I had my wedding here on 10/4/2009. This is THE BEST place to get married!!! From the beginning planning phases, to the wedding rehearsal, to the actual wedding. Here is why:

1) This place is BEAUTIFUL! It is very classy (the houses are absolutely jaw dropping on your way to Ruby Hill). The grounds are very well kept and simply stunning. We had the ceremony out on the terrace surrounded by columns and vines. Inside the reception was in the two story ballroom with a gorgeous staircase leading down into the room - which is where we had our bridal party intros. We added uplighting which really complimented the room. I can't wait to see my pictures!!

2) The food is awesome!! We had a tasting at the Palm Event center as well. This place wins by far! It is prepared by a chef - not a catering service. The chicken piccata is sooooo good. It was the first bite of food I had at my wedding and I just had to stop and savor it (before wolfing down the rest so I could go do table greetings!!!). I have received a lot of compliments on the food at the wedding.

3) Last but not least: You will be taken care of on your wedding day! Bernie Fitzsimmons was our coordinator and she was fantastic. She is a pro and a very nice (and sweet) lady. Things ran soooo smoothly at our wedding. I didn't have to worry about a thing. And Bernie has a very calm demeanor that helps you calm down. The days leading up to your wedding can get crazy and you will appreciate this quality about her.

My wedding was beautiful and I am so glad we decided to have it at Ruby Hill. We were also considering: Wente, Palm Event Center, Casa Real, and we looked at a lot of golf courses in the Pleasanton/Livermore area as well. Many people don't realize you do not have to be a member of Ruby Hill to have your wedding there. It is open to everyone.

Just be warned - if you go check it out, you will fall in love!! :)

I grew up around here and used to caddy here so I've played the course dozens of times.  DO NOT EVER PASS UP AN OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY HERE IF INVITED BY A MEMBER.  Sure, you may have played Nicklaus courses before, but you most likely have not played many Nicklaus Signature courses.  You see, Jack has a course design company where he often designs one hole and puts his name on the whole course.  Here at Ruby, he designed every hole.  The finishing holes are awesome, 13-18, and can be quite exciting if you've got money riding on them, which is likely given the fun spirited members here.

You gotta play here in the morning because she can really blow in the afternoon on the back 9.

Practice facilities and the grill are excellent.

Please note:  It is a challenge to do a straight diagonal line within another design, thus the reader must possess a forgiving visual decision.  (The ASCii is a Heart with two golf clubs)

The Ruby Hill Golf Country Club was the venue my son and his bride selected for their wedding and reception.  Not only did I marvel at Berni (the resident wedding coordinator) who ran this mother ship so tight a flea couldn't crash it.

[  Removed ]

It was a perfect wedding, the bride did all the planning without any feverish Bridezilla episode.  I embraced and welcomed her with the traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony and look forward to their life together.

We held our wedding reception here last month. I absolutely fell in love with this place the moment i walked in the door. This was the first venue we checked out after i did all the research, and after checking out a few other spots, nothing compared to this place. It has absolutely breathtaking views driving up to this place, and not to mention multi-million dollar mansions. It felt like we were driving through an episode of MTV cribs.

But not only is this place absolutely BEAUTIFUL, the food and service here is also fabulous.  Top notch chefs, and great portions as well. I was pleasantly surprised. This place was not cheap, by any means. But I figured I will have only one wedding, so why not splurge and have it be everything i wanted it to be.

The only reason i'm not giving this place 5 stars is simply because poor Berni (the event coordinator) was sick with walking pneumonia and could not direct our wedding the day of =(

Throughout the wedding process, she was fabulous and always returned my emails in a timely manner. She was super organized and very professional. She has an OCD type personality like me, and likes everything perfect, and that's why we got a long so well. Well...2 days before our wedding, we find out she is sick with pneumonia, and her assistant took over instead. Of course, you couldn't imagine what was racing through my head...the biggest event of my life thus far, all the planning involved thus far..........let's just say i was not a happy camper.

But i went with the flow, i mean there was nothing else that can be done at that point. (although if Berni mentioned it to me a week prior that she was under the weather..i would've prescribed her a Z-pak and called it a day!!).

