I really really like this place, and thankfully, so does a good friend of mine. So this is usually a go-to spot for us.
If I'm feeling like a glutton, perhaps I'd prefer Chipotle to get a bigger burrito, but if I'm craving a burrito that's more unique or a place that has greater variety, then I'd definitely choose Rojoz. I still haven't tried all the burritos, but I plan to. Also, I hear the smoothies are great.
Definitely crave this place whenever I think about it.
Really?! Seriously, really?!
It was dead on a Sunday night, so there was no wait. I am in the mood for Thai, let's do that.
My Thai wrap was extremely salty and where were the chicken bits. The Thai sauce was overwhelming. Not enough Thai crunch and not enough Thai substance. It should have been called "Super Salty Cabbage with Two Chicken Bits" wrap.
Yes, disappointed but it was $4.95, so I couldn't be THAT disappointed.
Man, where can I get good food around here!?
Yay Rojoz!
This is a popular spot for high school students, but the first time I came was after I finished college.
I've tried a few of their wraps and their quesadilla, and my favorite is the Baja California wrap with chicken, spicy salsa, and cilantro. Everything is made to order and your food always comes out tasting fresh. Yum!
Woo! My first Yelp review, here we go!
I'm new to the area, so I've used Yelp to find a lot of great places, and Rojoz is one of my favorites by far!
I've gone three times and each time I've gotten a different burrito...I mean wrap (whoops). To tell ya the truth, I'm not really sure what their distinction is, but I'm cool with it. All three I've tried have been really good and not too huge. My favorite so far was the Chicken Baja California. They always taste very fresh and aren't covered with tons of sauce or are just all rice.
I think the smoothies are even better. I'm a big Jamba fan, but I gotta admit I really like the Rojoz smoothies even more! You can really taste all the fresh fruit.
The price is right for a good wrap at around $5-6. Smoothies are $3-4. I've never had to wait, but I usually go later at dinner or at night (they close at 10 most nights). There's a TON of seating.
My only bad remark would be that the cashiers and manager aren't always too friendly. I came in one time and the manager was chewing out the cashier for switching shifts with someone and didn't even seem to care I was standing there. Whatever, it's not my business. Just give me a wrap and I'm happy.
My family and I really like this place. It is inexpensive (they have small burritos for kids for like $1.75) The combo is totally worth the extra $1.50 because you get beans, rice, chips, and a soda for that. Half of the time, I get the combo and my three year old just eats the beans, rice and chips. I don't spend any more here than at a fast food place.
It is much healthier than fast food though. Almost all of the wraps are good (avoid the curry one), especially the Mexican and Asian style wraps. They even have several vegetarian wraps. Smoothies are alright, not bad for $3.
It's open late, prices are average (4.50-6.00 a wrap) and everything tastes ok, i've had the baja wrap (basically a burrito) and it tastes good enough but i don't think i could ever get excited to eat there
i think the biggest turnoff is that the tortilla wraps are super chewy, maybe it seems relatively insignificant but you really notice it with every bite, so i'm knocking it down to three stars
Baja Steak Wrap: $6.01 w/tax.
This place was packed at 12:15ish when I came for lunch today. Thus, it was a fairly long wait for food. Nonetheless, a wait is better than no wait because it usually means fresh, made to order food.
The Baja Steak Wrap was pretty much like a burrito. Positives were the well marinated, tender CHUNKS of steak (vs. small pebbles of meat in some Mexican establishments) and the spicy sauce.
Otherwise, it was about the size of a super burrito, but with no cheese or beans. Not bad, but definitely not quite worthy of a second try.
Will be back to try the smoothies!
My first ever five star review.
This place is amazing. It's really good and super cheap too. When I was younger I used to get the mini beany and cheesy and it was always hot and fresh and did I mention cheap?
Nowadays I get the sonora chicken wrap and the ingredients just taste so fresh. The chicken is juicy and the burrito doesn't become soggy like most other burritos I've eaten.
What's also amazing is their SMOOTHIES. They have probably the best smoothies I have ever had. Better than Jamba Juice because you can see them make it with fresh ingredients and they don't taste artificial. I've tried probably half of them and I loved them all.
The service is great too because they're all friendly and care about their customers. The food comes out fast and the ambiance of the restaurant is great. Overall, I would (and have!) come back here as much as I can.
The Holy Frijole is my main order here and it's a meal and a half for $2.25. It's not quite what I'd call a burrito, but for that price you could call it an I Hate Denise and I'd still end up eating it a few times a week. I get it with pintos, rice, cilantro, hot sauce, and cheese. I never have to add more hot sauce because they know what's up when I order it "spicy."
