Went here for a friend's birthday and the food was quite good and not very expensive either. The atmosphere was great and I would love to go back some time.

There are some pretty funny item descriptions on the menu too, so check it out.

Okay, we lost our favorite Chinese place next to Sports Authority in Roseville due to the economy, so we were in search of a good replacement. There is one in Loomis was becoming a close second but now that we ate hear - it my be our new favorite. I found Rose Garden by sorting all reviews in Roseville and the top rated at (4) stars was this place respectively.

The Food: We always order pot stickers and sizzling rice soup. In my humble opinion a Chinese restaurant can be measured by how good the sizzling rice soup is and the chow main. Both were great at this place... whew now let's get on to the other stuff. We had chow main, house fried rice, and and another combo shrimp and meat dish recommended by our server.

The Service: This is what dragged my rating down, if we were served faster  they would have had a solid (4) stars from me. When we first got there we were only the third table seated at 5:30pm Sunday night. Shortly after our order was taken the restaurant started to fill and take-out was standing room only. Our appetizers [sizzling rice soup and pot stickers] took well over 20 minutes to receive. The food came another 20-30 minutes later and we had to remind the waiter that we had more to come after the chow main was received. Just plain out lousy service. The total time to at the restaurant was 1.45hrs!

Overall assessment: Food is tasty and priced right, our total bill + tip was only $40 and that included (3) dishes and (2) appetizers [no soda's, just tea]. Go for takeout, dine-in is second fiddle to the take-out food that was going past our table like a Chinese bottle rocket!

A few weeks back a friend of mine organized a mom's night out to Rose Garden.  She praised it as cheap, tasty, and quick.  I'd have to agree with that description.

When we arrived the place was pretty busy, and there was a large group of about 15 in front of us.  They had made a reservation unlike our group, but both groups were seated within five minutes of each other.  I was very pleased with the quick service.  Everyone in our group of about 8 or 9 ordered something separate to share "family-style".  Each dish was flavorful and came out nice and hot.  Our waiters were very attentive.  In fact, our organizer has been to Rose Garden so many times, she's on a first name basis with one of the waitresses.  I think she may be a manager or owner.  Anyway, she was very nice and so was our meal.

The one complaint I had was that it was quite warm [105+ outside, so quite hot inside as well with the air on low] and I really did not enjoy the soup dish my friend ordered.  It was something like sizzling rice soup that they serve at your table.  They pour the hot rice into what I could only assume was unflavored broth, and it sizzled.  It had no flavor and essentially tasted like hot, uncooked rice in water.  Would not order that again.  But I very much enjoyed everything else, including the huge box of leftovers the next day.

Wow! This restaurant is probably the best Chinese restaurant in greater Sacramento region. The wait staffs were very friendly, the food was great.

After a hard day fixing up my brother's new house, we decided to go get something to eat. I heard about Rose Garden for  a while now, but I didn't have a chance to try it until now.

We went there around 7 PM and our waiter greeted us with a smile unlike other Chinese place that I went too, LOL, that's a good sign of thing to come. The waiter was great guiding us through the menu and tell us what to get and what to avoid.

In all, We ended up happy with our food and especially our service. A big 5++ for Rose Garden. AP

Since we moved to Gold River a few months ago, the BW and I have been on a quest to find a go-to, family-owned, Chinese restaurant. We've tried a number of places already, but none have been worth writing about. The common problem seems to be a lack of flavor. Most of the Chinese we've eaten has been nondescript--the food so bland, it's hard to tell one dish from another.

The Rose Garden is the best of the lot we've tried so far, but that's like damning by faint praise. At least the preparation showed some aptitude. Ingredients were fresh and cooked to the right measure of doneness, and the amount of food was more than ample. One standout was the Won Ton soup, laden with tasty dumplings, roast pork, and bok choy, all floating in a savory broth. But the rest of the dishes, although perfectly edible, were utterly uninspired.

Service was friendly and attentive, although a bit on the slow side. One pleasant surprise came after we received the bill. A party of three, our order consisted of soup, egg rolls, Hong Kong-style Chow Mein, BBQ Pork with Chinese Greens, BBQ Pork Fried Rice, and General Tso's Chicken. The bill for all that food came to around $40.00. There were plenty of leftovers as well, so that's quite a good value for the money, in my opinion.

The BW and I will probably continue our quest for a favorite Chinese restaurant, and keep the Rose Garden in reserve until we find something better. It's not that it's so bad. It probably deserves 3.5 stars. But I've just got to believe there's a go-to Chinese restaurant for us somewhere in the greater Sacramento area.

Cream cheese & crab won-tons, orange chicken, broccoli beef, fried rice, white rice... all for $25ish bucks. Enough food for dinner  for two as well as lunch leftovers. Great service, they do take-out as well.

First trip based on Yelp hype was okay but not much more. Friendly service was the highlight. I had BBQ Pork Chow Mein (Hong Kong Style), and Lemon Chicken. ...The latter was over-sauced. ...The Chow Mein was good although next time I will know to ask for less veggies. Chow Mein varies greatly from place to place and here it includes zucchini, carrots, and baby corn - all of which I don't care for. I'll get it with just the pea pods, bok-choy, onions, mushrooms, and sprouts that also came with it! That's too many veggies. But it did taste good. The sauce tasted like it was chicken-broth based.   ...Coke products as beverage.

