After a day of walking in NYC, I needed a break! So this was place and great location since it's smack dab in the middle of times square! The food here is pretty expensive (for what they have) but I think their cheesecakes are well worth it. Why?

1. They have many different fruit & topping flavors
2. They're HUGE

The raspberry hazelnut chocolate chunk cheesecake was delicious! My boyfriend ordered the apple strudel (or streusel) cheesecake which was also good because of their huge apple chunks!

Watch out for a man that asks you to add tip. We saw him stop a family leaving the restaurant because they didn't add enough tip! When it was our turn to pay he "reminded" me that tip wasn't included and I told him that we were going to leave the tip when we leave (we still wanted to just sit and rest for a few more minutes). What a guy!

Came here to escape the rain and because we were lured by the pastries in the entrance. Great location in Times Square, but no view from the tables, unfortunately. After scouring the menu for reasonably priced items (there are none) we settled for $14.95 buffalo wings and two cheesecake slices at $9.95 each. Yikes.

The buffalo wings were nice and crispy and came with bleu cheese and a tangy sauce. Not quite buffalo wings, but they were good fried chicken wings. The cheesecake slices were ginormous! Enough for two people, easy. Very creamy and they had a lot of flavors to choose from.

You can probably do better for your money if you venture out of Times Square.

Summary: 2/5 stars
+Enormous cheesecake slices
+Good wings
-Overpriced
-Wish there was a view of Times Square

Although my usual NY breakfast is an egg on a roll, sometimes you can't find it.  Like in Times Square!! I guess the tourists don't know what it is, so they don't sell egg on a roll anywhere.

So the Roxy is pretty famous, I think it's made its way onto cameo appearances on Letterman and it's probably been in a few movies.  You go there, you spend $20 on breakfast with a side of NY attitude.  However, the breakfast is very generous. I had bacon and eggs and it was easily enough for two.

Quick, convenient, good food.

Horrible service

Well, even they serve great pastrami sandwiches, it won't offset the poor service they have at Roxy. The first time I went, I thought the service was okay perhaps because I was too hungry and tired to care for it. The second time I went, the waiters were rude and unfriendly. but I didn't really care. Until the third time I went, I really couldn't stand it.  When I went in, they refused to give me a bigger table, hey Roxy, I was holding 2 huge shopping bags and half of your restaurant was empty, what is wrong with you? I was really frustrated and left the restaurant. That was my last and final time I went to Roxy.

I'm giving it 2 stars simply because the waitress made laugh, but here's what: I know a thing or 2 about soups and the fact that the old waitress told me that there was no way they could combine chicken and noodles in a bowl and call it soup really ticked me off. What deli doesn't have chicken noodle soup?? Then the waitress told me they also couldn't serve me half of a sandwich. Seriously this was the soup nazi's of all delis. The more the waitress told me no the happier she seemed to get which gave me a good chuckle.
I ended up ordering french onion soup (uh, why bother roxy?) And a hot dog (meh) since the old woman was obviously annoyed w the fact that I was not prepared for all her objections.
There has got to be better deli's in NYC. Actually, go anywhere but here unless u wanna laugh at your own misfortune much like the old waitress who denied me my soup.

I really wanted to love this place, but it turned out to be just a satisying meal.  It did start off great when we were served up the some excellent deli-style pickles. I of course love the size of a NY sandwhich, and the size of the beef brisket sandwhich was monstrous.  I only wish the brisket  was more moist.  The corn beef hash was OK, but could've been less salty.  Of course you can get an egg cream.  For the uninitiated, an egg cream is like a carbonated chocolate milk.  I probably won't come back here again preferring instead carnegie deli, or I'll try katz's.

This IS the New York cheesecake I was looking for!  I have only tried their cheesecake-I buy a slice and take it back to my hotel to share with my husband.  We just ate the one with peanut butter cups on top-it was really good.  I've also tried the rocky road macadamia nut kind.  It is a bit pricey-$10/slice.  I don't mind paying for GOOD food though.  They package it up with a couple of forks too.  Been to NYC 3 times this year and had to have a slice of this cheesecake each time.

