    FRENCH-FRIES ARE AWESOME!

Small restraunt, but plenty of seating and the waitresses really hustle.  Kids menu is good and regular menu has a good variety despite being a smaller menu.

Couple of Roslyn beers available 22oz for 5.75 each.... other 12oz beers are 3.75 each

My family ordered two of the kids mac n cheese nuggets which come with fries and a juice box.   I ordered the Bbq pork quesadilla and my wife the portabella mushroom burger.

Food was good and hot, and as said before...fries are AWESOME!

Only minor gripe on the quesadilla was it only came with a little bit of peach-salsa.... I'd much prefer a rich-tomato salsa or a good hot sauce.  They only have Tabasco...

    I give it 4 stars...good food, good price. :)

Great breakfasts, the green eggs and ham are killer. Service sucks, bad. No smiles, slow, couldn't multitask if their lives depended on it. Seemed irritated that they were busy. But.. great food.

Terrible service and unsanitary.   We walked in and waited about 10 minutes before anyone spoke to us.  Should have left at this point, but chalked it up to being busy brunch.  People we being served randomly and not according to when seated.  After about 40 minutes and with almost no one left in restaurant watched waitress put fingers in mouth and wipe nose.  That sealed it, we left!  Drinks were comped to us, but only after we demanded it on our way out.

My husband and I ate at the Roslyn Cafe on a Sunday afternoon about 1:00PM. Beautiful day and the town was quite busy. Drove from Seattle with our destination as Roslyn only because my husband has never been there. After walking all over the town, checking out the Farmer's Market, the local cemetery and other historic sites, we randomly chose the Roslyn Cafe for lunch.

Interior is cute, and on our visit (08/01/2010) I really got no feeling of a Northern Exposure tourist trap. Local art work on the walls and those great horizontal palm fans (playing on the Roslyn Cafe - An Oasis). It was "sit wherever you want" and after picking a table our server was there with menus and getting our drink order.

The menu is not huge but has an assortment of choices. We both had hamburgers which came as ordered and served with Parmesan fries. Those fries are good! Served hot and shoestring cut.  Soda is served by the can so no free refills. I considered having a bottle of the locally brewed beer, but  they are 22oz bottles! I'm not that much of a beer drinker.

I stopped in here on a motorcycle ride. They have good food, but not fantastic. The highlight for us were the Parmesan fries.

They have beer, but only bottles, and only 22oz bottles of the brew from across the street.

Nice clean joint,  but not amazing and a little Northern Exposure nostalgia.

Service was pretty slow for us. We had to wait about 10 minutes before they even acknowledged us and they don't have a big place.

I really love the Roslyn Cafe.  The atmosphere is perfectly lovely--the lighting is absolutely right-on, and I could sit and watch the horizontal fans for hours.  It's like I'm a baby, totally mesmerized by the rhythmic motion, but whatevs.  It makes me happy.

The second consideration is that I can actually eat there.  There are at least a couple of vegetarian options, and I have no doubts that I would be accommodated if I ordered off the menu a bit.  (My super-picky kid always has a grilled cheese, which is not officially offered.)  However, it's hard to move past the grilled portobello sandwich.  Oh my god, yum.  Goat cheese, roasted red peppers, grilled onions, and marinated portobello.  Oh, and greens.  It is a seriously fabulous sammich.

Also, Roslyn beer (Roslyn and Brookside), and good wine.  On our last anniversary, I asked for a wine rec, and nearly wept with joy.  Of course I forgot to write down what it was.  But it was GOOD.

Wait staff is friendly and efficient.  Also funny and kind.  My kid is a talker, and he is always treated well there.

One note on the fries: as the first reviewer noted, they are skinny with parmesan.  At least they were--the last time we were in, they were thicker, and sort of double-fried or something.  Still tasty, but not divine.  I'm hoping it was a fluke..

[Updated: fries back to normal, thank god.]

Burgers, even portobello, were good on home made buns.   Burgers were $10-$12.  Shoestring, Parmesan fries were awesome!  Salads were excellent.  A good, small town cafe.  Open for lunch Wed-Sun.

The food was ok and they did have many vegitarian options. However, all three times I have been there they have had horrible service and were very slow. I ate there with four other people and they messed up every single order and it took an hour and a half to have (cooking and eating time)our meal. Maybe the waitress dosn't like me but she is always very rude when I see her. They were busy when we came in but still... she never smiled and would say nothing when I said "thank you" or anything like that. and every single table was filthy; They cleaned it as people came in. I think they need to hire more staff for busy days.
The decor is very nice and I love the location. It is a nice little place.

It was a looooooong time ago that I ate here.  I remembered that I had a tasty sandwich like a Ruben or club or something.  I was happy with the food and loved the atmosphere.  There was a lot of good conversation and friendly people inside.  If I ever need lunch and am in the area I will go back.

Really great home fries, not oily like many other places.  I also had the ommelette - it was great.  Love this place.

Roslyn is a quaint little town bordering on dilapidated, but if you turn off the main drag between Salmon la Sac and Cle Elum you are in for a little treat.  At the end of Pennsylvania sits the Roslyn Cafe and what a sight for hungry hikers!  Post hike we cruised through the little town hoping to find some nourishment before heading into Cle Elum to pick up groceries for camping that night.  We arrived at an "off time" as it was 4something, but the restaurant was already starting to hop a little and was downright busy by the time we finished our meal.  Grabbed a table outside to enjoy the comfortable weather and were greeted with menus and waters.  Ordered a Roslyn Brewing Company Brookside, which is quite a tasty pale ale.  Nice to sip a local brew and stare at where it's made right across the street.  Menu offered lots of great choices but we narrowed it down to the BBQ pork sandwich with the Parmesan fries and the Buffalo Chicken salad.  Both meals were great, but the BBQ pork was absolutely incredible.  The pork was slow cooked to perfection and the cole-slaw which topped it was tangy without being overpowering.  The fries were crispy and flavored nicely with fresh Parmesan, I couldn't stop picking them off of JP's plate.

We have been spending a lot of time east of the mountains and I am certain we will be back here.  I never watched Northern Exposure growing up, but it was pretty cool to dine at a place who's sign was the opening shot of the show and the fact that they serve great food in a casual environment made it all the better.  Thanks Roslyn Cafe for satisfying my post-hike hunger!

Living locally, I've eaten here many times over the last several years and always walk away happy! It's a great place to take friends and family when they come to visit. Service has usually been very good, even when the place is packed. Love watching the fans on the wall.... they're fun to watch no matter how many times you go in!