My family's favorite (only) Chinese restaurant!   Great service and ambiance, and fantastic food.

Our favorites include wonton and hot & sour soup, general chicken (ask for it extra spicy), and orange chicken.

Love it, love it, love it!

Very good Chinese!  My favorite was the cream cheese wontons (10 for ~$6)!. Everything was great as leftovers the next day.  Reasonably priced considering the amount of leftovers the next day. Hot tea, fried wonton crisps and sweet and sour sauce was brought out immediately upon seating.  Service was of your typical Chinese restaurant quality. Dishes were brought out very quickly.

I also don't understand why this place has such good ratings. Don't let the good ratings fool ya, like it did me!

I went to this restaurant with my girlfriend hoping for some good Chinese food and service. This place wasn't nearly as great as it sounds. Our server was really rude and it took forever to get our food. Our food didn't even have that much taste to it!

We are not going back to this place...

I've been going to Rose Garden for about fifteen years now, and I can honestly say that it's the best "mom and pap" Chinese Restaurant you'll find in the Sacramento Valley.  I have tried many new places recently, none of which even compare to Rose Garden.  When you order a chicken dish they actually use white breast meat whereas many mom and pap Chinese Restaurants tend to use dark meat which I hate.  Every dish I've had there (which is almost all of them) are very good and affordable.  Additionally, the owners / staff are very nice, hard working people.

I have no idea why this place is getting high ratings. It was lackluster in more than one way.

First off, don't bother going here if you are vegetarian because you will not be impressed with the selection. You can't even order some fried veggie egg rolls because they only premake their eggrolls with meat!!

I went with a meat eater and they said their eggplant and chicken dish had no flavor too.

The service is also slow.

I'm pretty picky about Chinese food, but I do like this place. The Won ton soup is good, the cashew chicken is tasty and I'm sure there are other great items, I just always eat the same thing. Staff is friendly and attentive and there is abundant parking. Pricing is fair and the restaurant is clean.

This continues to be best chinese food I've ever had!  I grew up eating at this place and have since moved to San Francisco.  I've now lived there for almost 5 years and still haven't found anything better than Rose Garden in Roseville...so I make a point to come here whenever I'm in town.  The wonton soup is awesome!  The cream cheese wontons- to die for!  Broccoli beef is the best, never any fatty pieces, broccoli is always cooked to perfection, not too mushy, not too crunchy.  Cashew chicken is also a hit, very flavorful and the house chow mein!  mmm!  I could go on forever!  Seriously, anything you get here is fantastic.  I've never had something I didn't like (and I've tried just about everything).  Oh, and the service, also great!  Thanks to Kim for always greeting my family by name every time we come in!

Only one word to describe this place.AWESOME
My wife treated me to this place as she knows I love good chinese food.(she has eaten there a number of this with her girl friends)we got ther about 5:30 p.m. there were only a few people there at this time and I thought o no this is not good.By 6:00 p.m. the place was packed and people waiting on tables.(a good sign)
I ordered the won ton soup, Honey Walnut Prawns,Lemon Chicken,B.B.Q.pork fried rice, pork chow mein & sweet & sour pork.
the won ton soup was wonderful, the won tons were firm with a great pork mixture in side and the broth was very flavorful. the honey walnut prawns were to die for.the best I have ever eaten, large prawns lightly flowered, deep fried for just a second and so tender.the walnuts had a sutle sweet flavor.next was the b.b.q pork fried rice.the slight flavor of the b.b.q made the rice a nice change up on the taste.2 large chicken  breast lightly breaded and fried with a slightly tart lemon flavor, not the overly sweet sauce some places put on the chicken.the pork in the chow mein was very good as was the veggies.the noodles were light, fluffy and tender.the sweet & sour pork was good with a great sauce and lots of veggies.(the pork was a little chewy)
With your dinner they also bring out a large bowl of plain sticky rice.the cost of the entire dinner was $43.00 and we had enough for 2 meals at home.I may try other chinese restaurants in the future but this will my favorite place.

Try the walnut prawns -- it's rare to find it so light and crispy.

Friendly, fast, cheap, tasty, and plentiful.  And while we're at it, the atmosphere inside is great -- far better than one would expect from the strip mall outside.

Cheap amazing chinese food. The green beans are my favorite. yum. Takeout doesn't take very long even though they cook to order. I haven't dined in yet but I've heard that it is a nice place for a romantic dinner.

I have been eating at the Rose Garden since I was in the womb. They know me and my family by name. Everyone is really friendly who works there and they are really speedy. I can think of really only one experience I had with less than impressive service and I have been going there at least 30 times per year since childhood. Absolutely the best Chinese food I have ever had and is very inexpensive. I suggest the hot and sour soup (especially if you have a cold or it is really cold outside), the poo poo platter (don't let the name turn you off. . .it is a mix of various appetizers with a little fire in the middle so you can warm everything up), the beef chow fun (it's wider noodles than chow mein. . .seriously good eats), sweet and sour pork, and the cream cheese wontons, which come in the poo poo platter or can be ordered separately. Be sure to try new things because that's how I found out what's good because I always find it monotonous to eat the same thing from the same place all the time.

The best Won Ton Soup ever!!  No other Chinese food restaurant has come close.  Their pork fried rice is very good and the appetizers are amazing!  We have not eaten in the restaurant yet, we always order to-go.
