I'll say it- I love RokBar!!! I always have fun, the music is great to dance to, great DJ's. Only wish Thursday nights would start a little earlier, instead of 12:30... but when it does get going, it's worth it!
Drinks are typical South Beach prices, so get used to it, but bartenders are great. Open a tab, get drinks from the same bartender all night so you don't have to wait around for a drink.
Believe it or not, RokBar is usually not that hot and sweaty like most south beach clubs, I don't know if they have great A/C or what, but it works :)
Getting in can be a pain, but girls don't have a problem (sorry boys). I would recommend going early or getting on the list (try your concierge) or go often enough to meet some people.
RokBar s open till 4AM and it's easy to stay till close and wish they stayed open an extra hour. (Just remember to close your tab and pick up your credit card and ID before you leave... )
Probably one of my favorite bars in south beach! Incredible music and its not too big inside, kinda small actually. Good scene and you can't beat the music.
Great music! Everytime I go I wonder why I don't go there more often. The music is a mix but mostly that great rock you can sing to & still dance. You can really dance to everything here. I say skip the BS & line at Mynt & check out Rokbar!
This is my favorite place to party in Miami period. There's always a great crowd of people, great music, great staff and the best bartenders in South Beach. I can't recommend this place enough. My only problem with the place is that I end up going too much there. Seriously.
When my friends and I were not able to get into mynt do to overcrowdness we went next door to Rokbar and have to say that it was a good choice. It was small but fun. Great place to party in MIA if you not in the mood for a big crowded Miami club.
My cousins and I made our way down here one night during one of said cousin's bachelor party. We had an awesome time, especially another cousin who hooked up with a girl here who he met on the airplane down to Miami. Now they're getting married.
Though I specialize in electronic dance music, hearing a well paced and well mixed rock set here blew me away. The DJ did a great job; no quick cuts from track to track. He mixed through the intros and outtros of every rock song. I heard commercial classics from Bon Jovi, Van Halen, and Guns & Roses to classic, hard-hitting Industrial from Nine Inch Nails and Marlyn Manson. Of course, fellow bar patrons loved when Blur's "Song 2" was played.
Lighting is simple, stylistically uncommon to clubs, but still very cool. The ceiling is lined with an array of incandescent red lights that flash patterns all night. The lighting designers of Rokbar knew how to get the lights to scream, "True Rock & Roll!"
In my opinion, the best part about a rock-themed club/bar was that the entire crowd was singing along and rocking out in unison to all the songs that night. Total strangers and I were grabbing shoulders with each other and we were singing at the top of our lungs (and the alcohol helped). Rokbar was the best time I had ever had clubbing in Miami Beach. Thank you, Tommy Lee, for having this place built.
I partied at the place I don't know how many times. The music kicks ass. The bartenders are smokin' and have such attitudes! Good luck getting in. The place is tiny. Go to have a good time and dance. I ran into a couple of D-Bags a few of times but for the most part they do a good job of weeding them out. The Rokbar is pure Rock n Roll.
Thanks Tommy Lee for openin the spot. Party 'til 4 and I promise you'll want more...
Rok Bar how I heart thee! This is the place where I met my fellow crazy drunk German friends, which was the beginning of our "European nightmare" in South Beach. We got there around 1 and there was no line and no cover charge (always a fan of places with no cover!). The place was still packed and full of beautiful people. The drinks were cheap for South Beach. Good music. The place is small though and it seemed like you were better off having a table than being on the dancefloor since it was sooo packed. But because I like to meet random people, I ended up getting on someone's table and they ended up being our German friends which turned out to be a hilarious ass time. The bathroom only had two stalls. One of the stalls had a disco ball in it, lol. Even when we tried to get in at 2am on a Sat night when others were trying to get in and the club was over capacity, the nice bouncer was going to let us in (but then he saw we had too many dudes)! Overall Rokbar is a great place to make bad decisions ;)
I was here for a party during the Winter Music Conference (http://oneoctobernight...).
I had a blast.
Getting in was not an issue (I love lists).
The music was incredible (MSTRKFT, Junior Sanchez, Stretch Armstrong).
Drinks weren't cheap, but not as expensive as some other places in South Beach ($10 for a Stoli and tonic, plus $2 automatic gratuity).
Sound system didn't disappoint.
It was pretty damn packed on a Sunday night (but it was a party). And yeah, there were napkins everywhere (peep the photo).
The only annoying thing was getting charged for six Red Bulls on our bottle tab, but they took it off as soon as I questioned it. (Oh, and apologies to the staff if I got a little out of control, but I was seriously hurting, ha ha ha....)
Bottomline: If the WMC bookings and crowd are any indication of this club on a regular basis, then it's a nice change of pace from the typical house or hip hop scene on South Beach. If not, then this review is pretty useless.
went here on a wednesday night after a drink at vita and had a blast! it was packed and everyone was dancing to great music! it was the only place in miami i went to that didnt play any house music. this place is unpretentious and fun and i would definatly go again if im back in the area.
Roc bar pretty much looks like the inside of a frat house......tons of sweaty young people grooving to some average music, in a long retangular space with some ugly posters on the wall. Although it's owned by Tommy Lee, this club boosts none of the glitz and glamour you'd expect from a celeb. I applaud the down to earth approach for his club but, there's really nothing special about this place
It gets sooo crowded but the music is great!! The door people can be as annoying as a wedgie.
I had a ton of fun here, but was very *very* drunk by the time I made it there. I remember it being incredibly packed and napkins being blown all over the place.
If you are are tired of the same old beat and tidy lounges, Rokbar might be the place to go. But good music and hip scene comes with a price - if you don't bring a girl with you or pay for bottle, don't bother trying to get in at least after midnight. The place is pretty small, guys pay $20 to get in, cute girls get in free of cooz. If the cover is too much you should try Automatic Slim's which has pretty similar Sat night scene, except you won't bounce to that many rich wanna-be rockers with $300 shirts and jeans.
I didn't love this place. It's very small and was comparatively empty on a Thursday night. The rock-music mix is okay but I prefer hip hop or house. Probably worthwhile if you are with a fun group of friends and don't want to wait to get in to Mynt. Maybe better on a different night.