Our reception was absolutely beautiful. Minimal decor was needed here.  I wouldn't say everything went flawlessly, and there was some screw ups that i know if Berni was there, would have never happened. No one knew, and everyone had a blast. (THANKS TO OPEN BAR & AN AWESOME DJ).  I had the wedding of MY DREAMS!!!  Thanks Berni, and thanks Ruby Hills =)

Came here this past Saturday evening for a small 150 people wedding. Lovely venue, beautiful scenery and romantic ambiance.... especially during sunset.

Food is a 2-star: I had the chicken which was actually pretty good, my roommate had the beef and it was way over cooked. The champagne was decent, the bread was good, salad was not good, and the coffee was ehh...

Venue gets 4 stars for how nicely decorated and romantic everything was set up.

So average a 3-star.

We recently got married here on 8/9 and it was the wedding of our dreams! We knew right away from the moment we drove into the estate in our early stages of planning that we wanted to get married here. It was everything we imagined and thought it could be!

Berni and the R.H. staff was able to take our vision and help make it into a reality. It was such a pleasure to work with Berni. Anytime I had questions or needed help, she was always there for me every step of the way. She really knows her craft and wasn't afraid to give us suggestions along the way. We really felt the support of the R.H. staff and we felt like a team! Special thanks to both Diane and Alex for helping us on our Wedding day too!!

We are so elated!! Thank you for the wonderful memories!

I've been meaning to write this review for some time and am shocked to see the horribly negative review on here regarding Berni!!!

When I first started planing my wedding, speaking with Berni was a DELIGHT. I feel that as a bride we have higher expectations on customer service, and how personable the vendors, etc are, and Berni exceeded my expectations and set the bar for others that I have worked with since. Had my fiance and I not gotten stuck on having a seaside wedding , we would be getting married at Ruby Hill.

Working with Berni to gather information and quotes was a breeze...I never experienced trouble with call-backs, or "stubbornness." Although I chose to have my wedding elsewhere, I felt so at ease speaking to Berni that I called her to get referrals on vendors because I trusted that she had to work with people as compassionate as she. I was so right! Berni pointed me in the right direction for an officiant, and DJ, and also had many great resources for floral designers. I feel like it was meant to be that I met her, because I LOVE all of my vendors.

Ruby Hill is such a gorgeous venue, and also offers space, privacy, and flexibility. Since I work part-time at a local winery, I wanted to pour wine from where I work...Ruby Hill had no problem accommodating that wish.

I've been lucky enough to attend a wedding here in the past and the food was the BEST I have ever had at a wedding. It was piping hot when it got to the table, an obvious sign that it had just been plated. The servers knew what went where without blinking an eye...I love that kind of service.

I'd definitely recommend Ruby Hill and Berni specifically to anyone looking for a venue in this area! It never hurts to have a tour and meet with people...even if you don't end up getting married at a certain place, it may be worth your while, just like it was mine!

this place is WOW.... i'm not a wedding snob, but this place is OFF THE HOOK for weddings (i attended a wedding here). probably the classiest and most grand wedding reception i've been to so far as far as venues and open bar is concerned. i think the only venue i've seen thats more grand than here is probably SF city hall (mind you, i haven't gone to THAT many crazy weddings)

on top of that, usually you pretty much go to weddings knowing that the food will usually be around a 2, i think 3 stars is actually exceeding expectations which is always nice, but this place is definitely around the 4 star mark for wedding food, which is basically unheard of. The sea bass is amazingly juicy and the mashed potatoes are nice and buttery, the bread in the bread basket that comes out is actually warm! The service staff ran like a smooth operation for the most part.

the wedding i attended was around 200, some of the seats had trouble seeing the head table area, but if your party is around 100-150, its probably this most ideal venue in the bay area (apart from the fact that is HECKA far away, but the drive was so worth it once you get there!)

the ceilings are SUPER HIGH, the double staircase is enormous, and there's a huge dome and chandelier that are hanging from the top, nice sizable dance floor, and tons of large windows all around for a lot of natural light. This place really opens everyone's eyes upon entering. One thing to keep in mind is the sound. This wedding did have a few speakers (like maybe 3?) but when the MC's started to speak, the people at the far sides could barely make out what they were saying since the room was basically eating up the sound. It was a little rough. once we started dancing, the sound was fine, so it might just be the fact that i was seated far from the range of the speakers. I don't think it was ruby hill that supplied the sound equipment, but i could be wrong...

theres tons of seating outside to enjoy the HAWT weather and the changing colors of the sunset against the sky.

oh yeah... the bathroom? its over the top. i feel like i'm at a vegas hotel bathroom. its HUGE, and clean, but the stalls are kinda dark.

and i do kinda wish they had a way of rolling out the cake to the center of the dance floor to cut it, rather than having everyone who wanted to see it get up and walk to one corner of the room.

