds to my positive review (but would not have been the case if the food was anything less than excellent).

You can probably spend a lot more money in BH at another place, but you won't get a better meal for the price.

The first time my lips savored a Ruth's Chris steak was at this location. They were on the list for DineLA & the fixed price menu was well worth my dollars.

My dinner consisted of seared ahi, NY strip, mashed potatoes & raspberry sorbet.

RC overuses the butter, but I like the fact that the NY strip is extremely excellent  sans steak sauce. It was juicy & pink in the middle - it's how a steak should be eaten!

RC also put me on to seared ahi tuna. There I've said it! The size portion was a meal itself and the tuna was fresh, pink & succulent.

Our server was great & fit right along in the atmosphere of RC - the old school waitress.

Parking was not an issue & the location was great. I would give an extra star but they should lay off the butter. Overall I like this location a tad better than Pasadena's.

I was excited to try this location since I had such a good experience at the Anaheim one. The buttery goodness of the steak on the sizzling plate was still there, as well as the delicious steak salad and desserts (I went for dineLA); however, I was a liiittle disappointed that my filet, which was supposed to come out medium, came out way more pink than my friend's ribeye, who had gotten his medium-rare. Also, there was nothing special about their sauteed mushrooms. It was basically five button mushrooms drizzled with butter. I'm no chef,  but I know I could've done better than that!

The service wasn't as great here. The waitress basically ignored us and only came back when, after a while, our desserts still hadn't come out. The guy that brought us our bread and water came around way more often than her and was a lot nicer. Perhaps the restaurant was just too busy on this Sunday night, but I expect better.

You ever listen to covers of your favorite artists or bands, and realize you just want to turn it off and hear the real thing? Ruth Chris was good, pricey, but only made me wish I was at Lawry's Prime Rib.

Their summer seasonal menu is definitely reflective of our current economy.  Cheap prices for an amazing steak is hard to come by nowadays, but Ruth Chris managed to snag me into their deals.

For $50, you can get a 3 course menu with your choice of salad, meat and dessert.  I chose the mixed greens, NY Strip and a sherbet that was light and sweet.

I want to thank the close friends and a special someone who brought me here to send me off right.  Personally, I'm not a big fan of steaks, I would rather eat mounds and mounds of sushi before attempting to order a medium-rare steak.  It's true that Ruth Chris has done it again and satisfy my appetite.  Maybe Tony Bourdain would agree as well, but knowing him he would prefer a mom and pop place as opposed to a franchise.

Thanks for the amazing night Ruth Chris. Also, last night Penn & Teller from LV sat next to us.  It's too bad they couldn't do a magic trick for us but BOY does that man know how to EAT.  =)

I hadn't had Ruth's Chris in years and my bf decided to make a night of it...it was as good as I remembered! The steak was perfect, service excellent, and the wine flowing! My only complaint would be that I was too full to eat it all :-) I had the petit filet md rare, and we split the au gratin potatoes (amazing!!!)...bf had the filet with the peppercorn sauce (delicious). Between the bread and actual meal were happily stuffed! Pricey but a great splurge if you can swing it.

I have to admit, I didn't think that this location could provide a better experience than my last venture to the Pasadena Ruth's Chris.  I was wrong.  The Beverly Hills location is much better.

Aside from one party allowing three small children to run around the dining area unsupervised for the better part of two hours, our celebratory dinner was perfect.  I'm not going to lie, we were secretly hoping someone would stick out a leg and trip one of them... yelling, climbing up on chairs, almost tripping the servers (who are carrying 500 degree plates).  This isn't Chili's, folks.

I digress.

We were directed to a table near the entrance of the main dining room.  Where we were situated, we were just as cozy and private as a booth, but we weren't squeezed into a confined space.  Our table was decorated with confetti and a birthday card, and both the hostess and server asked whose birthday it was, even though the only mention of a birthday was during the online reservation.

We each had the filet with an 8oz lobster tail, and we shared the potatoes au gratin and the creamed spinach.  Everything had great seasoning, and the plates came out scalding hot.  We were given separate butter dishes over candles, to keep them melted for our tails.  My filet was perfect, and even though the lobster was on a 500 degree plate, it wasn't overcooked.

Our server was accommodating, and the staff kept our table clean and our drinks full.  When the birthday dessert came to our table, our server realized that the honoree actually didn't like chocolate cake, so he made the correction and brought out their infamous cheesecake.  The manager checked in on us several times, and we had no complaints about our food or service.  Great birthday celebration and plenty of leftovers.

We'll be back there soon.

Ruth's Chris is the spark that lit the fire. I knew I liked steak, but Ruth's Chris made me LOVE steak. At that point, it was the best steak I had ever had, which may or may not be saying a lot considering I had the Kobe from Boa. From the moment I walked in the door, I could tell this place was legit. No over-the-top decor, no fancy lights or any other pretentious decor.

I've been here three times, and I've gotten a different steak each time. Out of the New York strip, bone-in ribeye, and filet mignon, I'd have to say I liked the strip the best. While the filet was the most tender, I felt like the strip just tasted better overall. I also love butter, so serving them on those hot plates swimming in butter is a plus. As for sides, I've had the mashed potatoes, baked potato, au gratin, and creamed spinach. They were all very tasty, but none of them were really that noteworthy. The creme brulee on the other hand, was probably the best I've ever had.

