pssst - it's reopened!  Now called the R3 Hotel, it was pulled back from the brink of being torn down and is being restored to it's former glory by the original owners!!!  Yes, after watching the RRR slide into foreclosure the former owners from the 90s and early 00s purchased the property from the bank.  At this writing (Oct 2011) the rooms are open but the bar and restaurant are not.  They expect the bar to open soon, the restaurant later.  They have wonderful plans for the place!

I am so sad to find out that the RRR is closed and turned off so many people before doing so.  what a waste of time and money they spent fixing it up in 2007, sounds like it turned into a dump.
Someone needs to buy this place to keep the tradition going in Guerneville.

OMG. My husband and I have been at this place twice. I am so sad they are closed. I was looking forward to Karaoke this weekend. I had no idea they were closed. So sad.

I hope the new owners keep the karaoke weekends.

Warning - this is a HUGE party resort.  If you are not looking for a HUGE, all-day and all-night party, DO NOT stay here.

I recently stayed at the RRR while playing in a softball tournament up in Guerneville.  I had never been to the RRR so was surprised at what I found.

My room (as were most of the rooms) was literally a few steps from the pool and bar.  On the weekends, the pool/bar turn into a club with lots of loud music, partying and dancing.  Nothing wrong with that - the drinks and music were great and everyone was having a good time.

But the party doesn't stop, and since all the rooms are literally a few steps from the bar, you go along for the ride whether you want to or not.  The music blasts until 2 AM and people don't finally leave until around 3 AM or so, which makes sleeping impossible before then.  Again, nothing wrong with a party going until 3 AM.  But right outside your door when you're trying to sleep - not so much.  When we complained to the management, they said that was the way the place was so we just needed to deal with it.

The rooms themselves were very poor, tiny and run down.  I got the impression the hotel caters to people who want to party all day and night and not go to bed till they pass out, so the poor-quality rooms and noise aren't an issue.

Unless you're the kind of person who likes to sleep in the club/bar, I'd recommend coming here to party during the day and/or night but staying somewhere else.

I wish someone had told me what this place was about before I made my reservation, because I definitely would have stayed somewhere else.

Damn you mudslides!!!  you ruined my plans to drive home...and this time I had to get a room for the night.  I won't tell  you what happened in the room, but let's just say you're getting 5 stars...

Thanks for such a fun oasis in the woods!

    Hilariously, ostentatiously, loudly gay.

The Triple R is where all the gay menz hang out in the Russian River area.   Drinks are pricey but it's a destination bar.  Only a few blocks from main street in Guerneville, it's a quick walk but you feel like you've landed at a gay resort in the middle of nowhere.  We had a few drinks poolside and laid out in the sun for a few hours.  As we were leaving, we noticed Tiffany of "I think I'm alone now" fame walking in the door for a performance.  See what I mean?

I heard karaoke in the evenings is also a blast.

We drove up to L.A. to spend some relaxing time on the Russian River.  Our first night in town we decided to head out to the Russian River Resort.  They were having this show called "Jewish Girls Gone Bad."  It was absolutely hilarious!  We laughed and laughed, pretty much til we cried!

The service was excellent and everyone, customers included, were very friendly.  I particularly liked the bartender Rosemary.  She was a sweetheart with a great sense of humor.  My partner and I met many other people and ended up going to dinner and hanging out with some away from the RRR.  An absolute must if you are in town and a great place to get acquainted with the whole area.

every time spent here is the best time ever. I've never seen a more positive and fun atmosphere than at the Triple R. Free to be whomever you want is definitely the motto of this fine establishment. Comfy beds .Fun pool scene. whacky hot tub scene. I love the spirit of Guerneville, and love this resort.I'll definitely be back...maybe never to use the hot tub because it's a whacky ass scene, but oh I'll be back.

ps to the owners, the only thing I think could be improved is the lack of good cable stations.just a thought !

Going there, hanging out with my friends, checking out the guys (hooking up with guys), and all under the beautiful sun.  It truly is heaven to just lie by the pool and have a drink at the Triple R.  I always want to go back, but my friends all just want to stay in the city, maybe one day I'll just rent a car and go on my own.

And the best part of it all...My cell phone doesn't get any reception out there!  Just saying that phrase makes my heart skip a beat.

Not a bad little resort up in Guerneville.  My boyfriend and I stopped there because we'd been camping wanted to use the hot tub and pool.  It's open to non-guests if you buy a drink at the bar.

The crowd is definitely on the older side, as we were probably the only two people there under 40.  But, other than that it's not a bad place for a cool dip on a hot afternoon.  And the bar is spacious and has a great outdoor space.  Just watch out for old trolls dropping trow near the hot tub.  Nast!

