i can't agree with other posters that this place is a trainwreck. there are tons of worse ross stores in the area. my friend worked at the one in almaden, and women had their kids piss in the trash cans there all the time. the ross' that i've been to in east san jose were pretty horrifyingly messy.
this isn't a huge store, so it's hit or miss on anything awesome. if you are in need of a massively padded purple leopard print push-up bra for $5, this is the place to go (i have one!). i've seen tumi bags for $20 and comforters for 25$.
I bought a really nice set of dishes here and usually can find some decent shirts here that fit, more than can be said for many stores.
yes, the lines can be a bitch, but it really depends when you go.
this store is located in the back/middle of westgate. parking is easiest if you go around to the back of the mall, the front can be a bitch.
Place is like an indoor flea market with aisles trashed, one after another.
I thought this place was supposed to be cheap...it wasnt.Go for Burlington if you're in Westgate and seeking clothes. Its cheaper, theres not as many people and its miles cleaner....
This is my FAVORITE Ross. If you think this one is dirty, you haven't seen other Ross. This one not only has great quality of clothing but it also has a variety along with brand names for a decent price. I love shopping at Ross and I've been to various ones. I also love the one located in Campbell. These two stores by far are the cleanest and most organized ones. I've gotten most of my work clothes and play clothes at this store, not to mention the numerous purses, shoes and jewelry. Man, I LOVE this place! Woot Woot!
I wanted a cheap black bag and I got it.
It only took a couple minutes to choose, it was boyfriend approved and everything. Very simple, sleek, Nine West bag which was discounted because I think there was a defect on it with the zipper. Still, a $65 bag discounted to $25? I'll take it, I haven't gone bag shopping in years and the fake counterfeit stuff my mom bought in China doesn't count.
Long and confusing lines, I don't particularly blame the employees for it. The store layout is really odd which makes organizing things seemingly irritable.
I have my bag though, yay!
Come here if you like to stand in lines for a long...I mean longggg time! Service is poor and the people that work here are very unhelpful. Also their stupid alarm detector system doesn't work....I walk past it without buying anything and it goes off....I walk back again and it doesn't. The thing is going off constantly and no one does anything. I witnessed tonight a lady walking out with a friend with a pink bag in her hand. The detector went off but nothing was done. The next thing I see is this same lady realizing she walked out with the pink bag without paying and ran back to the register to give it back. (I think she was legit in forgetting that she had it). But wow.....I bet this store is easy to steal from! (Not that I would or am condoning that you do!)
I always find it to be a somewhat daunting task to go to stores like Ross or Marshall's. You really do have to search to find things that you find somewhat decent looking, and more often than not, you walk out empty-handed. I was on the quest to find a new pair of jeans, and after finding anything within my price range at Nordstrom Rack, decided to test my luck at Ross.
The store seems to be in complete disarray with not much order to it. I beelined for the rack with the jeans on it, and after some rustling found a pair of decent Perry Ellis jeans for under $30. I headed to the fitting rooms, praised Jesus that they looked decent, and went to the cashier to pay for my purchase.
I guess that I just have to approach going to Ross like it's a treasure hunt. However, with patience running thin, I was glad to get out of there, and quickly.
always a good selection of name brands, various sizes. I often find great things here, but sometimes the line is so atrocious and never moves (when the only line open is purchases and returns) you need to look carefully at everything you buy. Sometimes you'll find a rip only when you get home.
I usually hate Ross and these types of stores. I'm impatient and low on luck in this genre. However, one night the shopping gods looked down upon me and smiled. I was looking casually for a special occasion nice dress that was modern to wear dacing. I picked out 5 liked them all and decided to keep 2. I also found shoes that were unmarked with a tag. Turns out they were 17, not bad for shoes but I was hoping for cheaper. One of the drsses I know I will wear soon for my birthday and the other I was thinking of returning. That is until I went dress shopping elsewhere at normal stores and found nothing! Its okay to have a dress on hand you love, right? Here's the best part; I went to Macys in SF and my Jones New York dress was there full price and mine was already hanging in my closet! AWESOME. You know what they say...you can get this, or you can go to ross and get this and this and still have money left over....so true! It doesn't happen all of the time...I went to another Ross and I was back down on my luck...but its like gambling...you're just holding out for that win!!!