Service throughout the meal was above average, steak was wonderful, sides were average, the brulee was a definite winner. 4 stars.

We arrived at Ruth's Chris and had our vehicle valet parked. Parking was $7.

Upon entry, we were quickly greeted by the hostess -- who then led us to our seats. The waiter promptly introduced himself, brought beverages, then took our orders.

Nonetheless, the following are my recommendations:

To begin, I like any of the shrimp -- whether it be the Barbecued Shrimp or Shrimp Cocktail. For the entrée, I recommend a Filet or a T-Bone; the latter, if you have a big appetite.

Appetizer prices range from about $13 to $16. Steaks range from about $35 to $45. However, there is a Porterhouse that is to feed two people. The Porterhouse for two is upwards of about $80.

My main problem with Ruth's Chris Steak House is that they seem to butter the steak excessively. Moreover, the prices are a bit inflated for what you get -- which is expected.

Perhaps my discontent is with the mass-produced feel I get with any chain restaurant (not just Ruth's Chris).

Overpriced and horrible service. The steak is typical of chain restaurant but the prices they charge is outrageous. The side orders are boring and without any imagination. As for the wine list, the mark up is over 100%. What the hell? Would not go back ever.

Ruth's Chris Steak House is how I discovered that I actually DO enjoy steak (I previously despised steaks and couldn't for the life of me understand why anyone would pay high prices to eat the damn thing). Coming here truly changed my life.

I have been to various Ruth's Chris restaurants now (this location three times, Irvine, and Cancun), and I have never been disappointed by what I order from any of the Ruth's Chris chains.

I highly recommend the Ruth's Chop Salad to share.  Looks small, but splits well among 2-3 people.  Skip the Steak House Salad--it's just a fancy name for garden salad (waste of money!).

For sides I'd recommend the garlic mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach.  The garlic taste in the mashed potatoes is subtle and not over-powering. The creamed spinach was equally delicious. Skip the au gratin as it is overly cheesy (unless you're into mounds of cheese) and the sauteed mushrooms (too buttery).

My favorite steak used to be the filet-- incredibly soft and moist served up on a 500 degree (no joke!) plate of butter. I really felt like I could cut the steak with a fork, it was THAT tender! After a bite that required little chewing at all, I thought my tastebuds died and went to heaven. My only bone to pick with this perfect little steak is that I've always had to order my steak medium rare if I wanted it to come out medium.
Upon my most recent visit (about a month ago), I ventured out and tried their RIBEYE, which has become my new favorite steak at Ruth's Chris! The flavors ran wild in my mouth and it was surprisingly just as tender as the filet! A must try!

To end the night, I'd recommend the bread pudding with whiskey sauce, creme brulee, or fresh seasonal berries with sweet cream sauce.  I would skip the chocolate sin cake (TOO rich) and the cheesecake (the texture was mushy and liquidy).

If you split 1 salad, 1 side, 1 dessert and get your own steak, expect to pay about $50 tip and tax.

Ambiance is always perfect (great for dates). Service is excellent. Dress to impress (dressy yet casual) is preferred. Expect to valet for a small fee (I think it was $6 or 7) at this location as street parking can be hard to find in Beverly Hills.

Prime steaks are a rarity, and usually, you can only find them consistently at the big chain steakhouses--Morton's, Smith & Wollensky, and Ruth's Chris.  Of those three, I like Arnie Morton's the best.  I have often found that when the steak is properly seasoned and cooked at one of these places, the steaks can be remarkable and quite memorable.  That being said, it seems that everything else on the menu (from salads to sides to desserts) can be very mediocre.  The one exception is Morton's Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake--that is amazing.

I prefer a steakhouse with a little more character and a better overall experience, which is why I would take Jar over any of these.  While Jar does not use the same high quality of meats (though they do occasionally with specials), the overall dining experience is far superior.

I first went to this Ruth's Chris a long time ago--back in the year 2000.  I remember enjoying it then.  But on recent visits, I've found their food has gone downhill--especially their steaks.  I think the problem is that Ruth's Chris is known for serving their steaks on a sizzling hot plate of butter.  It's their signature.  But it seems with each year, they use more and more butter.  And the butter and the salt overpowers the taste of the meat; it can even leave you a little dehydrated.

In terms of their food on a recent visit, the ribeye, sizzlin blue crab cakes, and lyonnaise potatoes were all unremarkable.  Service was okay.  I'll have to give Mastro's a shot sometime because many have told me that it is the best of the big premium steakhouse chains.  Or maybe a visit to Cut.

The ribeye - medium rare - swimming in all that butter sometimes comes to me in my dreams, taunting me...seducing me. It's dangerous.

If you want to cheat on your faithful diet, then cheat with something worthwhile... go to ruth's chris and be unfaithful. I promise I won't tell, if you don't.

