So i stopped by here while i was waiting for the ferry to pick me up and i am impressed with their burgers.  I ordered the bleu cheese burger and it tastes better than other places like red robins!  It wasnt overcooked, but rather medium well, which kept the juices in.  The service was good, and they have a good selection of beer on tap.  I'd be willing to go again to try one of their other selections.  I hear that their ribs are pretty good as well.

I have been going here for a few years.  It's a small pub with pub food and atmosphere.  On a warm, sunny day it don't get no better.  Watch ferry traffic come and go, people-watch on their deck and get a good stiff drink.
I ordered a Jack n'Coke once and I think they poured the Jack in the glass and showed it a can of Coke.  The Long Island Ice Teas are pretty potent.  My only gripe is the number of beers has decreased...again.  When I first started going there they had about 25 different beers.  The key is to order a pitcher, or go during happy-hour when pints are 3 bucks.
The staff, what can I say are just normal people.  They have always been cool and no attitudes.  I guess they save that for the sports bar that replaced the Indian place down the street.  Friday and Saturday nights can get a bit crowded but no surprise there.  Parking can be a hassle, but park up the street and have a nice walk by the water.
This isn't a "Sex In The City", pinky-out Cosmopolitan, Paris Hilton spur of the moment trend, which probably explains why it's been there so long.

    I guess I don't really understand Rory's?

Where do all these people come from? The rest of Edmonds is so sleepy.

We just had drinks here. The service was good and it wasn't that crowded.

The girls that walked through the door looked like they picked up a Forever 21 dress on clearance and thought they were walking into a hot night club.... in Tacoma.

We aren't in a hurry to come back though, weird crowd. I don't want to see your cooch!

Been coming here for about 6 years... have always loved grabbing drinks on the deck in the summer, and though the menu is typical bar food--it's done well and there are lots of options. The last few times I've been in have changed my mind about whether I want to hang out here anymore.  The bartender and server are constantly making out and groping each other behind the bar right in front of all their customers, very awkward and unprofessional.  I get it that this place is a dive bar and not some big corporate place with rules on that kind of behavior, but it's very unappealing to have to see that kind of thing while I'm trying to eat!  Save that stuff for the bedroom guys.

Rory's is a great place to grab a beer while you are walking around downtown Edmonds or waiting for the ferry.  We have always enjoyed for the beer, so we decided to eat lunch there on a weekday.  I
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised.  It was good pub fare with a great lime chicken soup.  I recommend a stop here if you are in the area.

No where better for enjoying a sunny day after participating in your sport of choice.  Spend an afternoon sitting outside watching the ferries come and go, chat with the beachcombers and the ferry riders soaking up the sun, and of course order the fall-off-the-bone ribs.
It is especially fun when folks in the ferry line duck in for a beer and lose track of time.  The cars start to board and they have to bolt out.  Everyone yells "Finish your beer!"
5 stars for perfect execution of its category.

LOVE Rory's. Kelli is my favorite bartender! I always get greeted with a smile, great food & they have Blue Moon on tap and they're never out of oranges like most places.
Get a pound of love while you're here, it's amazing.

Ok, if you like bar food that is undercooked and a little bit of attitude, go to Rory's. They will impress you.

Ordered a cheeseburger 'well done' and after one bite, I had blood in my mouth and on the plate. NO JOKE. I notifed my server and she said she would take care of it.

I get my burger back with my bite missing and the burger charred to all hell. I complain to my server and she asks me what I want her to do. I told her I wanted a new, freshly cooked burger and to my amazement she says, 'I will have to charge you for it, you took a bite out of this one' I about crapped a log when she said this.

I got up and left. This will be the last time I visit this joke of a restaurant. The worst part about it is that I was dining at lunch with my 7 year old so he learned first hand about poor customer service and bad food.

So thanks Rory's for education my son and thanks for great experience.

