On our return trip to Tahoe, my boyfriend and I made our trek back to Rosie's.  I had the french toast which I had been craving since the first time I went there and it was delicious, 3 humongous pieces of cinnamon raision bread, it could have only been better if there was some sausage to accompany the french bread and maybe a bit more syrup (although some people think I use syrup to the excess like crack).

My boyfriend had the Joe's scramble.  Just a forewarning to people with sensitive stomachs, my boyfriend decided to indulge in both his breakfast and a piece of my french toast, which ended up being a bad concoction, b/c he had the worst gas after breakfast, so bad that I refused to go back to Rosie's the next day.  Word to the wise, keep your breakfast foods separate.

lmao.  avoid.
at...
all...
cost.
Parking is bad, even compared to airport standards.
I don't care to remember all that everyone else at my table ordered during this one and only experience.  The server was nice, smiled a lot, and really tried to make this an enjoyable experience, but mehhhh.
I ordered a meatball sandwich & salad w/ red wine vinaigrette and fries -  for $10.95... Must have been a fresh batch of fries, cuz these  seemed the best tasting on this trip.  My GF ordered a grilled chicken sandwich... overdone, dry, and nothing close to what she saw on the menu.  Either a new chef team or sandwiches haven't been updated on the menu.  Refreshing bottomless glass of lemonade - was I being bribed by the server?  lol
The decor seems contrived and I would sure hate to dust this crap. I decided  its just there to distract you from the food and menu.  go ahead, look all you want & be distracted, I guess...
Clean bathrooms.  very clean. compared to out back in the woods.  ok.  kidding about that one.  they are clean, but I'll go old school next time & order a bloody mary or something straight-up to initiate a buzz.

I've only been here for breakfast and it was pretty solid. I just about fell off my chair laughing after I read the yelper from Oakland's scathing review. She's from Oakland . . . strike one. She ordered meatloaf . . . strike two. She ordered Chicken fried steak . . . strike three. Time to take a mini-van ride down to the local Denny's or Sizzler where she might feel at home with the rest of the white trash.

This place has very solid breakfast. No Complaints at all. Good service, cute little waitress, a good value. A great place for an egg white omelet after you hit up Asante Fitness across the street in the morning.

Loved watching the jacked up owner in there in the morning shouting orders at his staff while wearing a VERY Vegas/Reno style outfit: fake tan, nike shorts, golds gym tank, and the gold chain necklace . . . absolutely priceless.

I will definately return here for a decent meal and some laughs the morning after I tear up Ceasers and Horizon like Ben Roethlisberger on a little blond parked behind the Harrahs concierge desk.

I had a craving for food at about 9p in Tahoe and ended up wandering in here to take care of it. With all the bikes and other random things on the walls and ceiling, it's definitely a paradise for anyone with ADHD, like me (ooooh look, shiny!).

The service was quick and our waiter was a little "out there" but took care of us well.

We ordered a small pizza and it was just enough for two people to share. This was the perfect stop to fill my evening hunger.

Two things about Rosie's cannot be topped.......view and atmosphere.  They are simply unbeatable.

Sure, parking is a problem.  But I don't know a place in Tahoe City that doesn't have a parking problem.

The menu is expansive, service very competent, and the food good.

Give it a shot, especially with out-of-towners during the summer.

Sit at the bar at Rosie's if you are going solo or with another adult. Have a bloody Mary or a beer, hang out, and chat with the locals. Dennis is a great bartender and you will have your food order taken immediately and efficiently. He'll even point you to the best selections. Also, this place is ALWAYS open, even in the worst of snowstorms and on holidays.

It was lunch and my wife and I were looking to get some food before leaving Tahoe.  We had always seen this place before and decided to finally give it a try.  Upon walking in the hostess didn't seem particularly happy to seat us but I was willing to overlook that.  Their menu reminds me of Cheesecake Factory's menu, ads on one side and the menu on the other.  I decided to try the fried chicken and when it finally came was disappointed by it.  The chicken was not crisp at all, seemed more like frozen chicken that was reheated improperly.  My wife's burger was better but ultimately just a standard burger that's hard to mess up.  I was quite disappointed by my experience, but maybe next time I'll try some of the brunch items as they did look much better.