Not worth it! The prices are so expensive that the people who were seated behind us actually took one look at the prices, made a comment, and walked out.

Also, this is the place that America gets fat. The dishes are so big that it would take two or three people to eat one of them. I should have known when I ordered the greek salad platter (they didn't just make a regular sized greek salad). Well it should have been called a trough, because there's no way I could have eaten it all.  When my boyfriend's sandwich came out, people at other tables actually commented on the size of it.

My advice, walk a couple blocks outside of Times Square and the Theater District for a better meal at a better price.

I was expecting changes but  that thing suddenly happened in front of me. He said he is manager but I dont belive it. That guy was really hunger for money or thief?

We were headed to TKS to pick up tickets for a Broadway play.  We were starving so we stopped in right across the way for soup and sandwich. Now that doesn't sound like much of a meal but boy, oh boy, you'd never finish a whole sandwich here.

I enjoyed a bowl of French Onion Soup before our Pastrami sandwich arrived. Even splitting the sandwich, neither of us finished our half, but it was great pastrami. It was perfect with the pickles that were served on the side.

We ordered a piece of cheesecake to bring home with us for later (much later). We even split this piece in thirds for 3 to enjoy and it was divine.

As for price, I didn't see the bill or pay but I imagine that it must have been pricey - BUT you get what you pay for!

My sister & brother in law wanted to come here to re-experience the cheesecake and well it was ok. I got the oreo one and they got the rocky road--for some reason we didn't enjoy them.  I mean maybe we should have gotten the plain cheesecakes?

Anyway here's why they were ok.  For my oreo it tasted more oreo than cheesecake... and well this seems like a no brainer, I expected the cheesecake to taste cheesecake-ish with a hint...taste, after taste even of oreo.  The oreo was overwhelming and soggy--a texture not expected.

I can't tell you much about the rocky road except that it was too chocolately.

We also ate dinner here and let me tell you it's overly expensive but they give you a shit load of food! I SUGGEST SHARING! Unless you're a hungry hungry hippo or a person who can eat for 2, even 3 then this is your place to enjoy an entree alone.  But if the above is NOT you then share...the downside there's a sharing fee of $3.

I ordered spaghetti and meatballs with my mom but ran out of spaghetti so I ended up getting zitti with meatballs.  I mean the sauce and zitti was ok but I will say that the meatballs were reallly good and huge! We also ordered a side of fries and they tasted like take-out fries--which i love, greasy and crunchy.

Oh yeah! The seating here is reallly tight. I'm a skinny girl and the distance between the table and myself was pretty close...so yeah.

The food is WAY too expensive for the portion sizes or quality they serve. The prices, no doubt, reflect the high rent in Times Square and also aim to exploit the tourist traffic.

What's worse? A quick glance over the kitchen, prep areas and even the dining areas - the place is absolutely filthy. It looks like they haven't had a good cleaning in years, but that's something that should happen regularly and frequently. Disgusting.

I've only stopped here for cheesecake. Once with my best friend only because we were craving it and didn't want to walk much further; once with my niece and some friends because she loves the touristy stuff.

I've had a couple of different flavors and enjoyed both of them. Sadly, it's been a few years since I've been to the city. I'm pretty sure one of them had some sort of mix of peanut butter and chocolate; but other than that I don't remember exactly which ones I ordered.

Their variety of cheesecakes will bring me back for more. I'm sure I'll stop here again one day.

I've rounded this up from a 3.5 stars. I know it's Times Square but still - it's expensive. Granted you probably won't eat here everyday.

I had the pastrami on rye. HUGE. TASTY, and redeeming of the hole it put in my pocket book at the end. The coleslaw is also tasty. Not too creamy.

I also got a side of fries - and you can DEFINITELY skip the fries - I finished 3/4 of the sandwich.

I also had a slice of strawberry cheesecake. There's really not much to the strawberry it's more like food coloring with some small strawberry looking lumps, but the cheesecake itself is very rich, and is uniquely good.