I couldn't disagree more with Cathy T. I find it amazingly interesting that she reviews this wedding for her friend, not as an actual bride. It's also funny that this is her one and only review on Yelp. I can't help but wonder if she's giving Ruby Hill poor marks because she didn't get what she wanted.

I attended a wedding recently at Ruby Hill and I have to say it was a fantastic event. It was an evening wedding and the setting was perfect.  The wedding and reception was everything I would have expected for such a classy venue. It was an amazingly choreographed event, flowing smoothly from one moment to the next, yet I never felt the pressure of being on a set time schedule.

The dinner was an outstanding array of wonderfully prepared dishes which were presented splendidly. Everyone at our table was very pleased with their meal and the attentive service they received.

The couple being married made a special effort to introduce me to Berni, the Special Events Coordinator, because they were so thrilled with how everything went and they knew my daughter would be planning a wedding in the future. They heaped praise on Berni for everything she had done to make their wedding a dream come true and I found her to be a very gracious, caring and delightful person. From my perspective, Berni did a fabulous job of coordinating the event. I know that because it was all so seamless and when we saw her, she was on the periphery with a smile on her face.

I can't help but wonder if Cathy T doesn't have sour grapes. It's pretty indicative from her review that she was shopping for a bargain in an upscale setting and was quite angry that Ruby Hill wouldn't slash their prices to meet her budget. Honestly I know we're all watching our money closely these days and we certainly don't want to be ripped off. At the same time, a wedding is a once in a lifetime event and for those that want it to be an extraordinarily memorable occasion, a setting like Ruby Hill, combined with the service, wonderful food and attention to detail is something we will pay a little more for rather than cutting corners. Garth Brooks has a saying "Whatever I do, I hope it's quality, I hope it's something that's class." When it comes to weddings, that's what we all want.

I cant review this place from the bride/groom's perspective.. but i can review this place from the spectator's point of view.

Was here for a reception. I really like the place, very elegant and classy. The houses, as you drive to the golf club, are like mansions. The view and the scenery is nice.

The way they set up the banquet was good. Except i felt bad for the people who were sitting in a secluded room where they can't see the dance floor or whatever that's happening in the front / main room.

For me, personally, not only is the venue has to be in a nice location, but the food has to be good too. I always feel soo bad when the food is bad because you know the bride and groom paid $$$$ for each person. so to find a place that serves good food, it's hard. The food here was surprisingly good. The salad was okay, nothing spectacular. The main course....I've never had such a good sea bass at a wedding reception.  The mashed potato was buttery and smooth. The asparagus was fresh. The filet mignon was thin, but still good. The portion of the dual entrees = small. But that's what you expect from a wedding banquet, american style.

i think Ruby Hill Golf Club is best for smaller weddings. So you can fit everyone in the main room..no need to seat people off to another room.

on my part, i had a good time at the wedding. the service was good too.

so it was 3 stars originally.. but i dont think 3 stars matched w/ what i wrote.. so i guess 4 stars is better. but i guess i'm just in between 3-4stars... cuz i'm not to the point where i'm a fan but the venue is really better than 3 stars.. oh heck.. i'll just round up.

Ruby Hill is a great place to go for brunch. I just had their Easter brunch and was thoroughly impressed by their broad selection of delicacies...everything from dim sum to jumbo shrimp to lobster tail to eggs benedict to sliced ham and roast. Ruby Hill's desserts are amazing and the after-brunch bocce ball with a view of the golf course is very pleasant.

I was a bit disappointed today because they didn't have any mineral water which was surprising given that they have a full bar.

After being contacted by "Debbie L." via message on yelp regarding my review from a little over 4 months ago.. I have to rebut my rating and admit that the wedding may have gone awry for me but it shouldn't reflect badly on the beautiful setting of Ruby Hills. I didn't like that guests walked around and down and up to get to the back area of where the ceremony took place. Looking at the older people and women in heels, they know what I mean. But it's out back, what can you do?

