Glommed onto the top/front of Daniel's Broiler (Leschi Edition), I missed this place on drive-by and bike-by meanders.  Thanks again to Yelp for the clue.  Ruby:  get a bigger sign or something.

The good:
- cheap(er) lunch specials
- good light, a bit of view from the window
- prompt service:  under 3 minutes.
- pretty dang tasty

The bad:
- 4 stars spicy was bland.  C'mon, this cracker can take it.

Although the people who answer the phones for take out orders a more than gruff and impersonal, the food is excellent. My co-workers and I order from this restaurant at least once a week and are never disappointed.

I have been eating at this Thai place for a number of years now, and do so because I work in the Leschi area. If you know Leschi at all then you will understand that there are very few cafe choices here. The current owners have been in power for a couple of years and mostly do an awesome job, though lately I have noticed some changes.

Yes, I know people are always spouting that change is good. Hey, I am all for change if I am the one initiating it, but it has to be my decision. I have tried a few Thai places over the years and Ruby's Green Chicken curry would have to be a 5 on a scale of 1-5...until recently. Lately, I have noticed that the quality of the meals have been inconsistent. One day the Green Curry will be an absolutely delicious 5 stars, and then the next day it will be mediocre at best, with the beans being soggy - I can't figure out if they are old or just overcooked - it will be too spicy or not spicy enough, and the curry base will even taste wrong. I really can't figure it out, but when I asked about the Chef I was told it is the same person everyday. Go figure. Maybe the Chef is having problems with the green curry recipe - maybe he lost it - as the chicken broccoli is always excellent.

Now before you get sick of hearing from the complaint department (moi) I must add that the service has been fantastic. I walk in and they usually tell me my order, and my meal is at the table within 5 mins. Now that is good when you only have an hour for lunch. Johnson and Elvis are fabulous waiters, and will go out of their way to see that you are happy.

Ok, so it's me again and I just can't stay silent. Well, actually after dining in other Thai restaurants around Seattle - that I will be commenting on any day now - I realized that I needed to add to my previous comment. Since my comments in September 2006 I have to assume that Ruby's have either seen my comments on Yelp or they have had some kind of spiritual awakening as my favorite dish of green chicken curry just keeps getting better. Of course, it comes complete with all fresh produce, including the extra bamboo shoots that I request (as I am a bamboo junkie) and the service is even more attentive than it was last September. Your saying no way, but I must say yes way. Oh, and as we speak (or write) a bar is being added that will just add to my already fabulous experience.
