Nice space, good service, great sandwich.
Went to Roxy's for lunch today and had their Reuben with pastrami. Wow, one of the best sandwich's I've had in a long time. It was just incredibly flavorful. I could have happily eaten two.
It has nice atmosphere, personable servers and the food is top notch.
Loose trousers.
Wear loose trousers preferably with a drawstring if you come here. When I agreed to meet a fellow Yelper + friend (shout-out to the fabulous Miss Amara D!), I had no idea the portions would be that ample!
We went during the week so there was ample parking in their private lot. We all know how parking in the Fremont can be so it was nice to glide into a spot without circling the block a few times. The prices were reasonable and as I said, you get a LOT of food. We began our culinary adventure with a pair of egg creams which are no substitute for a well-made cherry phosphate, but I made do. We continued with one French dip and one Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast. Amara liked her French Dip, or I think she did. We were too busy playing the fun game of "20-questions-getting-to-know-you" during our meal for me to stop and ask. I ate my chicken fried steak although I'd not order it again... and here goes my explanation why. Bear with me, there's a detour involved.
I need to explain a little about my culinary upbringing. On my mother's side, I grew up with the comfort foods of lugaw + tokwa't baboy, pancit + SPAMsilog (do not knock the SPAM), bibingka + fresh turon. On my father's side it was country cooking and I mean the good stuff too... fried okra + homemade biscuits, smothered pork chops + greens, fresh fruit cobblers + Blue Bell ice cream and lest I forget, chicken fried steak.
I was blessed with a pair of wildly diverse grandmothers who cooked everything from scratch and instilled in me a love of the process that goes into cooking for one's family. How simple it was to gather cousins around a table and assemble lumpia for the next day's party or what fun was to drop squares of dough into simmering stock for chicken and dumplings. Admittedly I have high expectations for the comfort foods of my youth but I'm not so entrenched in my ways that I can't appreciate something new added to the mix. The bottom line was there were two things wrong with my CFS: the steak wasn't hammered out flat enough and there was link sausage cut up in the gravy. Link sausage? I'd never had that before.
Did I send it back? No, I ate it. Yes I did, because I hadn't eaten all afternoon and I wasn't going to send back something that I didn't investigate before ordering. I hate it when people do that and I ain't that kind of restaurant patron. There was nothing wrong with it, it just wasn't what I was accustomed to having. It was perfectly serviceable but not something I'd order again. I'm definitely going to return to sample other foods. I'm more interested in trying an E.O.B or more specifically, their matzoh ball soup. Maybe it can compare to my favourite west coast deli (Canter's) or maybe it'll be a matzoh all its own enjoyable on its own merits.
I gave them four stars because the joint was clean, the waitress was nicely patient and you know where I stand on the food. Either way, I'd return to see if they can earn another star...
Unpretentious, solid diner fare.
I was super scared that the happy hour was going to be noisy, crowded, and lame. But to my surprise and enjoyment it was laid back, easy, and pretty tasty.
Don't expect a chef de cuisine, but you don't always need that. You do need a solid place with good food.
Went here a Friday evening after work. They close at 7p which is too bad, so if you're coming here after work, you have to come straight away.
This is a great place for a breakfast dinner. Their corned beef hash was great! The corned beef was super meaty and fried to tasty deliciousness. Served with potatoes and two poached eggs and a buttered bagel. I got it with a jalapeno bagel which was so tasty topped with egg and corned beef. nom nom nom.
I ordered a pancake 2x2 which came with two humongous dinner plate-sized pancakes, 2 sausages, 2 eggs, and bacon. omg so much breakfasty goodness... but for DINNER!
happy hour is from 4-6p champagned cocktails are $2 and beers are $2.50.
Every time I go here, I think it's going to be better than what it actually turns out being. Maybe I am unfair. They have cheap alcohol and happy hour every day. But the bagels aren't the best, (no low /reduced fat options, but what can you expect), coffee that tasts like Folgers, and they still charge $1.75 for it. But the fact that I always get stuck in the back in the line of traffic served by waitstaff who are all WAY to cool to be waitstaff.... I wanted to give 2 stars, but considering that I had the emerald city scramble today and they accommodated my substitution, and I liked that they offered veggie meat options.