The reception area was nice but I can't get over tables being set up where there were pillars blocking the view of the wedding party. Maybe the area was meant for a smaller wedding. People would have to vacate their table to get up and be able to see a video or see the best man and bridesmaid speak.

Originally I had rated my experience at this particular wedding a 2-star but in regards to the location itself when I had attended, I'll rebut and change that to an A-OK 3-star.

I think it would have been better for a smaller wedding or event.

I also disagree with Cathy T. I was just married at Ruby Hill two weeks ago and I admit there were moments of temporary frustration along the way when I didn't receive an immediate response but then I reminded myself that she has a different wedding to deal with EVERY weekend. And just as I do with my own job (and we all do I'm sure), she has to set her own priorities and I respect that. In the end, I got what I needed. And I must say, when it was my turn there was absolutely no stone unturned, Berni came through 110% and so did all of her staff! I gotta say the woman knows what she's doing!!

Berni was on point with details all the way down to bringing me a glass of water (without even being asked) during my photography session - with a straw ;0)  We didn't have a traditional father-daughter dance but she knew there was a particular song I wanted to dace to with my father. She found out from the dj when he was going to play that song and then came and found me when it was time. AND I'm not the only one she paid VIP attention to, my mom and mother-in law were also catered to and looked after. I could go on and on about all of the little details she looked after (and most of them she did w/o any of us knowing) so my family and I could enjoy ourselves.

Regarding the venue....there is nothing like it! My mom and I must have visited 30 places from SF to Gilroy and looked online at about 60 total! Each place was "eh" ok, liked it but didn't love it. The moment we walked in the door at Ruby Hill we both just KNEW this was the place! It is gorgeous!

I had my wedding here this past weekend and I had the best wedding experience ever... I wouldn't have changed anything and have to commend Berni and the staff at Ruby Hill for the amazing experience me and my guests had.  I've gotten emails and calls on how everyone enjoyed the day and how beautiful everything was.  It also helped that the weather was mid 80's!!!   Everything was over-the-top and I am just that happy!!!!  From the appetizers to the dinners - filet mignon and seabass.. thanks Chef for the food that my guests raved about and for Alex, our amazing bartender... he rocks.  Everyone knew his name by the end of the night.  Not only was the staff very very attentive, they made sure that my husband and I were hydrated and fed and that we had what we needed.  The venue was sooo surreal and I am so lucky to have had a wonderful wedding at such a beautiful place and had a great person to work with, Berni... I'm on my way to my honeymoon so sorry if this was a quick review!  ; )

My husband and I recently got married at the golf club at Ruby Hills on October 4th, and I have to say it was perfect. It really could not have gotten any better. Berni, the coordinator at Ruby Hills is amazing. She is as sweet and as organized as they come. She couldn't have done a more amazing job, and with her, you're not just a customer, you're "one of her brides" and she becomes more of a friend throughout the whole wedding process. She's amazing!

I also have to say you should definitely take a look at the preferred vendor list that she gives you as well, because we used all of the vendors from her "A Team" and I can't tell you how good of an idea that was. They were all amazing. The wedding went completely smooth. Most brides always say that the day was wonderful except that one thing that didn't go quite right. I have to say I didn't have a single thing not go quite right. It was perfect! The only thing I wished was that it was longer! 6 hours is just not enough time! Haha! =).

Alright, that's probably enough, but I highly recommend having your wedding at Ruby Hills. For me, they really could not have done a more beautiful job and it just lights up at night. It's absolutely gorgeous!

P.S. Charissa, the other wedding coordinator there is also quite good as well if you end up working with her. =)

Ben R's review is precisely why Yelp is getting all the bad press.  I am familiar with Ruby Hill Golf Club...everyone knows Club generally means "members only".  Their website clearly indicates it is a private club....surely you were savvy enough to check their website.  There is a link to it on their Yelp profile.

Due to your poor planning a fine establishment received a 1 star review...please explain the logic in that.  Nevermind.  To combat your single star rating I am giving it a 5 star for several amazing personal past experiences there.  Do Yelp, fellow yelpers, and local businesses a favor...be fair.

