It was my 35th birthday. I didn't want to go anywhere but my friends insisted we go somewhere and I was not officially a spinster cat lady yet.

So.. after much deliberation since my friends were at my mercy, I chose Ruggeri's.

Ruggeri's is kinda hidden in a plaza off Colleyville Blvd. The outside has striped awnings and there is an outdoor patio area.

We went inside and I was impressed. Brick archways, classy decor, soft music, beautiful table settings.  Our service was impeccable. The food was highly commendable. Ruggeri's touts itself as an Italian seafood restaurant and my friends who ordered fish dishes were raving about them.

Calamari appetizer... top notch. Best calamari I've had in DFW
house salad... non descript. Green leafy, not exciting
Veal Parm... great.
Friend's Lemon Sole stuffed with Crabmeat... WOW
Another Friend's Red Snapper ... WOW
The gentlemen said their chicken dishes were also superb but I didn't steal anything from their plates.
Chocolate Mousse Cake with a raspberry sauce.. magnificent
Rose for my birthday... awwwwwww

If you're taking someone on a date in the mid cities, this place is sure to impress with the classy atmosphere and great service.  I'd go with seafood dishes over something with just pasta. They also have an impressive wine list.

So far,.. this is the best Italian food I've found in DFW. Also, even though this is more of a date place, I did see some well behaved children in the place too.

So when my wife and I decided to venture to a new Italian place, I, of course, came onto Yelp to see what my friends suggest...and I took Diane's advice and we headed out to Ruggeri's.

It's a small place in the heart of Colleyville, not easily accessed. The directions tell you to take Village Ln. off of HWY 26 and my wife and I went on to Main St. from 26 and it took a lot of turning and twisting to find it. It helps that their sign is bright neon green in a sea of beige and off-white office complexes, but still, it's hard to find. Our waiter in fact said that he likes the fact that it's hidden, it means that they don't get a lot of random traffic but that their client list are family, people that know where it is and seek it out. That was an interesting tidbit.

The atmosphere is romantic, low lighting with live piano playing, well, it's an electric keyboard with the piano setting on, but you can't tell the difference. The owner, an older Italian-mobster-looking-gentleman, greeted us as soon as we walked in and took my wife's hand and kissed it...very Italian, very Godfather-esque. We were 1 of about 3 other couples in the entire restaurant, which we later learned from our excited-to-share-info waiter that it was because of the holidays, so it felt more personal. There was only 1 waiter to handle all three of us and he did an excellent job of making us feel as special and important as the rest.

I ordered the chicken parmigiana and my wife had the stuffed ravioli. My chicken parmigiana was very good, it had a nice crisp to the chicken but a very tender inside, and was served alongside angel hair pasta. My wife finished her entire plate, which tells me that it was really good. The ravioli's were stuffed with Italian sausage, cheese and it was laid upon a bead of tomato sauce and spinach. Both of our dishes were served with fresh and hot asparagus...which my wife ate for both of us since I do not like asparagus.

I ordered some homemade garlic bread that I don't think was homemade. I mean, I'm sure they put the garlic on themselves, but it tasted like store bought bread that I could have made. Save $5 and just eat the complimentary bread. You'll be satisfied.

It was nice to feel like family, which the staff went overboard in making sure we did, and even though a surprise guest singer jumped on with the piano player and missed a few keys here and there, it was a great experience. As we left, my wife received 2 red roses that were long stem and fresh...classy! We decided to make Ruggeri's part of our Italian routine and will definitely be going back!

Ate here a few days ago. The atmosphere is really nice, they had a person playing piano while the host and wait staff checked on tables.  The resteraunt appeared clean and well kept.

The food was good.  I had the fettuccine alfredo with chicken.  The food quality was good, my sister in law had their lasagna which after having a bite was great.  My nephew enjoyed the food as well but commented that it wasn't the greatest sauce he had ever eaten, but that it was good.  He had the ravioli.

If you are single and want a nice place to go and impress your date I think that this is one of those restaurants.  I recommend getting their lasagna.

I'm surprised no one has reviewed this restaurant yet.  Hubby and I just went for the first time for dinner this past weekend and I'll bet we'll be going back.  This place has really good Italian food - and a liquor license (I don't mind BYOB, but not all the time...).  I was impressed by the ambiance of the place - lots of oak and brick.  It had a classy, but comfortable feel to it and it's not overpriced Italian food.  Most of the entrees were priced under $20. The most expensive one I remember seeing was the veal chop at $32 (which hubby ordered).  I had the 'vitello di scampi' (or something like that).  Anyway it was like veal scaloppine with shrimp - tasty!  Hubby actually gave me a bite of his veal chop.  It was really good (if I had ordered it I don't know that I would have given anyone a bite).  I also ordered the cream of broccoli soup, which was the soup of the day.  It was good, but I wouldn't have guessed it was broccoli if they hadn't told me.  It seemed more like creamy potato-leek.  Regardless, I liked it.  For dessert we shared the zabaglione.  It's sort of like a loose custard served over fruit.  Very nice.  The service was attentive and very friendly.  I vacillated between giving them 4 and 5 stars (I'd really like to do something like 4.8), but since I can't think of anything that I didn't like about our evening, I must give it a 5.
