If not for one average note with the food, and the up and down service, it would be 5 stars.  As it was, this was the nicest evening we've had eating out in probably more than a year.  Romantic and charming without being stuffy, with food that (mostly) really impressed us.

The complimentary bread was wonderful, but we ignored the butter in favor of the garlic basil oil.  Wow.  We could not get enough of this.  It's one of those things that proves how Italian simplicity always seems to result in something blissful.

We got the appetizer combo - stuffed shrimp, blue crab legs and calamari fritti - all flawless.  The shrimp stuffing so savory, like the best crab cake, the blue crab legs delicious... and I can understand why they are famous for their calamari fritti.  Crisp and light, and the red sauce on top had an amazing depth and complexity that I would love to try to replicate at home.

For my entree, I went with the fettucine pescatore, which was good, but not great.  Clams, mussels, squid and shrimp were perfectly cooked, but the scallops were overdone and rubbery.  Thumbs up to the fresh, not dry, pasta, which was silky and light.  However, the sauce was nonexistent.  What was there was a thin pool of garlic butter in the bottom of the dish, which I found impossible to get a taste of in the bites on my fork.  Next time I will opt for spicy marinara, which I think would complement the style of this dish far better.

For his dinner, Steve chose one of the specials, osso buco served with polenta cake.  It was phenomenal.  Out of this world.  So tender, robust, meaty, and mmm the polenta cake.  Assertively savory, with a great punch of Parm-Reg in it, it was the first time either of us had truly enjoyed polenta in any form.  Total eye-opener.

I ordered a slice of house-made chocolate mousse cake for dessert.  It came with a raspberry and cream sauce on one side, and fresh strawberry and raspberry on the other.  It was fantastically chocolatey, with notes of coffee and cream.  I loved it.

Service was a bit bumpy at first.  We were instructed to wait at the bar for a table and then they forgot about us over there.  I had to go back to the front to ask to be seated again.  Then, when we first sat down, the bread was brought over with no butter or dipping oil.  It also took a while to get a waiter to introduce himself and start service with us.  I guess we felt a bit... brushed aside in general.  Perhaps it was our youth in the midst of an obviously established clientele; I really don't know.

Regardless, we will continue to go back and, in time, hopefully establish a relationship here.  The food and ambiance are definitely worth it.

Local Italian with decent food. Run by family and very friendly. You can buy wine or pay $7 corkage fee.  Started with the chopped salad.  Chopped lettuce cheese and Italian meats. Pretty good. I had a veal dish and my wife had chicken. Both were good. Also ordered the chocolate souflee for dessert. Not Italian? but pretty well done.
All told, good food for the price points and nice to have respectable Italian without driving to Dallas.

My family of 8 just had dinner at this restaurant tonight for a birthday dinner.  The food was very good, wait staff could not have been better.  The place was packed and still lots of attention.  Great ambiance.  My son had sea bass, and loved it, but said the portion was too small.  I had the osso buco and the portion was way too big.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed and we were there two and a half hours.

After a long day at work, I just wanted to eat somewhere close to home.  Ruggeri's was close and had decent rating so we were hoping our foodie selves would have a good meal.  We couldn't make up our minds if we should do all appetizers or order  entrees, too.  We definitely should have trusted our instincts.  The jumbo stuffed shrimp and soft-shell crab alla Ruggeri were good.  However, the soft-shell crab got a little oily after sitting there for 5 minutes.  After appetizers, our stuffy waiter brought out champagne sorbet to cleanse our palate. OMG, that was sooooooooooo goood and refreshing.  I really would careless about the whole dinner and just have sorbet as a meal.  I ordered the Scaloppine alla Carciofo.  The veal came out too chewy and   unflavorful.   The best part was the mushrooms...sad. OG ordered the Tournedos Miranda - chewy, and definitely not worth the $30.  Disappointing to say the least.  We were just eager to leave.  FAIL.

I've been meaning to write a review here every time I go - I have never had anything but a fabulous experience.  The food is spectacular!  The snapper is one of our favorites. The salad with meat and cheese is like a sandwich without all the bread. I order it every time :). We had the chopiono (sp?) which was so good I can't believe I haven't tried it before.   Service is friendly and prompt even when we don't sit at the bar. This is one of my top 3 restaurants!

