My girlfriend was going on and on about Rose Alcido and how great she was and I was like all, "Shut up and write a review, you Orange Head."  Ok, I never would've said that because she would turn around and kick my ass.   I did take her advice and go get a facial this weekend and had the best facial of my life.

I cannot say enough good about my experience.  Rose was waiting for me as I came in for my "Simply Relaxing" Facial.  The name says it all: Rose Alcido - Check, Beauty Nook - Check.  I filled out her questionnaire and we had a brief conversation about my skin regimen, my skin goals (I happen to have very motivated skin) and her recommendations.  She  was a lovely woman and did a thorough job.  She recommended a peel, which I agreed to.  During the facial, when creams and lotions were setting in (usually when a facialist abandons you), Rose set about to lightly massage my shoulders, neck and scalp.  She even treated my dry scalp with a little oil.  Everyone noticed my skin looked great and I wasn't even fishing for compliments.  It was worth every penny.

If you go:
1) Booking on Lifebooker can save you 50%
2) If she makes a recommendation, take it.
3) Tip generously.

My facial came to $78.00.  I gave her a $20 tip.

Enjoy.

I agree with other comments that Rose is very kind and gentle.  I had a "Glowing Me" 60 minute facial I booked through http://lifebooker.com that cost $85 + tip (normally $180 apparently).  She did a great job explaining what she was doing most of the time.  However, unlike a previous poster, when my mask was on she did leave the room for 5-10 minutes and in the entire 60 minute massage she probably massaged my head/neck/shoulders no more than a minute or two.  Also, she did some minimal extractions, but I definitely needed more.  She said that the skin can't take more than a few minutes of extractions?  In other facials I have had I have always had full extractions and never had a problem.  At the end she recommended I come in every 3 weeks 6 times to get my skin in shape.  She also said that the lifebooker facials are not a very good deal for her (understandably since lifebooker takes a fee and they are discounted), so she made it seem as though if I wanted to continue seeing her regularly I would have to pay the normal full price of a facial ($150-220).  Maybe I misunderstood what she was implying but thats what I gathered.  When I asked about a skin care regiment at home, she suggested I simply try different over the counter moisturizers, cleansers and exfolliants until I find something that my skin "likes."   She also suggested her very own "I'll Never Tell" serum, which she used on my skin and felt great but is $120 for a very small bottle that lasts 30 days.

I liked Rose, her office is small and personal and she is very nice.  But for her most expensive facial I would have wanted full extractions and some more concrete advice on home skin care.  Also, it's simply not feasible for most people (myself included) to rely on $200 facials every 3 weeks to take care of their skin care needs so I would have appreciated options in my price range.  It was a good facial, but as a two star rating implies, overall, "meh, I've experienced better."

My hands are really rough because I wash them constantly at work.
I went in for the "Beauty Hands Up" treatment and it worked really well. She exfoliated, wrapped, and put my hands in a warmer. I know it's not going to last forever so I will have to get it again but for now I'm very satisfied.

Booked waxing with Rose through lifebookers (sign up and get 50% off her services). Really, I just picked a random location and was simply amazed at the quality of service. Rose was extremely friendly and patient. The nice thing, she also took her time and did not rush through the waxing procedure - I really doubt you want a quick but shobby job. We chatted for a long while about almost everything and I don't even remember feeling any pain or discomfort. I generally have rather sensitive skin, so I was very happy that I felt almost nothing. By far, this was as pleasant and comfortable experience as a bikini wax can be.

A couple of things to be aware of:
1. Since there is no double dipping, Rose will also not use scissorsor any other non-disposable items. If you're concerned about length of hairs that you decide to keep, you will have to take care of it on your own.
2. Rose mentioned that she does not do body wax, as the place is no double dip. If you're a regular customer, Rose can set aside your own can of wax to perform body waxing. Otherwise, simply not going to happen.

Unfortunately, I have not been here for facials, so I cannot comment on quality of service.

I first booked an appointment with Rose through http://Lifebooker.com, because of the great 50% off deal on waxing they have been offering. I am now a Rose addict. Not only is Rose the sweetest, gentlest, and kindest woman you will ever meet, she is also one of the most intelligent and most qualified in her field. Rose went to medical school in the Phillipines, and uses her diverse knowledge to create her own skin care products. I have yet to get a facial from Rose, but I am definitely planning on it in the near future!

