I had to edit my review because I had bitched about the attitude of some of the servers I had in the past. To be fair, on my most recent visits I have received nothing but excellent, attentive, and attitude-free service from all of the awesome servers . I've been to Rudy's about ten times since January so it has definitely graduated to my favorite East Bay breakfast spot. I take all my friends from out of town here and they always love it. So, great job, Rudy's and its workers! You guys are doing fabulous job!
That being said, Rudy's is a place I really do enjoy going to. A bit of a noisy atmosphere but in a fun and vibrant way. Try to sit in the monkey room where all the tables have cool stuff in the tabletops, very fun and interesting.
The food is consistently good. The only complaint I've ever had is about their hash browns. I ordered a dish with them and they were basically mashed potatoes in the form of a patty. The server acted like I was an elitist bitch for having the nerve to ask for some that were actually cooked. How bourgeois of me! Aside from that, the service is generally really great and attentive. The Asian waitress who wears her hair in a pony tail is fabulous! She's awesome and I gave Rudy's an extra star pretty much because of her. Her service is EXEMPLARY!
Rudy's is definitely worth a try if you haven't been. I know I keep coming back.
About 15 minute wait on a Saturday night (around 10pm). Fast food service--we received our food within 5-7 minutes. Decent food... it didn't seem super unhealthy (like Denny's).
We tried the Shakin Jesse drink which is really good. You can barely taste the Guinness--just how I like it. It's super creamy and sweet...basically tastes like a coffee shake with a slight taste of Guinness.
I like the small diner feel of the place and the food DOES seem healthier than Denny's. I was not so happy with the myriad of condiments at every teeny little table... who really needs 3 types of hot sauces and 2 types of mustard and 1 bottle of ketchup and 2 large salt/pepper shakers and a cup of sugar for coffee AND jam .... no wonder people drop stuff while they are trying to get to their seats. I dropped the pepper shaker (on accident) and the person next to us dropped the mustard... I would prefer it if they had like a condiment section where you can select whatever condiments you want instead of having ALLLL of that clutter on each and every single table!
Overall, not a bad experience and it is a great place for you and your roommate or significant other to go to a cute lil' diner with 24 hr surveillance (but only open til 1am).
I live in Emeryville, so sometimes me and my roommate walk here.
We were trying to be regulars, but we haven't gone much lot lately.
I took my mom here, she likes Rudy's! We think my dad, a snobby midwestern man who hates most places, will like Rudy's too.
They get busy, but the food is always good, the staff is always friendly, and they have $2 PBR!
You should go here!
I love Rudy's. So much, we had our rehearsal dinner there. Great atmosphere, excellent service, dollar beers (after 9PM) and some of the best burgers in the Bay Area.
Why not 5 stars? They took my BBQ platter off the menu! Where will I get my midnight rib fix???
Can't Fail Cafe ey?
You pretty much failed me, but not in terms of ambiance. The superiority of my quality time there with my buds has made up for the dismal food for the night.
I ordered the California Burger, and there was avocado, but the avocado wasn't even really avocado instead they smushed it to get a half guac affect. Services was wonderful though, but food was meh. exactly meh. Patty seriously tasted like burgerking, which is high end of burger fastfood chains but still this is a sitdown restaurant, expect better.
Hard critic i know I know
We were seated within 10 minutes but was sad to watch the crowd behind us sit and wait while the table next to us sat empty. At one point a very pregnant woman left after being forced to stand for 30 minutes, and she was next in line!
Our server hardly said a word and mostly nodded at things. Super cool guy. Is this part of their M.O.?
Food was pretty good! We got the BBQ chicken sandwhich (sauce was spicy and pretty tomatoey, I liked it) Mile High sandwhich (REAL GOOD!!) fries were crispy and seasoned. Cole slaw was gross but I'm not a cole slaw person.
Props to the New Belgium selection.
I second the person who said she felt she was on a double date with the stranger next to her. We pretty much had dinner with the guy next to us.
I heard breakfast is better and less crowded. We'll go back and try that and maybe I'll upgrade my rating.
Stopped by here for a mid-day snack to satiate my craving for chili cheese fries and a milkshake. Interior was clean and eclectically decorated with random diner memorabilia - nothing super impressive, but cozy and relaxing. The wasn't much space in between tables, so it was a bit odd to feel like I was on a double date with complete strangers. In any case, the staff was friendly, took our order promptly, and food was delivered quickly; granted it was in the middle of the day between lunch and dinner time, but service was still spot on.