Live in Grapevine, right up the street from the Village in Colleyville and would not have found this gem without the help of Yelp!
Went with my mom, sister and my two children on a Saturday evening. Lovely place, felt very old world and everyone that works there was so pleasant and kind. We had a great experience from start to finish.
The food was excellent, the service truly attentive and the piano payer was truly uplifting. Comments of an older clientele are true - we were the "youngest" table there, I loved it though - it felt very like family.

We shared the antipasti misto and garlic bread...I could just eat that all day, but we ordered more! Caprese salads and house salads then - I had the manicotti - three large crepes filled with in house ricotta, delicious! Mom had the crab stuffed salmon with lemon and loved it. Keri and Lauren had the spaghetti bolognese and there wasn't a noodle left. It had a good flavor and a little kick to it with the bolognese. Matthew ordered the toasted ravioli - there is not a kid's menu.

We were stuffed! Yet...ordered the key lime pie and creme brulee. Both excellent. We have put Ruggeri's on our rotation of places to visit often.

Based on suggestions from other reviewers we got the calamari and agree with everyone else. It was wonderful! Perfect batter and perfectly fried. Melted in your mouth! Everyone got something a little different and no one was disappointed. I had veal and it was great. The hubby had seafood stew which he loved. Mother-in-law had the angel hair and marinara and loved it! Father-in-law had the diablo seafood pasta and no complaints there either!! Finished off with the key lime pie and chocolate mouse cake. The key lime pie was the better than mouse, but both were good. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was impeccable.

Party of 7 at 9pm on a Saturday night didn't faze the staff at all. Very attentive to refilling waters and wine. Bread with infused olive oil was delicious, warm, and plentiful. Appetizers we ordered were the escargot (similar to ravioli almost), the mussels, and two orders of the antipasti-all of which were tasty and fresh. Entrees ranged from the lasagna to cioppino to shrimp/scallop primavera. Salads, specifically the spinach salad, were wonderful. Prices of the above entrees did not exceed $19. They also had a live pianist to entertain the patrons. The owner was there and gave the ladies a goodbye kiss on the hand when we left for the night (30 minutes after they "closed"). They treated us like family and we will definitely be back. The positive reviews and ratings do not lie. Give this place a shot when you are in the area. You won't be disappointed.

We always love dining here. It's about as close to being in Italy as you can find in this area. The salads and appetizers are great. Standard entrees, such as the filet, the chicken with spinach, and carbonara are first rate. I always have one of the fresh fish specials - tonight was copper river salmon, with crab and a lemon caper butter sauce. Try to remember to leave room for the souffle!

So when my wife and I decided to venture to a new Italian place, I, of course, came onto Yelp to see what my friends suggest...and I took Diane's advice and we headed out to Ruggeri's.

It's a small place in the heart of Colleyville, not easily accessed. The directions tell you to take Village Ln. off of HWY 26 and my wife and I went on to Main St. from 26 and it took a lot of turning and twisting to find it. It helps that their sign is bright neon green in a sea of beige and off-white office complexes, but still, it's hard to find. Our waiter in fact said that he likes the fact that it's hidden, it means that they don't get a lot of random traffic but that their client list are family, people that know where it is and seek it out. That was an interesting tidbit.

The atmosphere is romantic, low lighting with live piano playing, well, it's an electric keyboard with the piano setting on, but you can't tell the difference. The owner, an older Italian-mobster-looking-gentleman, greeted us as soon as we walked in and took my wife's hand and kissed it...very Italian, very Godfather-esque. We were 1 of about 3 other couples in the entire restaurant, which we later learned from our excited-to-share-info waiter that it was because of the holidays, so it felt more personal. There was only 1 waiter to handle all three of us and he did an excellent job of making us feel as special and important as the rest.

I ordered the chicken parmigiana and my wife had the stuffed ravioli. My chicken parmigiana was very good, it had a nice crisp to the chicken but a very tender inside, and was served alongside angel hair pasta. My wife finished her entire plate, which tells me that it was really good. The ravioli's were stuffed with Italian sausage, cheese and it was laid upon a bead of tomato sauce and spinach. Both of our dishes were served with fresh and hot asparagus...which my wife ate for both of us since I do not like asparagus.