Recently, I've tried to curb my red meat intake. But if I ever decide to treat myself to a steak, Ruth's Chris steakhouse is the only place I'll go to. I've been here three times and each time the food and service has been excellent. Most recently, I went during Restaurant Week in Los Angeles. For a fixed $34.00 price, I got the seafood gumbo, a 6 oz filet of steak with three grilled shrimp on top, mashed potatoes and chocolate mousse for dessert. It was an amazing meal, I had zero complaints and went home very happy. I will definitely be back. It's a little pricey on regular days (without the restaurant week prices) but wholely worth it.

This is our go to place to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. They have outstanding food and the quality of the wait staff is excellent. They are always very accommodating for booths and for special occasions.

Between my wife and me, we've had a good number of the entrees and I must say that they have all been extraordinary (including the Buffalo Steak!). Our favorite sides are the Potatoes Au Gratin and if they have it available, the Cornbread Pudding.

Definitely, a good place to go for a great dinner.

Not much else to say... the food will more than speak for itself.

Oh em gee. I was anxious to try Ruth's Chris in Los Angeles. The first time I tried their steak was in Pittsburgh, so I was praying and praying that the Beverly Hills location would be just as good (the Morton's in Pittsburgh was horrible compared to the one in LA). I was delightfully surprised. My prayers were answered and then some...they have 3-course meals going on right now! I love they way they season the meat and the slight char on each side. They always cook the meat PERFECTLY as requested and the meat does wonders in your mouth.

I'm definitely going to take advantage of their special 3-course meal again! Hooray for consistency across the nation! Hooray for Ruth's Chris!

MENU:
steak house salad + 6 oz filet & shrimp with mushrooms + molten chocolate cake + glass of red

PRICE:
~$50/person

fresh's 2 CENTS:
expect to get a great tasting piece of steak on an extremely hot plate to keep your steak from getting cold, along with fresh sides. don't forget to save room for dessert!!

Imagine there was a lake made out of sizzling butter sauce. Now imagine there was a butter sauce drought and the lake started to dry out until there was only about a quarter inch of lake left. Now imagine when the lake dried out, in it's center was a perfectly cooked piece of steak, dripping and glistening with the sizzling butter sauce (clinging to it's skin if you will, like water to a supermodel as she emerges from a swimming pool). That would be your steak at Ruth's Chris.   Your dinner is now ready.

It is delicious, it is cooked to perfection. If you like it still mooing (as I do), they will leave it black and blue (and ice cold) in the center if you desire. Yes this is a chain restaurant, but let's not be snobs, this is not chain restaurant food.

Ruth's Chris is fantastic steak, salted and peppered and buttered to perfection. I am partial to their Porterhouse for 2, but love their fillets, rib-eyes, heck and all the others as well.

Also LOVE LOVE LOVE (okay one more) LOVE their mushrooms stuffed with crab meat appetizer - it tastes out of this world!

It's lively, it's fun, it's gluttonous, it's steak (it's great steak). I'm sure you can get better steak, I'm sure everyone has their favorites, but it's like being in the top tax bracket - sure you might make a million dollars a year and someone else might make a billion but you both still make more than 99.9% of the rest of the world. And that's Ruth's Chris, better than 99.9% of the other steak joints out there =).

We made a reservation for 3 and waited a few minutes to be seated, we requested a booth and sat comfortably. My friends ordered the New York, and the fillet, and I ordered a rib eye. We shared the lyonnase and the broiled tomatoes, and a bottle of Franciscan Merlot.
Our plates came sizzling with our steaks. They were cooked as ordered, and very tender, we asked our server about the system they use to cook their steaks, and he told us about a very expensive and power full oven they have. Since we were late diners, he kindly offer a kitchen tour at the end of our meals. Nice! We all loved our steaks and the potatoes were delicious. The tomatoes were good and simple, a little sweet and nicely roasted.
The kitchen tour was a nice end to our night, Even though it was late and it was time to clean, the manager and chef were kind enough to explain how the cook their steaks. The cook the top of the steak first, then they turn it sealing all the juices inside in a huge and very hot ceramic oven.
They have valet parking or you can park your car yourself. No free patking that I am aware of.
Very good experience.

I've been to a few different Ruth's Chris Steak Houses, and all have been phenominal....While it is pricey, you definitely get what you pay for!!!  Yum yum!  My go to dishes are the Wedge salad with thousand island, the filet mignon with the potatoes au grautin as a side.  I generally like the Bread Pudding for dessert but couldn't fit it in my belly this last visit.  I might have given 5 stars for the bread and butter alone, lol. Don't forget to ask for another sizzling hot plate with extra butter mid meal...it'll warm up your steak again and make it taste just as fantastic as the very first bite.

Set in the trend-heavy Meat lover, this beautiful classic steakhouse draws crowds with an edgy but recognizable steak menu washed down with stiff drinks; while the main dining area is charming.

I've known the name Ruth's Chris for years.  I've been wanting to try their steak for years.  I finally did last Saturday.  Thanks to their special $39.95/person 3 course classic menu, we had delicious steak without breaking the bank.

We arrived at our reservation time 7pm.  The restaurant was almost full.  The hostess brought us to the back room.  We passed a fish tank with live lobster in it.  I thought only Asian restaurants do that.  We liked the back room.  It was a lot quieter and spacious than the front booths.  I would hate to be seated at the booth by the entrance with tons of people waiting by your table while you are trying to have a romantic dinner with your date.