I have a lot of friends who find great things at the Ross in Santa Cruz, but they are skinny and wear more than three colors (I only wear black, green and blue). Also, it's Santa Cruz, so they can wear anything and get away with it.
I never have good luck here, unless I manage to come in on the day when they get a TON of Nine West shoes and bags, or if I'm there to snag some good fragrances on the cheap. I got my favourite Burberry perfume (usually $68 for 100mL at Burberry) for only $36.99 ! I usually get it at Nordstrom Rack, but lately they haven't had it. On average, the fragrances you can find here are a little less high-end than at the Rack (no Dior, no Lacoste), but if you've got an old standby you'll be fine. Unfortunately, to get INTO the fragrance case you have to stand in line, wait 20 minutes, have them page someone to come unlock it, then get BACK in line and wait again.
I'd complain about this a lot more if it weren't for Rhonda, the woman who always helps me and doesn't mind at all if you sing that Beach Boys song to her.
I don't like this Ross store at all. They have a good variety of items, but if you find something you like, be prepared to stand in hellish lines to purchase it.
We had one item, were the third person in line and it took 37 minutes to purchase it!
If you MUST make a purchase here, take a friend. Have her stand in line while you shop. By the time you find your items, she might be close to the front of the check-out line.
I can never find anything here, no matter what I'm looking for! I thought that I could possibly find a simple white dress for our flower girl but they had nothing. I know that Ross is Ross, so that speaks enough for itself. But still, this Ross store never has anything there and it is a complete mess. The clothing racks are pretty empty, especially in the kids section.
Make sure to get there well before closing too! They close at 9pm on weeknights and there's always a lady barking at everyone who comes into the store around 8:30pm, telling them that the store is closing soon.
I recommend going to Marshall's or some place else instead with more selection and some sort of organization!
I didn't find this location nearly as bad as others have. The selection is awesome, especially for a location in a mall.
It's kept cleaner than most, though you should still be prepared to fight to get your cart through a couple of the aisles, namely women's shoes.
Last time I was there, there were 5 people working. With 2 check stands open, I flew through the line fairly quickly and only waited two or three minutes.
However, their shopping cart situation was horrible. I couldn't find one near the outside entrance, so I checked the mall-side entrance and couldn't find one there either.
I had to roam around the store for a while before I was able to finally snag one up. The bar that is supposed to keep you from stealing the cart was loose and kept flopping into shelving so I had to hold it while I pushed the cart around. Also, when I went to leave, I had to lug all my items to the car by hand.
I love shop-shop-shoppin at Ross.
However, this store is small, cramped and disappointing! It's always a disorganized mess and often has long lines. That's not to say I haven't found some good buys here (hence the second star), but compared to other Ross locations, this one is sub-par.
This is Ross, so I don't expect much, but this store looks like a tornado blew through it. The cashier - ghetto chick with a tattoo of her boyfriend's name on her arm - gave me attitude when I inquired about their return policy. She spoke slowwwwly - like I don't understand English. One of our items was missing a tag, and we were moved from one side of the checkout line to the next, then back to the original side again, while waiting a near 15 minutes for someone to get a price check. The employees look like they could care less about their job. I just stopped by here because I was in the area, but would not step foot in here again even if I lived right next door.
This Ross is always a disaster. It's huge, and you'd think you'd find tons of good stuff here, but no. You would pretty much have to look at every single thing on the racks to find all the items in your size, because they are completely disorganized. The shoes look like a 3-year-old went through and tossed every pair on the floor. And probably like every other Ross ever, the checkout is impossibly slow.
