I love Melisa! This salon is really relaxed and nice. I came here after having a horrible experience which ruined the health of my hair at Classic Images in Livermore. Melisa has worked with me over the past year and a half to restore it's health, but keep the colors I like in it. (Although she said no blond for 6 months, which was necessary). I also love that they sell Bare Escentuals thre too...I get my hair done and stock up on my makeup in one trip!

I agree with the person who talked about Ashley being snippy-- I went to Roman Holiday once (once!) and that was enough for me.  While I really liked the haircut, I thought the overall attitude of the people working there was really very cold.  And Ashley herself couldn't have been more cold and snotty.  Sorry for the really negative review, but I'm being completely honest here.  I wouldn't go back if THEY paid ME.

UPDATE 2/28:  I'm guessing the A-HOLE here, Chris B., is Ashley's BOYFRIEND.  Who else would get SO defensive over a HAIRSTYLIST?!  Awesome of him to write a glowing review of her, while trashing other reviewers for their HONESTY.  Makes me think he hasn't quite reached adulthood yet.  Hey Chris-- people are entitled to their opinions!  Learn to have some respect for that, or you'll have a REALLY hard time getting along with others in life.

This place sucks.  I'm sorry to be that blunt, but I had THE only bad salon experience of my life here.  It was so bad I had to cry to a girlfriend, dye my own hair, and eat a hamburger to get over it.  Obviously I'm still not completely over it, because this was like 5 years ago....

I have to preface this by saying I had the same person styling my hair for the first 20 years of my life.  A good friend of my sister who was absolutely amazing and a creative genius to boot.  She ended up staying home with her family and would still do my hair but I decided I needed to let her be a mommy and I ventured out to find a new stylist....

Not sure if the stylist that butchered and abused my hair still works there, she was younger and probably inexperienced.  She basically dyed my naturally very dark hair orange and cut holes in my hair.  Some may be thinking that since my hair is so dark maybe I asked to go blond or something and the color wouldn't lift past orange....Nope!  I just wanted some lighter brown, subtle highlights and I left with orange hair....and I've dyed my hair light before and it does get blond if I want it to....anyway....

I was obviously not a happy camper when she finished.  I kept saying "it's orange!  my hair is ORANGE!  this is not what I asked for!".  Another lady in the salon who may have been one of the owners noticed my pain and came over to pretend that it looked good.  Please...if I'm complaining about what a crappy job was done, the last thing I want to hear is "oh, you look great.".   No I don't....I was beyond angry and upset, and the girl just kept saying "I'm not sure why you think it looks orange".

ok, that's fine if you mess me up, but offer to fix it for free.  nope...I ended up writing a letter to the owner which I actually mailed and never heard a response.  I've never been upset enough with a business to write a letter, so when I do, I expect a response.  I never heard back.  Talk about great service!   Ew...do yourself a favor and don't go here.

Besides horrible service, the atmosphere seems cold and unfriendly.  I guess I have high expectations, and luckily I've found a salon that meets them (Umbrella, downtown San Jose).

The next cut I got after, the stylist actually noticed the horrible chop job I got previously and said "honey, what did they do to you?" .

And P.S.  I'm an EXCELLENT client...my current amazing stylist, calls me her favorite and we have become friends on a personal level. It's also completely unacceptable and unprofessional to not answer a letter from a person who paid money at your business when they are not happy with the service.

This is one of those pretentious type salons with a bunch of snooty stylists who immediately question what products you are using, and if they are not professional salon products they will pass judgment and make you feel like you don't belong there.   Also, don't bother with getting a quote on the phone.  I was quoted $15 for a service (semi permanent toner over my existing highlights) that ended up being $60 when I went to go pay.  The explanation I was given is that the color formula they ended up using and the brand of the dye (like I could give a shit) was more pricey than the one I was quoted for.  How lame is that?

I thought I would come on yelp and share my experience.