We made two stops at the Triple R in one day.  The first was to enjoy the outdoor pool and get some sun on our skin and booze in our bellies.  Triple R totally delivered.

The second was just for the booze, since the sun had set hours before.  I guess we still got booze (and several free shots!), but we didn't order the karaoke that made our ears bleed!

I was tempted to get my tarot cards read by the lady(?) in the back room, but I think I got distracted by a vodka drink.

I love this place. I usually camp in Gurneville once a month. But being 8 months pregnant, I wasnt about to sleep in a tent. So we asked around and heard that the RRR was the place to be! So we booked a room!

We didnt know it at the time, but it was a big party weekend. Sometimes when there is a big event at a hotel, your reservation gets "lost" but not here. They welcomed us. We had a small room behind the Koi pond, and though it was tiny, it was clean and bright. Mattresses were uber comfy, hot water was plentiful, and each room had a mini fridge and a microwave!

They are within walking distance of all that the tiny town of Gurneville has to offer, but the hotel and the scene there make it hard to leave. It was fabulous.

A word of warning, if youre a light sleeper you wont like this hotel. We are used to sleeping at Burning Man, where there is loud techno 24/7. So we didnt mind the gay house music until 2 am, loud enough to make your water glass vibrate. But you might. So call ahead and find out if there is going to be a big party that weekend, or bring earmuffs.

To top it off, the staff welcomed us with a congratulatory note and a teddy bear for our baby-to-be. Super nice! Even though we are a hetero couple, everyone was still very nice, though most guests and staff are LGBTI.

It is a really fun nice family kind of environment. They kinda know you eventually and that helps a lot. I have been to bars where I am just a patron siting on a bar stool . Here people know who I am more and actually try and help out if there is a problem.

DANGER-The management checked me in as the wrong guest and then proceeded to run a series of charges that didn't match the original reservation. After being put into an overdraft position (they had no record of the original security deposit that was charged to me), I've been trying to contact management for almost two weeks with no phone calls returned. I've resorted to filing a claim with bank, letter writing, and this negative YELP review.
    USE CAUTION IF STAYING HERE!

My very first dining experience at the RRR. My party of four arrived during "Women's Weekend" last night. The waiter was overwhelmed as he explained that management sent the other staff members home because it was slow. Not sure why management would do that since obviously it was a busy weekend. Besides the entire dining experience taking up most of the evening and the fact that the menu offered very few vegetarian options, the food was tasty and the cocktails were delicious. I am still confused as to where they moved the piano bar as that might be my only reason to return.

Trying to escape the dismal fog of the city this past weekend, my partner and friend hopped in his BMW and drove to the sun!  We landed at the RRR just in time for brunch.  I have to say this was one delicous brunch.  All three of us had the Eggs Blackstone.  It was basically Eggs Benedict except they replaced the ham with crispy bacon and slow roasted tomatoes.  The hollandaise was perfect!  I honestly didn't have high hopes for it but the chef did a fanastic job.  And the little potatoes were crispy and not greasy just the way they should be!  We decided to hang out by the pool, read our Sunday paper, have a cocktail and enjoy the sunshine a bit.  Perfect day had by all!   If ever in the area check it out you will be surprised.

Arrived here on Christmas Day.  There was an event / fundraiser (16th Annual Celebrity Bartender's Marathon) going on that day / night which was a draw for some people, though I wasn't there for the event.  Expected the place would be staffed, even though it was a holiday.  And the place was charging the Holiday / Weekend rate (which was a lot higher than the winter rate.)

Showed up at 4:00 pm to check in.  Office was closed.  Had to seek out a desk clerk in the bar.  They had our reservation, but the room wasn't made up and was freezing.  Pellet stove wasn't all that intuitive.  Got the heat on, and fiancé and I and went back to be with family for the rest of the evening, after stopping by the office to make sure the room would be made up and the heater would be left on.

Came back to the hotel about 10:00 pm.  Room had been made up, but they were being very stingy with the towels; 2 bath towels, but only 1 face cloth and 1 hand towel.  No toiletries had been left in the room, save for 2 bars of soap.  (This is a gay resort?)  No other amenities in the bathroom.  Good news was that the pellet stove warmed the room up nicely.

Fiance and I dropped by the bar to see what was going on.  Entertainment for the event turned out to be bad karaoke.  Had one drink at the bar.  Didn't mind being overcharged, because the money went for charity.  Headed back to the room abt 11:15.

Pellet stove, though charming, proved to be incredible noisy.  Kept waking us up regularly as it turned on and off through the night; also made continuous noise as it fed pellets into the fire when it was on.  Shouldn't complain though, because the stove covered up the "music" from the bar.  When the event ended at midnight we then had to deal with loud guests finding their way to their rooms.  Was finally quiet enough to sleep about 2:30 am.