It's ok. Not bad. Not great. Would be nice if they upped the service and served better coffee- is that too much to ask?
This is one of my favorite breakfast places. My boyfriend and I always say we are going to try lunch, but if you get there past 10 am on a weekend, there is a huge line, and I am just too lazy. The breakfast though is delicious! I always get the potato latkes. Any time I can have sour cream with breakfast, I am down. The latkes are quite delicious. I also really enjoy the sausage, it is very spicy and flavorful. The everything bagels are really good as well! Mmmmm, I kinda wana to go tomorrow morning now!
Roxy's Diner rounds out the duo of Fremont restaurants offering weekday breakfast (alongside brunch heavy-hitter The Dish).
Their famed E.O.B. (Egg-on-Bagel) sandwich, dubbed the Best in the City, does yeoman's work on a hangover.
For lunch or early dinner (they curiously close at 7PM), don't pass up the pastrami Reuben. Though smaller than those you'll find at Queen Anne's Hilltop Ale House and Phinney's 74th St Ale House, this sando brings the flavor in spades.
Roxy's has great Happy Hour drink specials, but the atmosphere is friendlier at next-door Norms (particularly if you're a dog lover).
So, I love breakfast. I really could eat breakfast at any hour of the day, happily! And so I must confess that I've only had breakfast at Roxy's, and so I can't comment on the rest of their ample fare. And, I will also confess that I almost always get the same thing, even after painfully studying the menu for something I might like to deviate for. Alas, it is the Veggie Heaven for me, every time, and... I love it. And I come back for it! I live in the neighborhood, so I'm sure that helps when considering where I want to go for breakfast, but even if I didn't, Roxy's would be at the top of my list! I like the loud diner atmosphere, the no-nonsense rules of the menu, and the waitstaff are real people. My coffee cup stays full, I leave feeling like I got my money's worth, and always willing to go back again.
I was introduced to pastrami sandwiches while I was in NYC. The carnegie deli would be open till 4am in the mornings. those sandwiches have helped on many nights on the town.
so when i moved to seattle. I would ask where do i find a great pastrami sandwich ? then I discovered http://restaurant.com. Roxy Deli had a coupon that gave you $25 off your check of $35 or more. All for $1.50. What a promotion. So i bought my limit of 8.
Grabbed 3 friends and we went for lunch. We all ordered various sandwiches. I ordered the pastrami NYC style. So this sandwich was a monster. When you bit into it the Meat would be squeezing out all over. What a mess but it was so delicious. We used the coupon with the bill. And it came out to $6 a piece including tip. My friends were happy so It made me happy.
Everyone had a wonderful meal and it was a start of a beautiful day.
I can't stand Fremont for many reasons, but that is another post. But I'm an optimist. Even in this pretentious yuppy community, a jewel emerges and it emerges in the form of Roxy's Diner. Walk in there and I swear the roller derby girls all work there as well. They're hot! and so is the food. Tasty too (the food). oh and reasonably priced! Diner style fare with awesome breakfast options and Reuben sandwiches that are off the hook! Sit at the bar, skip the bagel, bring a friend or two and enjoy. no frills good eatin
One of my favorite restaurants of all time is Katz's Deli in NYC. Their pastrami is one of the mysteries of the world to me...how they can make a beef brisket so tender, garlicky, spicy and just....awesome. I've been NYC a bunch of times and everytime I've gone I make sure I go there and have a pastrami on rye with a Dr. Brown's soda. Sigh.
Anyways I digress; ever since I've been hooked on Katz's pastrami I've been searching for a worthy place in Seattle to tide me over on my Jewish deli fix. I asked my Jewish friend to take me to her favorite deli in Seattle and she took me to Roxy's. Needless to say I had some high expectations and hopes before I got here.
We sat down and I ordered the pastrami on rye with mustard. Simple and a good test to see how this place would fare vs. the behemoth in NYC. And I can tell you this was place was very very good too. Their pastrami(while not handcut and fresh steamed) was great, succulent and delicious. It had the same garlicky snap and was almost as juicy as the one at Katz's. My friend had the corned beef which was also great but a little bit too healthy for me.