I had the carved turkey sandwich and the hot brisket sandwich and both were good.  The portions are huge and you can definitely share one sandwich between two people.  However, be aware that if you dine in, there is a $3 sharing charge.  Meaning that if you only order one sandwich between two people, there is a $3 surcharge.  Instead, order it to-go and sit outside and eat the sandwich.  The black and white cookie is very good as well.

This place is okay if you are fine with paying $22 for a sandwich. They are so huge and packed with meat that it is necessary that you share it with someone. Don't think you can finish these sandwiches on your own. Its located in Time Square. Be prepared to pay for that high check though.

But yes, the sandwiches were super yummy!

First of all, if you plan to go to New York and happen to stop by Times Square, do not I mean DO NOT go into Roxy's Deli to eat.  There are wayyy better options.

I will break it down as to why I had to give this place 1 star.

The reason why I decided to even come here was because I heard of it somewhere, forgot where, so my wife and I decided to try it out.

We sat down and ordered the roast beef sandwich (like $20) , and the surf and turf ( $35), also a sprite ($3 / can soda no refill).

Our waiter (some guy), after we ordered, and after he brought me my sprite, never came back until he brought us the check.

We looked at our food and thought wow, we ordered too much, the sandwich was so huge that you could not even take a bite unless you took out about 90% of the meat.  The surf and turf was a big platter that the both of us could have shared as well.

Although the food looked appetizing, it was not.  The sandwich was way too big and very very bland.  Had no flavor to it.  It was one of the worst roast beef sandwiches that I have ever eaten.  No mayo, salt, pepper, ketchup, or anything that would flavor the sandwich.  I don't see what people see in their sandwiches but we didn't see anything good about it.  I mean instead of putting in so much meat that anyone would have to go through and take out most of it in order to eat it, put less meat and more time into making it a good sandwich.  Did I mention that the middle of the pile of meat was frozen???  Worst sandwich ever, we felt like we got robbed in there.

For the surf and turf, the steak was cooked medium well, I ordered medium rare.  Shrimp was bland, fries weren't good, onion rings were OK.  Also the waiter, didn't bother to bring any ketchup, or steak sauce.

Now I wouldn't give a restaurant only one star just based on food, the service must have sucked as well.  Now I think I mentioned that the waiter that we had was unseen after bringing my drink until he brought us the bill towards then end of dinner.  The busboys brought us our food.  After sitting down and beginning to eat our horrible dinner, we started to notice things that servers were doing to all other tables except ours.

Everyone that came in and sat down were given water except us.  There was another waitress that served 3 or 4 tables near us and approached every table (these were tables that were literally next to us) at least 3-4 times to ask how they were doing and how was the food, brought them extra napkins, refilled their water, etc.  Every time she would walk by us, we would make eye contact and that was about it.  Our server was still nowhere to be seen.  I was wondering what was going on, there were a total of 3 servers and about 5-6 total tables to wait that I could see but none of the servers even acknowledge that we were there.  I started to wonder if we looked like cheap asses that do not tip so there was no point of servicing us or something was wrong.  Was it the clothes we wore, or maybe we were the only Asian couple in the restaurant?  Don't know because I normally tip at least 20% and get yelled at by the wife because I over tipped.

We to end this little frustration, as soon as we were done tried to flag one of the waitresses down so we can get our check and a box for the leftover sandwich, the waitresses looked at us, didn't even acknowledge us, and left our sight.   After a few minutes of debating if we should run out on the bill, our waiter mysteriously showed up and asked if we wanted dessert, we said no, check and box please.

After he brought us our check, total came out to $61,  I reached into my pocket and looked at my wallet and only saw $62, so I decided to run it on my credit card.  Guess what, we waited over 5 minutes while the other waitresses walked by our table several times, our waiter still didn't come back.  Since I was already frustrated with the food and service, i grabbed my $62 and left it on the table.  That was $61 for food and $11 for tip - $1 for every-time that we needed servicing but no one came to help service us.