I think thanks to this place, my cousin got the beautiful reception she deserved.

No one in our family is a member of the golf club that I know of, yet the service was still very courteous from what I saw of it. The location is gorgeous, and provides fantastic views on a clear sunny day. The upper level is elegant with perfect backdrops (furniture, fireplace, etc.) for photography. The staircase leading down to the open reception area gave the perfect setting for the wedding party and bride and groom's grand entrance.

The service at the reception was a bit more lacking, although that may be expected given the large number of guests. Although the entrees were pre-plated (no ordering) it still took a long time for the last of the guests to get served. And during the cake, it took at least three rounds by the waiter (holding the coffee carafe) before he noticed that we were flagging him down for coffee. And we were the head table!

The food provided was good, but didn't meet everyone's tastes. I don't like my beef too rare, and that's what the steak was. I think for a prepared meal, medium would be the default to keep most people happy. The fish was prepared well with the pesto and tomato cream sauce.

All in all, they are definitely a location prepared for weddings. Which, in turn, makes it all go smoothly and really, isn't that what's most important?

My husband and I got married here almost 3 months ago.  Originally, we found this place online and visited it over a year before the wedding.  We totally fell in love with this place and we totally envisioned our wedding here that we booked the next available Saturday for the fall of 2008.  (We visited in July 2007 and there was only 1 Saturday left for August 2008 and September 2008).  It seems to get booked up really fast so you'll have to decide pretty quickly if you want a certain time.  Little did we realize how much it would cost.  Although this venue was expensive, we are definitely happy that we had our wedding here.  We've gotten raves from all our guests about the beautiful view, excellent food/service, and the stunning reception area that it made it worthwhile.    Berni, the coordinator was nice to work with, but she can be difficult to get a hold of.  I've had to make numerous phone calls and emails to get various questions answered.  She's very laid back so there were times when I wasn't sure if things would be done the way we wanted, but everything turned out just fine.

A couple things to note:
1.  They charge a $3.50 cake cutting fee if you decide not to use 1 of the 2 preferred cake vendors.  Neither of the preferred cake vendors was to our taste so this was the biggest rip-off.
2.  If you want things done your way in terms of setting up the escort cards and favors, it's better to have a friend or family to help out instead of asking RH to do it.

I came here last night for my friend's wedding and this place is AMAZING! Absolutely the most gorgeous wedding I've been to. The ceramony was outdoor over a beautiful lake and golf course. The reception was in this "clubhouse," but it was more like a mansion. The inside had a grand staircase that lead to the dance floor and guest dinner tables. The atmosphere was so elegant and classy.

Besides the beautiful decor and ambiance, I was really impressed with the food! I never expect much when it comes to wedding dinners, but I actually ate every last bite of my meal. We started with a simple mixed green salad with slice apples, pecans, and aged balasamic vineagar. The dressing was very good. For my entree I had the seared pesto sea bass with sun dried tomato cream sauce. Oh my goodness, my fish was SO heavenly. The fish was so soft it melted in my mouth. The cream sauce was so dangerously delicious and tasty. Although it was a cream sauce, it didn't taste too heavy. It also came with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. I had a bite of my friend's steak and that was really good too. It was moist and still rare.. At most weddings, the steaks are usually so dry and tough by the time it comes out.

The service here was excellent! The staff was so attentive. I highly recommend this place for any wedding..

Perfect venue for a very upscale, classy wedding. My friend got married inside on a Saturday night and every detail was perfect. We sat upstairs under the dome ceiling for the ceremony and headed down the grand staircase for dinner and dancing. Food was good, cocktails were great and the bar was open, so everyone was happy. Unfortunately, it was pouring that night so we didn't get to explore the grounds, but I would love to come back during the day to see what else we missed.

i couldn't agree more with you denise. this place was just spectacular. i never knew that this place existed. i mean just by the looks of the homes around the course, your jaw drops and it never comes back up until you leave the location.

this place was just really impressive in all sense. well to me since i don't see this often. And on top of all of that, Vicki and Vince's wedding was organized and design wonderfully. i thought since there were a few people on board that haven't communicated no how it was going to really come together, it went extremely well.

again sooooo beautiful. so now i wish that for my wedding, i would need to find a better place and to be able to afford something in Ruby Hill's level.
