We had a very positive experience. We were surprised at the selection and prices for such a small storefront. There seemed to be a mix of grades of furniture, and prices generally seemed quite good.

We purchased a chair and scheduled delivery for two days later. They arrived on time, unpacked the wrapping and took it with them. The chair arrived in excellent condition.

Someone else said it best:

The truth about Roy's is that the "Customer is nothing once the Store has your money."

Good selection and prices, but the most miserable delivery experience where we had to call time and time and time again to get information on our incredibly late sofa.

While I don't fault Roy's for the delay, they ARE responsible for customer service (i.e. not charging customers for delivery when shipments are so late.)  But, no Roy's takes absolutely no accountability.

They truly could care less about you after you've made the initial purchase.

We will NEVER shop here again.

This place SUCKS!!!! The furniture is fine, if you don't feel like paying an arm and a leg for Crate and Barrel furniture. Hey, I don't blame you. I didn't have any problems a year and a half ago when I bought my couch here.  It came on time and was what I ordered.

My boyfriend, on the other hand, has had a different experience.  He ordered a leather sofa and matching chair from here about 10 weeks ago. Fast forward to today, 10 weeks later, the maximum amount of time he was quoted that it would take to make and ship his furniture, he still doesn't have it. To top it off, he's nowhere closer to getting it than when he walked into the place.

After dozens of calls to get an update on his order and no answer back other than "we'll have Tom call you back",  he finally goes in and talks to someone.  They have no record of his calling. The clerk says that it's on a different system. Yeah, bullshit. They then tell him that the shipment is coming in this week, and he should get a call scheduling delivery by Tuesday (today). That was this past Saturday.

Today he got his first return phone call from them, and lo and behold: a typhoon has hit their manufacturing plant in China. So, not only do they not have the furniture ready, but he's not getting his furniture until late November at the earliest. And of course, on the order form he signed, there's a clause that lets Roy's opt out of any responsibility in an event such as this. WOW.

Here's what's wrong with this situation:

They didn't offer any compensation for the fact that it's taking them over 20 weeks to do what they said would be done in 8 - 10. It's football season guys! He wanted a sofa and chair for the games.

The typhoon that supposedly ruined their suppliers manufacturing plant in China, that happened in early August. It's the end of September. There's no logical explanation of why it would take the two companies, who work so closely together, so long to communicate. Especially something so monumental as an entire inventory being wiped out.

It's more than enough to keep me far far away from Roy's in the future, and to tell everyone I know to run screaming.

Check out the reviews on city search. It sounds so familiar.

Sooo I needed a couch.  Starting the 1br life comes along with a lot of purchases and a sofa was high on the list.

I was really surprised at how affordable all the furniture was compared to the other stores I went to.  The majority of them were quite comfy too.  I don't know about y'all, but I was having a hard time justifying a pricey sofa that didn't hold me like a baby.  I found what I wanted here.  Since so many were comfy, the other main decision was on style, and they had more than enough sofas for me to make a decision.

I was in and out within an hour, had a sofa they had in stock and was told I could get it to my apartment within 3 days.  Today is delivery day and I can't wait to get it in here.

I don't feel like they were pushy at all, just being salespeople.  It's all part of the game and people as customers need to play it just as well back.  Game on, bitches, and hopefully you're gonna have a great living room by the time you're done.

Don't get me wrong - the selection and prices here are the best, the service is super nice, too.  But the delivery is awful - weeks!!  If this were the norm, I'd be fine with that.  But, after coming here and seeing what I wanted, I trotted over to Affordable Portables and got the same thing at the same price in 2 days!

Even though we didn't buy anything here (we're looking for more modern/contemporary furniture) the sales associates were extremely friendly and helpful.  We immediately were greeted - normally this turns me off b/c I feel like they're just trying to get a commission, but it was different at Roy's.  They seemed genuinely concerned that I found what I was looking for and offered suggestions.  Thanks!