You may wait a few minutes on a weekend afternoon for a seat but definitely worth it. For me, I've found a spot to keep me level until my next trip to NYC. Now to find someone with an obsession with Jewish deli's to go with me more regularly...
Finally a five star review. I was starting to think I was becoming a cranky old foodie who enjoyed whining about dining experiences and shooing kids off the front lawn.
Roxy's was simply, a delight. Colors and personality both splash sensationally on the walls and the place is a-buzz with warm and friendly "diner chatter". Booths, stools, chairs, whatever; there's a good amount of space for patrons. The busy but friendly staff is attentive and opinionated about favorites on the menu. The menu is ambitious but from the sample that we had, it does very well. The country fried steak I had was really one of the finest I've ever had. The portions were more than enough. When a giant Everything Bagel can be served as substitute to toast, you get an automatic 5-stars. Oh and another thing, when your breakfast potatoes (house fries) are a blend of perfectly seasoned potatoes AND sweet potatoes, you deserve 6 stars.
I have been driving past this place for years, but today I finally went in. I have been missing out! I had the corned beef hash, it was lovely. The bloody marys were pretty good, my friends who had minosas seemed to enjoy them. This place is now on my list for sunday brunch, and possibly a nice lunch, too.
Very nice waitstaff as a bonus.
Been here a million times. I even brought my rents when they visited from NJ. Same atmosphere, no-nonsense and to the point. Love it. Best latke sandwich in Seattle and VEGETARIAN options across the board! Great deal after 3pm, 1/2 price bagels by the 1/2 or dozen, GREAT prices , especially on the cocktails! Where else can you get a mini mimosa or a bloody for 2 bucks?
Holy Schnikey! $2.50 pints of Hale's & $9 full pitchers! Hot Damn that is a deal. We went here for a quick dinner before going to a show & were Shocked that this awesome eatery was also a lovely drinkery.
The catch? It closes at 7pm & no seating after 6:30. Worked out fine for our purposes, but I could feel the bitter disappointment of patrons trying to enter as we left. Sorry guys!

Heard so much good stuff about this place, i was worried I might be disappointed but NO! Our party… Read more »
I came across the bridge to Fremont from downtown on a Sunday morning. I put Roxy's on my list for Sunday because people told me there was a cool farmer's market and swap meet in Fremont on Sundays.
When I walked up to Roxy's diner it looked poppin! There were alot of people waiting on the outside, smoking cigarettes, talking about what they did on their Saturday night. I walked in the diner and the place was crowded! I found a small place at the bar in the corner next to the register. The lady who helped was very friendly and asked me what i wanted. I ordered the NY pastrami (regular size, you can get bigger for more $) with a diet coke and started looking around the scene of the diner. It looked like a cool, hipster place that young people go to after a hard night of partying. It didn't strike me to be a deli...but very much a diner in this respect.
The sandwich came and was truly something to behold! The pastrami was tasty a flavorful - it was so smooth it almost melted in my mouth! I would highly recommend coming to Fremont on Sunday for the swap meet/farmer's market and hitting up this restaurant for lunch!
$2 champagne cocktails and mini mary's paired with great, super-friendly staff? I love it! Keep it up!
Roxy's had more champagne cocktail options than I was expecting, so I ended up having two. I believe it was the Bombay Bellini (w/ mango puree) and the Russian ..... I can't remember the name, but I believe it was the one with the blackcurrant juice. They tasted like juice, I could consume WAY too many of them, and the two I had definitely got a buzz going.
I originally wanted one of the mini-mary's, but decided that their Mary is not for me because they use a spicy mix instead of putting actual tomato juice in there. (I love tomato juice, so I'm picky about that.)
I also tried the spiced tater tots and they were good, but nothing special. The only thing that I was slightly bummed about is that the waiter checked about my food order about 10 minutes before HH started, and I didn't feel right telling him I'd like to sip on my drink for another 10 min and order the appetizer when it became half-priced. It was only about $3 anyway, so... not really a big deal.
The customer service: Great. Not only did they come off as being generally cheerful/friendly, but the male was especially nice and diplomatic in the way that he asked me to move from the booth to one of the smaller tables (b/c those were saved for 2+ people).
I'm not ready to 5-star Roxy's yet, but it definitely has potential!
Notes:
+ Happy Hour means one half-priced app PER DRINK. I noticed this in small font on the menu.