On their website, they only posted the $39.95 menu.  But there is also a $49.95 option.  For the more expensive option, you can pick between a large filet, ribeye, lamb chop or lobster tail.  As we were ordering, the waitress informed us that every dish at Ruth's Chris has butter and parsley on it.  They are happy to make any requested change, but food with tons of butter and parsley is the recommended Ruth's Chris way.  Yes, me like butter, more the merrier.

Hot bread and whipped butter were brought to the table after we ordered.  This gotta be the hottest bread to serve in a restaurant.  The waitress told us that everything came out of their kitchen is extremely hot.  She also warned us not to touch any plate because it will be 500 degree hot.

BF ordered a glass of Riesling for me and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon for himself.  I love the sweet Riesling.  It was a little sour at the tip of the tongue.  Then it became sweet toward the back of the tongue.  BF also liked his red wine a lot.  It was very smooth with a complex flavor.

For the first course, I ordered Louisiana Seafood Gumbo.  The soup was a little on the salty side.  The white rice definitely helped though.  There were tons of tiny shredded crab meat floating around in the soup.  There were also a few small shrimps and some sausage.  It was also slightly spicy.  I thought it was too salty at first.  But as my palate got used to the flavor, the soup turned tastier.  BF got the Caesar salad.  Delicious.  Simply delicious Caesar salad.

For our main course, BF had one of the $39.95 choices, Pitite Filet and Shrimp.  The shrimp was definitely jumbo.  It was almost as big as the filet mignon.  It was very tasty, too.  The filet was cooked to a perfect medium.  The steak was lean and very tender.  The meat tasted very beefy meaty, in a really good way.  I normally eat my steak with ketchup and A-1 Sauce.  But at Ruth's Chris, non of that was needed.  We really enjoyed the true flavor of the beef.

My main course was the $49.95 choice of ribeye.  This was one giant piece of steak.  It came out still sizzling on the plate.  Also perfectly medium, my ribeye was fattier than the filet.  The meat was even softer because of the fat.  The flavor was also completely different than the filet mignon.  It didn't taste as "meaty and beefy", but it was more flavorful.  Indeed a piece of super juicy steak.  Of course, we weren't able to finish it.  Half of it was bagged to-go.

Two sides were also included in the meal.  Sauteed Mushrooms were so juicy and full.  Love the meaty taste of mushroom.  The most delicious Mashed Potatoes.  Super super tasty.  I would LOVE to have the recipe of their mashed potatoes.

The dessert symphony was a combo of two mini dessert.  Fresh Berries & Sweet Cream was a "soupy" dessert.  Somehow I thought the sweet cream would be more like a thick cream, but it wasn't.  It was pretty good though.  The tartness of the berries and the sweet cream balanced each other well.  The chocolate mousse came in a chocolate cup!  I didn't even know at first.  When the chocolate came apart, I actually thought I broke their container and got scared for a minute!  Stupid me.  Then BF called me "pabo" (I think that means silly in Korean) and told me it was just chocolate.  So I ate it.  Every piece of it.  It was yum yum yummy.

I can't believe I didn't try Ruth's Chris sooner.  If I knew their steak is THIS good, I would've came like 10 years ago!  Can't wait to go back again.  I think I'm going to take my parents to try it, too.  BF, when are you taking to Ruth's Chris again?  haha....

I believe this is the BEST Ruth's Chris in all of the Greater LA area.  The steaks are always super hot and sizzling when they arrive at the table.  The filet, bone-in, and ribeye are all good!  Additionally the jumbo shrimp/prawns, lobster tail, crab cakes, and stuffed chicken breast are all equally divine.  For starters the osso bucco ravioli is great, but the stuffed mushrooms are my fav!  The service is consistently good, however the hostesses can be a bit stiff and sometimes even though there is a reservation you may have to wait 10 mins. or so.

For purists, this may not be the best way to eat steak drenched in butter but it certainly has been my favourite goto restaurant when I used to reside in West LA.

Yes, they do have an entree including Veal, Lobster, Lamb and Chicken.  But may I suggest heading straight to the Cowboy Ribeye for that excellent marbling which comes out perfect as they sear the steak at 1,800 degrees.  I normally like my steak cooked medium, but for the Ribeye version I request medium-well to slightly char the fats.  Yum!

And don't forget to complement your steak with a side order of Sweet Potato Casserole which has a Pecan crust as well as Creamed Spinach or Spinach Au Gratin (if you want melted sharp cheddar on it).

I also go for the Mojito or if everyone elects wine, then a bottle of any of their table versions will do.

The service has always been top notch.  They don't rush you in and out and they certainly won't try to upsell you like other supposedly classy restaurants do.

Ambiance is what you would expect for a steakhouse.  Dark wood and leather.  And the lighting only slightly dimmed enough to read the menu without squinting.  There is always a large group so noise level is certainly loud, but still respectable.

I would suggest trying to obtain one of their elevated round booths or a booth at the main dining hall for a semi-private and enjoyable dining experience.

I went to Ruth's Chris this past V-Day to join the consumerist bandwagon.=]  Filet Mignon is my main-man whenever I encounter a steakhouse, so I opted for surf & turf.  This was my first time eating at a restaurant whose meals didn't offer ginormous sides, so it took me a few double-takes before I adjusted to my lonely plate (just another American glutton, haha.)