If you are in search of a good deal, Roy's is the place to be! After recently moving, I am in search of more furniture. They have a great selection, the sales folks allow you to browse without being overbearing and the price is great.

I am still taking time to find exactly what I'm looking for but thought that their selection was really great!

First, TOM (delivery manager OR Pit Bull???), he is an out right JERK. We have been reading about THIS guy on other websites but until you cross his path, you really are awaken to what it is to be empowered. What an ego / attitude! If Roy's hired him to hold off people THEN best choice ever!

Tom left us on hold for more than what was reasonable and he could not give us a definite delivery date. 6 to 8 weeks, unlikely.

Also, the delivery FEE, all over the place based on who you speak with. One person, "percentage of what you paid/purchased", another "based on number of delivery's".Negotiate delivery otherwise you have to go to China Town. Really?

Okay furniture BUT STAFF AT ROY'S SUCK!! Do not work with THOMAS AT ROY'S EITHER (sales guy). Sales guy that sells you and leaves you without answers once you pay the bill. YOU GUYS SUCK!!!! ROY SUCKS!!! Pay extra where you get quality with service not just furniture, cheap!

I kept wanting to review Roy's but withheld myself until the delivery was final and the product was well tested!  I never thought buying a new sofa would be so easy!  We went in one day expecting to just breeze through the place and instead found ALL of our future 'adult' furniture!  When you get into a relationship, sometimes your stuff doesn't always match!  So we found it, we came back after a couple of weeks thinking on it.  And then we decided to go for it.

Usually people don't keep sofas in stock - you have to order them.  And then a sleeper sofa on top of that?  Well...that's a special order!  But they had it.  The exact one!  After looking forever it's right there in the building?  Amazing.

Delivery - I called to set it up and they had time available on a Saturday (keep in mind this was Friday - so the NEXT day!).  Unbelievable!  And unheard of in my book!  So we set it up for the 3-7 block and they were there around 4.  Professional.  Oh so quick and nice.  No complaints there!   We can't wait to get back to Roy's to start purchasing everything else we're thinking of.

My only complaint is that it is damn near impossible to find someone to help you on the second floor.  Most of the employees hang out at the front door.  But being one that doesn't like a pushy salesperson, this is fine until I actually *need* someone.  Then it's a bit annoying and I want one of those push button things like in Target where you push it, and magically someone appears!  We'll see you soon Roy's!  The holiday's are coming up and a new dining room is in order!

Roy. Is. Dead to me.

Originally, my boyfriend and I were totally excited about shopping here. Prices were pretty reasonable, the stuff was good quality and our sales guy was extremely helpful (and is in no way the reason for 1 star-- Xopher, please don't take this review personally).

My beef with them is regarding delivery. We were told 4-6 weeks for delivery (for a couch that was already in stock in the warehouse, mind you) and that was fine. As Halloween approached (and 6 weeks had passed) we kept calling to check in. We were promised that it would arrive on November 1st in the afternoon.

We tried to get ahold of the staff for a week before we finally talked to them on October 31st. I was livid when they told me that we weren't on the "delivery list" for the 1st, so they wouldn't be able to deliver for another week or so. Whatever this mysterious "delivery list" was, I have no idea-- I'd think that, given the fact that we were promised a certain date, that would necessitate presence on said list... but I digress.

Long story short- we had a frenzied morning on the 1st trying to find a third party to deliver the couch and they came through. People had places to sit at the party, but no one can ever say the name "Roy" around me again.

