Friendly fast service. Tasty food. Not exactly health food. We had breakfast. The pancakes were huge and good. Eggs cooked in butter.

Just ordered two desserts and they charged $1 each more than what was on menu; then added $0.89 more each, for a "to go" charge that we were not told about. When we inquired about the charges, the "managers" were extremely rude and blamed us for not knowing there was a "to go" charge. (This was after they tired to pretend like the extra charges were just tax). I've never seen a restaurant in my life that has a "to go" charge. All we ordered were desserts. If you eat there, do they charge you a "wash the dishes charge" too? Wow! Stay away!

The Rusty Tractor is a fun eclectic restaurant to visit and eat at. I base my opinion on countless visits to this establishment. Let me say the majority of the breakfasts eaten at the Rusty Tractor have been outstanding but and that is a big BUT, the few bad meals made me rate it at 4 stars.
Oh how I love sirloin steak and eggs for breakfast. The first two steaks over a period of several weeks, were so good I could cut the steak with my fork. The sirloin steak melted in my mouth. I sat at the bar and with each bite I said "Ummm". I said "Ummm" so many times during my meal, the other patrons were hysterical with laughter. They had fun at my expense but I had the best meal ever. So all made out okay.
The only bad meal I actually had was when two weeks later the sirloin steak was not cooked to my usual Medium Well requirements. The waitress took it back to the kitchen. The cook must have put that steak in the microwave and nuked it for 6 minutes because it was so tough that the steak knife would not penetrate the meat.
Management made good on this meal. She reduced the bill their cost of the sirloin steak. I was okay with the eggs and toast and hashbrown portion. Fair is fair..
One sad note is that the quality of the Sirloin steak and egg breakfast has changed with the type of meat they now serve. I have not ordered this breakfast for several months now. I miss a good steak.
My husband eats Hotcakes. The Rusty Tractor is his second most favorite place to eat hotcakes. He loves hotcakes and they have to be just right before he will eat them again. At the Rusty Tractor they are fluffy and not gooey nor are they as hard as rocks. The flavor of the batter is nice and he enjoys eating the hotcakes with one egg and lots of strawberry jam. Go figure!!
The interior is busy with antiques of all styles of farm life projected on the walls and shelves. I have never found them to be dusty at all. Right now my favorite item is the Christmas Tree hanging upside down from the ceiling in the main dinning room. How clever.
The staff is excellent. They are professional as well as friendly. They are consisent with how they treat customers. I love to go on the weekends when Teri, Raiann and Chelsea are working. I feel like a regular now..
I recommend going and have fun ... -

We came in at 10:30 on a Sunday and apparently breakfast was over. There were a few egg, meat and potato specials on the menu, but it was severely disappointing.
The potatoes were very starchy, under cooked, and bland. The eggs had a buttery oil taste, seemed fake and processed. The bacon was decent, not greasy. Our waitress seemed like she had better places to be and other customers to tend to. Luckily it was cheap. -

Fun and Funky! We had a delicious lunch. They have some breakfast items all day. My husband had the meatloaf sandwich which was yummy and a great value. My son had french toast with strawberries. I had the standard bacon and eggs. We all enjoyed our food and the service was OUTSTANDING!!! The waitress was very friendly and wanted us to be happy with every item we ordered.

Great Place... The place is always packed but it is worth waiting to eat since there really is not anything around for miles or at least that you would want to take a chance on.

Stopped here on the way to charter fishing in Ilwaco and had a very pleasant meal. I highly recommend the rattlesnake eggs.
Large portions of quality homemade food - I had the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was rich and creamy with generous chunks of sausage. The biscuits were dense stick-to-your-ribs fare and complemented the gravy very well. -

If there is a god and he decided to create a restaurant, it would be the Rusty Tractor Family Restaurant. This is the best restaurant I've ever been to in my entire life and if I lived closer, I would eat here every day.
First of all, the food is outstanding. It's generic "denny's" type food choices, but really, really, REALLY good. French toast the size of your head, chicken fried steak with real gravy. Plus, they have some local.. well.. specialties. They have ox meat on the menu, ox burgers, ox steak, etc. I made my mom try the ox burger and she said it was actually really good. They also have rattlesnake eggs, and a few other little fun things to try if you're feeling racy. What's great is even though you get a meal big (and good) enough to feed a giant, it's super cheap, well under $10/person.
Secondly, the service is always great. They waiters and waitresses are always busy as hell, running around with a million orders and customers (because it's always busy), but they don't let you know it. They attend to you constantly, making sure you have everything, the food comes out fast and hot.
Third, and most importantly, I want to live inside this building. It's like.. the worst, kitchy, horrible white-trash designed building that I when we were driving past on the highway, I turned around to go to it. It drew me in like a beacon. It has one of the outside walls completely covered in jello molds. There are tractors, hay bales, and other random farm machinery sitting out front. Inside, there are hay bales in the ceiling, cartoon cows and pigs plastered all over the walls, it is wonderful. I can't tell if they're taking themselves seriously or not, and that makes it even better.
Everytime I'm within a 60 mile radius of Elma, I make it a point to drive out of my way to come here. It's totally worth it. -

If you leave here hungry you either are bulimic or in need of Jenny Craig in a serious way. Very large portions of yummy omlettes, pancakes, and my personal favorite...tractor treads.
I generally prefer the breakfast items to the lunch sandwiches. However, the tractor tread fries do make a sandwich a bit more tempting.
Omlettes are very well done and the hash browns are excellent as well. The "cowpie" bisquits are really big...but alas are also very dry.
If you are on your way out to the coast and want good breakfast stop here...just beware that that beautiful six pack might be ruined by all the calories! -

Made a trip out to Hoquiam with the family, and based off Mindy's review
we decided to stop here for lunch, if conditions allowed, and luckily for us, they did.
Very kitchy place, but they go all out with it, which makes it cool.
I had the Yak bacon-cheese burger, and it was good. The veggies were fresh, and the baon outstanding. My only complaint was that the patty itself was kind of 'unimpressive', not the mountain of meat I was hoping for...not enough meat there for it to taste any different than beef.
My wife had the 'Kentucky Melt', and it was OUTSTANDING. Fresh turkey, the same tasty bacon I had, and a toasty roll.
The kids meals were good, a nice grilled cheese and chicken fingers for the other. The mountain of crispy crinkle fires provided meant the meals would have satisfied most adults.
Which might explain the price. The kids meals were like 6 bucks a piece, which is high for kids meals, but like I said...I think they were worth it.
The only thing I can really complain about is that we were charged for the refills on our soft drinks. I didn't expect that. I can't say if the menu specifies one way or the other, but I know I am pretty condtitioned to getting free refills at most places, so to get a bill with $12 worth of drinks was kind of a surprise.
But, I still give the place 5 stars, which should let you know how good it is.