The last reason why I gave Roxy's 1 star is because I cannot give it 0 Stars.  They need to retrain their staff and rethink their menu if they are going to charge an arm and a leg for it.

DO NOT EAT THERE A TOTAL RIP OFF - go to Katz's Deli

I ordered the Pastrami on Rye... and lived.

Seriously, I only ate half of it. Got that and fries (hint, skip the fries) - for $22. Was it worth it? Yeah...  it was a great sandwich. 6 inches of meat on a couple of slides of rye bread. The smell and taste will stick with me for a long, long time.

The other half is in my refrigerator. I plan to eat it... over the next week.

Bottom line: Small in size... only if you plan to eat in.

Being that it was our last day in New York. A breakfast of CHAMPIONS was what we were looking for! It's only fitting that we get ourselves a New York style breakfast at the most over-priced tourist trap in times square!

This place is perfectly named Roxy. Because like any erotic dancer named Roxy. She looks enticing and her cocoa butter scent seduces you with a promising pleasurable "meal" which will set you back $20-$40 less in your pocket and say to yourself.."what the hell just happened?!"

The plates here are BIG. But  the taste comes up way way short.
* | Eggs & Pastrami http://static.px.yelp.... , Bleh.
* | Eggs and Corn Hash, http://static.px.yelp....,  was So so
* | Fruit Plate Thing http://static.px.yelp.... , Yuck!

Besides the Cool cartoon artwork decorating the dimly lit walls http://static.px.yelp.... that's where the "COOL" factor starts and ends http://static.px.yelp.... . Service is mediocre and waiting for your food here is like waiting for Jesus's second coming.

Rye's Notes:
*Expensive
*Don't order with a Vietnamese accent. Your dish will come out last
*Did I mention expensive $6 for a cup of O.J

Home of the "Black & White" cookie is Roxy's. Whenever I go to New York I always have to stop here to get my B&W no matter what, usually after a show when it's nice and crowded. . .

Well yeah they have food too. Jeeze.

So the thing to get here is their mile high sandwiches, because truly they are a mile high. I've been to delicatessens here in CA and none really compare to the sheer size of their sandwiches here. Order their pastrami mile high.

The only real major downside (besides parking, but who drives in NY?) is the price. I think this sandwich costed me the better part of a ticket to Phantom. Well not that much, but it was a bit pricey for meat and bread.

It's worth stopping by to get the cookie and to see the building, because that is cool altogether too, and maybe stopping with some friends to grab some joe.

I had been here before and thought to myself, it was pretty tasty. Yes, touristy, its in Time Square, not sure what you would expect based on the location, but pretty poor service too.

We stopped in for dinner after a show, with more then half the tables empty, the server had no idea what "selected carbonated water" was, though it was on the menu. He said they did not have such things, until someone explained to him what it was. He returned to confirm my pizza selection, which I did not order, upon delivering, I still received the pizza in front of me.

Asked for a glass of water, never received it, asked again, and again, never received it. I had the Beef Briskey, which sounded really tasty, it was luke warm, and flavorless. Had to slather it with the gravy they provided to make it remotely editable.

Cheesecake for the ending, had the Snickers, it was okay, could have been not so dried out, was no moisture in the entire thing. Friend had the Strawberry Cheesecake which was really creamy and tasty. Though he ordered the Philly Pizza which was under at some parts a half inch of oil.

Will not be back, plenty of other places that one can go to for an experience but more importantly, tasty food.

I went here during our 2006 visit to New York.  Man this place is expensive, but what do you expect for Times Square?  In the scheme of things, maybe 7.95 for cheese cake isnt that expensive... I dunno.  It was very tasty and a nice sized portion.  They also have a great selection.  We went here for dessert after watching a broadway play.  My brother who lived there at the time told me ESPN zone would have been a better choice for dessert.

3.5 stars, I definitely almost gave them a 4. Roxy's is obviously going to be very touristy due to its location in Times Square. The prices are quite steep which helps them pay for that rent, I think its about $25 or so for a sandwich here. I say sandwich but its really at least a pound or more of meat piled on top of some bread. Whats really sad about Roxy is that they  actually charge a fee for sharing which you could easily do. If you finish a sandwich here you should win a t-shirt I swear. I got an open faced turkey sandwich here which was nearly the same amount and I was ashamed to finish it, though I was starving before I started I was full beyond comprehension when I was done.