My couch has been breaking for the last year and a half (stupid IKEA) and I've been putting off buying a new couch for awhile now. One day about 2 months ago, I sat on it, and it totally broke and I finally realized it was time for Roy's. I had been to Roy's with one of my friends when she was picking out her couch, so I hoped I'd fall in love with a couch there too. We were greeted and helped right away. I wanted a couch with a chaise and I narrowed it down to 2 options. The person helping us was really impatient, he made multiple comments about how long I was taking to make a decision (I'm spending $1600 I'll take all the time I need thank-you-very-much). I didn't expect him to babysit me the whole time, go, help other customers and come back to me periodically, don't just stand there making rude comments. So I finally decided on a couch and picked my fabric (tons of fabric options!) and it was time to check out. The boy and I decided to finance the couch, so we did that paperwork and got it all sorted out. We were quoted a delivery time of 6-8 weeks, and the couch arrived in about 7 weeks. The day before the couch was supposed to be delivered, there was a debit for the rest of the couch (we put about 1/4 down when we bought it).  Ummm...we financed, should be no debit from the checking account, causing an overdraft and fees from the bank...which equals fun times on the phone trying to get that sorted out. The person who we spoke to from Roy's was less than helpful and after an hour of arguing finally admitted to making a mistake. Super annoying!
I was given a delivery window for 3-7 and the couch was delivered at 4. The delivery guys were very nice and efficient and I absolutely adore my new couch, but the hassle with the payment and the disrespect shown by the salesman has totally scared me off from patronizing Roy's again.

So right before moving I noticed one of my dining room chairs had a huge crack in the seat! And I can't even blame this on my fat ass because it was the chair that rarely gets used...perhaps even never used since buying this dining room table and chairs from Roy's a year ago.  As you can see by my 1100+ reviews it's not often we eat at home...

I feared I'd be living with a cracked chair or have to buy a new chair when I called Roy's about the problem. I spoke to Tom in customer service and he suggested I send him a picture of the cracked chair so he could send it to the factory the chair came from. I did as I was told and a few weeks later got a call from Tom that the new seat for my chair was ready to be picked up. Easy as pie...

I took a spin around Roy's today while picking up my chair seat and have to admit I've outgrown this place.  These days I'd rather spend a little more money to buy quality furniture that will last at least as long as we stay in our condo (no cracks after just a year).  But if you're looking for some affordable, nice looking furniture to get you through a few years look no further than Roy's!

I am sitting on my beautiful leather couch and have my feet propped up on my unique circular coffee table. I love them both.

The delivery of the couch was a bit iffy as they claim they called before they showed up (they had not) and they showed up at 3:50 (delivery time 12-4). The delivery of the table was no problem, they arrived at the beginning of the delivery time and assembled the table for me.

I made my selections based on what was in stock. I am an impulse shopper and waiting 6 weeks for a couch would not work for me. Found the salespeople helpful and easy to work with.

Given my price constraints and selective taste,  my furniture hunt was lengthy and frustrating....until I stopped into Roy's.

I live in the neighborhood, and walk by the store just about every day on the way to the train.  When I finally stopped in, I wished I had began my search here.  The staff was extremely helpful in showing me options in my price range and the hundreds of fabrics I could select for the sofa and pillows.

I ended up purchasing a leather recliner (for a ridiculously reasonable price) as well as a sofa and matching ottoman.  I spent less than what I anticipated and got something nicer than i expected that I could afford.  I can't believe how reasonable their prices are! And being able to practically design it yourself by picking your fabric, you can't beat Roy's.

As I was informed, the wait was 4-6 weeks for my pieces to be completed and delivered, but given the price, appearance, and quality, it's well worth the wait.

My bf and I have ordered several items from Roy's, as we just moved into a new apartment together and needed to furnish almost the entire apartment. We live near Roys and have visited their store about 4 or 5 times in the past two months. We found the sales associates to be helpful upon arrival into the store. And, the quotes that we have been promised for delivery of our furniture has been accurate until this last item. I decided to order an area rug and was initially quoted 1-2 weeks. When we returned the following day to purchase the rug, I was told it would take 4-6 weeks, but if the item was in the warehouse, it would likely be in around 2 weeks. Well, I called again this morning to check the status on this order, and the rug is now scheduled to arrive 8 weeks from my order date. I received no apology for the inconvenience, but was told I could come in and choose another rug to see if I could get it faster. Because we have generally had positive experiences and our happy with our furniture for the price, Roy's only loses one star.