+ Most of the champagne cocktails are $2 for single and $4 for a double, but some of them cost $4 for a single.
+ Most breakfast omelets go for about $9-11.
+ Most of their appetizer options are fried.
+ I was rather amused by how a number of menu items had "Russian" in the name... and most of those items included sour cream. I was a little amused by that because just about the only time I eat sour cream is when I'm at family functions. (I moved here from a suburb of St. Petersburg in 1996)
+ NOT a good place to study, which was my original intention. The music was too loud, it's hard to get cozy in a chair, and the $2 delicious champagne cocktails are distracting.
Great food, cheap prices
Unfortunately will most likely not be back as they charge you extra to share your meal with another.
Roxy's was my very first Yelp review and I've decided it's time for an update because I love it just that much.
I know far too much about the servers here after being a regular for so long and I love it! One time they lost my ticket but comped my meal and my mimosa AND my coffee because they're that cool.
The food's still great, the specials are still interesting and the mimosas are still $2 or $4 for a double (which is a full wine glass of delicious champagne with a splash of orange juice.) Roxy's is one of my favorite places in Seattle and it's without a doubt the place I frequent the most.
*Also I got it wrong in that first review - pitchers of PBR are $5 anytime.

I can judge a weekend by how many times I have been to Roxy's. Some weekends I have to go twice in… Read more »
My boyfriend and I have been looking for a great breakfast place for years... we are always trying new places that have the same oil flavored hash browns and over/under cooked eggs. Not Roxy's! I will admit we have only been there once, but it was by far the best breakfast we have ever eaten out. The hash browns tasted awesomely crisp and buttery and our eggs were made to order, no problem. The girls working there were nice, quick, and friendly without being too chatty, and best of all, it is pretty cheap for a breakfast place, and extremely cheap for the quality. It is not an ideal place for kids, so unless we have a sitter, we will impatiently be waiting to go back.
Solid deli fair. Though it is on the high end for price. The pastrami and corned beef came out hot, tender and juicy and good rye bread with a tasty hint of mustard. The coleslaw was pretty generic, which was disappointing given the vibe of the place.
Friendly service and proximity to a certain soccer pub means I will return, though not that often to save to the pocket book. I also have to try it for breakfast.
But really im just a sucker for hot pastrami, I think it may be a problem.
Lunched with a friend at Roxy's today. This spot has earned another repeat customer. Service was fast and exceedingly friendly (thanks, Jamie!). My friend ordered a pastrami sandwich, which was so big I feared IT would eat HIM. I ate a Western Bacon Cheeseburger, served with fries on Jamie's recommendation. The burger was thick and juicy - much more ample than what I received when I ate at A Burger Place in the U. The fries were tater-tot crispy and perfect.
Roxy's also serves breakfast. All day. New fave breakfast place too? I'll report back and let ya know.
3 1/2 stars...oh Yelp, please give me half stars.
Anyhow, this place used to be a lot better...but I feel like my meal is shrinking every time. I always order the latkes & eggs. 2 potato latkes, 2 eggs, and 3 strips of bacon. Not bad at all. The latkes are great, but this time they were flatter and smaller than I've normally gotten them. I mean, because they were so flat, it was all really crispy and fried. Sure, I like it that way, but sometimes it's nice to have the center be a little soft. 2 eggs? Seriously? It looked more like 1 egg, the egg sizes have gone WAY down. The boyfriend got the pastrami hash and it came with 2 poached eggs that were PUNY. Get better eggs guys...seriously.
Overall the food is good and you're not going to find anything like this elsewhere in Seattle. I just wish that this darn recession would get better and people could get back to the yummy big portions I'm used to having!
I go to Roxy's with my boyfriend when I have had a rough day. I am a cheap date as far as holding my liquor goes, so one or two of the lil bloodies is as much as i could ever want, and the price is perfect. Round it out with tasty smoked fish, a couple eggs and attentive service from punks who are nice about my stuffy red nose and my outlook on life is much improved! It's therapy, and their matzoh ball soup is the perfect example of "jewish penicillin" .
A Jewish style diner that serves as a place for overworked livers to take a nap? Seriously. They'll sense your poor liver's plea for help, send you to the back of the diner for some serious R&R(and eggs and coffee and hashbrowns).