Hit this on a fluke because we weren't sure where else to go. The food was fine, good portions and felt satisfied but in no way wowed. The atmosphere was eclectic....it's hard to go wrong when you have a view of the lake.
If we ever go here again I think we may just hit the bar...it looked like a good time over there and the appetizers looked pretty good.

Tried to go to Fat Cat but it was closed for renovation.  We started to walk back to the car to re-group, saw Rosie's a few shops down the street and decided to give it a try.  What a gem!

Our order included Quesadilla (8.99), Fried Green Beans (9.49), Fish Tacos (9.99), and Philly Cheese Steak (10.59)

First, it's important to note that the menu made us nervous - they have a boat-load of different dishes.  A place that does everything often does nothing well.  In fact, we view it an outright gamble to try fish tacos at a place that serves so many different types of food (we presume that a "serves everything restaurant" can't possibly go through fresh fish fast enough to keep it fresh).  Since it was a Tuesday, and many folks get their new supply of fish on Mondays, we rolled the dice.  Score!  The fish was super fresh!  What a pleasant surprise!

Next the Philly Cheese Steak.  In general, Philly Cheese Steaks are usually a cardiac arrest on a plate -- dripping with grease and cheese.  This one, however, had almost no extra grease (arteries and wife breathing sigh of relief).  No grease yet it was flavorful and cheesy with loads of peppers and onions.

Our kids loved the Quesadilla and the Fried Green Beans.  And you know that they are kid-friendly when they serve Milk in covered paper coffee cups with straws that are trimmed to kid size.

Rosie's is now on our North Tahoe list and we are coming back!

Visiting Rosie's Cafe on Memorial Day weekend, the place was packed.  I enjoyed the decorations on the wall.  We sat next to a toboggan, an autographed poster of Arnold Schwarzenegger, and several old bicycles.  Because it was packed, the servers were a bit frazzled, but when they were present, they were courteous and did their best to take care of our needs.  When someone asked for a bit of brown sugar, we ended up with three small bowls of the stuff.  Maybe not the best communication on their part, but they took care of our needs.

Having so many choices, the menu was a little daunting, but I was able to find an egg dish that both tasted delicious and clogged my arteries for many days after.  Everyone else at the table was satisfied with their dishes, so I have only good things to say about the food.  The prices were on the high side, but I would expect that when dining in a place that caters to visitors in the Tahoe area.

A bunch of us went here the morning after a great fun day at Squaw Valley.
I liked the decor. Old school bicycles and skis. We had to wait like 20 minutes cuz we had a big party (11). The food was good. Everyone went for the omelets. The waitress who helped us was good. The minus is that they charged for salsa. This place is cozy with good breakfast food. I'd come here again if I was in town.

Came back for dinner this evening - I had the Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Tasty meal!

I had six other dining companions - they ordered two kinds of pizza, a cup of chili, a Burrito without the tortilla, Buffalo wings, and a Taco salad. Everyone reported that their meal was good.

The first time I came to Rosie's there were 5 of us.  Everyone seemed to enjoy their breakfasts.  I had a vegetarian sandwich.  It was pretty good.  The decor is busy and interesting to look at and the service is usually nice.  The second time I came I had a meatloaf meal and the food was awful.  The mashed potatoes were doused with white pepper (which I hate!!!) and it tasted like manure.  I literally had to keep eating it to figure out what it tasted like and I ended up with manure.  My sister had fried chicken with rice which was like two of the tiniest chicken thighs with a tiny bowl of rice for $10.  COME ON.

Food-wise I would never come here again.  It's mediocre and it's way too pricey for what you get.  But the service is almost always nice.  It's a shame I would never come here again.

I went there a few days ago and frankly I wasn't impressed. After asking around about where to eat this place was recommended by a few locals. Other then the great location and creative decor this place was lacking in the food department--plus it was over priced. However, to be fair, my sis and I only got the garden burger and house salad so maybe breakfast or other meals are better.

