What can one say about one manager Alicia and one hostess Nicki?
You prepare yourselves for a packed Saturday night, full with prom date and Volleyball families reservations, when out of nowhere, a guy like me calls you to ask if you could (by any chance) fit it 18 parents and players with a half hour notice.
To my utter amazement, Alicia told me that she can get us in at the requested 5 and out by 6:30. And that she did.
Food was great. Alicia's masterful attention to us customers is epidemic throughout the restaurant in every staff member. Smiles and attention at every turn. Truly remarkable.
What more is there to say Alicia? You provided a great team parents and players bonding experience for 18, within a half hour notice.
And it doesn't end there. One of the hostesses sung a Birthday song in Italian to my daughter as she placed a complementary chocolate dessert before her.
Great customer service is alive and well my friends.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 12, 2015
Generally I love Macaroni Grill, and this one was also a winner. I have tried RMG in multiple states, and am seldom disappointed. If I need a pasta fix or something else, I always enjoy this restaurant.
Food - good
Service - good
Many people hate "chains" but the reason we love them is knowing that what we get will be tasty and affordable no matter where we are!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - GR G.Grand Rapids, MI9158403Jun 14, 2015
Was given a gift card, so stopped in for lunch. When we drove up, thought it was closed.
We were one of the first tables in for lunch around noon. We were seated in the bar area and the bartender was very friendly and service was excellent.
Tried the smashed meatball pizza. Wasn't a long wait, taste was ok. Was lacking veggies on the pie, but at $12.99 could have had a supreme elsewhere. Their spicy dipping sauce was a nice complement.
My go to dish here is the penne rustica with a meatball added. This is my favorite dish here.
Would have rated higher but the value just isn't there for the quality of food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Be F.Bellevue, WA0111Dec 8, 2016
My son and I ate there tonight and it will be the last time. He had the margarita pizza which was soggy/doughy. How is that even possible in a wood oven?
I had the blackened chicken Parmesan which was like boot leather.
Our bill was $30 and I gave the waiter "Rob" a hundred dollar bill. He gave me the change in $1 and $10 bills!
Take my advice and go down the road a bit and get a much better meal at Carraba's!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mark V.Grand Rapids, MI2728411Mar 26, 2016Updated review
We eat here a lot. The service is always great,
always. I've reviewed it harshly in the past but it's been more good than bad in recent visits. Sometimes it's a miss but most days the Chicken Parmesan is fantastic. Same goes for the calamari. We will continue to eat here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 12, 2014Previous reviewWe've returned (a few times) to find an improvement in most of the areas in the prior review. The service is still pretty bad. We eat here quite often and always find that the servers are disengaged. The food is good.
Aug 31, 2013Previous reviewTerrible service and a very dirty bathroom. The food was the only saving grace. Went entire meal without a drink. Never asked us if we wanted another cocktail after first was finished.

Two stars is kind of generous, actually. The food is GREAT but the service is all over the place, and usually erring on the terrible side.
I was in town for four weeks for work, and ate here FIVE different times for lunch. Each visit we had the food was simply incredible, but the service was ALWAYS slow and sometimes unfriendly.
They offer a $7 in 7 minutes lunch or it's free; this is what drew us in to begin with. While the food is great and it's a great value for $7, it was never in 7 minutes and never free. *Disclaimer, we never pressed the free lunch issue, but service was SO SLOW that it was more like $7 for 45 minutes, and someone should've at least said something to us. On one occasion we had to ask for boxes to come out with our food because we were going to have to instantly pack it to go when it hit the table - that food took 50 minutes to get to us!
They offer a $1 cookie on the $7/7 lunch menu. My coworkers ordered some, but we were later told they didn't have them ready. They offered to make them fresh for us, but it was offered with a extra side of guilt as though we were asking for a special favor. My coworkers definitely wanted their cookies, so the order stood. The cookies literally made us late for work after lunch because they took so long to bake. They were handed over by a VERY snarky waitress who said, "just for you" as she gave them to them, and when we returned to work and opened the packages, the cookies were burnt. DISAPPOINTMENT!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gary A.Wixom, MI5140937May 13, 2016
Busy and popular.
One of the few "better" restaurants near the interstate, without having to drive to deep into the city - right in front of the large Meijer store.
Decent for lunch and good for large group, but Dinner times this place is can be frustrating.
Typically a younger wait staff - who are talkative, but sometimes not very efficient.
Salads and pasta dishes are done well, but some of the more "Italian" dishes can be a mixed bag.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Just M.Grand Rapids, MI0106Jan 8, 2017
Came with my wife and son, Jamie is our waitress....
The salad was oddly enough, probably the best ceaser salad I have ever had, mac and cheese bites and loaded fries are to die for... but, noticed the macaroni bites were ~warm when I received them, I thought nothing of it, it was nice for my son to eat right away. The loaded fries came and I questioned the "freshness" of them due to the cheese that was not melted on top.
Our waitress told us the kitchen got busy sorry for the wait.
Waiting for our meal, and 20-30 minutes and we're told (again) the kitchen got really busy.... (not many people inside)
Our lasagna edges were hard and crispy, cheese was cold, chicken black and burnt....
Not happy, too expensive for food like this,
I DO NOT blame our waitress, she's the messenger and I understand that 100%
Spent over 1.5 hours here, and didn't eat mail course.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 26, 2015
Been here twice. Flatbread pizza with sausage and veal is great. Not worth 2 bucks for 3 added pepperoni. Veal shank and Chicken parmesan was a disappointment. Pile of spaghetti added nothing. Sauce had little flavor. Service was very good. Caesar side salad good. Reasonably priced. I prefer Carrabas.

I know it's a "chain", but this Romano's consistently delivers. As of late I'm a sucker for the Bibb & Blue salad. Simple, easy on the dressing but oh so flavorful! With a red wine = spot on.