This place rocks!   They have a HUGE selection and their prices are very reasonable.  My boyfriend and I pretty much scoured all of Chicago and the suburbs looking for the right couch, and this place had exactly what we were looking for at the right price.  The quality is good and custom.  We were told that we would get our couch in 6-8 weeks, but we actually got ours in 4.5!

I definitely recommend Roy's!

I love this place. When I bought my condo I needed some furniture (namely a couch, loveseat or chair, and dining room table), but didn't want to spend an arm and a leg. I had heard about Roy's from a number of people, but for some dumb reason I didn't go there first.

I went all over including Crate and Barrel Outlet and the Carson's Furniture Outlet all the way out in Naperville and found some things I liked, but didn't love. My biggest frustration was finding the style I wanted with the fabric I wanted.

Finally, I came to my senses and went to Roy's and boy was I glad. I dragged my mom with me so I wouldn't have to hear her complain about the hideous sofa I bought (which she did with my last one for 5 (five!!) years). We found a sofa identical to the one I saw at Carsons Outlet, but cheaper! And I got to choose my own fabric, how could I go wrong. Unlike most places you don't get to choose from 2-3 different fabrics (or a fabric that resembles one of Bill Cosby's sweaters), but hundreds of them. I ended up getting my couch and chair , (which everyone thinks is from Crate and Barrel) and dining room set from Roy's and paid $1700 including tax and delivery. I've had my stuff for over 2 years now and it still looks great.

The last time I bought furniture it was a nightmarish experience, but things couldn't have gone more smoothly with Roy's.

TIP #1: I saw a sectional that I really liked, but was too big for my place, my mom asked if we could get other pieces and we could. Don't get hung up on getting exactly what you see, ask and you may be able to get different variations. Roy's isn't a huge space, but they make the most out of what they've got.

TIP #2: Make sure you tell them what floor you live on, elevator access, etc. because it could affect delivery (in other words they might not haul your sofa up 4 flights of stairs).

TIP #3: Don't expect to go in an come home with a sofa that day, it will take 8 weeks.

I was finally ready to take the plunge...my first real adult purchase (aside from my lovely bed) and I was in the market for a small couch/big love seat...

Upon a trusted friend's recommendation, I made Roy's one of my first stops.  The location is nicely tucked outta the way on a quiet spot of Sheffield (yes, it does exist!), with a parking lot on the side for convenience (and a quick walk from the Fullerton el station).

Roy's is the mother-lode of all things furniture.  They have all sorts of items on display along with swatches on the furniture.  The thing is, it's all custom-made in Mississippi: you pick the design, the swatches, and they order it special for you!  Gotta love that concept, even if it does involve a bit of a wait.

After a few other stops, I found myself back at Roy's.  The service is friendly (we were served by a gentleman named Jerry), and I did not feel pressured in any way.

Be aware that the prices are not negotiable (ever being the shrewd customer, I tried)...Jerry told us that because they do not advertise, they keep their prices low, and pass along that savings to the customer (there's not the usual mark-up there may be at other stores).

I found a small couch and matching chair within my budget, and ordered away.  They projected four to eight weeks for delivery time, but I had my furniture delivered in less than four weeks.  The delivery men ended up coming earlier than the projected delivery time, but they did give me the courtesy of a phone call to make sure that was acceptable to me.

I think I lucked out with the quick delivery, but the prices are reasonable, especially given that you're getting custom-made furniture, and they have a great selection.

I highly recommend this place if you're in the market for new furniture and are on a budget.

Simple, no nonsense.  We verified the fact that some of the furniture brands they sell are also exactly the same that are sold at Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel, but at half the cost.  Who can beat that?

We're looking for dining furniture and this will be the first place we go!