The chili cheese fries were good, but not great. Fries had a nice texture, but I prefer my chili more rich and hearty. Nonetheless, my craving for CC fries was satisfied. Hands down, the highlight of the trip was the "Shakin' Jesse". This crazy concoction is a Guinness stout, chocolate ice cream, and espresso milkshake! What is there not to like about this frozen delight?!? I may be a bit biased because Guinness is one of my favorite beers, but this milkshake is insanely good.
A few facts that make me smile:
- Daily weekday specials, served after 11:30am (~$10.50)
- Open till 1am everyday! (the east bay is definitely lacking in late night eateries)
If you're craving a cold treat, put on your 50's cat eye glasses and your leather jacket and head over to Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe for a Shakin' Jesse that will knock your socks off.
Very enjoyable place to have breakfast and just by looking at the daily specials, dinner would have been great too. Not to sure what to say about there breakfast but it hit the spot. Best part was the apple smoke chicken sausage, it was delicious. If I was a local I would definitely come back to this place over and over.
The decor was great as well, I loved the epoxy filled tables. I had the Perry Mason "Clue" game under mine. They lost a star for coffee service, although this wasn't the first place that didn't offer refill my cup. Is this a Bay thing?
P.S. They had 4 different styles of New Belgium on tap which definitely puts it up there in my book.
I'd like to give two and a half stars if I could since it wasn't too bad.
Everything was okay, aside from being tragically hip, which I knew I was in for and that's like the deal there, but one thing really REALLY frosted my cookies.
This place is supposed to be known for being all yummy and Vegan friendly- right? So my best friend (who also happens to be Vegan- boo, but I love her) is here from non-vegan friendly Southern California. I am totally excited to take here here and have her non-dairy cream her pants. So we order, service was fine, waitress not overly punker than thou and then my girlfriend asks for some veganaisse for her "burger" . The waitress replies no and that they don't carry it.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So this spot is in the east bay, home of dietarily challenged and/or vegan folk who want the stuff, is touted to cater to the Vegan sect and they don't think they need to carry a wittle jar of veganaisse?
This totally irked me. My food was okay but this grave injustice is really quite enough to keep me from walking through it's doors again until they get an f'ing jar of whipped up soy weirdness.
Rudy's CAN fail. (Sorry, they kind of asked for that...)
The french toast I had was great but the service was atrocious. It was so noisy inside.
I wrote the above review awhle back, and have since returned, and experienced much better service the second time. also, it was a "breakfast for dinner" moment the second time, whereas the first visit i was there at actual brunch time, so maybe this made a difference. skip the chocolate cake...not good at all.
Best place to eat in E-ville! From the generously tattooed servers to the super fast service, Rudy's is the best diner in the area! They get extra points for their numerous vegetarian items on the menu. They are also very clearly marked! Of course I'm biased because I eat there weekly. But it's great! Super good dark coffee. Great breakfasts - and good for vegetarians!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. My friend brought me there for the first time, and we had a taco salad. It was the best taco salad I've had, and we always go back for the taco salad.
Decided to stop here to grab a bite to eat before heading to a party.
It was around 11pm at night and I was surprised to see how many folks were in there.
It was jammed packed!!!
I've passed this place so many times and wanted to try it.
I wasn't impressed.
The service when you first entered sucked. You walk in, write your name on this clipboard and then you wait, and you wait, and you wait. No one even acknowledges you! HORRIBLE!!!
We finally got seated and my waitress (a guy name Taylor) was great!!!
I ordered a veggie burger w/fries. It was good!!!
I've had better. Glad I tried it. Now I know I wasn't missing much!
Came here when I was on vacation in San Francisco with a local who is super enthusiastic about the music that is associated with Rudy's. I'm enthusiastic about food.
Apparently, Rudy's provides on both accords, as my meal was just awesome. It was just a tuna melt, but it wasn't just any tuna melt. It felt like I had adopted a new mother for the meal, asked her to whip up some special tuna melt thing and serve it to me. Thanks Rudy's. Oh, and anywhere that has sweet potato fries, I'm there. I love that damn spud. Will be back someday, I'm sure.
I'm not really a fan of breakfast, but I am a fan of Can't Fail. It gets really crowded, so don't go when you are already hungry, go at LEAST 20 minutes before you are hungry.
Also, be careful.... that perceived free coffee, [whispering] is not free. Yeah Rudy... fail on that.