Ho-rendous. We came on a Saturday morning and were among the first seated. The place was pretty quiet for 15 minutes until some other groups arrived... And somehow, all of the new arrivals got their orders taken first. Oh wait, that's because my table (right in the front by the cash register) was FORGOTTEN about. We flagged down our flakey waiter who was surprised to hear our order hadn't been taken (really?). And waited another 20 minutes to be served cold, nasty food by the waitress Flaky Waiter had been busy flirting with (probably because he was too chicken to come over again... don't be messing with hungry people!). The pancakes were undercooked, the eggs were stiff & cold, and the "blueberries" (I think that's what they were) on the granola were shriveled, purple, and pretty much tasteless.
After eating only half of our order we asked for the check and THAT'S when F.W. apologized for the snafu (nope, he didn't check on us mid-meal to see if everything was ok, nor did he apologize prior to handing us the check when we might be calculating his tip).
The only good things to say: the yogurt served with the granola was tasty and all the cute crap on the walls and ceiling gave us somethig to look at while Flaky Waiter had his head up his butt.
I think this might be the first time I've ever not left a tip.

Food here is just like diner food with a bit of international fusion mixed in.  One can get the regular American diner food such as burgers, sandwiches, pancakes, but also taco and pot stickers!  The food quality and price are both decent compared to others in Lake Tahoe area.

If you are tired of "lake front" restaurants charging ridiculous prices for mediocre food, go to Rosie's and get mediocre food at reasonable prices.

But I have to say the Buffalo wings we had at Rose's are very good; not too dry with excellent sauce.  They might be the best Buffalo wings I have had at any restaurants.

Rosie's serves just about everything imaginable.  You want pizza?  Sure.  Hamburger? Fine.  Pot pie?  Of course.  Pot stickers?!?  You betcha!  I can't imagine they're using The Joy of Cooking in the kitchen, and it all comes out a bit "eh."  I had the turkey dinner, which worked just fine for what I was craving at the moment.  The asparagus was horribly over-buttered, and the gravy was a thick gloppy mess.  But the turkey itself hit the spot.  Tip: even if you're not a health food freak, you'll do well to order your salad dressing, gravy, etc. on the side.

I was really disappointed in Rosie's.

We were itching for a good breakfast and instead received cold, unappetizing food.

I ordered the avocado eggs benedict and it came to the table cold and the eggs were overcooked so the yolks were solid. Rule number one with eggs benedict is runny yolks. Come on!

I'm giving this place two stars only because the guacamole and salsa were both homemade and really tasty.

Granted it was the morning after the fourth of July.  Waited 20 minutes for a seat.  Server doesn't show up for 10 minutes.  No waters, nothing.  We finally flag down our server and order.  I ordered the breakfast burrito, no bacon add tofu.  Friends got the Eggs New Orleans (Crab Cakes, poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce?) and Joe's Scramble.  She took off without asking me what i'd like to drink.  Food comes fairly quickly for how busy it was.  My burrito was disgusting.  It didn't have beans as stated in the menu.  All it had was eggs and green onions inside, a huge glob of sour cream on top with 5 pieces of mealy pink tomato on top.  There was this weird juice all over my plate.  Nobody liked their food.  The crab cakes smelled bad and my friend stated that the eggs were completely overcooked.  Other friend said nothing but only ate 1/4 of her food.  $37.00  There was food encrusted on our silverware.  The service, was friendly but frazzled.  I got sick afterwards and made 4 pit stops on the 2.5 hour drive home.

I heart Rosie's Cafe.  It's my #1 casual dining destination each time I visit North Shore--we can't visit without ordering at least 1-2 loaves of their fabulous zuchinni bread to-go!!

It can be crowded at times, so come with a laid-back attitude and you'll be happy.

My most recent visit was 4/27/09, the day after my birthday.  We arrived for an early dinner and sat by the roaring fire.  My sis & I split the chicken pot pie, which was honestly the BEST I've ever had.  It was very creamy without being heavy, and the crust was light and crisp--I wish I'd had it all to myself!!  My mom had the yankee pot roast, which was superb!!  It came with mashed potatoes, but only 4 spears of asperagus which was kind of a bummer.  Her meal was cooked to perfection and the meat melted in my mouth.  My son had the kids cheese pizza which is always a favorite.

