I'm so happy this location opened up - Clarksville was a hike! They almost always have free samples (lots of fruit and other random stuff), so I like to spend a good 10 minutes snacking before I think about buying anything. I love the salads from the refridgerated section - especially the gonzo salad and edamame salad. They are easy to figure out how to make on your own (much more economically) by reading the label and guesstimating amounts for each ingredient.

Selection:  The range of food products (frozen and packaged) is nice.  They carry some local organic/grass fed foods.  There is a nice selection of gluten-free baked goods.  I like the variety of beers and Kosher wines.  There is a variety of organic/environmentally friendly cleaning and health supplies.

Price:  Not super but not outrageous.

Employees:  I have only dealt with the cashiers.  They are usually friendly and cheery.

Parking:  I agree with previous reviews as to the parking.  It is hard to get into the parking lot, especially from Northbound Georgia.

First off, the parking is pretty terrible. The shopping center is generally empty anyways, but from going down Georgia, you have to make a U-turn and everything, just too complicated.

Secondly, the selection is not that large and the one time I go there to buy celery, it's not fresh...at all, not to mention overpriced. The store is pretty small. I was expecting something more Whole Foods like, but I was disappointed.

The only upside is that there was a Starbucks next to it, but it was not worth the trip, even though it's like five minutes away from my house. Would rather drive up to Rockville Pike to get to Whole Foods. It's more worth the money and the time.

I hate to give this place such a low rating, as it has fantastic organic foods of all varieties, wonderful samples abound, a full organic liquor section, and free sushi - but it's just too pricey. Expect to pay roughly double what you would on a normal grocery store run, and then double that, because you bought more than you should have because they have so many fantastic items.

Still, I recommend this place to all, as going organic is probably the only way to stop the multinational corporations from taking over our food supply! Maybe if we all shop there, they'll lower their prices?

I love having such a great organic grocery store 10 minutes from my home. I like the size: it's not too overwhelming, but big enough to have lots of choices. Fresh, local and organic produce. Helpful staff. Lovely cheese selections; lots of vegan choices; fresh, made-in-the-store sushi, goat milk yogurt; microbrewery beers and organic wines; I'm in heaven!

Whole Foods watch out, Roots gives us a great experience, and is what you should be!

This store is wonderful.  I was trapped at a family gathering for a few days and my aunt had the great idea of taking me here.  They have a fresh salad bar, tons of prepared foods and samples all over the store so you can try out guacamole, apples and organic style Oreo cookies (mmmmm...).

I can only hope that they open up a store in Boston...

Vegan's Heaven. Huge selection of "cheezes" and faux-meats (if you're into that kind of thing). Great produce section. Great bulk section. Vegan supplements, vegan toiletries, etc.

They even have some great resources for raw foodists.

Oh yeah -- just so you know, they definitely aren't all vegan. They have "happy meat," which is kind of lame, but I guess the vegan crowd in DC isn't big enough to warrant its own grocery store.

Only other complaint? It's too far from DC.

This is a great place! The best grocery store around, it kicks Whole Foods in the ace. They also have a great beer and wine department, lots of organic stuff. They also have a wonderful soup and salad bar, try some of the vegan corn bread (its next to the soup) its my favorite.

I love this place.  I loved the first Roots near Columbia.
All organic foods and drinks, fruits and veggies, clean water by the gallon, most vegan (which I am not) but healthy foods.  Good local and organic beer and wine selection.  It is good to see a place that is selling organic beer in MoCo.
If you are a healthy shopper and like to shop at places like MOM's and Trader Joe's; this place is just as good if not better.

It really is refreshing to see places like this around. Prices aren't bad and a lot of vegetarian and gluten-free choices. Actually, most of their freezer section is vegetarian with a ton of choices. Good things I've had: soy jerky (by the cash registers- very good), freeze-dried mango that was plain delicious, various frozen veggie meals, prepared hummus, the list goes on... Plus it's organic to add to the list.
