As the post below notes, the owners sadly closed this TRH store for personal reasons.  For those longer standing fans, you may be interested in this letter I found from the owners: http://www.teamsheeper...

The good news is that their Menlo Park location, just a short drive (or longer run) from this former store, is still in great shape and offering their same terrific service levels:

...so I hope you'll continue to support the owners of TRH, one of my favorite specialty stores in any sector.

I was recently mentioning the Runner's High to someone and thought that I need to drop a review on this place. I got into running about three years ago, and a friend highly recommended this store. I made the drive down to Los Altos and it was totally worth it!

The person who helped me asked a ton of questions, did some measurements of my feet, observed how I walked without shoes, etc. He then recommended that I try on three pairs of shoes (not at the same time, which would just be weird) and do some jogging in their parking lot while he observed my gait. I ended up buying a pair of shoes that fit me like a glove, and have been buying the same shoes ever since.

Okay, at this point I need to mention that I'm not built like a runner, and the following conversation I had with a friend last year shows this (trust me, this is going somewhere):

Him: 'Dude, how was your weekend?"
Me: 'Cool. I went for a long run because I'm training for my first half marathon.'
Him: (chuckles, slowly shakes head)
Me: 'What the hell's so damn funny?'
Him: 'No offense dude, but you don't look like the type of guy who runs a half marathon.'
Me: 'Damn, you're right! Pass me that box of ding dongs, wouldja?'

(Okay, I did not utter that final comment...I also didn't beat my buddy down for clowning me about the half marathon)

Right now you're probably thinking that this has nothing to do with the Runner's High, but it does...I shared the above conversation to emphasize that they found the perfect shoe for me despite the fact that I don't have the prototypical runner's body, and this made my experience all the more impressive.

Check out this store, especially if you're thinking about getting into running! A good pair of shoes goes a long way towards reducing the risk of injury...

These guys were great until they were forced to close shop.  I went by just last week in hopes of getting some advice on a new pair of running shoes only to find a rather sad sign posted on their door thanking the community for their business throughout the years.  These guys offered unsurpassed expertise and I'm sad to see them go.

I've been running at Rancho San Antonio for a few seasons and these are the guys that I get my trail running shoes from. I'm not a super serious runner but they seem to cater to that crowd. Large selection of running and triathelete gear. Service is knowledgeable and friendly and for things that you can't find they'll special order it for you.

Really helpful and nice staff - Carlos (I think that was his name?) was totally patient and attentive in helping me with the tri-wetsuits, answering all of my stupid questions.  You can also try on shoes and they'll watch your form to see what's right for you.

One of the few stores I know of that carry Rudy Project.

A great place to get your running shoes and gear. Everyone who works here is a runner and can help with any questions you have, from beginner to expert.

RTH is a great speciality store for running shoes and outdoor items.  The have a great selection of clothes and shoes that you can not find at the "big-box" stores.  Most impressive is their staff.  They are extremely friendly and very knowledgable.  Since most of them are runners, they all have tips and suggestions they are willing to share with you.  The are a great Los Altos store