Servers that get to know you after a visit or two to the point you're swapping sordid details about the prior night.
They serve breakfast all day and kick ass at it too.
I can get my matzoh on with a side of bagel? Love it.
It truly is solid place to get your breakfast on. The kitschy diner swells with people at almost any hour, but there never seems to be much of a wait. The staff is friendly. The breakfast is piping hot and fresh. They'll even leave a water pitcher on the table because we drink that much.
The scrambles have fresh flavor. The bagels are perfectly toasted. The freshly made jam is delicious. The specials are truly special.
I love this place. It's a must every time I'm in town.
Besides who can't get behind a place that sells underwear that has "Tongue is Good" plastered on them? You stay classy Roxy's.
I didn't know Seattle had a Jewish deli. Chalah! We went to Roxy's for breakfast. I had the hash which was solid. It was solid because it was no fancy added items in my hash. Just a classic straight up deli style hash. It was very good. I haven't had a good classic hash in awhile. The loud and bustling environment really adds to the experience there. Servers are kind yet quick with the draw. Great in and out with good food. My wife got the Reuben. It was good. Best reuben yet in Seattle.
recommendations: challah french toast (is there any other way to make a good french toast?), pancake, bagels, fries (super crispy)
the challah french toast was pan fried to perfection. crispy on the outside and soft inside. how every good bread/pastry should be. i do wish they would make some kind of special sauce instead of boring maple syrup. the pancake is really fluffy and a little chewy too.
the prices are very reasonable and they serve breakfast food all day! one of my favorite brunch places in town.
Excellent service! Even though in the hilarious fine print on their menu it says "Please be patient during peak hours," the servers were extremely attentive. I think I got my water glass refilled four times in thirty minutes. My water rationing problem has never been accommodated like this.
The pancakes and fruit bowl I ordered were very standard down to the excessive honeydew. But they did not commit the sin of serving hard butter pats.
I don't know if they have better food on their 18-page menu and I just got unlucky. It's possible. Probably not though, because my dad's omelet and hash browns looked totally ordinary too.
In any case it was really cheap (are bellinis really $3 or is that a trick?) and we were treated like sultans of brunei.
I LOVE ROXY'S.
Probably my most favorite establishment in Fremont.
- $2 mimosas (and a wide variety of juice/mixers to choose from)
- $3 wells (and not shitty wells, things that came out of a glass bottle)
- BEST BREAKFAST. Always get the homefries over the hashbrowns.
- BEST STAFF. I love everyone there so much. I would quit my job and serve at Roxy's in a heartbeat. However, there seems to be virtually... zero turnover, which I don't blame them for. It's so chill.
- The "bacon specials" section of the menu
All of their food is good... all of it! Scrambles, meaty things, fried things, pancakes, coffee, drinks; the array of greasy, delicious options is just dazzling. This is THE ultimate hangover spot. And every breakfast entree comes with a bagel option instead of boring ol' toast!
I go here all the time. After work, before work, during work (uhh just kidding, I would never drink a mimosa in the middle of the day, that would be SO inappropriate and uncharacteristic of me)... when I leave Fremont/Seattle one of the places I will remember mostly fondly will be Roxy's.
I only wish they stayed open later, as I like them better than any of the actual bars in the Fremont Ave./36th area.
This is my go-to place for a stiff drink and awesome breakfast food. Curtis is an AWESOME server. Very personable, and somehow I end up with him every time I go in there. I like to walk to Roxy's on my day off to have a bloody mary or coffee with baileys and a bagel with all kinds of good stuff on it. They have a huge menu, some things pricey, most totally reasonable, even cheap. It can get hot in there when it's crowded, but it's not a problem. Roxys is the best.
I went to Roxy's for breakfast one morning when I had some time to kill, and it was amazing!
I had the Veggie Heaven scramble which included veggie sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes and maybe spinach if I remember correctly. It was great. The hasbrowns were perfectly crispy and for once instead of fearing restaurant toast I was excited to see and taste some really awesome toast. Very good indeed. The server was also really friendly.
The prices are a little high, but still, most likely worth it!
Ohhhhh Roxy's, you always make me feel so good!
