1 review for Romanos 1 Hair Salon
I go to Romanos for my hair cuts mostly because it's right next to my apartment but I've never been let down.
I've never made an appointment but I've never had to wait for a chair when I walk in, which is odd to me because I go after work when you think it would be busiest. But the salon runs late hours, until 7PM I think, which is nice for those of us who work 9-5s.
They always offer me a shampoo and massage, but I've only been interested in getting my hair cut. I always have to shower at home after a haircut, I simply can't function with that post-haircut haze on my brain. Plus, they sometimes do the hair gel sneak attack on me, which I hate. They usually ask, but sometimes they just squeeze the gel into their hands and at that point I feel awkward about declining any, so I let them spike my hair until I look like a half brain dead hedgehog.
The other aspect I like, besides the fact that I've always been happy with their work on my hair, is the fact that they don't much speak to you. I'm no mute, but I'm not crazy about having personal discussions with any person in the service industry. It's so forced and pointless. Luckily, the crew at Romanos amuse themselves as they cut your hair by talking to each other in Spanish. They might be insulting me and my poor choice in clothing and/or hygiene, but at least I don't have to answer back.
Oh, and it's $15 for a men's hair cut. Not a bad price for the city, and these guys do a really good job.