As usual, we were too full for dessert, but we ordered 3 loaves of the zuchinni bread to-go and have been enjoying it ever since!!

I've had their cobb salad, burgers, mozz. sticks, nachos, and fries before too--they were all very good.

The ONLY drawback I've come across are the bathrooms--there is no better word to describe them than DISGUSTING and I'm suprised no one else has mentioned them in their reviews.  I've eaten there at least a dozen times over the last 6 years and they haven't gotten any better.  I consider them to be dive-bar gross--I don't know how the employees put up with them.

Oh thank you Rosie's, your Red Tale "Lager" and 100-proof drinks keep us so warm yet somehow sufficiently entertained by the "story of Rosie's" (on every menu).

I would take away a star for loving the Governator so much (check the sales tax reference or the photo at the door) but I just can't do it.

btw, the Buffalo Wings are insane (as is the Artichoke).

Try and challenge-in on the air hockey (good luck actually beating the 12-year-old girls squatting on the table)....granted, I was drunk, but those kids are vicious.
They aim for the corner you've got your beer on so you're forced to make a split second decision, miss the puck or spill your precious lager.

Such evil children....I can't imagine where the get all this hostility?

Anyway...great place.  Stay late (the kids leave) and once you've had one too many, walk down the street and climb a drainpipe up to the hot tub with a view of the lake.

The bartender is awesome! We sat at the bar for breakfast and decided to have bloody mary's, so the bartender asks me if I want to try it with tequila. WELL BLOODY MARY HELL...yes I'd love to try it with tequila (bloody maria is what that's called FYI). It was delicioso!

Then we had our usual breakfast of eggs either scrambled or omeletted but in the course of eating our breakfast I discussed a rum drink with the bartender which led to him handing me a small shot of fantastic rum! Thank you sir!

Fast Forward ten minutes...booze hound down the bar calls for tequila shots all 'round! I figured hey I'm in Tahoe, I'm on mini vacaycay, and I've already had 1.5 drinks so I take the shot! Let's just say I walked out of there very happy...happy with breakfast, happy with cocktails and happy with Sr. Wong.

I have driven past this place a hundred times and finally this past weekend went here for breakfast. It was a beautiful summer Lake tahoe morning, and we couldn't eat outside! WTF???(minus 1 star)
But other than that the decour inside is totally Tahoe, old skiis on wall a head of a moose and some deer, and other random stuff hang from the ceiling.

Our server was great, they had fresh squeezed orange juice and again my "western omlette" which was a Denver omlette I ordered as a scramble, was delicious, the green bell peppers were sauteed perfectly! They also had sourdough toast! I loved it.

My friend had the Swedish oatmeal pancakes, and you know anything from Sweden is good!

Came here with the gf's company ski trip for dinner with a large party.  Theywere able to easily accommodate us (we were about 20-30) in the upstairs "fun room".  The menu has a LOT of selections, but most of us played it safe and had pretty standard diner fare.

I went with some bbq pork spareribs and they looked a little dry, but were surprisingly tender with the meat falling off the bone.  The gf had the portobello ravioli and it was actually pretty decent too.  The portions were good sized and the prices pretty reasonable.  The upstairs fun room had a bunch of video games and an air hockey table so it did get noisy, but it's probably great if you have kids.

This won't wow you, but it also won't break the bank and seems pretty convenient for dinner.  Also, saw a line outside for brunch when I drove by the next day.

Fun atmosphere - it really feels you're in a cozy and warm mountain cabin in the middle of the woods. It was great to find them still serving dinner at 8:30pm.

I had the fish and chips. They weren't very good, but instead kind of bland and overpriced.

My boyfriend liked his meat and potatoes something or other, but I can't remember exactly what he ordered and he never complains as long as there is meat and potatoes.

I'd come back but probably just for beer.

So you're in the middle of mountain town no where probably skiing or on some other adventure. For what it was, I really liked this place. The food was good and delivered fast. We were seated immediately. The server was obviously an over-the-hill snow surfer but very polite. The other people in my group had a couple complaints but they are really high maintenance.