Those scrambles, those tots, those amazing sweet potato fries, and even those regular fries, you make me feel so warm and loved.
I love all your greasy diner food! I feel so replenished and well fed after your meals! I promise to always stop in when i'm in town to eat your Russian and Greek scrambles, your veggie burgers, your hash browns.
Thank you for providing such satisfying foods!
Sidenote: On crowded and busy days, try to be patient with your server. That person has a lot of tables to take care of, and a lot of hungry irritable people to deal with. Be understanding of their stressful day. I heard people complain about service here. Go somewhere else if you can't understand what being "busy" means.
I've come in here twice to purchase a bag of bagels for work and every time I get the same blond with awful facial piercings giving me attitude. It's just putting bagels in a bag...not asking you to build a rocket. I don't like faux alternative people giving me attitude at 7am in the morning. So I won't be giving them any more of my money.
They bill themselves as a deli, which is not entirely accurate, since it is nothing like any deli I've been to. They also call themselves an east coast establishment on the west coast (seriously, wtf is with the west coast inferiority complex? why can't west coast diners just be west coast diners and not 'east coast diners on the west coast) which also isn't entirely accurate since the food they serve was delicious and nothing like anything I've ever eaten on the east coast (most of which isn't so delicious). I suppose I could go on, but I don't see the point; just go there (preferably not on a weekend) yourself and you'll see why west coast diners don't suck.
Good G-D, I love this place.
YA RLY.
SRSLY.
SO GOOD.

Came for breakfast on a Saturday, got in before the crowds. Food was phenomenal! Pastrami hash was sublime, Lox was buttery and mimosa variations were dee-lish! Inside is fun & funky, a perfect representation of the Fremont feel.
I've enjoyed meal's at Roxy's for a few years. They're pretty good. The food is reliably good as are the bagels. In recent times I've found that they're understaffed and as a result the entire experience suffers. Service lately has been very rushed, the food takes an exceptionally long time to arrive and the portion size has shrunk. When the food arrives its tasty but after 45 minutes a string cheese and a juice box would have been culinary gold.
Its a good restaurant and I'll probably end up going again. Hopefully they'll have more staff next time.
Do not miss this place for brunch in Seattle.
The place looks so different.. the walls are covered in a huge modern mural. Roxy's is famous for their extensive sandwich list, but everytime I'm here (and, admittedly, hung over) I can't help but get breakfast. It's fast, the servers are quirky and fun, and I love eggs and hashbrowns to no end, brother. To no end.
Also, try their oatmeal--it's a large bowl and comes mixed with cinnamon, brown sugar, almonds, raisins, and a little butter. Ohhhh, man alive.
My last experience was Friday, when I was driving home from a friend's at 8am and roommate Joe wanted bagel sandwiches. He hopped out while I waited in the car (the outfit was too.... obvious from the night before, hehehe) and we brought home some of the most delicious (and filling!) bagel sandwiches ever made by man. They were probably made by a woman.
Last Saturday was my first time here, I really really liked it, and I'm thinking this will be a regular place for me. It was around 3pm, pretty slow, so we got seated right away and everything was prompt. The only thing that got messed up was the sour cream and salsa for my friend's breakfast burrito was asked to be on the side and didn't happen. The server remembered when it was about halfway gone, and apologized, so at least they remembered. Obviously it wasn't a deal breaker.
Here's the greatest hits:
- $2 champagne cocktails - try the ginger kiss, champers with ginger ale.
- An entire page of the menu is dedicated to meals where a bagel is the star. I had traditional lox breakfast with whole grain bagel - AWESOME! You can get an egg/bagel/cheese sandwich for under 4 bucks!
- diner counter, which always scores points with me
- pastrami sandwiches available "New York Sized", which if it's anything like Bloom's Deli on 39th, lawd help ya.
I haven't seen a monte cristo sandwich on a menu since I don't know when.
I'll definitely be back.
Sad sad sad. I miss Roxy's from downtown when they actually made a sandwich. The brisket sandwich I received was a thin replica of a sandwich. I was very disappointed.
3 stars for the service as the gal working there was cheerful, which was a nice contrast to the drabness of the place. I felt like I was sitting on a homemade rickety bench in a drafty warehouse.
