Um, I'm pretty sure I know where the Alamo population of 12,800 get the financial backing for the city/town's infrastructure...

Just attended a *beautiful* wedding reception here on a lovely Summer's eve. for an equally *beautiful* couple.  The grounds are pristine and everything about the reception was smooth sailing from the open bar to the food service to the bathroom amenities!  It all flowed so well, thanks in part to the attentive and professional staff here, no doubt (props to everyone involved in the event planning though!).

More details to follow.  Brain is racing trying to find a way to finance a goddaughter's cotillion here...  hey, a girl can dream...

Guess who doned her pink Anne Taylor skirt suit today? You guessed it, me. The only thing that was missing was my diamond tiara.

Mrs. Fancy Skirt herself was at a Lady's Tea Event held here at this private club. My company sponsored a table at this event and I had five of my favorite clients join me.

There was over 80 women at the event and they put us all in a very nice room. It accommodated us very nicely.

As to the service, well was not on top of their game today. It was a tea event so we expected tea to be at our tables. They had little pouches of Bigelow Tea but there was no hot water.

The food was served on one of those silver three teared serving things. Lovely mini scones, muffins and toffee cookies, fruit with creme fresh, and a Asian Chicken or Turkey Wraps. They were lovely.

They finally came around with the tea. The packs of Bigelow Tea were for us to take home. They served Chamomile and English Breakfast. The tea was good with cream and Splenda.

We also begged for a pitcher of water to be left at our table. It was just to much for them to serve tea and water at the same time. They did finally because one of the girls at the table was pregnant and made a point that she needed water.

Guess who also took the center piece home. Yeah, me that's who!

Definitely at the top of my list for golf courses. I came here as a company representative for a charity golf tournament. The course was in absolute perfect condition. There wasn't a ball mark to be found on the green, no patch of dry fairway, not even a small mud puddle or any ground under repair. The trees, the hills, the views, just spectacular.

We had our wedding reception at the Round Hill Country Club in July 2006, and our guests are still talking about how wonderful the setting and food was. The event staff were so easy to work with and were very attentive to every detail. Their parking situation makes parking for guests very easy. One thing that really stuck out to us was how the event coordinator made sure that the servers had a tray full of appetizers set aside for when my husband and I arrived so that we wouldn't miss out on anything by arriving after taking more photos. The venue was just perfect for us!!

I attended a [wedding] reception here this past weekend, and upon arrival, couldn't help but take a moment to admire the setting and monologue to myself... (in the most cliche and ironic manner imaginable...)

"...Ah... so... this is how the other half* lives..."

The furnishings, decor, and club amenities typify the country club ideal; highborn and ostentatious.  Leather, crystal, & brass everywhere, manicured landscapes & golf greens, swimming pool & sauna.  The Clubhouse bar that didn't believe in pitiable second rate spirits; it was strictly top shelf, from what I could gather.

The excellent staff here is disquieting in its caricature-like servitude (or perhaps its just me, in disbelief of being treated so well).  The valet.  The concierge.  The bartenders.  The wait staff.  Everyone I encountered performed their service(s) courteously and eagerly, even for the "very much out of our element" group that I was party to.

The menu was outstanding, each course far exceeding the low expectations I usually reserve for meals served en masse at receptions.

-To begin, the parade of hors d'oeuvres was a tantalizing array;  Prosciutto wrapped melon wedges, seared Ahi atop a cucumber slice with a dollop wasabi sauce, ginger chicken turbans, seared duck breast with tomato relish on a crisp apple wedge, brie-pear-almond in a phyllo pastry.
-The dinner salad, though a little bit too sweet and overdressed, was a delicious mingling of baby greens tossed in a vinaigrette, topped with candied pecans and mandarin oranges.
-The entree that followed was a robust serving of [perfectly rare and tender] roast of beef tenderloin with Bearnaise sauce and asparagus spears atop a hefty bed of buttery rice pilaf.

For a wedding-reception cash bar, the prices at the country club were surprisingly reasonable, with wine and beers costing $6.50 and premium liquor/cocktails going for $8.  Also of note, an assortment of wines could be bought by-the-bottle at the dinner table, ranging from $20 for a Beringer Cabernet to $85 for "something I didn't look at because $20 wine sounded fun".

All in all, this place is a fantastic venue for a reception/gala/banquet event.  The setting is beautiful and semi-secluded, the staff is phenomenal, and the menu has some superb offerings.

If your family legacy/heritage/lineage has allotted you access to this VERY PRIVATE establishment, I highly recommend Round Hill Country Club.

I came here for a friend's wedding in December. Pretty place with  a nice decorated lounge. Beautiful place to get married. Nice reception room that was spacious. Good service, food decent, dance floor was good.

Note: PRIVATE CLUB

Played here last Friday and had a wonderful time.  A truly incredible course winding through the hills and homes of Alamo.  While the course itself offers plenty of incredible views, some of the newer mansions surrounding the fairways are absolutely staggering.

We played the Tournament Tees which are a combination of the blues and blacks.  At a 138 slope rating, it was no walk in the park, but I really feel like I've played harder courses with lower slopes.  There is quite a bit of up and down so don't try walking if you're not in fantastic shape.  There are numerous OB areas thanks to all the homes lining the course, so being anywhere other than the fairway is simply not an option.  There is a fair amount of water so you'll have opportunities to leave behind a couple Pro V-1s.  This is simply NO place for a Beginner, no matter what tees you use.

Cool Factor:  there is a man-made creek that runs all the way down the 18th fairway lined with stones.  It's incredibly relaxing to listen to, although it will catch any errant shot or low running skull.  The 18th is by far my favorite hole with a massively elevated tee box.  Your tee shot just seems to go forever as it floats down to the fairway...assuming you hit the fairway.

The service was great as was the food at the turn and in the clubhouse.  The evening appetizers were a better meal than most restaurants in the Bay Area.  The balls on the range are severely limited flight, which is completely annoying but necessary due to the house at the other end.

Beg, borrow or steal to play here at least once.  99.999999% of people in the world will never be able to afford a membership here, so good luck!

I'm not a member of any country club, and don't know anybody who is that "elite."  However, I've had the pleasure of dining at Roundhill since my workgroup is planning a holiday party here.  In order to select menu items for the party, I participated in a food tasting. We tried two of their salads--nothing special.  One of the salads was overly sweet with its maple gorgonzola dressing and candied pecans.  The main courses were a lot stronger.  The salmon topped with crab salad was perfectly prepared with a melt in your mouth texture.  The chicken breast was also prepared well with stilton and apple compote.  I normally dont' order chicken but since we were tasting for the masses, we went with the safe bet.  Lastly we tasted the beef tenderloin paired with prawns.  The dish was well seasoned and tender.  For dessert we sampled four of their dishes: Cranberry Orange Creme Brulee, Chocolate Torte, Lemon Cream Puff, and Mango Pannacotta.  I enjoyed all of them but the cream puff.  The texture of the pastry was not light enough to be a puff.   The chef came out and introduced himself to us and was willing to work with us to specialize the menu for our party.

I doubt I'll ever become a member of Round Hill or have friends who are members of this establishment.  But if I did, I wouldn't mind enjoying an occasional meal at Round Hill.
