this place is my favorite sandwich spot. I've tried ike's, and little lukas and this spot i've always keep coming back too.

because im on a special diet. i always order turkey with onions, lettuce and mayo. on dutch crunch.

first the dutch crunch here is the best.. i mean its slighty sweet and has that big crunch feel. i mean you can look on your plate and see on the crumbs from the bread.

the turkey meat is sweet or somethin. but its hella good..

cost; i believe the smallest size is 7 or 8 dollars. but the size is at least a foot long.

wait time: i always call in but at lunch time i  know the wait is long.

other good stuff: Trip Tip and i believe crab looks good too.

I got the regular Roxie special, the size is huge!  I would recommend eating half then saving the rest for another meal.  I got it on dutch crunch, it had the right amount of mayo, mustard.  Veggies tasted fresh.  Overall very good sandwich!

I'll be trying the Simon Special next time, definitely won't eat the whole thing in one sitting.  Left me bloated.

From the outside, you would assume that this is just a typical corner liquor store. There is nothing fancy about this place, I don't think they even have windows. This impression doesn't change once you get inside. The store is really snug, you wont believe how much food/candy/drinks they're actually able to pack into this small store.

But behind a tall counter, you can see the heads of workers busy making the famous sandwiches they are known for. I personally order the Junior roast beef sandwich all the time. SO GOOD. I love everything about this sandwich, everything from its delish bread to the savory meat. I've been here about ten times, everytime I order the roast beef sandwich. Next time, I need to try their other sandwiches, which I'm sure will be just as awesome.

So conclusion here, don't judge a book by its cover (or I guess the appearance of the store) or else you could miss out on something truly awesome!

Another solid sandwich spot, close to where I grew up. I used to come here back in the day, but had to refresh my memory.

I got the turkey club on dutch, toasted. Good bread, and nice ratio of ingredients. Generous on the avocado, and didn't feel too stuffed from the Junior size $7.99.

Old school spot, they've been doing it for years and still do it well.

Anything on their dutch crunch is great, but I pretty much love their bread. It's ridiculously soft on the inside and crunchy on the exterior. It really makes for the perfect sandwich bread when toasted. Dutch crunch or weath, do it. The meatball is freaking delicious, and is the bbq beef. Service is decently paced, and a junior sandwich at $5.99 (or $6.99 for a special) makes for a meal in and of itself. Get here after the rush around 12-1, and you'll get a quick sandwich. Service is really friendly, but the clientele is kind of funky sometimes. You get all sorts here. Good sandwich for the area, but the cheese isn't really melted well.

My coworker would seldom stop by this place to buy one of their sandwiches for breakfast and would offer to get me one as well. Sure why not, skipping breakfast is a big nono.

So I've been trying their turkey sub with the dutch crunch bread, pesto, pepper jack cheese, and everything else. It's bigger than a Subways 1 footer, and heavier too. This thing definitely packs a punch, and while I'm rarely able to finish it all for breakfast, I was not "satisfyingly" filled up. It lacks something, and has too much of something else.

First of all, I think the downfall of this sub is the bread. The dutch crunch packs too much flavor that it overwhelms the lettuce and tomato. It goes well with the pesto and cheese, but that also caused it to almost completely wipe out the turkey meat's flavor. When I eat a sandwich, I rely on the flavor that comes with the veggies and meat mostly, so it's a bit strange for me to have the condiments and bread be the dominant one.

Second, again with the bread, it's either too hard or crunchy. Sticking this shit in my mouth pretty much engulfs all the other ingredients. Everytime I chew, I chew mostly the bread first, and the rest of the insides get "mixed" with the bread; you don't get to chew those individually. Don't get me wrong - their bread isn't bad, but a sandwich shouldn't be focused so much on the bread. What do you think of when you eat a Big Mac, a Whooper, or Big Jack or whatever the hell you call those? Exactly! The meat and the veggies! You don't eat those then think "oh wow, the buns sure were good!"

