Definitely the nicer of the two public beaches in HP (It's between this and Park Avenue... for people, at least! The dogs have got Moraine). Always clean, sandy (unlike Park Ave, really), they've got lifeguards on duty, and I've never gone without a stranger striking up a friendly conversation with me.
There are picnic tables, benches, and charcoal grills available to anyone who wants them, as well as tents to provide some shade on the really hot days.
It does close at dusk, though, so don't head there too late in the afternoon!