Bleu cheese and bacon burger definitely "can't fail"--a pretty delicious burger I might say. Came here for lunch with co-workers and was surprised by the amount of people already sitting down at 12pm that we were able to get a table for three so quickly. Service was pretty quick and the atmosphere was great. Liked the interesting decor everywhere. The Toy Story table we sat at and the Barrel o Monkeys on the wall were cool. Would come back to try something else--had my eye on the macaroni and cheese!
I eat at Rudy's every time I am in the bay area. I love good diner food, and Rudy's takes it up a notch. They have a great variety of vegetarian, vegan, and meat dishes to satisfy any diner. Their veggie sausage tofu scramble is delicious. I suggest going there for brunch when their breakfast menu is expanded. Delicious food!
Another gem of a place with dirty decor but great food.
I ordered the Nachos with beef chili because I A.) Didn't carry a lot of cash B.) Wasn't very hungry
Anyways, my nachos were bomb! Loads of cheese, hearty, flavorful chili, a generous dollop of guacamole, sour cream, and fresh salsa. My friends kept reaching over to my plate for seconds.
Out of all those oldie diners I've dined at, this place had the best food.
This place is hit or miss. I've been here at least a dozen times and it's either amazing or depressing.
The first time I ate here service was speedy. My veggie burger was perfection and my boyfriend loved his real burger. The fries were crisp but soft inside. Our server was sweet and prompt with everything.
The next time, it was a different restaurant. We stood without being greeted for what seemed like forever. After finally getting our table, we watched our server take the orders of someone who got sat after we did. It wasn't one of those server situations where the customer forces you by launching into the food order before you were ready. No, I was listening. The server clearly asked for their order, took it, and then disappeared for another 5 minutes. Not surprisingly, the food was underwhelming and tasted lower quality than Denny's. How could this same veggie burger patty turn into mush in the wrong chef's hands?
Get your team together Rudy's! You are only as good as your worst customer experience. I'm sure you can do it, but you need some morale and consistency. Don't be jaded from the hipster crowd who infest your dining room.
The only thing I don't like about this place is that the very mention of it's name get's The Clash's song stuck in my head for a few hours (I like the song, but it drives me a little batty when my brain is playing it on repeat).
That aside, this place has some good, sturdy, Vegan-friendly (enough) American diner food.
Boyfriend and I went there on a Tuesday night, the place was busy, but we managed to score a booth table none the less.
I ordered a basket of sweet potato fries (how could I not??), and a cup of the veggie chili. The fries were crisp and yum, and the chili was homemade with a little kick. I washed it down with a pint of Mothership Wit. It hit the spot.
The boyfriend ordered the portobello veggie burger, which he nommed down without complaint, so I'm assuming it was good.
Our waitress and busser were both very nice, and on it that night.
I will definitely be back soon, this time for the dollar beers after 9pm.
Also, there's an amazing looking Guiness ice cream float w/ espresso on the menu that I really want to try... but I don't think they have vegan ice cream.... arg.
Maybe I'll bring a pint of soy ice cream and have them make me a special vegan version. A girl can dream, right?
A friend insisted on Rudy's for brunch on Sunday. I'm not too keen on driving a great distance to get breakfast or lunch but I decided to indulge her and head to e'ville anyway. In the end, I wish I hadn't as while the food wasn't terrible, there wasn't anything that warranted a special trip for brunch.
Rudy's is clearly very popular. You've got to wait a while for a table and they do pack them in inside. The service was ok, the coffee came in big cups and the decor is probably the best thing about the place. While as predictable as any franchise restaurant that loves its flair, there is a tasteful amount of playful toys and retro-childhood memorabilia frozen in amber (I get it, that's pretty clever) on the tabletops. As well, there are enough stylized American diner cues to have you understand that the place is essentially a diner with a "twist".
So, what's the twist? Well, besides the decor (which, though predictable is impressively tight) the food is not your average diner fare. Yes, there are burgers and such, but the careful attention to detail elevates it above diner and dive status (which is unfortunate because I love that). My dining companion had some Hollondaise-type dish that looked really good, served on a big, fat piece of cristy bread. She seemed to enjoy it and it was certainly presented quite perfectly. I had a breakfast burrito with a side of black beans that was good-n-turrible. The burrito was perfectly rolled up and the the beans and pico were perfectly portioned on the dish. The taste was OK, but really lacking in meat.