Lastly, again with the sauce, it's a bit overwhelming. I just opened up the remaining of the sub to confirm this - EVERYTHING is drenched with the sauce. My turkey is white-green from it, my lettuce is white-green from it, the tomato / onion is white-green from it, the inside of the bread is white-green from it... you think you get the picture? Well picture THIS - it's like someone did a skeet skeet into my damn sandwich yesterday and now it's starting to mold. That's fucking nasty man! What sick fuck would even have the appetite to eat this now? In my opinion, sauce shouldn't be this heavy where it covers the flavor of all the other ingredients. So when I bite down on the bread, all the other ingredient squishes out... and they're ALL drenched with the sauce. If I'm not tasting the exterior of the bread, I'm tasting the interior which consists of nothing but sauce.

So in conclusion, I do think this is a filling sandwich, but as a breakfast sandwich, it felt "unsatisfying" because I usually expect something more "fresh," like fruits, veggies, something mellow and soft, unlike the heavy bread / pesto flavor. There's too much heavy flavor in this sub, and I conclude that this would be better off as a late lunch - dinner type of meal.

I really wanted to fall in love with this place but I just couldn't. First impressions are important - and my date with Roxie's couldn't hit the mark. Why? Because of the service.

The sandwich spot is located inside the local market/liquor store, so expect tight spaces when walking through the aisles and "excuse me's" getting around people in the store. Hopefully you're at least 5'2, or else you won't be seen when ordering your sandwich - food shelves block you from seeing what's behind the counter...

    FOOD:
BBQ Beef sandwich on dutch crunch ($7.99) - they use real beef, not processed deli meat! Yay. So that was a plus. I asked the lady to not put onions in my sandwich...low and behold there's onions in my sandwich. I honestly didn't think she was paying attention while making my order anyways since she was talking incessantly to her coworker. Didn't even feel warm & toasty as requested, probably cause it got cold while she attempted to put everything together in a 15-minute time frame...with me as the only customer there. I did enjoy the sandwich though, but not as much as my beloved sandwich hot spot: Lou's on Geary.

Overall: 3. The food seems good so if you're in the area check it out. Don't expect over-the-top customer service though. I'll give this sandwich spot another chance if ever I'm in the area again.

Well, I've jumped on the Paleo wagon, so no more sandwiches for me, but I still dream about the dutch crunch here. SO Good. Chicken with avocado, onion, tomato, and lettuce on the dutch crunch was my go-to, and it never disappointed.  Good mix of snacks and candy too.

Oh god. My eyes always are bigger than my stomach, and my boyfriend doesn't help. I always end up getting the regular size, and it clearly is too much food for me.

I can't help it though! Look at all the other reviews! You can clearly see why I go against my better judgement at this place!

Their BBQ sandwich is no joke, and their tuna sandwich... oh my goodness, I was completely blown away. I always thought that tuna sandwiches were humble things, but these people made me think twice about tuna... and this is coming from a person who already likes tuna. Yea, I don't think I'll ever want to buy tuna sandwiches from other places again, not when this place has blown them out of the waters.

This is also one of those places where I just gotta have my own order. Like, seriously, I HAVE TO. I'm greedy with this place's sandwiches, especially when they taste so good the next day. No sharesies... ok I'll make exceptions. But seriously, this is a place where I'm glad my boyfriend doesn't like mustard and pickles.

I really wish they made wraps too, not because I actually like them, but because there is too much delicious bread, and that makes it even more fattening.

Roxie Food Center is located in my old hood, near my old school. I'm surprised at how much Yelp attention this corner store has gotten. I love that a local haunt, with a mostly blue collar clientele, has gained some notoriety in our online world.

Unless you haven't eaten in a week, the junior size will do ya just fine. I ordered a junior turkey avocado on dutch crunch w/ the works (~$6.50, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mayo & mustard.) Pretty delicious & tasted the way I remember from back in the day (please excuse over-usage of that term; when you get to be my age, everything reminds you of back in the day, you young 20-somethings!)