The waitress informed me of the buttery topping, and it certainly was no joke.  My order overall was extremely rich in butter: buttery cow, buttery shellfish, buttery lips, etc etc.  It was still satisfying, and generally what I expected, but I'd honestly prefer Outback Steakhouse's Crowned Victoria Filet with Blue Cheese.  I guess I'm a cheap date to boot?

The ambiance at Ruth's Chris is nice, but I'm not into the smushed seating arrangements.  Everything gets too loud, and I feel like I'm going to knock everything over.  =S

For all the hoopla surrounding quality LA steak houses, I've never heard of any place mentioned quite nearly so often as Ruth's Chris. And prior to last evening, I have never been in my short 26 years in the greater Los Angeles area. More often I would find myself at a Woodranch BBQ, a hotel restaurant or even an (don't laugh) Applebees, but now I can say Ruth's Chris' reputation is well-earned.

In celebration of a good friend's recent promotion, we gathered at Ruth's Chris to dine hardy, symbolic of their newfound professional status and deserving of a luxurious lifestyle (at least in so far as red meat in concerned). The menu was surprisingly long, offering a wide range of red meat, ranging from filets to New York ribeye. But there were also other offerings including garlic chicken, lamb, and BBQ shrimp. And
everything comes soaked in butter and sprinkled with parsley (Italian, I think).  I had the filet topped with BBQ shrimp, and cooked medium, it was moist and excellent without being too salty or saturated in any kind of BBQ seasoning. Served on piping hot plates, the steak was still cooking the moment it was served, but the meat cut well without spilling its juices.

Everything else was served a la carte, and consisted of the usual mash potatoes, broccoli, sauted mushrooms (or onions, if requested), and even fries. In our case, we opted for the chef's classic, which also included a starter salad of choice and ended with a dessert of chocolate mouse and a fruit parfay. All that for $40 - $50, it was easily the best deal in the house, although I have heard it is only offered on the
weekends (not including Fridays).

We ate well. We drank well. And for maybe the first time, I (personally) didn't feel out of my element or like I was receiving charity. We had come a long way from just another evening at TGIFs (ha!). On the downside, our waiter did forget one of our appetizers and I heard comments from other patrons that the level of service can be terribly inconsistent between Beverly Hills and Irvine. Regardless, it's worth the price of admission, even if only once a year or so.

Ruth's Chris is a chain of "elite" steakhouses competing with the likes of Mortons, Smith and Wollenskies, Mastros, Cut, BLT and so forth.  So one would expect a cut of beef to run anywhere from $30 - $60 on average with obscene cuts in the hundreds for American or Japanese Kobe beef.  Sides such as mashed potatoes, broccoli or mac and cheese typically add on $10-15.  Soups, salad and desserts all are seperate and run about the same.  So for non-drinkers, a salad, side, a hunk of meat and dessert will run about $100 with tax and tip per person.

With that in mind,  I hit this place up courtesy of the Dine LA week, so it will have a different sort of valuation than the normal menu.

This year, the choice was to do the $34 or $44 three course.   Here is the menu taken from the DineLA website:

Appetizers
Steak House Salad
Caesar Salad
Seafood Gumbo or Lobster Bisque

Entrees $34
Petite Filet - Includes choice of one personal side from - Mashed Potatoes, Creamed Spinach, Sauteed Mushrooms or Fresh Broccoli.
Stuffed Chicken Breast - Includes choice of one personal side from - Mashed Potatoes, Creamed Spinach, Sauteed Mushrooms or Fresh Broccoli.
Fresh Wild Salmon - Includes choice of one personal side from - Mashed Potatoes, Creamed Spinach, Sauteed Mushrooms or Fresh Broccoli.

Entrees $44 (same sides as above)
Filet
Ribeye
New York Strip
Filet Medallions and Shrimp
Chef's Featured Fresh Fish.

Desserts
Symphony of Fresh Berries with Sweet Cream and Chocolate Mousse
Symphony of New Orleans Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce and Cheese Cake
Ice Cream or Sorbet - Vanilla, Chocolate or Raspberry Sorbet

RC is separated into two dining areas.  One includes the bar and is a bit more crowded, while the other is just tables.  The kitchen is in the back, as is the restroom, so there is a possibility that you may be stuck with one of those tables if you do not have your reservation under Franklin.

Given that the place is fairly small (maximum occupancy was around 188), know that this place is noisy and busy.  A quiet romantic place, this is not.  The atmosphere is fairly casual for fancy steakhouse.  Some people were dressed to the nines and others were just wearing regular clothes.  If you are looking for a black tie baller kind of place, you will be disappointed.

Service is pretty good, but don't expect the sun and the moon.  I don't think they can do much for you other than bring you your food and recommend a good wine.  The place is too small and busy to do people much by way of favors if you are particular about where you sit or for them to sit around and chat with you.  The manager makes an effort to go around and make sure that everything is okay.

