Of the larger national steakhouse franchises, Ruth's Chris is my favorite. Where, for example, Morton's is only great in their Chicago and New Orleans locations, Ruth's Chris seems to be a reliably great meal. I've been to several of their restaurants, and regard Baton Rouge to be their pinnacle location. Maybe it was the alcohol or the dynamic of the group, who knows. What distinguished Baton Rouge was also the service; always special, but particularly engaging here. In keeping with local preferences, crab meat toppings and/or sauces topped the steaks; their crab meat steak topping is an absolute treasure. Most who know Ruth's Chris steaks recognize that the copious quantities of butter, attention to proper seasoning and use of the culinary equivalent of a pottery kiln to be at the heart of their great steaks. The meat, however, starts out with a great advantage; well-marbled prime (I suspect) and properly aged. The stratosphere of great steaks isn't likely to be attained by a high-volume chain, but that standard isn't far from the Ruth's Chris grade. I enjoy their creamed spinach, mashed potato and sauteed mushroom sides as being a nice compliment to their steaks, but not good enough to stand alone.

Hands-down the best steaks and service in Baton Rouge. This the only place in town that will do just about ANYTHING for their customers! If you like something that's not on the menu and they can make it, they will. Better yet, they take note of what you enjoy (from food to drinks to even a specific place to sit) and will remember the next time you come in. No other place in town is as consistent with quality in food and service. Make sure to get a reservation on the busy nights, however. Yes, it's pricier than some other places, but you definitely get what you pay for at Ruth's.

So I sent them a scathing email regarding the recent mishap and they comped the steak. The first time I went it was excellent so I will go with that level of stars.

Oh, this place is just the best! I've been here about five times, and I've only had one bad experience (which was completely atoned for; I got a free meal :D). I'm not a salad eater, but I love to eat their salads. The Lobster Bisque here is to-die-for, and is just as good as Tavern on the Green's in NYC. I always order the Fillet, medium rare, and I am always blown away by the smell and taste of it. While I do not care for the selection of desserts here, I really enjoy the crème brulée. The sourdough bread they put on your table is the bomb, too!
This Ruth's Chris comes with the highest endorsements from me! -

Quite frankly the best steak in town. Order the center cut, no chain, medium rare, and keep the wet plate!
Also for appetizer get the BBQ Shrimp minus the mashed potatoes. -

I've decided that when dining at Ruth's Chris, just stick to the basics: Steak and Au Gratin Potatoes. Those items never fail. However, they've got some work to do on some of their not-so-familiar dishes. They continually ruin a potentially beautiful appetizer: Seared Tuna. It's way, way, way oversauced. The sauce is too spicy and too gingery to pour that much on. Just drizzle would suffice and then it would be perfect. Their heavy handed sauce ruins perfectly beautiful tuna.
Next, the lamb left a lot to be desired. At $36 a plate, it better be fantastic. But it was barely a 3 oz portion and it was overcooked. It was also butchered incorrectly, as I continually had to remove shards of bone from my mouth. So in terms of the lamb: Epic Fail.
Steak and potatoes--A-OK. Anything else--not a fan. -

Despite it being (now) a national chain, this Ruth's is simply fabulous. Amazing steak, always cooked to perfection, with the most scrumptios butter bubbling all over it. It's so simple, and so good. Order with the cheese-covered broccili and die happy. Also, expect to have some of the best service you can remember.

My wife and I had a great dining experience last night at Ruth's. Service was excellent and the wine and food even better.

Great steak and amazing crème brulée. I'd eat her any time as long as someone else pays (it can easily get up to $75 per person).