My bf has tried the BBQ beef & the tri tip & said they weren't generous enough with the meat & that the sandwiches tasted too similar because of the mayo/mustard/bread.

Unlike when I was in school, I don't eat sandwiches very often anymore. Reason for 3 stars instead of 4 is I really enjoy the garlic spread from Little Luccas in SSF, so I prefer their sammiches. Still, Roxie is a worthy of your lunch money so give it to them!

First time trying Roxi's was right after Tuesday nights class at CCSF, the hubby and I were starving and remembered this place was close by.

Luckily, there were no lines at the time so we went right in and ordered two subs. We went with the Roxie Special and the Simon Special, both on the dutch crunch.

Both sandwiches were HUGE, though, after swapping halves, I did prefer the Simon but wish there was a little less meat in it. I highly suggest splitting one because their just that filling, and we even had the smallest size!

I think the main attraction of this place is definitely, as other reviewers mentioned, the freshly baked dutch crunch rolls. I have yet to taste ones with so much flavor and the butter softness of these. They were absolutely perfect.

Will be back again on those schools days!

Love me some of that Simon's Special -- pastrami and turkey on dutch crunch bread toasted with yummy melted cheddar. The sandwich is wholesome, so I usually order a junior (half order).

Roxie's is a small convenient store located across the street from Balboa Park. There are two lanes with a good selection of drinks, snacks, candy, and a ton of alcohol behind the counter. I could probably walk through and pick up loads of stuff if my wallet allowed it -- dangerous if you ask me.

For sandwiches, I'd say to call in your oder if you know what you want. Otherwise, the wait time will be about 5-10 minutes depending on the crowd and time of day. Service is friendly. Parking could be a little difficult, but you can try looking a block down or so in the residential area.

Best sandwiches I've had in SF!

This place has been here a long time. I used to be a patron before the eternal lines. It used to be so simple: come in, order your sandwich, pay and leave. It ain't like that anymore.

On our way over, my husband suggested we call in our sandwiches. I kinda shooed him away saying that wasn't necessary. I HATE being wrong.

The guy ringing up the orders is amazing at memorizing who ordered what. If that were me, I'd have complaints up the yin yang.  He was the reason why the line moved quickly.

I had the avocado turkey club. Toasted. Less lettuce, no onions. It was delish. There were small pieces of pancetta in it, which made it even more delectable. Did I mention there were jalepenos in it as well? Super scrumptious.

The first bite and as well as the subsequent bites were probably the best ever I had of a sandwich in a while.  I gotta start coming here on a regular basis again!

I finally tried this place a few weeks ago. Can't believe I didn't know about it before.

It's a pretty good sandwich. I ordered a turkey club and it definitely satisfied my hunger and tasted great in the process.

The menu is all over the place with specials on different walls so it can be very confusing for first time customers, and the line moves like everyone there ordered before. It is a deli, so most people have a go to deli sandwich but it's nice to try to check out their specialty sandwiches. Overall this didn't bother me at all.

The counter is pretty high up so you can barely see them make the sandwich and it can be hard to communicate with the person making yours too. There was a line, but it moved pretty quickly. Anytime you're going somewhere for the first time a line is a good thing. shows you people actually go here and gives you time to check out the menu before you utter those infamous words, "So what would you suggest"

I find the price a bit much. I got a regular which was a good size.  I forget the exact amount but I paid around $12. I don't know their costs but I've had other deli sandwich shops of equal quality for a few dollars less. I'd give them a 4, but for this reason I'm giving them a 3.

Tough to become a regular with the price, but I'd make trips to go there, and eat there if I was already in the area.

So I was thrown off because I was lookin for this place by being given directions by my GPS, and didn't know I was being lead to a small corner store, liquor store, however you wanna call it, haha! But I was super happy to finally find this place with a sandwich shop inside! Cha ching! Found golden sammiches.

