I have stayed in this hotel several times over the last few years, both when it was the Sofitel and then the Rosemont Hotel O'Hare. I have never had a negative experience in the hotel, nor did I find any major differences in quality when it changed ownership. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating, food at Colette is good (a little expensive, but portions are large I didn't need to eat for a while after), and the rooms are very comfortable and clean.

For those looking to use the gym: I have always found it very small, overly warm, and without much equipment. Usually I am not able to use the gym very much if at all due to my schedule, so it isn't a big deal for me.

The only real disappointment was the lack of free French-pressed coffee the Sofitel provided in the morning; however the newly comped parking forgives all!

So my original pics showing the bathing suit bottom that the hotel staff tried on while i wasn't in the room were taken down by Yelp HQ.  My links now go to pics that the hotel put up so I'll be removing them.

Between the time I posted my review and the pics being taken down, I have not heard about any actions that were taken by the hotel.  I'm really disappointed because one of their managers told me they were looking into the matter and would let me know.

Instead, it seems all they've done is complain to HQ to have my photos removed.  I'm surprised my review wasn't taken down although I'm sure they probably tried.

So, one terrible experience at this hotel plus getting the silent treatment after it's been brought to their attention equals DOUBLE FAIL in my book.

Was under a lot of renovation outside as far as connectivity with the sky bridge to the other hotels and convention center, but overall, still a very nice hotel.  I'm not a really big fan of the decor since I prefer more contemporary designs, but the room was cozy.  View was nice, and can see the planes landing at O'hare.

Parking is a bit weird to find, but there's a lot of available spots.

The thing that won me over though was how comfortable the beds were!  MOST COMFY BED EVER!  First time I've been to a hotel room where I just wanted to stay in bed.

If I'm in Chicago again, I'd definitely go back here just because of heavenly the bed felt to sleep in... I was afraid I was going to oversleep.

We booked our 5 day stay through Hotwire, and thought we were going to be staying at the Sofitel - which changed names 3 days before we arrived.  Our check in went smoothly, the girl was very helpful and pleasant.  Our room was adequate, but not what I would expect for a 4-star hotel.  The soaps etc were a nice touch, but again have had better at the Embassy Suites.  Not having sheets on the bed was a definite weird thing - but was told thats what they do in France...hmmmmm (don't remember that).  Anyways, room service was attrociously high....$8 for a pot of coffee, $20 for breakfast...we ended up going to Pancakes Eggcetera instead.   Our bathtub backed up, and the $18 daily parking fee was ridiculous.....that far out of the city???

Wowee could this place use a face lift.  It's attached to the convention center, but I don't get the vibe that the staff are that used to dealing with meetings.  Well, in all fairness we do have very high standards and our CSM is a little forgetful with the follow up, so maybe that's not entirely fair.  Most of the staff we've dealt with has been great.
I had no idea the Sofitel properties were so French (bon jour and bon sois when they answer the phone, and croque monsieurs on the room service menu!).  I've only ever been to our local one in the SF Bay Area once - my junior prom dinner in fact.
I'll update as things go, but so far I'm pretty underwhelmed and wishing I was at the Westin across the road.

Pros:
the comfy beds and pillows
nice big fluffy towels
they have a very lovely small function space

Cons:
the food
the waste - they have no conservation here; soap used once is thrown away and replaced with a brand new plastic sealed bar, sheets and towels are changed every day, leftover or extra food cannot be served to staff, donated or composted.
the keys - they have tried to tell us that we are the only group to ever have problems with our keys not working, but I can't even imagine how that's possible.  In two days, our keys have not worked a grand total of 8 times.  That's 8 extra trips back down to the front desk where the smiling staff tell us it shouldn't be a problem now, "And if it is, you can just come on back down."  Once wasn't a problem, and I didn't mind just going back down.  Eight times is absolutely ridiculous.

I held my wedding reception at the Sofitel Hotel O'Hare and I could not have been any happier with their service.

First, Barbara, the wedding coordinator was amazing. Such a wonderful person, she has been working here for many years and she knows her stuff. She makes us crazy brides calm and at ease. She was so great during all the planning and very attentive. On the big day, when I arrived to the Reception she showed me the room and even bustled my dress (we were running very late). She handed us off to the banquet manager and our night was perfect, they literally did not miss a beat. Simply Amazing!

When you arrive at this hotel, you walk in to a beautiful lobby with a bar area straight ahead of you that their tables sort of spill out to the main lobby area. It is very open and their drinks are quite tasty.

We held our wedding reception to the right in the grand ballroom. We had a big area for cocktail hour with a bar and area for name tags and we had high boy tables set up and even some other tables and chairs for some to sit and enjoy. Many passed appetizers that were out of this world. Note to brides: Ask ahead of time to get a sample brought directly to you and your new hubby otherwise you might miss them with all the "hellos" you will be doing to your guests.