The "wraps" are all right but too pricey to justify their novelty. Their smoothies are about half the price of Jamba Juice [and here you won't get weird vita-protein-erectile dysfunction "boosts" pushed on you with an awkward smile and a screeching voice]. They also have all the Mexican refresco standbys and fountain drinks.
I think they have one CD here, and it consists of Mariah, Whitney, and Linda Rondstadt [singing "Desperado", of course--just my luck]. It's a weird place, but again--$2.25 for a whatever-this-vaguely-Mexican-thing-is. I'm not complaining.
LOVE this place! I've probably tried more than half of their wraps on the menu (and I've tried their bean and cheese burrito, salads, and smoothies) - and I can never get sick and tired of this place. In high school, I used to come here all the time because I was able to split one with a friend (portion is pretty decent), but now I have to have one all to myself because I can actually finish it! I really like their Strawberry Banana smoothie too, even to a point where I can say it tastes better than Jamba Juice :P
The wraps come out really fast so you don't have to wait and hear your stomach growling for another 10minutes. A couple of my fav warps: BBQ Chicken (or steak) wrap, Baja California, Rock Shrimp wrap, Chicken Teriyaki wrap. . .even their Veggie wrap is delicious (packed with a LOT of good flavor from the veggies).
Love it!
Rojoz (Roe-joes not row-hoes) is a great place that I've been hitting up for years. Their menu is pretty weird as far as wraps go, I'm definitely not a fan of EVERYTHING on the menu but they've got a few good items. The cowboy steak filet add cheese is always tasty or for a cheap lite lunch grab a holy frijole! Beans rice cheese and salsa all for about 2.50! I dont need a lot of complex flavors in my wrap. Just something simple and throw in one of those amazing fruit smoothies! Way better than Jamba Juice. I'm getting thirsty just thinking about them!
The cashiers are really nice and the owner is a fun guy. The atmosphere is really casual and it's a good place to meet up at for a quick bite with some of your buds! Or on a hot day skip past the corporate juice pimps and go to Rojoz for an amazing smoothie. The "orangazm" is the bees knees!
Mmmm!
I fell in love with the Thai Chicken wrap! It's heaven on earth. It has great flavors, the sauce is fabulous, and the chicken is juicy!
I've also tried the Chinese Chicken wrap. It's tasty as well. It's a little tangy but still good.
The place is pretty spacious. The prices are reasonable ($4-7) for huge wraps. I can barely finish one myself. The service here is consistently good. Overall, great place, tasty food at the right price!
This place is good. I've had several of their wraps, each if extremely delicious. It's a bit slow once you order, but the wraps are delicious. What is up with saying "beans rice and chips" on the combo and only giving 3 chips? Might be a chip shortage.
I'd recommend any of their wraps simply bc the ingredients are fresh, tastes are good, and they havent done me wrong yet.
When I walked in, I liked the fact that Rojoz Wraps is a spacious and airy place, with a big menu with a variety of choices, and a clearly listed set of vegetarian options. The place wasn't too crowded, and service was fast.
Too bad then that the food was just about average :- ( The quantities are small - the vegetarian taco I ordered consisted of one spoonful each of rice, beans and lettuce. This was surprising, as was the use of red cabbage and grated carrots as Taco fillings. Grated carrots with black beans in a Taco? Never heard of this combo, and it didn't work at all! Wonder if they are using carrots just to save money on tomatoes?!
Seriously, it was disappointing food- don't bother going here. I know Baja Fresh is corporate-owned, and I usually don't like to promote fast food chains, but both in quantity and quality of food, they far surpass this sort of bad fast food.
hmm I dunno, I think 4 star is a push guys...
This place is okay~ I did grow up eating this, especially in high school after studying in Barnes and Noble... (kinda nerdy eh?)
It is cheap and relatively healthier than other greasy burritos but it isn't that amazing. Just a good quick lunch type of place, a definitely a good spot when you are on the go.
I think most of their customers are just kids after school and what not. It is worth a try but be careful what you order. I do like some of their steak wraps but Chinese chicken wrap is kinda gross. I use to love it when I was young but when I went back recently it wasn't as good... But then when I was young everything tasted good...
My first time here, I went in today and ordred the "Pacific Catch" wrap ($5.50) and glancing at the Smoothie menu "Orangasm" caught my eye, but I was too bashful to try and say "I'd like an orangasm" so I settled for the "I'll have the Mango Passion" ($2.75).
Although resembling a giant burrito, a "wrap" is less heavy, less oily, more fresh veggies, and overall "healthier" and tastier than a trad'l burrito. The Pacific Catch I had was a nice filet of some white-meat fish, which was good, but fish often gets "lost" due to its subtleness in a big burrito (next time I'll try something else). The burrito was filled with Aztec rice, deep south black beans, cabbage, and tomato sauce, around a thick flour tortilla.