Got the Simon's special. And duh, it is a must to get a sammich on dutch crunch. Ordered the mini version and the thing was still monsterous! As a special request I asked, "Would it be weird if I asked for pesto as a spread?" and he gave it to me! Soft, tasty, warm, delicious sandwich if you're just around the Balboa Bart station or don't feel like eating along Ocean Avenue just go to this lil corner store.

It's quite different than most sandwich places such as Little Lucca's and Ike's.  There's a WOW factor, just don't be thrown off that it's in this lil corner store. Plus side you can get any size chips and necessities like mints or floss, alcohol or etc. in there while you're at it! Must've been lucky too bc there was no line, unless it's usually like that.

My weekly go to place with the bf for lunch every weekend and occasionally on weekdays!

Great corner liquor store/deli with very nice people who own the place and make your sandwiches.
I love how you grab your chips and drinks on one side then walk around to order your sandwich, everything is very organized.

Sometimes it gets very busy so people call in to order and just pick up their sandwiches unless you have patience and don't mind waiting awhile.

Their pastrami on dutch crunch is to die for! Add avocado, pick your cheese (mm.. provolone), the works and you're all set.
Their crab sandwich is good as well, many different choices on the menu to customize your sandwich to how you want it.
They also have potato salad and a bunch of other stuff you can order.

The only downside is that sometimes they skimp out on your meat, I like my sandwiches fat, but all the other stuff make up for it. It's really a hit or miss. Sometimes they give you a decent amount, sometimes it's not as much, but all good.

You also have the option to get your sandwich HEATED! Who doesn't love a hot sandwich with melted cheese?

I love how they're also close-by, Keep doing your thing Roxies and don't change cause your sandwiches are freaking great!

The store and the sandwiches are filled to the max.  Before you think about ordering a sandwich, let me tell you how to enter the store.

Enter and walk immediately towards the back of the store, make a right, and another right and your in line to order.  The list of sandwiches are stacked above the top shelf of liquor, which is extremely dusty and totally not 'top shelf'.  Bread options are posted separately to the right above the cashier.

There's lots of bread and meat options here, and like places that move food orders quickly, they expect you to do the same when they ask "who's next?".  So order it with everything, minus the automatic jalapenos, unless you want a visit from a special friend later.

When you get that hearty sandwich urge, come out to the Excelsior and do your soul, not your heart, some good.  And if you feel guilty about the whole thing, you can cross the street and swim some laps at the Balboa Pool!

Love them! Their sandwiches are the best. I usually order a pastrami with provologne and on dutch crunch bread with everything but pickles! Toasted of course! So yummy!

They always got my order correct until they hired this Asian chick who always messed up my order. I ordered 3 sandwiches for my family on the phone and when I came to pick it up, she only made one and it was the wrong size. I ordered again a different time, she messed up my cheese and it tasted different. If it weren't for he messing up my orders and flirting and chasing her co workers, they would have gotten 5 stars!

Doesn't stop me from ordering... I just make sure everything is right before I leave, esp if she is there.

    Sandwiches are huge and tasty.

They were toasting their sandwiches years ago when I was a kid!
Recently tasted their prime rib sandwich and it was delicious. Their chicken club is also a good choice with chicken, cheese (of your choice), avocado and bacon. The dutch crunch bread is super crunchy and soft inside! A Junior is big enough to suffice most appetites, but they have like 3 other sizes!

Oh and the owner is always friendly, funny and pleasant!

With all of the great food, bread, and cold cuts located throughout San Francisco, this place has got to be my all-time favorite sandwich shop. Having grown up here in San Francisco my whole life, I have come to appreciate good food and I am a sucker for a mouth-watering sandwich.

I come here on a Sunday afternoon with my girlfriend as we make the 2 hour drive from out of town. From the outside, you can never tell that this place can deliver amazing sandwiches but once inside the cramped market & deli, I see a row of about 5 guys behind the deli counter taking orders for hungry customers.