I highly reccomend trying Roy's furniture. When I reached the point where I didn't want Salvation Army or IKEA furniture in my home but couldn't necessarily afford Room and Board or Potterybarn (plus had a hard time justifing spending that much on furniture) I found some great stuff at Roy's. They are located near DePaul in Lincoln Park. You can choose your upholstry for the furniture as well. The only downside is the delivery time. From what I remember we received our furniture somewhere in the middle of the timeframe. I bought both a moss colored micro-suede couch and brown leather /espresso wood dining room chairs at a fraction of the cost elsewhere. (Has anyone looked into the cost of dining room chairs? It's ridiculous) I will definitley always stop by their showroom when I shop for furniture just to see what they have to offer.

Well, it was time for a big girl couch.

So I trekked my big girl self to Roy's. And wow. It's like the TJMaxx of custom furniture. After perusing $10,000 sectional couches at Walter E. Smithe...I scored EXACTLY what I wanted from Roy's for about $1500. One of my good friends bought one on sale for $900! A sectional couch that seats about 6 people! Awesome!

Now dont' get me wrong. Good things take time. It takes 8 weeks. Do not think it will be less. It will be about exactly 8 weeks. So I suggest you have something to sit yourself on during the interim.

Customer service is about standard for peopel working on commission. Make sure you get what you pay for! (Mine was supposed to come with a sleeper, but didn't...so I got some money back).

Their policy is: 50% down when you place the order and the remaining 50% to get it delivered. This seems fair to me. And it gives you 2 months to come up with the cash usually :)

All custom furniture is FINAL SALE. So remember that and choose wisely.

Also upstairs, they have a clearance section.

Seriously, this place is very well priced, the quality is great! (I've had my stellar sectional for a year and it looks very good despite being used as a canine lounge and kitty scratching pad.) It's held up very well. Its comfy, and even without the sleeper...sleeps 2 end to end very comfortably with no touching :)

Try it out, or go in for a look. They have a small parking lot, otherwise parking can be tough. Very close to Fullerton Brown/Purple/Red.

I really like Roy's.  I've bought a couple of rooms worth of furniture from this place ... great value.

Tips for Roy's:
One thing to note is Roy's can order a lot more furniture than they have in their show room.  They can order many of the lines that are carried by Dania, Broadway Furniture and Domicile Furniture, three stores with a more upscale image. Roys prices are usually 25%-33% less than these other three stores for the exact same furniture.

Personally, I like contemporary styles with dark woods and chrome/silver accents.  I haven't always seen this on display at their showroom, but have found this in their catalogs.

My best experience with Roy's involved a funky console table I originally saw at Stitch (a boutique store on Damen in Bucktown).  I liked it so much I considered buying it for Stitch's $625 price.  The next weekend I found myself at Domicile furniture, they didn't have the console table, but they had an end table that was clearly of the line.  I inquired and found Domicile could order the console for $350.  I figured I'd be back to order it there, but made one stop into Roy's.  Roy's did carry the line and was able to order the table for $225! This was almost 2/3 less than Stitch's price for the exact table.

If you're ever at Domicile or Dania and see something you like, definitely note the line of the furniture and see if Roys carries it.  They have about a dozen binders behind the main desk full of collections they can order, but might not have in the showroom itself.

The one downside is most things that are ordered take 5-10 weeks to deliver.  So they get four stars instead of five.

Roy's has a beautiful and vast collection of everything needed to furnish your space properly, without necessarily busting your wallet. I could (and have) spent an entire day looking around in their warehouse / showroom at all of their displays. They offer many different tastes of furniture, from vintage and "classic" looking pieces to very modern metals and clean lines. I love it all! They have many decorative pieces as well, from rugs and pillows to candles and shelf decorations. It is HIGHLY recommended to not go during the weekend, as obviously, this is their busiest time of week, and they seem to never quite be properly staffed. I recommend going Monday - Thursday only.