Rory's is just fine for a bite and a drink. A big plus is its location right by the Edmonds ferry dock. Very convenient if you want to grab a beer while waiting for the ferry.

Food is typical bar food. Appetizers are pretty good if you don't mind the high calorie-type fare. Staff is friendly and the deck is nice to sit outside if it's warm enough. Rory's is doing something right to stay open all these years!

The food at Rory's is hit and miss (more hits than misses, though). But honestly, you come here for a drink, not a dinner. The atmosphere is awesome, the staff is friendly, the view is great and the music is perfect.

Great fire- with circular seats around it- in winter- Narrow, but good, selection of local beer. Always end up here with one of the parents- out on the patio or inside watching a game. Very narrow, just OK, food- stick to items like a burger or appetizers.

The staff is so friendly, and they have darts.  Yes, I typically run into someone from high school there - but whatever.  That's Edmonds, where am I NOT running into someone from high school here?  The food is pretty decent, I won't rave about it but I won't complain about it either.   I enjoy also, because I'm a sports fan, that I have a view of a TV from essentially anywhere I sit.  They have a pretty sizable beer selection too.  Always a plus!

Came here for more drinks after Taki Tiki closed. We were here for about an hour. It's a darker lit bar just a rock's throw from the Edmonds ferry dock. Our waiter was a nice guy and took care of us. We just ordered a side of fries here. They came out hot and were enjoyed by the group. I don't have any complaints about this place, but also no raves either though, just another bar to me.

Popped in here for a drink after a date because the wine bar down the street was packed. So Rory's is a nice laid back bar, but not exactly what I had hoped for in a date spot. Still, we made the most of it but had to deal with the distracting soccer game on the TVs that are ALL over the place.

The wine list was ok, and I was able to pick out one that I like. I think that for meeting up with friends Rory's would be great, but it is less than intimate.

No stars. Rory's is a bona fide abomination. They employ thugs, their food sucks, and it's just the BIGGEST SHITHOLE EVER.

I do accept some responsibility, however, for the abysmal experience I had here one Friday night. Mistake #1: coming here in the first place. I drove 20 miles north to spend a Friday night here?! Mistake #2: I ended up getting completely wasted. In my defense, it was probably to forget that I was here. At Rory's. The BIGGEST SHITHOLE EVER.  Mistake #3: I forgot to close out my tab.

The next morning I called to make sure my debit card was, in fact, still at the bar. Yes it was, and I was assured that it would remain there until I came to pick it up. I made it back there on Sunday, closed out my tab, and even left a nice tip. A couple of business days later, I checked my bank statement and discovered that some very klassy individual (no doubt born, raised, and still languishing in some trailer park along Hwy 99) had used my card on Saturday to charge fare to Kingston. Nice.

Why I even bothered to call and demand my money back seems so ridiculous to me now ($18 for said klassy individual and his/her POS) . I should have known that anyone associated with this place is a total lowlife. Yet I wasted my time talking to the manager who basically told me that I was wrong and that no one had access to my card - even though I had proof that it was used. Of course! I must have come back on Saturday (still in my drunken stupor), got my card back, traveled all the way to Kingston, did who knows what while I was there, returned to the BIGGEST SHITHOLE EVER, and left my card there AGAIN!

Do not give your business to this dump. Rory's is a cesspool run by unsavory, unscrupulous, brazen bottom-feeders. If you can't trust that your credit card is safe behind their bar, chances are you can't trust that your food is safe behind their greasy kitchen doors.

Rory's laid back vibe was just what I needed as I was meeting my BF's mom for the first time. Luckily, pitchers of beer were poured, the conversation was great, and it was a success!

Matt had the ribs which were fantastic, his parents split the sliders, and I had the grilled cheese. My sandwich was on a nice hearty bread, and the fries were enjoyed by all.

Our service was great even though it was a Friday night. Is Rory's a place I would return too? Maybe, if I was in the area. Wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad. As yelp says... 3 stars... A-OK.