I ordered some homemade garlic bread that I don't think was homemade. I mean, I'm sure they put the garlic on themselves, but it tasted like store bought bread that I could have made. Save $5 and just eat the complimentary bread. You'll be satisfied.

It was nice to feel like family, which the staff went overboard in making sure we did, and even though a surprise guest singer jumped on with the piano player and missed a few keys here and there, it was a great experience. As we left, my wife received 2 red roses that were long stem and fresh...classy! We decided to make Ruggeri's part of our Italian routine and will definitely be going back!

It was my 35th birthday. I didn't want to go anywhere but my friends insisted we go somewhere and I was not officially a spinster cat lady yet.

So.. after much deliberation since my friends were at my mercy, I chose Ruggeri's.

Ruggeri's is kinda hidden in a plaza off Colleyville Blvd. The outside has striped awnings and there is an outdoor patio area.

We went inside and I was impressed. Brick archways, classy decor, soft music, beautiful table settings.  Our service was impeccable. The food was highly commendable. Ruggeri's touts itself as an Italian seafood restaurant and my friends who ordered fish dishes were raving about them.

Calamari appetizer... top notch. Best calamari I've had in DFW
house salad... non descript. Green leafy, not exciting. skip it and save the tummy room.
Veal Parm... great meat, great crust but the red sauce is... well its not my favorite. If you order anything wihtout red sauce you'll be super happy.
Friend's Lemon Sole stuffed with Crabmeat... WOW
Another Friend's Red Snapper ... WOW
The gentlemen said their chicken dishes were also superb but I didn't steal anything from their plates.
Chocolate Mousse Cake with a raspberry sauce.. magnificent
    Rose for my birthday... awwwwwww

If you're taking someone on a date in the mid cities, this place is sure to impress with the classy atmosphere and great service.  I'd go with seafood dishes over something with just pasta. They also have an impressive wine list.

So far,.. this is the best Italian food I've found in DFW. Also, even though this is more of a date place, I did see some well behaved children in the place too.

Ate here a few days ago. The atmosphere is really nice, they had a person playing piano while the host and wait staff checked on tables.  The resteraunt appeared clean and well kept.

The food was good.  I had the fettuccine alfredo with chicken.  The food quality was good, my sister in law had their lasagna which after having a bite was great.  My nephew enjoyed the food as well but commented that it wasn't the greatest sauce he had ever eaten, but that it was good.  He had the ravioli.

If you are single and want a nice place to go and impress your date I think that this is one of those restaurants.  I recommend getting their lasagna.

We drove all the way to Southlake so my grandmother could to go to Costco. I was thrilled, since I could try a different restaurant than our usual fare of blah chain food in Flower Mound. I wanted Italian and we ended up at Ruggeri's.

This place is really nice but well-hidden! It is perhaps a bit dimly lit but they make you feel like family and welcome immediately. We got our menus and we all had some trouble reading it because the lights were so low. Granted, we were in the corner which was probably the darkest part in the room.
My mom ordered the lasagna and I ordered the Linguine Pescatore Diavalo.

Note that the lasagna is traditional and not the typical American one with ricotta and mozzarella cheese. It says it on the menu, but I guess my mom didn't/couldn't read the description. She liked it and all, but she still likes her American lasagna better! I thought it was good. It is not as rich as American lasagna, which I thought was a nice change. I liked the cheeses they put in it and the tomato sauce was fantastic.

My linguine was enjoyable. The noodles were very delicate and unlike the supermarket variety I have tasted. They were cooked perfectly and did not have that usual heavy feel to linguine. The mussels were so good and the scallops were great too. I don't recall having oysters on it. There could have been more shrimp on it but I was completely full and still had a lot left, so it was okay! The spicy tomato broth was the real winner though - I could eat that all day with a spoon. Would I order it again? Probably not, especially since they have so many other options to choose from.

As for what my grandma ate, I really don't remember. But she practically licked her plate clean and didn't share so she must have liked it!