Now, I don't know if any of you have ever attended a wedding at the Sofitel, but they have a signature opening to the reception called the Champagne parade. It really gets things going and your guests in the mood!

The food was amazing, and I think our guests would agree! The staff was on top of things and the hotel rooms were clean and nice. I especially loved the down comforter beds!

Anyone who is interested in this hotel for a reception, I definitely suggest checking this hotel out, you will not be disappointed. This was the best day of my life and I am thrilled with how well it went at the hotel.

I held a work meeting for ~80 people at this hotel, and the level of detail provided by the staff was amazing.  Very professional, above average service.  All the food we had catered was amazing!  We were treated to lunch at Chez Collette and that too, was delicious.

Now, the only reason I am giving you 4 stars is those rooms.  They are a bit dowdy, and need a refresh.  Also, need new televisions.  If this was done, 5 stars.

I've been at this hotel three times, once for a new year's party themed in the french can-can tradition, and twice for one of my company's annual mini-conferences. On this last visit in June '08 I experienced some of the aging of the hotel such as gathered carpeting in the hallways, humidity and dampness throughout the hotel, and less than stellar menu items available to our event.

On my first evening I was almost shuffled out of my room so that my housekeeper could turn down the bed for me. They might want to be a little less overeager and allow the guest the choice. Then surprisingly, there was no more turn down service for the remainder of my three night stay.

There should also be some patrolling of the hallways at the conference center portion, because we had a family with two very small but very vocal children trapseizing for some reason, up and down several times in the hallway during one of our general sessions, irking our staff's nerves.

I was far more impressed on my first two visits, but I'm still willing to give these guys a chance because the banquet and event staff is spectacular, attentive, and very helpful.

Also, the soundproofing is astounding. I took two breaks and sat outside in the balmy weather reading a favorite book and started to get annoyed at the planes landing at nearby O'Hare...meanwhile indoors I hadn't even noticed that airplanes were landing nearby!

Could do with a wee bit of a revamp. Though the beds are very nice. One of the more amazing features is the products that emerge from the amazing on-site bakery --  baguette, rolls, petit feurs, madeleines that melt in your mouth....mmmm!

We had to attend a show at the Donald Stevens Convention Center. Whenever we can, we travel with our 13 year old dog, but it's always difficult to find a decent pet-friendly hotel that will not charge an arm and a leg. The Sofitel charges a flat rate of $25 per stay if your dog is over 25 lbs. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were spacious, clean, had extremely comfortable beds and great LG flat screen tvs.

You can't get any closer to the convention center than the Sofitel and the "L" (train) was about two-three blocks up the street, which I took to Wicker Park while my husband was busy (and later both took to downtown Chicago). Very convenient for our stay and cost much less than hotels downtown. We also ate dinner at their restaurant Colette - it was good, but nothing stood out.

I gave them 4 stars because the ice and soda machines on our floor were broken, and parking was a bit much, but my guess is every other hotel in the area charges $16 or more a night for parking also. It's not the most convenient for downtown, but you'll have to pay a lot for that.

We had our son's christening party (for lack of a better word) when he was 6 weeks old, at the Sofitel. The banquet manager handled everything very well. the food was good and a good time was had by all. Although the lobby has a nice French theme to it, the meeting rooms are just 4 walls and could be in any hotel in town.

NOTE: this review was written while this was a Hotel Sofitel. It appears to now be called the Rosemont Hotel O'Hare, which I assume means that it has changed ownership.

This was an absolutely brilliant place considering the price (not being a convention weekend probably had something to do with the price being so low).  It was cheaper than all the other decent airport hotels, and much cheaper than staying downtown.

=Accommodations=
Pretty good.  The beds were standard and decent, the bathroom was all done in stone and very nice (although I prefer glass shower doors to curtains), and I have always thought the toiletries at sofitel were nice.  The room had a big flashy new-looking flatscreen TV mounted on a stand.  This would have been great if there were any good movies on TV.  It came with an input receiver that included a VGA-in jack, but the front desk lacked the cables that would have let me hook up my laptop to watch a movie.  Oh well.

The downstairs bathroom has a free shoe-polishing machine with black and clear polish.  I didn't have very fancy shoes, but that still tickled my fancy and now my loafers are very shiny.

=Food=
We had room service, and that was a little bit underwhelming.  This was my first time ordering room service.  I suppose room service is never as good as eating in the hotel restaurant just because it's inevitably going to lose some of its heat, but all of our food was consistently oversalted.  It was pretty pricey too, with $2 + 20% added on to the prices you would expect of a fine restaurant

The next morning, we ate in the hotel restaurant itself, and the food was definitely redeemed.  The place was nearly empty, but the food was simply marvelous.  I got the trio of sliders, which were the best damn sliders I've ever had, and I've had plenty of them.  My girlfriend got an omelet and pronounced it a good omelet.