I've focused on the aesthetics of the food and overall decor because that's the best thing about Rudy's. What would be great, in my eyes, is if the visual fest at Rudy's was paired with an actual feast of sloppy, more dive-inspired food that was still rich in flavors and inventive in creation. What is served at Rudy's certainly doesn't suck but it is just overwhelmed by the attention to detail and design that creates an expectation for something truly special and just fails in the long run.
Oh Rudy! You stud you!
Everytime i come i order the same thing. Tuna melt that comes with tomatoes and pickles. Delicious. I love their fries, some of the best i've ever had. And their specials? Awesome. I've been needing to try their fried chicken but everytime i go for some reason i've already had fried chicken that week. Damnit! And i've been meaning to try their mac and cheese.
Hands down a great default is you cant think of anything else to eat. Always rewarding.
Only downfall, their house dressing? I think that was it, for some reason it tasted like nail polish remover. But I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was just a strange batch that was made up that day.
I really can't stand Emeryville. I come here every day for work and it depresses the hell out of me. It is bummertown, USA.
But Rudy's sometimes perks me up. I like the Guinness milkshake, the vegan donuts, the tuna melt, and the fries. The service isn't the greatest but it's not terrible either. Mostly tattooed fashion punks.
Rudy's coffee is rocket fuel and comes in huge mugs. Bonus!
This place is a very unique diner. If you look inside, it's not your usual 60's diner. The decor is what I would call out of this world, in a positive way of course.
The service was good. Our waitress was friendly and cracked a joke with us. The place was kinda busy when we first got in, but we didn't have to wait too long for the food.
I ordered a patty melt that came with fries. The patty melt was really good. They make their patty melts with thousand island dressing. I've never had a patty melt with thousand island before, but it is a GOOD combination! The fries to compliment it was also delicious. It was made to a perfection, so my buddies couldn't stop freeloading off my plate. It's all good because I couldn't stop freeloading off my friend's nachos. The chips were nice and crispy and was topped with the works (sour cream, guacamole, beans, etc.) . They did not go wrong with those nachos.
For drinks, I ordered a sake screwdriver. And I can tell you that it tasted good, meaning it needed more kick. I didn't taste much of the sake and it didn't get my buzzed or anything. I felt like I paid 5 bucks for an orange juice.
If I lived in Emeryville, I can totally see myself coming in the mornings for coffee. They have a starbucks-like set up in the front. Heck, I can see myself coming back for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. End of story.
It's a solid breakfast joint with good coffee and great service. It won't move the universe. And it's likely not worth the wait, the prices and the hype unless you're vegetarian and in Emeryville for something else. The branding -- the atmosphere, t-shirts, attitude and great tagline (Serving E'ville since...) -- is what really seems to draw people here. Good for them. I just want the world's best french toast for all that cost and hassle.
A nice place to hang out on late nights.
Average service, average food but it's just
an awesome place, surrounded by weird barbie dolls.
Go on Halloween everyone's dressed up even the employees of
Pixar.
I see you....
alrighty..... there is something about this place.... convince perhaps? I don't know but I keep coming back!
Now, I've tried a various amount of sandwiches and the breakfast burrito and I still must say that the this place can be a hit or miss BUT when it is a hit, it just makes me want to over ride all the misses and keep on coming back! Hopefully this place can learn how to keep on being consistent in their quality of food and service.

I found this place to be nothing special... nothing special at all.
I had the french toast which was… Read more »
I absolutely love Rudy's! I moved to Emeryville about a year ago and have been going there as often as I can. The environment is awesome; with toys and games everywhere!
I was taking a drama class and every Wednesday about 15-20 of us would just walk in and they accommodated us well each time! Thank you Rudy's keep it up!
This place has gone downhill. Over the last few months, the service has gotten terrible, the food is less than stellar, and the environment has gotten increasingly annoying. They hit their peak in popularity, and you can tell that they just don't really care anymore.
Service is absolutely horrendous. Every single person that works there is either rude, or so distant that it's clear they have no desire to make you a happy customer. They seem annoyed to be there taking your orders.
Also, the food hasn't been so good lately either. I've had a few meals that were still a little cold from the freezer, if you know what I mean. Sometimes it's okay, but for the most part it's been so-so.
And lastly, I swear every time I step foot in there, the music they're playing is blasting louder, and it's increasingly hard to hear anything. It's an annoying environment, and rude and unhelpful service certainly isn't helping the cause.