Anyway the food is pretty good, the meats are freshly cut (hence the "delicatessen" in the name) and their huge selection of desserts are probably something that you'll get to go unless you paid to share your meal with someone or didn't finish.

And ridiculously overpriced because they know they're in tourist-ville. Anyway, the staff was inattentive and were more interested in talking to each other about their weekend plans instead of seating and tending to the guests. I had a $10 slice of dry, undersized chocolate cake, whose remnants I gave to a homeless man that insisted on having it...even though I told him it was half-eaten.

I'll never come here again.

A burger with fries for $16 ($20 with tax and tip)! I know this is Time Square and this NY.... but come on!!!

The burger was charred pretty badly and the only things I liked were the fries and the cole slaw.

I don't understand those huge pickles they serve on the side in a little dish. They were whole and salty. (Perhaps they're props and visuals to justify the price.)

Being a tourist on a budget, I was thinking about the McDonalds down the street AND WONDERED WHY DID I COME HERE? Aside from charging you way less, Mcdonalds at least has better seats and service: I ended up at a tiny table between two rows of larger tables.

Just be ready to cough up some cash for the BEST cheesecake this island girl has ever tasted.  We always stay at the W in Times Square and this is right around the corner from the hotel entrance.  Save $10 and room in your tummy to end the night with a perfect slice of heaven.

We like the blueberry cheesecake (with blueberry topping) and the triple chocolate brownie cheesecake...only for TRUE chocolate lovers.  It's creamy, smooth, and just a little salty -- to counteract the sweet. We even carried a couple pieces home on the plane!

Roxy's is a double-edged sword. I have mixed feelings about it, yet every time I hit Broadway, I find myself heading back there yet again.

The Good:
-I know it's a tourist trap, but to me, it's the quintessential New York delicatessen. I love the dill pickle appetizer, and when I order the lox and cream cheese on bagels, it always makes me feel like I'm really in New York.
-It's convenient for a post-Broadway show bite to eat.
-The desserts (cheesecake, black and white cookies like on Seinfeld, etc.) are delish.

The Bad:
-It's over priced.
-The owners are odd, bordering on rude. Last time I went, I took a picture of the dessert case and the owner, who didn't speak very good English, first asked me if he was in the picture. I replied no. (Why so vain? I just want to remember the desserts, thanks buddy.) Then he made some sort of vague threat about how I'd "better not put it on the internet". I thought he was kidding and then he was like, "No, I'm serious." Whatever dude. Go bake me some more of those yummy goodies ya got in that case. So ha. The picture may not have made it to the internet, but the criticism will.

Try Roxy's at your own risk. I think the best way is to know what you want, walk in, and walk out with the goods with as little interaction with the people there as possible.

I will have to chalk this expirience up to "eating breakfast in Time Square". I can't be mad at Roxy for charging $12 for pancakes and $6 for a SIDE of bacon. I can only be mad at myself for thinking breakfast at a deli in time square would be tasty and reasonable. Yet I have had much better at Denny's and at least there, my syrup doesnt come in little kraft packages. It wasn't bad per say. Just defiantely not a $75 breakfast for 2 sort of meal. We also had steak and eggs. meh. The ambiance was exactly what I was expecting it to be and I really likes it. I just hoped the food and prices could have reflected that.

There is not much you can do about price gauging in Time Square. Real residents of the city should know better than to eat out in that district at all. However, I was pleasantly surprised at Roxy last week when we seemed to be getting what we paid for. The $8 piece of pie was huge; my friend couldn't even finish it. I was in love with my $4.50 Linzer tart. The hot chocolate was even the perfect fit. Maybe it's just that baked goods always taste awesome. If you are stuck in this tourist trap and need something sweet, this is a safe bet.