I really wanted the chocolate milk shake a lot of people seemed to be getting but we didn't have time. I was so jealous of the little girl at the other table.

OK, well its middle of the summer and a weekend. We were looking for a great breakfast place as we got to stay the night in Tahoe City courtesey of a client. OMG, trying to find parking in downtown Tahoe City is a mess. Ok found parking and the place is packed, like a 1 hr wait. OK the wait didn't end up being an hour, more like 35 minutes. THe service was fine as was our server (heh, heh), but the food was just plain and not really tasty. I was hoping for a great breakfast but it was below average. Eggs were all over cooked but I just didn't feel like sending them back. Pass on this place if you come in the summer on a weekend, on second thought, just take a pass as the food is nothing special. We will try Fire Sign Cafe just down the road tommorrow.

Yeah... Rosie's Cafe is the place to go to breakfast when in Tahoe!  There'll usually be some wait, because the place is popular.  Just relax outside and look at the lake while you wait.

Once you get inside, you're going to get a drink.   Of course, you can grab some coffee, but you absolutely have got to try their Absolut Peppar Bloody Mary!  It totally rocks!   In fact, I know you're going to enjoy it so much, you're going to order, like... three; a perfect way to start the day.

The breakfast food is decent.  I don't recall any one item that blew my socks off.  I think I had some kind of chorizo omelette which was quite tasty.   I might have tried their eggs benedict here once too, but pretty much anything you get will be good, albeit not great.

I just happened to find this place as I was looking for a bar at 4:00. Lucky for me this was the place to drink. It seemed like a bunch of locals that had beat me to the afternoon drinking. The bartender was very friendly which is always a plus.
Ordered the onion strings and artichoke which was soooooo good. Washed it down with a beer and was good to go. Think I would have stayed longer if I was sitting at the bar as it looked pretty fun and social but it was pretty packed.
I'd go back just for the appetizers!

I've been eating at Rosie's for as long as I can remember, and their food, drinks, and desserts are excellent. We mostly go for brunch, but I've had other meals there as well and have never been disappointed.
They have great service and a comfortable, casual atmosphere. And when the game (any sports event) is on, it's ON.

My absolute favorite, that I have NEVER had anywhere else, is their White Chocolate Strawberry Cheesecake- it has chunks ofr strawberries in it, and Oreo cookie crust, and is topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce. I just wish they delivered to Chicago!

Interesting decor. (I might have developed ADD from all the knickknacks and goings-on.) Perhaps too kid-friendly. They had an arcade and kiddy rides upstairs. Decent food (yummy portabella), but don't get the artichoke soup. Yuck.

I only knew one thing when I stepped into this place for dinner - I wanted mac & cheese.

But before we get to that...my sister and I spotted this place as our dinner spot earlier in the day when we saw the size of the queue for lunch.  Note to self - come back early for dinner.

We split the crab cake starter.  Too spicy for the sister (but she's weird).  Not the best crab cake I've ever had, but then again, we were in Tahoe City.  We each had a salad as we were trying to be good.  The cobb salad was huge and very good good.  I had the pear and walnut salad - just about perfect.  Just the right amount of dressing.  My only complaint was that there was too much "stuff" - too many walnuts, too much cheese.  But those are very good problems to have, yes?

And the mac & cheese.  It's on the kids' menu.  We're not under 10 but we got it anyways.  We shared it and it made us both really happy.  It wasn't spectacular but fed the craving.

I was forced to have dessert.  My sister had the apple pie (which she inhaled) and I had the key lime pie, which came with crust-like buttered graham cracker stuff all over the plate.  This is a girl who loves crust so I was well happy.

When I am on this side of Tahoe, Rosie's is the place to grab breakfast before hitting the slopes or the place to grab a burger and beer afterwards.

4 Stars cause I keep coming back, but to be fair, I should really explore some more places on this side of the lake.

I have never had a bad experience, never been disappointed in the food - but never been "wowwed" either. Just a friendly place with decent food.

Lines can be long during peak seasons, but that to be expected isn't it!