For dessert, I got Key Lime Pie and my grandma got the Tiramisu.
I never had Tiramisu before (I was neglected as a kid when it came to Italian food.) but I think now I will have it more often! The Tiramisu was good,. It didn't look like a traditional tiramisu (as you see in pictures of soaked whole ladyfingers)  because it is ladyfinger cookies. The alcohol in it really made the dish amazing, even though it is sort of subtle.

What I REALLY wanted though was The Key Lime Pie. I had been craving it for months and if they got Key Lime Pie, I am going to get it dammit. First off, too much meringue! I also wanted more of a tart pie and it was rather sweet. But the crust? Completely saved it. The graham cracker crust was amazing and really one of the standouts from the evening.

Now the service is fantastic. I did have an empty water glass sometimes (I drink A LOT of water though and they serve it in a wine glass) but there was a man to always fill it up. The waiter entertained my New York grandmother by quizzing her on the history of some baseball team (Yankees? Mets? They are all boring to me...sorry, grandma.) and  we each got a rose at the end of our meal. The atmosphere is nice too - there was a pianst playing and it was not a stuffy enviroment at all.

In total, it was about $60 but we had an entertaining time and the food is good. If you want a great time with family or friends, Ruggeri's does the job well.

Wife and I celebrated our birthdays here last Saturday night.  After much debate as to where to spend the evening, we were both glad we chose Rugerri's.  Our waitress recommended a great Chianti (don't recall the name) and the fried calamari appetizer; both were fantastic.  Probably the best calamari I've had.  Both entrees were fantastic (seafood platter and a chicken/pasta dish).  The owner came by our table to check up on us; very personable gentleman.  He comped our after dinner drinks and dessert, which was a nice touch.  All in all, a great dining experience.  Highly recommend

We've been going to Ruggeri's for several years...since they opened in Colleyville.  We are certainly glad they have a loyal following as restaurants in that part of Colleyville are here today and gone tomorrow.  The food, ambiance, and service are all on par with anything we've experienced in New York City, with certainly better pricing.  They are always welcoming and glad to see you.  The Cioppino is almost as good as the stuff I make at home.  Visit and see why we give it 5 stars.

this place is really really good.

if you want italian and don't mind spending a little extra, this is the place for you. our waiter was great and very attentive. we started our dinner with a sampler of stuffed shrimp, calamari and crab claws. they were very tasty. my husband ordered the chicken carbonara and i ordered the chicken parm.

my husband raved at how great his dish was and it was pretty awesome. rich and creamy flavored with bacon. the chicken parm was just as delicious and was the perfect amount. enough to be stuffed but not too much to be rolled out of the restaurant.

ruggeri's is the first restaurant i've ever dined in that offered a small sample of wine sorbet as a pallet cleanser. definitely give it a try.

Ruggeri's is a wonderful find...that my wife and I have been eating at for several years now.  As you read through the reviews...you will be hard pressed to find anything negative to read; after all, this place is wonderful.  This is definitely not a restaurant for most of you "Olive Garden" fans; as the food is definitely more complex and yes...expensive.

The atmosphere is delightful and as many reviews have already noted...these people make you feel like family (okay...maybe better than family, since you don't have to do the dishes after your meal).  On Friday and Saturday evenings...they usually have a singer or someone playing the piano...which adds to the ambiance of the place.  In a hurry...don't stop here; they want you to take your time dining, much like you were in Italy (or Europe in general).  The owner is a charming older gentleman that ALWAYS makes the ladies feel special...be it with his old school charm and hospitality or with a rose at the end of the meal.

Now back to the food.  Our favorite appetizer is the stuffed shrimp, which is "slap yo mama" good.  Don't forget about the Caprese Salad..which is fresh and delightfully yummy as well.  Now that you are full from those two dishes, pick one of their specials or something off the normal menu...you won't be disappointed; we have NEVER ordered something that just wasn't outstanding.  The beef madallions or veal chops are a great choice for those carnivores out there (like myself) and for the pasta lovers...you might want to try the lasagna or manicotti.  But again...don't be a wimp and take a chance on something new....you are going to love it.