Don't waste your time anymore, honestly. Sure, they're open late... but that's about all they have going for them these days. If you want a solid inexpensive breakfast or lunch, Doyle Street Cafe is a much better choice. Rockin' service, and killer food.

HORRIBLE SERVICE!
We're just local folk looking for some lunch. We sat down at noon.
Our server did not even notice us until 15 minutes later.
We ordered burgers, nothing fancy.
Another 15 minutes passed, then another 15.
We kindly inquired about our order twice after sitting there for over 40 minutes. Two to three other couples had sat down before us, ordered, ate, paid and left.
Still no food!
Fail Excuse #1:
The kitchen was backed up, though this doesnt explain how other groups small and large got their food first.
Fail Excuse # 2: Yea, well done burgers take a while...
Even the couple next to us showed concerned and confusion on why it took so long for us to get service.
No apologies for the delay.
Could it be that we were not hip enough? Should I have shown my tramp stamp?
We gave up after patiently waiting over 50 minutes and ended up going to Fudruckers and got our complete meal within 15minutes. We really want to support local businesses but we just could not wait this long to get some burgers.
You would think in this economy, wait staff and small businesses would provide exceptional service to keep their customers happy and maintain a steady flow of business.
Rudy, WTF?
Rudy's Cafe Failed us this day
I was starting to like this place. Until one day a coworker and I went and ordered something to go. We proceeded to order and stood around waiting for our food. The kitchen is near the waiting area, and we saw this one server start eating fries off someone's plate before he brought it out! To top that off, he looked over at my coworker, and you would think he would have stopped. But no. What continued boggled our minds to this day. He turned back around, looked at the big pot of fries sitting out (that they scoop for all the orders) and starts eating from there! Fuck that. I don't want to be eating the server's leftovers.
The food here is good, but I am not so confident about what happens behind the scenes as illustrated by my experience.
To our server on Sunday, Taylor (or I assume that is his name because that is what was on my receipt), please don't hate life so much. It makes it difficult to eat breakfast.

The chicken pesto club is awesome! But I don't recommend it if you have stuff to do immediately… Read more »
First of all, you aren't even acknowledged (let alone welcomed) when you enter the front door, even if there are no other customers there and there are three or four wait people standing around chatting. Secondly, once you are seated the menus are slapped down in front of you. Thirdly, a supercilious wait person eventually comes over to take your order, with not even a hint of trying to act pleased to be able to help you; in fact, the person acts annoyed to have had to break up their chat with the other wait people. The one good thing is that the food was good - not excellent, but certainly not bad. The wait person then scoops up your plates and leaves the bill. For this they expect a tip??
I'd rather eat mediocre food served by people who are at least happy to have customers and understand what's minimally expected of a server at a restaurant than to eat okay food served by bored and cooler-than-thou droids pretending to be wait staff.
Yummmmmmm.... I came here for the first time on Saturday, and it definitely won't be my last. I can't remember the exact name of my meal, but it was corned beef topped with eggs Benedict topped with creamy hollandaise sauce; very flavorful! My favorite thing is actually a shake called the Shakin Jessie. The shankin Jessie is MUST have when you go, trust me and you won't be disappointed.
I personally really enjoy the ambiance at the cafe. It's really eclectic and fun. My only recommendation is to expect a pretty decent wait before getting seated. The wait is worth it.
Went in the other night with a friend. I was starving and wanted to eat before heading to a bar. I got a grilled cheese with avocado. It was alright. The bread was kinda thin, but toasty. Cheesy goodness was lovely. The avocado was actually guac, and was kind of tangy (from the lemon, I'm assuming/hoping), which I didn't like very much; plus, everytime I took abite, the guac would splooge everywhere (sorry for the graphic word, but it fit). Fries were not too greasy, average good fries.
My friend got a coffee and a slice of the coconut cream pie. They said they wanted it because there were so many in the case, twirling around. Now I know why there were so many still left. The damned thing tasted like coconut lotion. The consistency did'nt help at all, since it felt like coconut lotion in my mouth. I hate coconut scented lotion; I won't even put it on my body. And to eat, well, no thank you. After proclaiming it tasted like lotion, my friend said I ruined their pie. I didn't ruin their pie; the pie-makers did.
Other than the nasty pie, I enjoyed my experience there. It was busy, a little noisy, full of hip people. My favorite part was our waiter. She had the biggest smile on. I think she really digs trannies, cuz she could not stop smiling when she came over to talk to us. Oh yeah...