Rory's, Rory's, Rory's.  Man, I've been going here for years, and have had some decent times here, but the last few times have been an utter disappointment.  I've been trying to give 'em a second chance (many times in a row), but they just haven't been doin' it.  Sort of getting to a point where I might need to say, "this just isn't working out".

As I've said, I've been going here for years, and for me, this probably means hundreds of dollars over the years (my bro lives nearby, and probably spends 10x this annually at this place).  And the thing which sucks, is that you feel like a total stranger every time you come in here.  Granted they can be crowded, but other times they're dead, and they still act like they don't know you from a dog fresh off the ferry (my brother and his gf literally would go here once a week or two!).

The last couple of times we were here the service was horrible.  We were famished, and wanted to get some of their savory burgers and a pitcher or two.  We ordered a pitcher, grabbed a table as soon as one opened up, and waited.

And waited.  And waited.  And waited.

Watched other people sit at tables near us.  Waited.  Saw them have their order taken.

Waited.  And Waited.  Started cursing the place.  Saw other people get their food.  Waited.  And waited.  And waited.

Finished our pitcher.  And waited.  And waited.  And waited.  And waited.  And waited.  And waited.  And waited.  And waited.  We were finally asked "can I get you anything to eat?"  (it's been an hour)

    "We'll take a check"

I feel bad for saying good bye to ole Rory's (you can see I've given them their props in the past with my previous Yelps).  It's a nice grungy ole pub near the water, with decent grub, and libations.  We shoulda known it was a bad sign when we walked in to see paramedics resuscitating an elderly woman on the floor near the fire pit.  This is the second time we've come here with a paramedics parked out front and caring for a Rory's patron.  If we stayed and waited for another hour for food, I'm sure all three of us would have been taken out on stretchers, too.

    Three words:  HIGH SCHOOL REUNION

I think someone else said it - this is totally a Cheer's! kind of bar. Grew up just outside of downtown, recently moved back home to save money and every time I stop in this place for a beer I see SOMEONE from high school.  It's inevitable, so oh well.  Very casual, very personable staff; overall, encompasses the "It's an Edmond's Kind of Day" vibe.  Not only that but it's really the only bar in the Edmonds area that I like.  Absolutely LOVE sitting outside on a summer day, drinking bud light, eating appetizers and watching the ferry come in and out.

I have a serious soft spot for this place. It is what it is - a bar. However the nice people and awesome atmosphere keep me coming back.

Rory's is situated right next to the ferry dock, and they offer a fabulous patio seating area from which you can see the water (and lots of ferry traffic).

    SIZE & SEATING:

The bar itself is rather small inside. If you are going on a busy Friday or Saturday night, show up early for an ideal table. Call ahead if you have a larger party and they're usually good about saving your group a place. They have a really neat table that surrounds a unique fireplace in the middle of the bar. This is a great spot to go for a romantic drink!

    LIQUOR:

The drinks were strong and pleasing.

    FOOD:

This isn't a place to go for great food at great prices. The food is only okay and sometimes the portions can be incredibly small for the higher price. However on the one occasion I was miffed enough to mention that I felt "ripped off" by my portion, they knocked some of the money off my bill.

I mainly go for the drinks. Bar food, such as fries and nachos, is good and usually what I opt for.

    BOTTOM LINE:

Rory's is a good time in a good location. I love the place.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE RORY'S! I love all of the staff there and it honestly is the one place I am sure to go to when I'm in the mood for bars/casual dining in Edmonds. The people there are always friendly and do their best to accommodate whatever you need.

The only thing I would complain about is the ocassional nasty customer...newsflash people just because you didn't give yourself enough time to relax and grab something to eat before catching a ferry DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO BE RUDE & DISRESPECTFUL!

Rory's always does everything in their power to be fast and courteous, it just gets on my last nerve to see people mistreat the staff there. Be respectful and you will get the same back.

    YAY FOR RORY'S!!