I walked in here set on buying a new futon for my apartment.  The prices were not as cheap as I had imagined but fair for good quality furniture.   They only had two choices of the same brand of futon but I wasn't too upset about that although I do wish they would have had more choices with different price ranges.  The saleswoman ended up giving me $40 off since I was obviously over my budget already.

The saleswoman was very nice and polite but didn't really give much information about the quality of the futon itself.  She was very eager to help me out and was easy to work with and didn't make me feel uncomfortable.

Luckily the futon was in stock so I didn't have to wait an extrodinary amount of time like other reviewers have.  I had my futon delivered on a Saturday.  The delivery guys were 30 minutes late but they ran into some traffic problems.  The guys were nice and had my futon up in no time at all.

I'd like to warn you though when you buy from Roy's you do sign a contract saying that all sales are final there are no refunds, exchanges etc.  You have to inspect everything upon delivery to make sure there isn't any damage.  Also make sure to measure doors and hallways beforehand because they won't take it back if it doesn't fit.

Other than that my experience with Roy's was satisfactory.

My couch arrived precisely in the middle of their time frame (3-7 pm), and the entire process went rather smoothly. There was an issue with a piece inside the upholstery that was out of place, but the delivery guys were able to fix it on the spot. They were done in 20 minutes or so and took all the plastic wrapping with them. I made sure to do a quick inspection before they left and before I signed the final papers to make sure no giant defect was there. It's been about two weeks, and I'm still enjoying my couch!

Ok, so I have visited Roy's twice in the past week.  I know, I'm one of those people that contemplates purchase decisions longer than Roy's takes to deliver the stuff (haha)....But anyway, I NEED a loveseat for my apartment, and I found the selection, quality, options, and prices at Roy's to be just right.  I'm hoping it comes sooner than 6-8 weeks, and I'll update to let you know.

Other than that, the guy I worked with both times was super nice and knowledgeable.  He seemed in a hurry but was helpful with selecting fabrics and informing me about pricing options, etc.  I didn't see any dining furniture, desks, or coffee tables that suited my liking, but at least I'll have somewhere to sit now :)

I was looking all over Chicagoland for a sofa and could not find the style I wanted for under $3000. I may have been able to find something online but I really need to be able to touch/feel/sit in it before purchasing.
Enter: Roy's!
The staff was very helpful and friendly, knew exactly where to send me in the (huge) store to pick fabrics and I managed to find a sofa, select fabrics, purchase said sofa, and arrange delivery in under 45 minutes. That has to be a furniture buying record or I just really needed to get a sofa!
I will update the review about the delivery and actual piece when (in about about 6 weeks) my new sofa arrives.

I got a rug, dresser, and nightstand from Roy's.  (10x12: $250, 7 drawers: $400, 2 drawers: $199.)  The furniture is nice, the prices are great compared to any other furniture store you go to (that isn't a complete dump).

So why only 3 stars?  When I got the things, they said "we tell people 6-8 weeks to get it in but usually it takes less than that."  YEAH RIGHT.  I waited forever.  And at 8 weeks I called and I talked to a manager, who said,  "Oh, it will be in Friday."  Friday came and went, I called again, they said the next day, and so on, until it finally came in.  More than 10 weeks after I placed the order.  But at least everyone was really polite when I talked to them, even if they were lying to me.

Anyway, I think their delivery person scratched the corner of my dresser when they moved it into my apartment, but I didn't complain because I know they would just take it right back and I would wait forever again for my dresser...I was tired of my clothes living in plastic bags on my floor.

Finally, one corner of the dresser drawer sticks out about 3/8ths of an inch, but only OCD freaks like me notice it.

Word to the wise: delivery is 60$ in Chicago, and it's worth it because the furniture is about 3x as heavy as it looks.  Also, there's absolutely no returns unless the product is defective, so remember that when you buy a purple sofa and neon green chair.