Several of my reviews thus far have dealt with BYOB places...well...this isn't going to follow that pattern.  Ruggeri's has a good (not great) wine selection (but I won't hold that against them...as it is definitely adequate for most wine palates.

Definitely one of our favorite places to take friends, family, and business guests.

We live in Colleyville and have seen this restaurant when we were last in the Town Square.  We had gone years ago and remembered that we really liked it.  We just forgot about the place.  We decided to go back for our date night and what a treat!  My husband ordered the lasagna and I ordered the Linguini Pescatore Fradiavolo.  Perfecto!!  I always order a diavolo at most italian restaurants that I go to and it is rare for a restaurant to cook it to perfection!  It was not too saucy, just the right amount of spice and so much good seafood in there!  I saw the previous review regarding the lack of pasta with the dish and that is because they fill it with the calamari.  It was delicious and very filling.  I ended up ignoring the linguini and focusing on the seafood, because it was a lot to eat!  The lasagna was equally good!  We also ordered a chocolate souffle that was amazing!  Even though I was absolutely stuffed from my dish, my husband and I were still duking it out for the souffle.

The ambiance was wonderful and there was a person playing a piano that was not too loud, but added to the ambiance.  I think we found our new favorite restaurant for date night!

We are exceptionally picky about our restaurants, and we thoroughly  enjoyed the food here. Most of the dishes including a variety of seafood dishes, pasta dishes and veal were excellent (spaghetti with marinara was good, but not as delicious as the others). Desserts were also excellent...including the cappuccino pie, cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake, and especially the key-lime pie.

I'm surprised no one has reviewed this restaurant yet.  Hubby and I just went for the first time for dinner this past weekend and I'll bet we'll be going back.  This place has really good Italian food - and a liquor license (I don't mind BYOB, but not all the time...).  I was impressed by the ambiance of the place - lots of oak and brick.  It had a classy, but comfortable feel to it and it's not overpriced Italian food.  Most of the entrees were priced under $20. The most expensive one I remember seeing was the veal chop at $32 (which hubby ordered).  I had the 'vitello di scampi' (or something like that).  Anyway it was like veal scaloppine with shrimp - tasty!  Hubby actually gave me a bite of his veal chop.  It was really good (if I had ordered it I don't know that I would have given anyone a bite).  I also ordered the cream of broccoli soup, which was the soup of the day.  It was good, but I wouldn't have guessed it was broccoli if they hadn't told me.  It seemed more like creamy potato-leek.  Regardless, I liked it.  For dessert we shared the zabaglione.  It's sort of like a loose custard served over fruit.  Very nice.  The service was attentive and very friendly.  I vacillated between giving them 4 and 5 stars (I'd really like to do something like 4.8), but since I can't think of anything that I didn't like about our evening, I must give it a 5.

I really, really, really wanted to love this place.  From the minute we walked in and I had my hand kissed by the genial owner, and then he kissed my 10 year olds hand, I was hooked.  It smelled great, there was lovely piano music and the atmosphere was calm and elegant, without being stuffy.  The calamari was delicious, as was the Caesar Salad.  We found the wine list expensive, with the cheapest glass of wine being $8.   The disappointment was with our entrees.   My husband ordered a chicken entree and the menu stated it came with appropriate vegetables.  What those veggiesconsisted of was a one inch square of spinach souffle, similar to stouffer's, and half of a canned peach.  Seriously.  No pasta on the side.  Was the chicken good?  Yes it was, but not outstanding.  My daughter ordered a half portion of spaghetti and meatballs and again....it was good, not great, and  I really believe the meatballs were of the frozen variety.  They had the same firm, but spongy texture.  I ordered the Linguini Pescatore Fradiavolo.  The sauce and seafood was delicious, but there was less than 1/3 cup cooked pasta in my bowl.  My daughter's child portion had more pasta.  I actually ate my dinner with a spoon, because there was so much sauce with the seafood, and so little pasta, it was like a soup.  Yes, the sauce was outstanding and the seafood was perfectly cooked.  However, I ordered a pasta dish and there was hardly any pasta.  The service was fine, though we did have to ask for bread 3 times.  For and $85 meal, I expected more.  The high points were so high, we may go back one more time to see if these were one time issues.