I used to come to Rory's regularly - every Wednesday to meet a friend for a dinner & drinks... but even back then, with weekly attendance, I only got acknowledgement from a couple of staff.

After I threw myself a 30th birthday party here, I thought, "now they'll finally remember my name" because, frankly, it seems like the kind of place they would.  That, and the $200 tip my friends & family scrounged together should have done the trick...

Now it's been a while since I went with regularity and I usually pop in while waiting for a ferry to Kingston.  I was a little disappointed that some of my favorites on the menu seem to have gotten a little smaller and made with considerably less love & joy.  Maybe the owners are focusing more on their newer endeavors?  Whatever the reason, I miss the old Rory's.

    The Pros:
Great place to watch sports, hang out with a group, sit on the patio in summer, and they offer a terrific assortment of microbrews (YAY for Manny's!) and liquors (they even have my favorite pink grapefruit vodka!).

    The Cons:
The food quality has gone downhill - small, dry club sandwiches and the fries have been cold 3 of the 4 last times I ordered dinner.  It's very crowded on Fridays and Saturdays, so I've started skipping it altogether on weekends for a more low-pro choice down the street.

All of that being said, I have a soft spot for Rory's and I have lots of friends in the Poulsbo/Kingston area, so it's a convenient spot to meet when walking on/off the ferry.  The dive-bar decor is right up my alley.  Bring back the tasty food and you'll earn yourself another star!

Rory's is basically what you'd expect from a bar. It's dark inside and there are video games and TV screens all over. The walls are plastered with beer advertisements and NFL junk. It smells faintly of smoke, even though smoking is no longer allowed.

But, Rory's does have a certain appeal. The vibe inside is low-key and welcoming. The waitstaff is friendly and seem happy to be slinging beer at 10:00am for Seahawks fans. In the summer, the patio is a great place to sit and people watch, and there's even a semi-obstructed view of the water.

There are worse places to sit through football games. One word of advice: stay away from their Bloody Mary's and stick to beer.

This is the place "Where everybody knows your name."  if you are from Edmonds or have a visitor from Edmonds it's such a great place to have spirits! There are 2 dart boards, 3 video game screens.  And nothing but pure entertainment if you truly like to enjoy yourself at a bar.

The Bartender's are the best.  You name a drink and they are right on it. So friendly and personable too!

Great recomendation for those who are waiting for a fairy ride as well.  If you are from Kingston even more fun to walk over enjoy the day in Downtown Edmonds, have a drink and walk back!

Rory's has very comfortable vibe about it, and when it's not busy, their staff is pretty friendly. I go here semi regularly. It's close, their food is fairly good, (talking bar food, here... not gourmet...) and the place is relaxed.

Friday and Saturday nights, it's generally pretty crowded though. Tends to attract a mixed crowd (age-wise). When we went last night, there were a couple groups of obviously 21 year olds, a group of biker moms, and some old lady types.

Other than that, I echo most of what's already been said: Friendly neighborhood bar.

The only reason anyone would give this place 3 or more stars is because Edmonds is the Old person capital of Snohomish County.  Zero competition in terms of bars or nightlife.

Rory's is a diversion for me when I feel like having a couple beers and maybe some light food. After a number of visits, I've decided it's not a place for dinner but happy hour is a good deal. Avoid the Pulled Pork Sandwich. I've tried it twice and it tastes like leftovers. Price-wise, outside of HH, Rory's tends to be pricey (along with many other places in Edmonds) but it fills a niche for the ferry crowd!

    Yay Rory's!

I have to agree with the High School Reunion statement Tanya made. The appetizers are awesome, never had a bad experience with either drinks or service, and I love sitting on the porch on a hot summer night.

I had a great experience last summer, it was with one of those friends that you only see once every few years but when you do you have to stay to close the place down because you're having so much fun. He and I sat outside in the corner by the street, had several rounds of shots and appetizers brought to us, and didn't really come up for air until we heard through a bullhorn "It's 1:30! Get out!" What a way to call for last call, though really entertaining. This is the perfect backdrop for any friendly get together, high school reunion or birthday bash.