I started going to Roman Holiday 5 years ago and saw both Annie and Melisa. I regularly saw Melisa until 2005 when she left the salon. I always enjoyed both the look of the cut as well as the comfortable atmosphere.

In 2005 I started seeing Ashley and have not seen anyone else in the salon since. I usually just ask what she suggests and my hair always looks great. I have referred 3 other people to Ashley since 2006 and they are also regular customers.

In response to the earlier negative comment, you must be a real bitch to make Ashley snappy. Furthermore, getting paid to go to Roman Holiday..... Sign Me Up!

I have been having Mike and Sherri cut and color my hair since before they opened RH salon and were stylists elsewhere. I followed them to RH and now I know and trust the whole crew there. I have always loved the results and have never had a negative experience.

I have just emerged from chemo therapy and my new hair hasn't grown in yet. I am making plans with Ashley what we will do with it as soon as it is worthy. Sherri and Ashley have recently taken a seminar with the American cancer society and now have the knowledge how to deal with this "chemo byproduct" growing back on my head.
They also help me with make-up and skin care tips associated with the after effects of cancer treatment.

As my hair grows back in it is completely white and I have an even deeper appreciation for the convincing blond they have been making me for YEARS!
I plan to work with Ashley through out the ordeal of  my hair coming back and beyond. She has most caring and sensitive in my situation.

Unfortunate some reviewers have noted "attitude" at RS. I am 50 something and have been to A LOT of salon's in my life. Hair dressers are humans too and I always marvel how well they conduct themselves at RH.... Consider the volumes of customers they manage each day... not to mention the customer's attitudes as well.

Since I have no hair, I had Renee give me a facial in the back room recently... It was incredibly relaxing and great for my dried out skin.
I highly recommend Roman Holiday Salon!!!!!!!!

Ashley did my hair which turned out OK. Very expensive for the quality. Ashley became extremely snappy at one point. Horrible, horrible, horrible customer service.

I've been going to Roman Holiday since 2002, in between going to Fusion3, and Victoria's Salon. Their prices fit any budget, depending on the amount of experience of the stylist you choose.

Sherri, one of the owners, is FANTASTIC, but very expensive. She nailed every complicated, trendy hairstyle and color I chose (see my profile photo -just kidding).

Mike, the other owner, is also fantastic (5 perfect hair cuts). Also, no one else can cut my husband's hair as good as he. With Mike, just relax -you'll get a good laugh, if you're like me:  blood-related to "The Munsters".

Ashley Johnson did my hair color once, and did an excellent job; very good customer service. I haven't tried Lacy Rose yet, but she has an excellent reputation.

As low as $15 haircut for guys, sans the bloodshed from the woman who accidently cuts her finger but still continues to cut my hair anyway (thanks, Great Clips...).

Lindsey and Lacey are both very good. Good enough to warrant a trip from San Francisco.

Online reservation requests are a big plus, as is the minty shampoo experience. Accepts credit cards.

8 PM on a random Tuesday evening and I REALLY wanted to get my hair cut. It was a frizzy, long, tangled mess. I walked in assuming this was just another 'supercuts' type salon in the 'burbs. So...the girl at the front desk said 'sorry we don't have anything tonight'...I walked out disapointed but not surprised. A few moments later I heard a voice say 'Ma'am...Ma'am' I almost didn't turn around because I am a MISS goddamnit! MISS would have been appropriate considering I'm not 50 and I hate being called Ma'am. Anyway. ...The owner said that he would take me at 8:30PM...he said he would stay late for me because he loves cutting curly hair. I thought, woah...right on...this isn't some random salon and it's certainly not supercuts...to be honest it's not even on the same playing field as supercuts. Michael is an artist. He is NOT just a stylist. He is phenominal. IF you want to be educated about your hair, what products can do for you and get the best head and neck massage of your life then make an appointment with Michael. I walked out of that salon feeling like I just spend the best $70 on a haircut EVER! Not pretentious...just great service and a great cut. You really can't ask for anything more than that.