Even though we're hungry, we decide on splitting a turkey & avocado sandwich (simply because they're so freaking huge). I order Hawaiian-style kettle chips, she orders nacho cheese chips, and we split a 16oz. Coke to drink all for only about $10.00 (including tax). After a little bit of confusion on the order, we receive two big bags (one has our sandwich and the other has our soda + chips). Keep in mind, there is no indoor or outdoor seating so we decide to walk across the street (where our car is) and eat by the park. Fortunately it was a sunny day which made our lunch more pleasant.

I must say, what had sold me on this sandwich was their bread. They serve this gigantic sandwich on what's called a "dutch crunch roll" which is soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The interior consists of layers of fresh turkey & avocado, onions, pepperoncinis, lettuce, tomato, and melted American cheese. Each bite was amazing as I ate this in less than 5 minutes. Overall, its one of (if not the best) sandwich deli shops I've ever been to and to anyone who hasn't yet been to Roxie Food Center, this place IS legit.

My favorite sandwich in San Francisco. Anything is good as long as you get it on Dutch Crunch bread. For some reason we can't get good Dutch Crunch in LA. Must be a regional thing.

The place is pretty divey - it's basically a liquor store with a sandwich counter. Calling in your order will save you some time. Also, there is no place to sit and eat so be prepared to take it to go or eat it in your car.

A few months ago, I picked up a Turkey on Dutch Crunch before my long lonely drive home to L.A. I swear this sandwich MADE my drive bearable.

I didn't care that crumbs were all over me and my car. I could not stop eating. I got the largest sandwich they offered and ate the entire thing. Savored it as long as I could within the 6-7 hours down. Then wished I ordered another one to save for the next day.

Buttery turkey... Crunchy bread... MMM I AM DEFINITELY GETTING THIS this weekend when I visit. It's the bread.. seriously. so freakin' addicting.

I gotta say though... the first time I had it, I wasn't too impressed. The second time.. I fell in love. So.... Remember guys... give everyone and everything a second chance! You never know....

Their Dutch Crunch bread is by far the BEST I have ever eaten -make sure to get it toasted! It's crispy and fluffy, just perfect. Their sandwiches good too; more traditional and less crazy/"innovative"; a comfort food of sorts. You can customize your sandwiches to your liking. The junior size is already really huge and I can tell their ingredients are fresh.
I got the Simon's Special which is pastrami, turkey, and some yellow cheese (cheddar? not sure) and I've got to say that I prefer the Roxie's special (Ham, Salami, Mortadella) although the Simon's was really good too.
The reasons for 4 stars is their so-so customer service (I mean, what can you expect from a random liquor store), the fact that their shelving is so high (I'm short and couldn't see anyone over it :[), and they skimp on the meat (unacceptable!!).

I first heard about this place through a old coworker of mines when I use to work at the bank. I finally gave it a shot because I was craving a sandwich and it was pretty late and the sandwich shops I wanted to go to was closed. So my boyfriend and I gave Roxie a try. I ordered the tony's tri tip special and my boyfriend ordered the turkey sandwich.

So I'm giving this place a one star because, the tri tip special was not good, the barbecue sauce was over whelming and drenched. I took a few bites and had to trade with my boy friend for the turkey sandwich that didn't taste all that awesome for a sandwich that cost almost $10. Seriously it's overpriced and not delicious at all. I can get a better and delicious sandwich at a lower price. On top of that, after I ate the sandwich, I had a really bad stomach ache. Seriously, what is all the hype about, this isn't the place for me.

Definitely the BEST sandwiches in the WORLD!!!  I grew up on the same block.  I remember me & my cousin at age 5 would always buy candy & stuff from there.
Then we got a taste of their sandwiches!  LEGEN...wait for it...DARY!!  LEGENDARY!  I now live in the East Bay, but every time I visit my parents I make it a POINT to buy a sandwich for lunch or dinner.
Sandwich of choice and what I order ALL the TIME:
Roast Beef on Dutch Crunch, Everything on it EXCEPT for onions! Swiss cheese.  Heated.