Ahhhh Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe. What can I say about it. It has unique decor and strange tables with various toys embedded in them, they have barbie figures that somewhat look like some of their staff, and you can definitely tell that most of their employees are emo, hipster, tight low cut wearing, and all-black-apparel-preferenced individuals.
I can actually remember our waiter's jeans were so low that when he came up to take my friend and I's order he was practically shoving his happy trail in our face, not the most appetizing thing to see.
Apart from that they offer a good $1 beer special after 9PM, granted they only carry domestic, but still a good deal none the less.
The food is a little pricey and I usually order an appetizer b/c the entrees are $$. I did enjoy the sweet potato fries as well as the BBQ tofu.
Love it or hate it I've had lots of fun and interesting nights at RCFC. I think anyone visiting the Emeryville area their first time, this is a good place to check out for the decor and pleasant appetizers. Oh and did I mention that it's across the street from Pixar Animation Studios?
i met some homies here before my flight out of Oakland. cool little joint in a random neighborhood. they live in Berkeley so they suggested it. i had the tuna melt w/ salad. every bit of it was delicious! bangin. i also loved the nice selection of brews here. i got the laganitus ipa which was the perfect combo w/ my food.
good joint with lots of tasty looking options.
This is the only place I've ever stiffed a waiter -- no tip.
Although I've been here before and waited so long that I had to leave without getting my food, I work really close so I am sometimes dragged in by co-workers. Bottom line, unless you are the first seating at lunch, you're screwed. It will take forever, none of your food will come out at the same time, and what does come out will be bad. Probably the issue is that the kitchen is just too small, but another issue is that it's really poorly managed and the wait staff are assholes. My most recent visit, which is typical, the people next to us ordered after us and got their food before us, then our food cameabout 10 minutes later -- for two of us. Unfortunately the grilled cheese our 3rd companion got took another 10 minutes. I know, it takes a really long time to make grilled cheese, but... oh, wait a minute -- grilled cheese can be made in a restaurant in FORTY FIVE SECONDS.
Anyway, it was dropped in front of her from about three inches above the warping, yellowed, no-longer-hip, toy filled acyrlic table with a "that was weird it took so long." What was weird was that I made the mistake of going back in the place, instead of doing something more productive, like smashing my head against a wall or pounding nails into my thighs. Ultimately I blame Seoul on Wheels for not being in Emeryville today.
The food is very up and down. My burger was obviously frozen -- fresh patties don't retain 90-degree, hockey-puck-like edges. That's inexcusable when 20% of the menu's space is devoted to burgers. The fries sucked (they're Wendy's style, and seasoned, but were mushy). In the food's defense, the buffalo chicken salad is pretty good, and I had some squash soup there on another visit that was great, maybe three years ago.
When I went up to pay (10 minutes of waiting resulted in no one picking up the check), the waiter was like "yeah that was weird the food took so long," but it wasn't that weird, it's happened before to me at least four times in the past year or two, and at least twice before with the same waiter. Maybe he forgets to put in the orders? Maybe he's just a dipshit? Or maybe it's my fault for going back to the scene of so many immemorable meals in the past. Hence, no tip.
I feel marginally bad about that because as I was saying "I can't believe you left the grilled cheese on the bill" he was like "I didn't charge you for the drinks." But, frankly the time to tell us that was when you dropped off the bill, but of course, he sort of threw it at us and didn't say anything. He finally got all pissed off and called me a name when he saw that I was actually stiffing him.
Anyway, the good part was since I was with my co-workers, I now probably will never have to go back to this shit hole again.
One last little turd... Thinking of calling in an order for take out? Think again. They charge a 15% service charge on many take-out orders, which they don't mention when you order.
They get thumbs up for the patio and the grilled tuna melt. The salads are good, and I like the daily specials. The servers, however, can be stand-offish. I had a business lunch here, and my client was extremely put off by the server's indifference. They used to have a great corned beef hash for breakfast, but last time I had it I was sad.
Went here totally hung over for brunch before heading into the city- so my recollection is tinted with that fuzziness one gets before the first weekend breakfast cocktail- which I had here- a delicious Cyrpus- grapefruit and champagne... for my solid meal I ordered Vegan Tofu Chilaquiles- which were delightfully spicy and filling and tasty-
I will definitely be here again.
And seriously- whatever about the hipsters people- is anyone else sick of the incessant whining about hipsters? gawd...it makes you sound exactly like what you're complaining about!
Just eat your damn breakfast and shut up! Well, I guess some people always have to have something to complain about...