Like most big burritos, mine started falling apart at about the 2/3 mark, wherein i resumed devouring it whilst my plastic knife and fork.
The serving was large, the price reasonable, service was good, the place was clean and comfortable.
Good stuff~
Oh yea, the Mango Smoothie was good, was orange in color unlike the Jamba Juice yellow which I expected, but it was refreshing and fruity, not so much a mango flavor but more of the "passion" influence of peaches and strawberries and mango mixed, also was presented colder/icier than Jamba does, they're no match for Jamba Juice though.
This place has a pretty good salad called the Garden of Eatin' salad. This means a lot coming from someone who hates salads and sees it as rabbit food. But I probably only like this one because it's loaded with avocado, rice, and cheese. You can make it even better by adding chicken!
The pesto chicken wrap was a bit too oily and bland for my taste. I had the sonora chicken wrap years ago and was not a fan, but I may try it again soon. My favorite wrap so far is the Baja California with steak. Since this place is cheap, quick, and so close to where I live...I am on a quest to try everything appetizing I see on the menu.
Super tasty stuff. I like that they put the guacamole into the quesadillas rather than on top of it.
As embarrassing as it is to order, the *ahem* "Mini Beany Cheesy" is pretty dang tasty, and is perfect to go along with the quesadilla. Get it hot, you wont regret it.
These wraps are great, and the price is right. I like going here for lunch sometimes. The staff is friendly, and the smoothies are great too!
The food gets 5 stars. the service gets 2. This place makes fantastic wraps (try the Chinese Chicken Salad wrap or the My Thai for a delicious asian wrap), and they are ridiculously cheap. I come out of that place full after spending less than 6 dollars
The main problem I have is with the woman who works there every time I go. once upon a time, they had a pitcher full of water and cups for you to use if you didn't order a drink. Now, my friends and I all asked for some water WITH OUR ORDER and she simply ignored the request. After getting the food (fast, by the way), we each individually went up to the register, and every time one of us approached her she seemed to suddenly remember a task she had to do that took her to the back room. Even though we specifically and repeatedly asked her for a glass of water, we came out of that place thirsty.
Aside from that, just know that you're getting a cheap meal that's a very yummy alternative to traditional fast food.
Interesting flavors for a wrap if your order carefully
Lone Star BBQ Wrap caught my eye and the flavor profiles didn't disappoint. The combination of corn salsa, mashed potatoes, beans, bbq sauce and a tomato tortilla was unique and very tasty. I had a serious issue with the chicken as it was hard and gristly in mine, but after pulling it out the rest was so good i forgot all about it. I would get this again with no chicken and pinto beans instead of the black beans.
My Thai Chicken wrap also very fresh and tasty but an abundance of bean sprouts took away from the experience so I would order sans sprouts next time.
Restrooms could use some more attention from management.
Dog Friendly - Three paws for a couple shaded tables near the street side
I looove this place. I work near this restaurant so when I get the chance, I head on over. I love the Texas roundhouse BBQ steak wrap? I'm sure I got the name wrong but has huge chunks of steak, mashed potatoes, BBQ sauce, and corn salsa, all wrapped up in a red tortilla. Yum Yum. Wraps are only about $5-$7 and they're pretty good sized. Whatever you do go before 2pm, if you don't want the high school rush.
I love their garden salad with steak. It has everything a healthy eater could want: including rice and beans (whole protein and plenty of vitamin B) not to mention Avocado (good for beautiful skin and robust libidos). The Aztecs, ever ones for descriptive terms, called the gnarly skinned avocado "ahuacatl" which colorfully translates into "testical tree" and would not allow their unmarried girls to romp around outdoors during the avocado harvest.
But I digress.
The wraps are fun adventures into fine and healthy dining. My daughter enjoys the Cowboy Steak Fillet: a marinated skirt steak whisked from the bbq to settle on a bed of black beans and Aztec rice. (She is not allowed avocados until after Graduate School).
My son, ever the cheese eater, usually opts for one of the quesadillas with a smoothie on the side. The smoothies are very good: chock full of healthy eating. The Fruitlicious all fruit smoothie is hard to turn down: Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries bursting with vitamin C are combined with potassium laden Bananas and Peaches (the peaches also give you a dose of Vitamin A) and then bound together with Orange Juice. Your body will be shot into a Heavenly Haven of Health.