The Dutch Crunch is definitely the best tasting bread.

Used to stop by Roxie's all the time back in grade school, they still make some mean ass sandwiches.  Especially the toasted roast beef and pepper jack on dutch crunch w/ everything except mayo..that thing will make yo' toes curl.  And do a little dance.  HELLA good!  Very comparable to Little Lucca, only thing missing is the garlic spread.  Prices here aren't as cheap as Lucca's..roughly $8-9 a sandwich, but the portions are equivalent.  I don't know about other breads, but the dutch crunch rolls aren't as thick at Roxie's, which is a good thing.  Perfect blend w/ the rest of the ingredients.

I'd have to rank this place in my top 3 sandwich spots in SF...they got the selection, value, and taste all down pat.  The appearance of the place is a tad sketchy, but ultimately nothing should deter you from stepping inside.  Do your tummy and taste buds a favor and pick up a damn sammie from Roxie's!

    Simplicity at its FRIGGIN' best!

Apparently, I've been living in a hole for the past 20 some years as last Friday was the FIRST time I've ever tried Roxie's infamous sandwiches after hearing people rave about it for years. Let me preface by saying that I'm not much of a sandwich person and I only eat it out of convenience. However, after trying Roxie's sandwiches, I think I've become a convert.

What I love and appreciated about Roxie's are the ingredients. Unlike some sandwich places that overdo it with too many complex ingredients and abundance of sauces, Roxie just uses simple, high quality ingredients to make deliciously savory sandwiches.

On Friday, 7.8.11, my co-worker and I were in offsite meetings when we decided to come by Roxie's to grab a sandwich before heading over to our next meeting. We came in about 1:15 PM and there was short line that moved relatively quickly. I ordered the Junior Turkey Avocado BLT w/ Pepperjack Cheese ($8.49) and it was ready in about 5 minutes.

JUNIOR TURKEY AVOCADO BLT w/ Pepperjack Cheese on Dutch Crunch (Toasted)
    http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Although the sandwiches come in 3 sizes, the junior size was more than enough to settle my grumbling tummy and send me into a food comatose.

The Dutch Crunch is what MADE the sandwich; it had a fantastically savory crunch with a slight salty parmesan-like crust. The toasting of the sandwich melted the creamy and spicy pepperjack cheese ever so lightly, melding all the ingredients into one cohesive sinfully delicious bundle. The turkey was soft, tender and the avocado added a rich butteryness while the bacon gave a hint of smokiness. The accoutrements of lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles, and jalapenos gave a pop of tangy, sweet and spicy freshness which helped balance the richness. Each bite was sublime and every flavor from the spectrum just BURST in my mouth!

I'm not sure whether I should thank Roxie's or curse at them since eating sandwiches out of "convenience" will now be a thing of the past. So much for starting back on the lo-carb diet...*sigh*

The absoulte best deli sandwiches I have EVER had.  My friends from SF and the Peninsula swear by Roxies and I finally was introduced to the wonders of Roxies.

This little deli / liquor store is tucked away by Balboa Park on San Jose Ave. Definitely no tourists, all locals, and mostly friends people as well.  Saw lots of people stopping by to say hi to the owners and other customers.

As for the main event, THE SANDWICHES, I ordered a regular Roxie Special on toasted dutch crunch.  WOW.  They serve sandwiches in Jr., Regular and I forgot the largest size lol. They pack the meat and cheese on there as well as a variety of veggies and toppings.  They also have a variety of rolls to choose from.

Price is around 8-9 bucks for a regular (which is like a footlong just wayyyy better and more quantity)

I will be back if I am ever craving a premium deli sandwich with all the fixings!

