I don't know if they still have any of the 2006 Cabernet Franc in the tasting room, but I bought half a case of it with my club discount when it came out.  It was pretty good then, but we let ours sit until now.

It's drinking really well!  We opened a bottle last night and loved it, so we are having another one tonight.  Just an FYI:  If it's still available, I would go get some!

Roudon-Smith offers some fairly tasty wines: VERY fruit-forward and almost sweet. Overall, the wines were enjoyable but I didn't love them. I think this would be a good stop for those who are in the process of acquiring a taste for wine. The service was excellent. Our pourer was friendly, attentive, and helpful. The tasting room and grounds were comfortable and scenic. You're tasting in a wooded area deep in the mountains. Locals were trickling in periodically and striking up friendly conversation. Very pleasant!

Things Roudon Smith is great for:

-- A great wine club, either "Winery Choice" or "Reds Only" and whatever wines you get in yur shipment, you can buy more of (for a limited time) for 30% off.

-- For playing winery tour guide: a small winery that is not too far off the beaten path, only 5-10 minutes up Bean Creek Road.  It's small so call ahead if you have a big group.

-Special events: sign up for their email list so you can find out about the Valentine's Day Wine and Chocolate Pairing as well as the St Pat's Day Wine and Cheese Pairing and lots of other cool events.

--Oh yeah, the wine itself? Fantastic! Everytime I give a bottle of this wine to someone they always want to know where they can get more.

The wines from Roudon-Smith Winery are absolutely delicious!! And it's a wonderful place to visit. You feel so welcome and it's a great social scene there on Saturdays. Whether a special event is being held, or if you're stopping by on a regular wine tasting Saturday, you'll be glad you did!

In the land of clunky, over-alcohol'ed, raw, young, stringent, too thin/too flabby wines - Roudon-Smith is doing a great job.

They have several versions of each varietal so they can be everything to everybody and it works.  The Russian River Chardonnay was too creamy vanilla for me.  But the Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay was just what mama likes: crisp, lean and fruit forward.

Sit outside at a table under a groves of trees, listen to the wind and let Annette pour some wine for you.  Heaven.

Our first stop on our Passport tour yesterday.  First off, they had the best spread of food out of all the wineries we have visted to date.  They actually hired a real wine/cheese pairing expert and it totally added to the experience.  We tried the following:

'07 Sauvingnon Blanc - YUM!  We brought home a bottle of this one.
'06 Chardonnay from Santa Cruz Mountains - not so much
'06 Chardonnay from Russian River - Good
'07 Syrah Rose - very tart
Claret with Syrah, Zin, and Merlot - too much Merlot for my taste
'05 Duet - smelled like bourbon
'05 Cab - Yum!