Will hit one of the "gay friendly" resorts rather than give my queer money to this place the next time I'm up at the river.

I would give this place ZERO stars if it were an option   It is the worst place I've ever stayed. I wish I had believed the reviews I read before coming here!  It's even worse than what I read!  This place is NOT a resort. It's a bar first and foremost. The accommodations are far below standard. Our room, which was just feet from the pool and bar, had a door that looked as though it had once been forcefully pushed open. The gap around the door let in light and sounds. The refrigerator didn't work. We were told "maintenance" would be sent over, but that never happened. The heat didn't work in the room and even though there was a thermostat in the room it didn't appear to be hooked up to anything. There was no coffee maker, no hair dryer, and no cups in the room. There were also no window coverings in the bathroom, giving us no privacy whatsoever. The rooms outside our waist-high bathroom window had a clear shot of us as we used the bathroom. What the bathroom did have was a big hole in the back of the door. As if this wasn't bad enough, there was no escaping the extremely loud music that continued until at least 3am. I felt like I was trying to sleep in the middle of the dance floor.  After that there were drunken people banging on doors and wandering about talking loudly. When morning came, there came the cleaning crew with their loud voices and the bar crew, filling up their supply of ice from the ice machine, getting ready for a new day. The only acceptable thing about the room was the comfortable bed. What good was it, though, if it was far too loud to sleep?  If you're a 20-something guy whose first priority is partying all night, this is the place for you. Everyone else:  FIND A DIFFERENT PLACE TO STAY.

The people and staff there were very nice, but I wish I had done a little more research before coming.

My bf and I had decided to come up for a more lowkey experience, but there were people yelling all night and groups of people having loud conversations outside our window each night, even after some polite requests that they move.  Just don't plan on getting to sleep before midnight.  If you do want to party all night, even on Sunday night, I think you'll have a lot of fun.

The room was decent.  Good size.  Good price.   A lot of dust!  Toilet kept clogging and staff was indifferent.  Broken remote control for TV.  Great water pressure in shower!  I loved it!  Rooms in back feel junky next to the garbage and utilities closets.  And pool is not heated.

I probably won't come back, but if the things above don't matter much to you you'll like the nice little place.

I just visited the Russian River Resort for the second time this week.  They have a new restaurant - Seahorse (the restaurant's owner also has Cape Fear in Duncans Mills) and the food is great!  The first night, I had the Mahogany Chicken - YUMMY and the second time, I had the Muscles with Linguine - Excellent.  The restaurant was a little noisy and during the second visit, they were very busy.  Stuart, the waiter was AWESOME and did well at juggling his guests.

I came here for dinner and drinks. The bloody Mary I had was the real deal, and I am a long term Bloodys fan and self proclaimed expert. They made it from scratch using all of the right ingredients, and then they brought it down a notch by using poor quality tomato juice. If it wasn't for that tomato juice the bloody woulda been a 5 star instead of a 3.5. That's okay though because my friend had some sort of Brazillian drink (not a mojito) which required lots of crushing and grinding and shaking of ingredients, and it was quite tasty. The bartender was young, handsome, and skilled- which is what you want at a gay resort. The bar was toasty with a raging fire and everyone seemd to know everyone else in this small town destination. We  were off to a strong start and then next was dinner... which was in another part of the resort, and well... the dining room was cold and loud! The heat wasn't on and the fireplace wasn't lit, and it was Christmas Eve and pouring outside! To top it off, they had all three ceiling fans rotating away as if we were in the tropics. In all fairness, the meal was super cheap, at just under twenty dollars per person. I wasn't expecting the moon and I feel over all, the food was about twenty bucks worth... but I have had much better for the same price. Perhaps I wouldn't have minded that the chef forgot to cut the gristle off my roast beef if I wasn't shivering and trying to talk over the disco/trance music blasting over the speakers. Trance? On Christmas Eve? No fire in the fireplace? The salad was that packaged stuff you get at Safeway. The rolls were too. We saw the waiter open the plastic bag and put the rolls in our bread basket. The cookies and cupcakes (the "dessert" choices) were clearly outta the box and off of the shelf of the local grocery store. At least the waiter was friendly and attentive. All in all, this is the sorta place you go to get a good drink, hang out in the bar and sing karaoke to meet local homos or vacationing queers and take them back to your room. The bar was good, but I would have needed a few more very strong drinks to enjoy that food.

The Russian River Resort is watering down its drinks again. I loved their Mudslide in past summers. They tasted fantastic and had a great kick. This weekend it tasted like a stale Yoo-Hoo soda and had the kick of a Nehi soda. Guerneville is a sad place this summer.