Rose operates out of a cozy ("nook" aptly sums it up) space that is both private and comfortable. There are rarely other clients present, even in the waiting room, as Rose really likes to give each person individual attention. And, I've never had a  better bikini wax (ie. very little pain during, no redness or ingrown hairs afterwards). Rose will also give you great advice on anything. She is truly a gem and I heart her so.

Good facial! V. Pleased with Rose. I think of her more as a "Facial consultant" than necessarily an aesthetician.... with effective results. Take it as you will. I will probably go back, unless I decide to be adventurous and book some other great-looking deal on http://Lifebookers.com..... Check that website out!

Most Relaxing. Facial. Ever.

Being nine months pregnant there's not much that could be, or needed to be, done to my face, so I opted to try the 60-minute "Simply Relaxing Facial." Prior to this, the least stressful facial I've ever had was at the Boca Raton Resort & Spa. Rose's treatment blew that away.

VENUE: A small suite, less spa and more clinic-like, but extremely comfortable and intimate. I forgive the lack of opulence as I like the personal feel very much.

TREATMENT: As I mentioned, not much can be done to your skin when pregnant (no peels, harsh treatments etc), plus my skin's in good shape anyway due to pregnancy hormones and vitamins. So Rose cleaned my skin but most of the focus was on the face, shoulder, neck and head massage. If I wasn't so afraid of snoring, I would have allowed myself to get knocked out completely. I was close though! Everything she used--lotions, toners whatnot--smelled sooo good so it was a great aromatherapy experience as well. We'll see if my skin doesn't have some kind of reaction to the products overnight but as of now, my skin feels light, fresh and super clean.

ROSE: She's a lovely woman with magic hands--for Filipinos out there, she's got a great touch with that "hilot" of hers.

VALUE: Booked a Lifebooker special, so it was 50% the regular $120. While definitely a deal, I'd shell out the $120 (which is reasonable)--it was that good.

UPSELL/PRODUCT PUSHING: Nada.

REPEAT: Hell yeah. I'd be interested to see what she can do with my not-so-great non-pregnant skin after I have the baby.

Like most others, I found Rose through Lifebooker, and decided to go to her because (again, like everyone else) the 50% off waxing deal and the fact that she is so close to my job. I've been a couple of times now, and find that she is absolutely wonderful. She remembers you when you come back, her entire place is incredibly clean, and she is remarkably gentle. Somehow you feel very comfortable in her hands and not the least bit awkward considering the procedure.

Found her through Lifebooker when I was looking for facial waxing at a reasonable price.  Got my upper lip done for $7.50.  She was gentle and reassuring and gave me great advice about how to keep from breaking out post waxing.   I've paid 3 times this amount at fancier spas and had major problems with bumps and irritation afterwards.  With her, redness was gone within a short time, and I've experienced no post-waxing irritation and very minimal breaking out.  I'm definitely a fan and will be returning to put my face in her capable hands!

I went to Rose Alcido's about a month ago for a microdermabrasion. She took a look at my skin, she took a look at my skin, and she suggested that I rather need deep cleansing to improve my skin for a long term. After her treatment, i came home, looked in the mirror, i found no difference. I called up a different spa, and when the facialist looked at my skin, she told me that there was no cleansing done! Rose is a wonderful woman, but perhaps her facials were too 'gentle' for my needs. In the second spa,  my pores were extracted extensively (my pores couldnt have clogged up that much after 1 hr or so!). I was surprised I spent around 300 dollars for facial in one day, when I could have spent 150 or less.

I went to Rose thinking that I wanted a microdermabrasion for the first time to try get rid of my acne scarring. She took one look at me and refused to do it. She said it would make my skin redder (because I have rosacia) and would irritate it. I was thankful for this advice because I would imagine that at a less personal spa they wouldnt say anything because microdermabrasions can be expensive and would probably want to sell the service no matter what it did to my skin. Instead she gave me a facial for newbies and it was amazing. First she sat with me and asked me questions about my skin and my family background with respec to skin problems. When she performed the facial, she explained what she was doing every step of the way and was very gentle but effective. I would recommend her anytime!