Best service of any furniture store I've visited--unobtrusive staff who will kneel down on the floor next to you to comb through fabric samples.

Good selection, guaranteed, make-it-fit delivery, and decent prices--the same items at Domicile were anywhere from $100-300 less at Roy's!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Roy's. I was able to find the perfect couch to fit into my tiny apartment, and as a bonus it also fit into my pathetic grad school budget. The salesperson I worked with was extremely helpful, without being pushy. Luckily, the couch I wanted was actually in stock there so I didn't experience the long wait others have described. In fact, my couch was in my living room exactly one week after I purchased it.

The delivery guys were also wonderful and they went above and beyond the call of duty to get this thing into my place. On the day they delivered my couch, it just so happened that my building's elevator was broken. The normal stairwell was too narrow for the couch, so these guys actually brought it up through the fire escape. I was absolutely blown away by how determined they were to get my couch into my apartment. And they didn't even complain!

All in all, it was an awesome experience and I highly recommend at least going into the store and checking out what they have to offer.

Roy's makes me blissful.  Cause I am very into interior design, but my salary doesn't really provide me with the means to indulge in high-end stuff.

They don't keep a warehouse, which is the reason they can keep the prices so low.  Everything is shipped direct from the manufacturer, which is why it takes 6-8 weeks.  It's also why you have as many fabric options as you would have at much more expensive stores like Ethan Allen or Fields.

Once I picked out my couch, I spent about three hours choosing the upholstery fabric with a very kind salesperson (thanks, Ed for holding the fabrics up so I could see them from a distance. Because apparently that's important in my  500sq ft apartment).

They have about 20 different grades of fabric, which can make your final price vary quite a bit.  I got a couch with nice contemporary clean lines that was base priced at $399.  I went with a mid range fabric that cost an extra $50.  With tax and delivery, I still ended up paying less than $600 for a couch that looks like it could be from Crate & Barrel or Room & Board, but is about as custom and "me" as it gets.

They used to have a rule that you had to be super-sure that the couch would fit through your doorway, or they would not take it back, but my friend recently got a couch there and she said they now have a service that they'll cut it to make it fit.

The best thing about Roy's is the second floor and large clearance room.   You could easily spend your morning digging through all of the sale priced dressers, couches and pillows.

I needed a headboard, and found a beautiful hand-painted vintage screen for 90 bucks on clearance.   Easy sale, and now my bed is beautiful.

I also purchased a Tiffany lamp for $40.   Sweet.

If you are shopping for home decor items, go see Roy... he's worth the trip.

Because of the great Yelp reviews, I decided to give this place a try. I was desperate for new living room furniture, and seemed to be striking out at Thomasville (not to mention they are wildly expensive).

The first visit to this store was a few weeks before Thanksgiving. We came in less than a half hour before closing, and the staff were really welcoming; Jerry in particular was really helpful.

We came in again the week after Thanksgiving, and Jerry remembered us right away, despite our quick visit a few weeks before. Again, he was really helpful, not pushy in the least, and brought just about every fabric swatch in the store for us to look at. I ended up getting a couch, ottoman and chair, all for less than $800.

I was told it would be 6-8 weeks for delivery, so I was pleasantly surprised when I got a call 2 1/2 - 3 weeks later that my stuff was ready. They delivered the day after Christmas, and the guys were quick and on time. The only problem was that they brought up the wrong couch, so we had to wait until later in the afternoon for them to make it back to us.

This place was great!  I never realized how big it was! I had never gone in because I assumed that with it's location and seemingly small size, it was more boutique-y than anything else.  I was incredibly wrong.
The selection was awesome, although most things do need to be ordered (be prepared to wait 6-8 weeks sometimes), but they do have a good selection of in-stock items.
Highly recommend!  The prices are pretty low considering the hig(er)  quality of the items.  Definately a great buy in the city!