Because it was the kickoff for DineLA and the menu was such a good deal, this place was packed to the gills and our 7:30pm reservation resulted in a seat at 8:10pm.  The bar was jammed, but we managed to get a seat.  They had great deal for one of the wines (Five Cellars?) at $5 a glass while we waited.  The bartender was cool and hooked us up with a comp refill while we waited.  Lesson:  Don't be a prick about waiting and a good place will hook you up.

I had the seafood gumbo, ribeye, broccoli and fresh berries w/sweet cream and chocolate mousse.  In case you wanted to know, the steak was 20 oz or so.

Seafood gumbo.  I'm not Cajun, but I did like it.  It had a nice bit of rice and was pretty flavorful.

Ribeye.  I asked for mooing and it came out mooing!  Hurray!  The home equivalent to the ribeye was like getting one at Whole Foods.  Excellent and well made.  I did not have to add any flavor as it was nice and buttery.  This is an area that is a problem with some steakhouses.

Broccoli.  Standard.  Steamed, not too soggy.  Would be better lightly boiled, but I have never been to steak house that gets that right.  I just got it because I needed roughage and they did not have rice on the prix fixe menu.

Dessert.  Good.  But then, I don't really care about dessert much.

I didn't look at wine list since someone with more expertise ran with that and was treating (thanks!).  I figure it is typical for steakhouse and run from $40 on up with the average running $80.  For you wine snobs, I had Koehler 2005 magia nera that is a cab / sangiovese blend.

Overall, I think RC is good, but aside from the DineLA thing, I wouldn't think there is great value here.  If you are trying to impress or you are just a baller, then this is your sort of place.  As for myself, I know how to make a good steak and I know where to buy them from, so it is hard to get super excited about shelling out $100 when I could make something more to my liking for $40 at home.

Parking is valet $7.  The restaurant is on the east side of the street, so I suggest approaching from the south (i.e. Olympic) since I don't think you can really u-turn anywhere.

Anyone up for steak tonight?  Oh, me! Me! *jumping up and down frantically*

Up and down California and East and West across the country, I've been on my "Great Steak Search."  Of course, Ruth's Chris is one of those staple steakhouses that everyone needs to try at least once.

The "deep fried steak," as my boyfriend has aptly dubbed them, are great.  They're seasoned well (no A-1 here, folks!), they're always BURNING hot (do I hear a HURRAH for the gabillion-degrees-hot-plate housing a FAT steak in SIZZLING butter?), and they're almost always cooked just the way we like 'em: medium rare for the bf, well done for yours truly.  The sides?  I can't say any are all that memorable.  I think I usually get the creamed spinach, the creamed corn, and the asparagus (I'm not a huge potato-lover: take 'em or leave 'em, I don't care).

I've been here (and to all the other Ruth's Chris restaurants in OC, too, for that matter) for every occasion, and every non-occasion, from NYE to birthdays to anniversaries to just plain "I'm feeling Ruth's Chris tonight" days.  Each time, the service has been decent-to-good, the food has been good-to-great, and the ambiance has been all over the spectrum, from really noisy and annoying to really quiet and subdued.  I'm not saying it's the best steakhouse I've ever tried (sorry, but that high distinction goes to Delmonico's, dear), but it does rate amongst one of the better that I've been to.

Now, forget the fact that it's a steakhouse for just ONE SECOND, and open your minds.  I'm not a big fan of dessert (I'm usually so stuffed after such monstrous steaks and other yummy meals that I don't have any room for dessert), but one random night, my boyfriend and I decided, "Hey, why not?" and got an assortment to try.

Um. Berries and Cream, anyone?

OH MY GOSH. I almost died.  Forget the cheesecake, forget the cobbler, forget everything else!  The BERRIES AND CREAM.  I almost DIED.  I don't even know how to describe it except that the dainty little martini glass was chock full of really fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, smothered in some condensed-milk-esque cream (it was not too thick, not to thin, not too sweet, and not too bland).  It was just PERFECT with the berries!

I gobbled up the entire thing, and cross my heart, I ordered one more.  I left the other three or four desserts for my boyfriend to eat (I wouldn't let him have more than ONE bite of my precious berries and cream.. selfish, I know), and happily indulged myself in this yummy (and positively fattening) glass of deliciousness.

Truth be told, I haven't been to Ruth's in awhile. For steak, we're more likely to go to Mastro's (although my boyfriend swears up and down that his favorite meal in the whole wide world is a Ruth's Chris ribeye).  BUT!  I'm often found here, stopping in for a quick snack at the bar, sans alcohol and food, slurping happily on my berries and cream!

Case in point?  For NYE dinner, my boyfriend said, "I made two reservations, one for Ruth's and another for Mastro's.  Where do you want to go?"

I said, "Mastro's steak is better, but................ Nothing beats the berries and cream at Ruth's!!! What to do???"

We ended up going to Mastro's for the dinner, but if there's anything all  Yelpers should know, I was willing to go to Ruth's just for the berries and cream.

Oh my gosh. Reading back on this, I sound like a promotional spokesperson for the berries and cream. *drool*

Ruth Chris has a great story and a well deserved reputation for top drawer steaks.  It's a destination steak place and it's brillant for the uber high temp cooking method and melted butter on the steak to make it that more decadent.

So everytime I get this perfect sizzling steak I take a few bites which I dip into my tiny salt pile.  You savor the flavor, fat, juices, and beefy crust.  If I ever become an angel, they better be serving this in heaven.

