The Rose Guy is a hallmark of my high school career.

When the student council ran out of roses for a Valentine's program, the Rose Guy was there when we needed him.

He also provided drugs for about 85% of my high school. When the rock is out, the Rose Guy is one popular dude.

Not nearly as great as Baton Bob or Bicycle Shorts Man, Roses Guy is in my 'hood so I still have to show him some love.

Just about every day you can find this guy at the corner of West Paces Ferry and Northside Drive. He faces looking down West Paces toward the Buckhead area. He has buckets of roses - hence his name. $15.00 for a dozen colored or $10.00 for a dozen red, all wrapped up in tissue paper like what you would get at the grocery store.

He stands on his little corner next to the gas station and when not being distracted by a customer, he points to the traffic lights and waves you through the intersection. He wears neon shorts with cool white gym socks and always a baseball hat....I don't think I've ever seen him without his hat. He even sits out there sometimes when it rains. When it's hot, he sits under his patio umbrella. His hours are never standard - sometimes he's out there early in the morning, but usually he is out there from around lunch until late late at night. If you've been out drinking and you make a drunk dial and are headed over in the area for a booty call, you can get a dozen roses here to make yourself seem thoughtful - because sometimes he's out there until around 3 in the morning. Seriously, I know girls this has happened to.

Sometimes you can catch him walking across the crosswalks when the lights aren't in his favor. Makes you wonder if he has a death wish. Or if he's on drugs....and apparently it's both or at least the latter according to Kathleen's review. Are the roses just a cover??? I think you can buy just roses but maybe there are bouquets that have MORE than just roses in that tissue paper?

Either way, I see this guy every single day on my way home and he always makes me laugh. You want to know the ONE day I didn't see him out there on my way home from work? VALENTINE'S DAY 2007. Go figure. You think that would be his busiest day? Or maybe Mrs. Roses Guy demanded he take her out to dinner that night?

We must have gone to the same high school.  I can remember that guy being there for the 15 years I went to school there.   How old is he!

Someone wrote and article about him for our HS Newspaper.  I wish I remembered anything it said!  I guess this doesn't really count as a review since I have never actually done business with him except that I can vouch that he has been running his business for a LONG ass time.

This guy is incredible.

You know you've seen him if you've ever driven through this intersection at a decent hour. This guy has set up camp with his buckets of blooms and trusty umbrella/sandwich board combination for well over a decade. He always smiles and waves if you acknowledge him, and his roses are about the same price as a dozen from Kroger.

The part I love about him the most is how he claimed a chunk of a public street as his own personal commercial space. If only I could find an equally clever way to sidestep paying rent...

Kind of inspiring to see a local Atlantan so industrious.
