10 reviews for Roscoe Village Family Medicine
After my less than stellar appointment at Northwestern, I checked Yelp specifically for small, neighborhood-based family medicine clinics. And now I'm ever so grateful.
Dr. Lindeman is very warm and actually treats you like you should be--as a patient, human and not a number. I happy to say that I've found a primary care physician in Chicago and the office is very close to home.
One note, as this might be a recent addition just this year--you'll need to put down a credit or debit card for your appointments (just as security, pending insurance payment).
I was so excited after seeing the rave reviews, I was sure I had found my new general practitioner. Sadly, I was disappointed when calling to make an appt about the required membership ($30/month for single or $50/month for family). Super lame. Dear Roscoe Village Family Medicine: please reverse your policy!!! You're losing potential patients!
Like the others, I was so excited to have a doc so close to home. However, after learning about their new "membership" fee, I was shocked and pissed. My fiancé and I are rarely in need of a doctor's visit, so there was NO WAY we were going to pay their ridiculous, snobby fee. We each have our own medical plan so it would cost us $30 each, PER MONTH just to be a patient there. That is crap. I've complained to my insurance company & will not being going there. How incredibly selfish & awful of them to pull this crap in our little neighborhood. By trying to make a doctor's office some sort of private club, you will just lose business & credibility. Good luck with that.
I haven't actually been here so I can't comment on the type of service received. I am leaving my 2 stars because I am apalled at their request of $30 per month just to be a member. What the hell??! As if I don't pay enough for health insurance... they expect me to also dish out an extra 30 bucks on top of the 150 I already pay?? I read all the reviews on here and decided to try them out because I don't have a general doctor in Chicago yet. Once I figured out they charge a membership fee, I found a doctor elsewhere.
So, I called to make an appointment w/ them after seeing what wonderful reviews they got...they are now turning into a members only, so in order to make an appointment w/ them u have to agree to pay a $30/mo membership fee for at least 3 months and then u have the option to terminate your membership and can no longer go there again. Bummer.
A few years ago, I found myself living in Roscoe Village, doctor-less, and ill. I stumbled upon Roscoe Village Family Medicine in the phone book, called and was immediately booked a same-day appointment. Impressive! I saw Dr. Lindeman that day, and was amazed with his professionalism and overall care for me as a patient. He understood that I had no insurance and was willing to work with me concerning prescriptions and whatnot. I was so pleased with his service that I even bought him a thank-you card and dropped it off at his office. He takes a genuine interest in his patients' health, and it is clear that medicine and helping people are his passions. It's a few years later; Dr. Lindeman remains to be my primary physician, and I have yet to be disappointed.
My husband and I just moved to Roscoe Village. I came down with a nasty cold flu and needed a doctor. The yelp reviews told me to come to Family Medicine. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a lovely staff. There was no wait time and Dr., Lindeman was wonderful. He was polite, attentive, knowledgeable and had a good bedside manner. I recommend him and am so excited that we have found our family doctor.
I heart Dr. Lindeman! He keeps up on all the latest research, doesn't overprescribe medication, and takes a whole patient approach to medicine - not just looking at isolated symptoms. I go to him for conditions I'd normally see a specialist for because his treatments are always spot-on. I send all my friends to him.
Check out the Roscoe Village Family Medicine website - you can book appointments online... so convenient. I'm always able to get in if I have an urgent issue. The staff is very friendly. There is plenty of easy parking right by the office as well.
I started going to Dr. Lindeman when he was at the Seton Medical Center on North Ave. I had been going to a doctor at Ravenswood Hospital that was always too busy to see me. She prescribed antibiotics over the phone for my self-diagnosed sinus infection (I got them all the time) because everyone in her office was overbooked for the next 2 weeks. Then she got mad when I went to the emergency room because I was dizzy and disoriented to the point of being scared. A friend that is a pharmacist insisted I go because she prescribed me something new, strong, and not really for sinus infections. The doctor acted like it was my fault because I didn't come in to see her! As if I didn't try.
My pharmacist friend that took me to the emergency room recommended Dr. Lindeman. I went two days later (it took that long to get the records). He squeezed me in even though I was a new patient. When he walked in for the appointment he had actually READ MY CHART! Amazing. He was appalled at what I had been prescribed for this sinus infection. He noticed I was sick a lot and actually laid out a cohesive plan to rule out causes and to get me healthy. I did eventually have to have surgery on my sinuses but I felt confident that we ruled out every other possible solution in the meantime.
More than 15 years later, I am much healthier and happier today because of Dr. Lindeman. You can see his schedule online and book your own appointments. He is for the most part always on time. Once or twice he's been a few minutes late and very apologetic. I've never minded since he always squeezes me or my friends in regardles of whether they are patients or not. He genuinely cares about people and will even check up on you later.
Best. Doctors. Ever. Dr. Lindeman is simply amazing. The other doctor there is Dr. Miller, who is just as great. Both doctors are always on time for their appointments and do not overprescribe. Instead, they will honestly tell you when just some chicken noodle soup and tea will work best, instead of giving you a script. Their office is very high-tech and was the first I knew about to allow patients to book appointments via their website. Also, the doctors tend to bring in laptops with them for appointments, for reference to everything that is in your file (I'm assuming all kept in the computer). Simply amazing.