After I calm down from the heavenly beef it's back to the side dishes.  The sides really are good and I would recommend going for more sides than you can eat.  Perfect sliced tomato and onion (where do they get that tomato from?),  Lettuce Wedge (my kind of high cal salad), mushrooms (with lots of butter), and even perfect french fries (way better than In-N-Out), plus your standard potato (It's a biggie).

The only thing I don't like is that I feel crowded and it really shouldn't be like that.   But on the other hand the food is so good that I don't mind after  savoring all the flavor.  Another bonus is that if you order a lot of items you'll be getting the utimate leftover meal.

I've been to Ruth Chris generally with the guys so I always have a great time.  If it's with the ladies then maybe I would prefer Flemmings or Chophouse, and for my quiet dinners then Pacific Dining Car.  But for some reason unlike the other places when I know I'm going to Ruth Chris I get all excited like a little kid getting their first cellphone.

I really truly feel for those affected by the recession and skyrocketing unemployment rates. Sincerely, I do. I hope the new administration and economic team can make headway on improving the sitch ASAP. But if there is any benefit to be had by this pitiful economy, it's the deals popping up at stores and restaurants this holiday season. 70% off this, free shipping that, and $39.99 filet mignon and crab-stuffed lobster tail at Ruth Chris on New Year's Eve.

Now, this meal wasn't exactly cheap. Everything but the meat was still a la carte, so for two people I paid $131 plus tip for 2 specials, 1 chop salad, 1 martini, and 2 side dishes. I guess you could say I spent many more buckage than I saved. Oh, well, it was tasty!

I had never actually been to a Ruth Chris. This Beverly hills location was much smaller than I was expecting, cozy and Rat-pack chic . Most tables are these adorable round mini-booths, alas we were not seating in one.

Get a dirty martini! If you go with Absolut vodka, it's cheaper than a glass of wine and will last twice as long and is at least 3 times as strong.

I was surprised how small my chopped salad was. See photo. Sexy looking number, like a little salad cake. It was fine, a little pungent in an onion-y way. I would not recommend trying to split a salad like we did.

The steak was mighty tasty. I was clear that I like my steak RARE and luckily, they got that right. The waiter did warn us that they serve their steaks on 400 degree plates, so I promptly transfered my filet to my bread plate to prevent any more cooking. The steak was not sauced but was well-seasoned. I have no need for sauce with a buttery, high-quality, well-seasoned filet.

Honestly, I'm not big on lobster. Helpfully, this one was stuffed with crabcake. The stuffing was better for this crab lover than the lobster meat.

Sides were potatoes au gratin and sauteed spinach. Fine, nothing special. Let's face it, paying $8.50 per plate of veggies is NOT what the fuss is about.

No dessert. Abstaining from sweets in between Xmas and Vday is how I try to combat the holiday chubs.

Would I come here again? Probably not. If I were gonna drop so much $$$$ on a steak dinner, I'd try something different. Unless they lured me in with some sexy promotion. I'm a sucker for a clever promotion.

So it's been a few years since my first steak house experience.  The first time, my wife (who was my gf at the time) and I had been given a $150 gift card by my cousin to "get something nice to eat".  We were still in college at that point, so the more typical meal was junk food, or cheaper bar food.  After that first meal, I had always thought Ruth's Chris would be worth going back to.... until tonight.

Don't get me wrong.  The service was great and all.  The food, just wasn't what I remember it as.  I guess I've been getting spoiled with the periodic steak dinner at various bachelor parties etc... Everything seemed smaller today, and looking more like something I could have made at home.  Still good, but guess I'm becoming a "steak snob" without really being the "snob".  I guess my days of "chain steak houses" is over.

Yelp, when will we have the option of giving "1/2 stars" ...?  This place was a solid 3.5, but not a 4.  In this case I had to opt for a 3...

Food: yummy.  came for the $39 petite filet with lobster tail with lump crab meat deal.  the filet was the perfect medium rare with lots of delicious butter although my cousin in law's filet came out medium instead of medium rare.  the lobster tail is yummy and the crab is yummy.  i believe the filet was 5 oz and the lobster tail was 6 oz.  good food but it didnt even fill me up at all.  we ordered a bottle of malbec which was pretty decent i think for $32 bucks.

Ambiance:  warm, inviting, good lighting.  lots of booth seats, dining area seemed a bit cramp and the tables seemed too short.  decor is simple and refined.

Staff: friendly, helpful

Price: $$$

Mmmmm steak served in a pool of butter...

The boy and I decided to try Ruth's Chris dineLA menu and made reservations for Thursday 1/29 at 7:45pm. We found parking for a flat rate of $3 in a parking structure just steps from the restaurant and sat down at a bar for a drink to wait for our table.

The bartender was EXTREMELY friendly, not in a sleazy-creepy or Beverly Hills-pretentious fake way but in a genuinely cool and awesome bartender-like way. He poured the boy a beer and gave me a glass of water "so I didn't feel awkward without having anything in front of me." (I don't drink)

We were seated at 7:55pm by a plastic-faced blonde hostess who must have had some serious botox or a facelift recently because her features didn't move and she could barely speak or smile. If you're going to have plastic surgery make sure you take enough time to recover before going back to work, otherwise you risk creeping out the patrons.