I only go here for the sandwiches, the clerk is very nice. The sandwiches are fresh, warm, and taste so amazing. It's a little cheaper than Ike's and Mr. Pickles, it's also closer to my house so it's more convenient to go here. The wait isn't too bad either, since it's such a small place I feel more patient with them, it definitely doesn't take as long as Ike's. ALL THEIR SANDWICHES ARE WORTH TRYING.

Only thing I wish is for them to expand their deli, decrease their "liquor store" setting, and to make it a little more sanitary. Don't get me wrong, they are clean when it comes to serving you, but the store is just old and could use some renovations.

My husband's childhood stomping grounds, and now, it has become a family staple!  Right when I was given the green light to eat deli meat again (post-pregnancy), I have eaten two Roxie's Specials in the past three days.  I also traded half of my Roxie's special with hubby for half of Pastrami and Avocado.  Of course, all the sandwiches were on dutch crunch bread.  The sandwiches are indeed monstrous, and everyone in the neighborhood is in love with this place!  The sandwiches are good for cravings or to take to say, an Alice Concert to satisfy my out-of-towner friends!  Roxie's will satisfy almost anyone!  While you're at it, why not buy some other items at the store? Thirty-six years and counting, Roxie's continues to be a gem in the neighborhood!

So my first review for Roxie's was before I even knew what I was doing on Yelp. I thought it was time for an update.

Roxie's is STILL the ish. Roast beef on dutch crunch, warmed. Thats my usual and it NEVER gets old. Look out for the specials they come out with cause they DO.NOT.PLAY. They know what's good and will tell you which sandwiches are bomb.

I have to admit. I been checking out other sandwich spots to see what they have to offer. Some are good, some are ok...but Roxie's is a sort of comfort zone. Though its nice to check out the other places I always end up back here.

So Roxie's is pretty much my FAVORITE sandwich place in the world! I mean, I really only always get the same thing each time... Salami on Dutch Crunch with american cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo & jalapenos. But still. I've really never tried anything like it.

    SO freaking delicious.

Oh and it has to be toasted. If you don't get it toasted then you haven't really experienced this magical sandwich at its true potential!

My friend lives literally across the street from Roxie's so every time I'm at her house I try and take advantage. Or sometimes I go to her house just so I can have someone to eat my Roxie's sandwich with. She understands. Oh yeah and as a regular there for most of her life she taught me to always try and phone your order in, or else you'll be standing around for about 15 minutes or so.. Which is not really fun because that place is tiny, so you are kind of forced to wait outside. I mean, unless standing on street corners is your thing then you should be cool.

Get here early!  How early?  Before the sun gets up because the lines literally go around the block all hours of the day.  Any true San Franciscan will tell you this is the spot for sandies.  Anywhere else is a place just because you couldn't get into Roxies.  I like to mix it up with the BBQ beef on soft, the simon's special on dutch, and lately on  Friday's the tuna sandie.  You can call in your orders too but don't make it too close to lunch hour unless you want to watch a line wrap around Santa Ynez and into Balboa Park!  This place is original SF, not frills, no thrills, strictly business.  And don't even think about not having your order ready once you're up or no sandie for you haha.  So go ahead and treat yourself to an SF original, you will not be disappointed.  9/10 customers have been going there since they were kids, including me so their clientele of Roxie faithful loves our little sandwich spot secret.  Start off with a junior, maybe a regular if you dare, the portions are humungoid.  If you're a soldier, order teh supreme and watch the two foot sandwich with your name on it roll out.  You might want to wear sweatpants that day.  Wow, I'm hungry for Roxies already.  I think you'll know where to find me today!

I've been coming to eat at Roxie's since I went to CCSF years ago. Best sandwich joint in S.F period. Ingredients taste fresh and when they warm it up it taste way much better. The only down side to the joint is that it's a bit pricey and the place is very small since it's a liquor store and a sandwich place mixed all together. Overall, great sandwiches.