Roy's is responsible for providing me with my first fabulous "grown up" piece of furniture:  a chocolaty-brown, velveteen-finished, stuffed-but-not-overly-so couch.  I'm so impressed by their selection and attention to quality and detail.

Their wood products are pricey, but that's because they're really solid wood ... no "tab A into slot B" B.S. like Ikea.  If you're willing to spend a little on quality timeless pieces, then start by looking here.  Oh, and their delivery guys are fab!  The couch had to be brought through the alley, up the back steps, and in the tiny little porthole for a back door to my apartment; they had it in and unpacked in less than ten minutes.  Bravo!

I've been furniture hunting for about a month now, and nobody had anything I liked. I kept saying, "I wish someone should make a furniture store called Stuff Andrea Likes." Roys should be renamed to Stuff Andrea Likes.

And the sales people weren't pushy!

I understand that Roy's is beloved by a lot of people - and my own sister has used them with wonderful results.  I, however, was left in tears and will NEVER use them.  I went in right around Valentine's Day to buy a couch and loveseat for an apartment we were moving into on May 1st.  I figured that I should shop early and I had the space to store the furniture before the move in case I found something that I had to buy right away.  We found a great set at a great price and were told it would take between 6-8 weeks.  I told them any time was fine - it would just be a different address if it was after May 1st.

I got a call telling me my furniture was in 4 weeks later and since I worked in the area, I stopped in to arrange for delivery to my current place.  When I got there (this was literally the day after the call), they told me it was a mistake.  I thought nothing of it and went back to work.  When I moved, the furniture still wasn't in - despite it being way past the 8 weeks.  I went in around the 10th to find out when I could stop watching TV on the floor.  Itwas only then that I found out my furniture was in at the 4 week mark and they sold it out from under me figuring they could reorder and get it in before the 8 week date!!!  Then the stuff went on backorder!  When I complained that they sold MY STUFF - stuff I had paid in full for, by the way, they told me basically they couldn't do anything about it and when I tried to get them to waive the delivery charge or take a small discount off, they simply refunded my money and threw me out!!!  So much for customer service.  I didn't think that the small amount I asked for (under $100) was too much to expect when they took money for something and then took more money for the same thing from someone else - that's fraud!

Thankfully Darvin got us an even nicer set, for the same amount, and delivered it 3 days later.  Screw you and your shady practices Roy!

I've shopped at Roy's numerous times over the years and have always been pleased with the value for the dollar.   This isn't "high end" furniture, but definitely stylish and good quality for the money spent.  (Better quality than Harlem and Value City.  Pretty much in-line with Wickes.)

I recently purchased a sectional for my home and am pleased that it arrived in the store in ONLY FOUR WEEKS!  Diane is knowledgeable and friendly, though some of the staff is "under informed" as to product.

I was given a "window" of 3-7PM for delivery.  Although I would've liked a tighter time frame, I can deal with it.  To my surprise, I received a call at 2:30 and was told that they would be at my home in 15 minutes!  The truck arrived at 2:50 and they were out of here by 3:00.  Perfect piece.  Perfect delivery.  Perfect experience!

While Roy's doesnt have the highest quality items (so it seems) they do have a decent selection at a moderate price.  I actually only bought a table and some bar stools there, but there were a bunch of other things that I liked too.

After I bought the table and had it delivered, I knocked one of the chairs over getting up to fast to get the phone, and I guess that I knocked one of the dowels that support the legs out of place or something, because the next time I sat in it the chair literally like, just feel apart...like something youd see on a 50's comedy show.

I called the saleswoman the next day and explained to her what happend, she just told me to bring it in and theyd give me another one..which I did, and everything worked out fine.

The saleswoman's name was diane or diana by the way, she was very friendly and patient.

The other reviews already sum up my thoughts - the salespeople aren't pushy, the furniture is very reasonably priced, and they have a healthy variety of many styles.

We just bought a couch for $600 and absolutely love it.  Not a bad way to start for my first "serious" furniture purchase.