=Location=
Location was important this weekend.  It's right next to a Blue Line park-and-ride station where parking is not too bad at $12/day.  So if you've got one person driving and one person flying looking to meet in the same place and take the train downtown, it's perfect.

No. No. No. Sofitel you broke my heart. I loved your pool, your sauna, your restaurant AND your bar. I even could have grown to think of the horrible music you play (Moroccan music mixed with trance songs) as quirky and fun. But there's no way that's going to happen now. Here's the list of reasons why this hotel is on my shitlist.

-Parking costs $18 and is a far walk (update, free with validation)
-They gave me the wrong room key and I walked in on a couple sleeping.
-The desk receptionist didn't apologize for the above incident.
-She told me it was my fault for giving them disinformation (wrong)
-The manager wouldn't fix the issue, directing me to the original help.
-The manager didn't apologize for the above incident.
-It took me 30 minutes to get the right key to my room and finally check in.

It's a shame, because I loved the amenities, and the beds were more comfortable than an angel cradling you like a baby wrapped in a cloud. Et tu Hotel Sofitel?

Id go back here just for the beds. It was of the best night sleeps i had on vacation in a long time. The staff was wonderful! I had soo many q's and they really helped me out! Look for dates when there isnt a convention at the center across the street. Theyll jack up the prices just a tad.

If you are travelling without a car and dont want to pay the high prices for hotels downtown, this is the pace to stay. The el station is walkable to. But it is a 20 min ride back into town. Its fun to watch all the people coming to and from the airport. The airport is 1 el stop away too. Its about 40 dollars for a taxi ride one way though. I suggest a 3 day travellers el pass for $12.99

The most satisfying 2-night stand I've ever had. Nobody's ever touched me like your down comforter and 1000-thread count sheets. The way your feather bed made me feel was unparallelled. And you even made me breakfast in the morning!

I stayed here last year for a convention. And the staff was really nice, and the inside decor was nice as well. But what really sold me on this hotel was the bedding they used on the beds. They were just so comfy, it was like sleeping on the comfiest pillow in the world. The set up of the room was nice as well but nothing really stood out about the room aside from the bed. And if you ordered the internet to use on your TV it's really slow and shitty. But the bedding was just so comfy. Which is why this hotel is so memorable to me.

This is not as exciting design-wise as the newer Sofitel in downtown Chicago (especially when comparing the exteriors of the two hotels), but it is very nice for Rosemont. The lobby looks cozy and contemporary, and the little gift shop is a good place to browse. The rooms are fine, though again not as scintillating as its sister property downtown. They also provide a free shuttle bus service.

There is something magical about this hotel.  I feel transported to Paris.  The lobby bar begs you to stop in for a glass of wine and a nibble of their signature olives and other lovely tidbits.  The rooms are charming and the bed is Nirvana- the sheets, the foot tall down comforter...don't get me started.  The restaurant, Chez Collette is a charming little bistro with simple dishes like Coq au Vin .  And don't forget to stop in the La petit bakery.  I met my husband on Bastille's day at this hotel 13 years ago and we try to spend our anniversary  weekend there whenever we can.

We decided to go to Sofitel for a few days to get out of the city, with high hopes and lots of excitement.  We got off to a rocky start with the staff that came off a little snooty and not very helpful - example: When we got to the room, we saw what looked like the door to the mini bar, with a lock.  We called to ask for the key but we told they took the mini bars out of the rooms a while back and did not leave the fridge. We brought some wine and cheese with us, so we asked them to send up a larger bucket or tray that we could use as an improv refrigerator (the ice bucket was very small).  We were instead, given directions to the ice machine with no further help.  The beds are great - that is true, however with down pillows and down featherbeds with down comforter, we were surprised that there was no sheet on the bed besides the fitted sheet - we were either cold or sweating. The rooms are individually climate controlled so we kept it cool, but still had a hard time evening out our own temps. After a fantastic dinner at Wildfire the second night, we returned with leftovers so I asked the front desk for a way to refrigerate them and was told we could rent a small fridge for the room for $25 (where was this information the night before?). We felt nickel and dimed to death by the end - $25 for a fridge, $8 or $10 for a pot of coffee from room service (because there is no maker in the room), T-Mobile HotSpot wifi for $10 a day but no data ports to hook up DSL, $13 for a glass of wine... etc which I would expect in the city, but the whole experience didn't justify the prices, I felt. The restaurant was not fantastic, the food was ok. The bed was great, the bath towels were huge, the water pressure was excellent and the hotel itself was clean and well-kept. Overall I'd give it a 3.5 rather than a full 4 but that's not an option. I know Sofitel has a great reputation, so I will go to the one downtown but probably not back to the Rosemont location.