I was expecting a dive-ish local bar/tavern where one pops in for a quick beer and to hang with friends and less of a place to eat or relax - but was surprised to find that it may be the only bar in Edmonds where you can sit sandwiched between a table crowded with high-chairs and another packed with partying seniors - Go Rory's!  Spacious interior that is surprisingly light, open, and has volume controlled even when full and an exterior deck that I'll be back to try out the next time I'm downtown and it's sunny.  Friendly staff that kept a good balance of banter between themselves, chatting with the locals/patrons, and keeping my beer filled.  Food was about what I expected, better than some bar food I've had but not a burger I'd go out of my way for.  I do have to give props to the fact that the staff seems to eat there and I always like a place that isn't afraid to let the staff eat on the main dining floor.

For a couple of happy hour drinks, you definitely can't beat the view or dive bar ambience.  I'd recommend sitting outside, as the music has a tendency to randomly suck.  I've been there several times and never had a complaint...until last Friday.  My girlfriend and I were having a couple beers, and I had ordered the Bowl of Balls-fantastic name for the meatballs smothered in delish garlic pesto sauce!  They were amazing, to say the least...
But after the 5th or so bite, I came across a short, black, suspicious-looking hair in my ball.  I was beyond revolted.  I summoned the waitress, pointed out the abomination, and her response was, "Uuuhhmmm, are you sure that's not yours?"   I'm: A. Female. B. Have long reddish blonde hair. C. Seriously?  Lose the attitude sweetheart.  As a former waitress myself, my first inclination would have been to apologize profusely, remove the offensive dish, and offer a free beer (and, obviously take the dish off the check).  I digress.  My response was, "Yep, pretty sure...my hair doesn't look like that."  She gave me an "Oh no you didn't!" look and stood there...for about 10 seconds.  I asked her to please take the hairy ball off the table, and she rolled her eyes, grabbed the plate and flounced off.  I watched her walk up to someone who could have been a cook (with lots of black facial hair) and saw his eyes get guiltily large when he checked out the evidence.  She came back to our table, and in a sarcastically sugary sweet voice said, "I went ahead and took that off your bill."  Gee, thanks!  I wasn't mad at her until she copped the attitude...I was just grossed out, and a little kindness on her part would have gone a long way.  I should have complained to the manager about her crappy attitude, but I just wasn't in the mood for much after that.  I may return in the summer to sit on the deck and drink Manny's, but that's still up for debate.

A local hang out for stiff drinks and bar food at a decent price.  If you go on a Friday or Saturday night expect it to always crowded and difficult to find seating.  They do have a nice outside deck, but so Does Johnny's across the street.  I prefer Johnny's.  There is a cool fake stone fireplace that sits in the middle of a round table that seats around 8 people.  The only other points interests are the jukebox and darts.

Since I grew up in Edmonds, I think it would be impossible for me to have anything negative to say about this bar. I only get to visit on holidays or when I'm home visiting my family and friends, but I always enjoy myself. I conveniently also always run into someone that  I haven't seen since graduation and look forward to mini high school reunions during Christmas. The beer is good, the bartenders are friendly and the customers are well, come on, obviously amazing.

We've been a few times on full days out and Rory's has never really added or subtracted anything.  The food is pretty good, but overpriced given the portion size.  The inside always seems to be busy, loud, and dark - not appealing.

The deck is nice and the drinks are strong.  I would order mixed drinks rather than beer as you'll get more for your money.

I can see it being a good High School reunion place, as others have mentioned...but that never means much if you didn't grow up there.

Notice that people who like this place are usually drunk so they dont see how dingy and dirty this place is. They have a killer deck so on a nice day you cant go wrong if all you do is go sit outside and have a beer I guess. Ive never had good food here. If you start any meal with drinking the food always tastes better.