We were seated in a large booth at the back corner of the restaurant, shielded from the noise and breeze from the front door. The hostess was bubbly and nice, took our order, and forgot to bring us more bread when we devoured the first basket but remembered when we reminded her a second time.

The bread was delicious with a crispy crust and warm soft innards. I ordered the lobster bisque, fresh wild salmon with creamed spinach, and symphony of fresh berries with sweet cream and chocolate mousse. The boy ordered a ceasar salad, the petite filet with mashed potatoes, and symphony of new orleans bread pudding with whiskey sauce and cheese cake.

My lobster bisque was smooth and rich with a surprising amount of lobster chunks. It was my favorite part of the entire meal. The fresh wild salmon was tender and a delicate flavor, I liked it but should've ordered the steak instead! The creamed spinach was too heavy for me, I had a few yummy creamy bites but ended up leaving most of it.

Strangely enough, the boy was brought creamed spinach as an appetizer at the same time my lobster bisque came out. The waitress looked perplexed and fixed this quickly, bringing him a small and underwhelming ceasear salad. The petite filet, however, was tasty beyond words, cooked perfectly medium rare, and came out sizzling on a plate of butter. The steak made everything okay again. It was complemented by the mashed potatoes which were very buttery and slightly garlicky.

For dessert, we were both served the bread pudding by accident and I didn't get my berries with sweet cream. :( The bread pudding was chewy and I wasn't a fan of the cheesecake, I wish I'd gotten my fresh berries with sweet cream instead but my brain was so hazy from an impending food coma that I didn't realize the mistake until getting in the car to go home.

Total for 2 dineLA dinners with a beer, glass of wine, and tip came out to $100. I thought that service (minus the hostess) was excellent, that the bartender was awesome, and that the food was significantly above average. I probably won't be back until the next dineLA or e-mail special, when that happens I'll definitely get some sort of cow product and hopefully have the chance to finally enjoy those fresh berries in sweet cream... until next time, Ruth's Chris!

Even though this is probably one of the largest, if not largest chain steakhouse, it is really good. They know what they are doing here. Those buttery sizzling plates of steak that come out are pretty magical.  What is there really to talk about? Great steak, not the best, but great. Delicious sides, not the best but delicious. And you aren't paying any more or less than competing steakhouses. Some people may say a steak is a steak is a steak. That is untrue and Ruths Chris will prove it. Like I said,  as good as it tastes it isn't best tasting steaks ever but it certainly has a different flavor than other steaks from other restaurants.

Even in the midst of this depressing economy, how can you pass up those emails alerting you that their petite filet w/ lobster is only $39?
This deal reels you in, and of course you end up ordering a myriad of delicious sides and a bottle of lovely red wine that totals up to way over $39....but who cares b/c your dinner was amaaaazing!
Though the petite cut is definitely not my top pick when it comes steak, it was delicious and surprisingly quite tender. I'm always amazed that those 500 degree plates of sizzling butter don't overcook my meat, and I get the perfect medium rare everytime. Our sides of mac 'n cheese, creamed spinach, and au gratin potatoes did not disappoint and our server most definitely gets a gold star. Woot woot.

Ruth's Chris is not my preferred steakhouse in LA, but it's definitely worth it to dine next to Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider!

Steak portion I find is a bit smaller than what you pay for. Sides are definitely delicious. My dinner was the filet with creamed spinach and mashed potato sides paired with a glass of Riesling (I know, I broke the rule, suppose to pair with red but went with white because red wines make my heart race). Definitely stayed full for a very long time and cured my hungry carnivorous side.

Always make reservations to make sure you arrive and get seated right away. With a reservation, you are guaranteed not to wait. I usually find it annoying if I have to wait even with a reservation.

If you're a big fan of Ruth's, make sure you sign up for their e-mail list so you get promo deals! They've been having it quite a lot, especially good prices for "dinner for 2."

As students, we ate out a lot...........I don't know how we managed to afford it.  One day, my friend organized a lunch for a group of steak lovers. =)  I ordered a fillet mignon (their signature steak) and one of my friend ordered a rib eye ( I think).  It's been a while.  The filet mignon came out well done............I like my steak medium rare........the hot plate cooked the steak more at my table.  The marbled rib eye that my friend ordered was delicious.............I regret ordering my filet mignon and was disappointed at spending so much money on an overcook ok piece of meat but Ruth Chris made it up with my next experience...........see my other post

We saw Jerry Buss, the owner of the Lakers that day having lunch..............

This headache, cold and fever I've had this morning is all because of this place.

There is no good excuse this restaurant has for making my party wait for over 45 minutes to be seated. We had a reservation set since the day before. But nope, it was 45-f***ing minutes of waiting in the cold because the bar's too crammed and there's nowhere else to wait inside.

If I hadn't had a good experience at a Ruth's Chris at the Woodland Hills location, I would swear off this chain altogether. The food is excellent, and especially with the DineLA menu, it was a bargain. But I strongly suggest going to Pasadena or Woodland Hills or ANY OTHER Ruth's Chris location because this Beverly Hills one isn't worth it.