I got a cheesecake to go from here I want to say 5 years ago.  It was expensive $9 for a slice, but it was the best cheesecake I've ever had.  It just melted in your mouth! MMMMmmmm...!

NEVER EAT HERE!!!  All of the staff, especially the manager, are the rudest I've ever met.  That's saying a lot considering the number of times I've travelled cross country.  The food is okay, but they are ridiculously overpriced and they have no problem over charging those prices.  Example?  I ordered a $3.25 hot chocolate, as stated in their menu.  I was charged $4.95!  When I pointed out the error to the manager, with the menu in hand as proof, he told me that it was the right price and told me to get out.  We were greeted upon entering with "What do you want?"  The bathroom was filthy and disgusting.  The toilet had overflowed onto the floor, along with the trash can, and there was fecies on the seat.  We were told that we had 1 hour from the time on our ticket to eat and leave.  After that, it's $20 an hour.

I repeat... NEVER EAT HERE!!! Save your money and hit the 24 hour diner on 8th Ave around 50th Street.  The food, prices and people are much much better.

Ummmm....yeah....SOOOOOO not worth it!!!!! $46 for a hot pastrami sandwich and some french toast..... during lunch time!!!!!!!!! What's wrong here?!?!?! Ummmmm...how bout everything?!?!?!?!

My bf had been dying to go here because of the huge sandwiches that they serve. I mean, don't get me wrong, but they were freakin enormous! Was it worth the $? Hell no!!!! Not only that, but it didn't even come with fries. You had to buy that as a side dish. Are you kidding me?!?!?!?! And check this out people, if you're sharing your dish, they charge you $3 extra!!! WTH!?!?! Literally, on the bottom of the menu, it states..."Sharing Charge: $3".... How shady is that???? And the french toast.... Well... they didn't even have syrup in that canister, like how most restaurants have them. Instead, they gave me 3 packets of syrup, similar to the ones that McDonald's hands out when you order their hot cakes.... Annnnnnnnnnnd they gave me COLD, HARD BUTTER!!!! Irritating!!!!

Advice: Go to Denny's instead.

Pickles are delicious and they serve it to you in subsitute of bread. Brilliant!

Portions are massive! I had the Pastrami Sandwich--layers and layers and layers and layers and layers of the thinly sliced meat. YUM!

The cheesecake was HUGE! Yeah, but that didn't phase me from devouring all of it! =)

Prices? Eh. But that's the price you pay for being a tourist in Time Square.

Its the standard NY tourist Deli experience. The corned beef sandwich was as big as my head! but also 20 bucks...are you kidding me? My daughter had the burger a real deal at just $15. I liked the pickles and coleslaw they made for a nice appetizer. We didn't have the cheese cake but I have to admit they really  looked awesome. they are big enough for 2 or 3 people to share. The only thing I didn't like about the place is the its run down and a bit dirty. We had a table near the back and when I glanced around the wall at the prep area I disappointed to see a mess on the floors and generally all over the area.

Awww yeah!!  Now, we're talking! This review is not about the food though, this is the spot for cheescake (beats Junior's in my opinion) and I also am a big fan of their GIANT brownies which they have many variations of. Oh how I love baked goods!  Especially from Roxy's

Their Brownies: HUGE, moist and just the way they should be made..rich...just like I like my men :)

Their Cheescake:  Very creamy, melts in your mouth...mmmm sounds like my lover :)

As someone who lives in New York, I never would have set foot in this place if I hadn't had out of town guests who really wanted to try it.  After being there, I'll never step foot in it again.  The only reason it actually gets two stars is because the cheesecake is really, really unbelievably good.  But, at $10 a slice, it better be.  The slices are huge but there's also a $3 sharing charge.  They'd be better off selling a slice half the size for $6 and then you wouldn't be stuck schlepping around half eaten cheesecake simply for the fact you can't bear to throw it out after spending so much money on it.  The coffee was nothing special and service was definitely sub-par--they asked us three times within three minutes if we were ready to order yet we had to ask three times for a glass of water.  Even as a tourist, there have got to be better places to go for cheesecake.
