Whether you are a history buff or not, you will enjoy this tour. It is set up perfectly for both the 70 year old super fan and the grand-kids that he brought with him.

There is the house itself, adjacent buildings and the beautiful grounds. Take as much and as little time as you need. Then there is the museum. Really well set up. Lots to look at, touch, listen to and read. Everyone can find something interesting. Really, it is as much about the depression as is it about him. Don't forget to bring a little something home from the gift shop.

I got a Rosie the Riveter fridge magnet that says "WE CAN DO IT!"

Ok. I'd be kidding you and me both if I said I was a presidential history buff. But despite that I can't tell you the fourth first lady or the weight of President William H Taft, FDR's Little White House was actually . . . extremely interesting.

As many underfunded, understaffed government run historic sites have signage from the 1960s and one dusty park employee at the helm, I was floored by this little historic site and museum in lil ole Warm Springs, GA - population 600.

Though FDR hailed from up North, he built a vacation home in Warm Springs, to take advantage of the 'healing powers' of the springs for his onset of polio. He visited the little town dozens of times, and actually passed away at the Little White House while posing for a portrait. The museum is well organized, engaging and there's even a 12 minute film that explains it all, which is perfect for the ADD-prone.

While I've experienced many a government museum staff glazy-eyed and factless, I must say - the entire staff here was irresistibly warm, friendly and helpful.

Check it out and you may even learn a thing or two - and even more surprising, you may just enjoy yourself as you soak up some bona fide US history.