My husband prefers the more adventuresome wrap offerings. He canoodles about and has never found one he did not like. His particular favorites of the moment are the Mai Thai Chicken (who can turn down peanut sauce and jasmine rice?) and the Teriyaki Salmon. (He knows how I love it when he gets loaded on B vitamins).
On the good side they have some interesting wrap recipes and it seems fresh and healthy. However - the flavor and quantity are definitely lacking. More than 50% of my spicy chicken wrap was tortilla. And the Olympian veggie wrap just didn't taste good - nothing in there really went with everything else.
I guess it's a slightly healthier alternative to all the other fast food out there.
I ALWAYS get the Baja California gourmet wrap with steak and spicy sauce..its DELICIOUS. I can't say much about the other wraps/burritos since I generally get the Baja, but the food here is great. All of the condiments are pretty fresh and they grill the tortilla so it's crispy when you get it. OH, and If you like guacamole, be sure to add it to your wrap/burrito....
Location is nice, usually isn't too crowded and the cooks make the food pretty quickly. There is also seating outside the restaurant if it's a nice day. Lots of seating indoors and clean facilities. Price is pretty average for what you get...I'm usually full off of one burrito.. theres a frozen yogurt place next door thats good too if you're still hungry after!
A lot of my friends like Rojoz and I always hear them talking about their reasonably priced and relatively healthy gourmet wraps so I decided to try it the other day. I got the Baja California wrap with chicken and it was pretty tasty. My wrap and drink came to about $7 which is definitely a great find. I will be returning to try more of their items!
Top Three Most Frequently Used Expressions
1. "Boddingtons, please", said to bartenders from San Francisco to London.
2. "I have a question...", said to librarians since the age of four.
3. "Holy Frijole, please", said to the clerks at Rojoz since 2002.
This is what my usual Rojoz experience is like:
"Holy Frijole, please".
"Spicy or mild?"
"Mild". This is probably the only thing I don't order spicy; I have, out of habit, ordered the same thing every time I've come here for the last six years.
"Cilantro?"
"No thanks". Every time the clerk asks this, I remember how Cal from The OC didn't like cilantro, and how Kristen was freaking out about it at his birthday party. Then I immediately feel guilty for watching The OC.
"Anything else? Your total is $2.44".
Yeah, seriously--$2.44 for a delicious bean burrito. Sometimes I get the Orangasmic smoothie, just because I love saying its name. I think the smoothie costs more than the burrito, which is why I rarely get it. I have tried quite a few of the the other wraps, but I have pledged my allegiance to the Holy Frijole. It's the freaking cheapest REAL (ie, not Taco Bell) bean burrito in the South Bay, and it's sooo good.
I live a few streets away, so I frequently call in my order and by the time I drive over to pay for it, it's ready for me to grab and go home to watch more of The OC.
Amazing Quesadillas!
good smoothies, good burritos, but Amazing Quesadillas!
Every time I'm in San Jose, I have to go to Rojoz. They have a wide selection of burritos but the best part is that it tastes HEALTHY. They use a lot of fresh ingredients and you can custom order however you want. I love the Petite Sonora Chicken burrito with black beans, cilantro and hot sauce. The owner, Ed is very nice and open to the customer's ideas. It seems to have a very loyal following. Something about the burritos call me back every time and I'm from LA where we have burritos galore.
HOLY GUACAMOLE!!! (Yeah, that was cheesy and I said it!) =)
I've been here a few times...and all you need to know is ignore the large board of wraps...look at the little chalk board to the right of the cash register with the tacos listed on it. You must...MUST...try the steak tacos!!! It doesn't matter if you have the regular or grande (although I'm all about the cheese and avocado!) The steak is awesome! Very moist and tender. It is a good size, too...and the price is right. ($2.25 regular & $3.05 grande) Won't break the bank. 2 grandes are a meal.
I also recommend the Power Blend Smoothie. Yeah, it is the "healthier" option, but surprisingly delicious!
Note: My friend had the Sonora Marinated Chicken Wrap and it was pretty yummy, too...so I'd recommend that if you HAVE to get a wrap.
I love this place. Their wraps are healthy and delicious. It is not that pricey either!
So I tried to go here for lunch today, it's really close to my work and I've never been but I was reading the reviews and decided to test it out... granted, today is NYE but they didn't have any sort of holiday signage for their special hours...
So I walk in and look around, there are still people in there and it's a little after 4 and the woman behind the cash register yells at me and tells me "Ma'am! Ma'am! We Are Closed!" ummm what? the door's open, people are still sitting here eating and waiting for their orders... wtf? That's it, I knew I never tried this place for a reason... why don't you lock the doors if you're closed? or maybe put the holiday hours up?
Good wraps! I only get the same one every time, but every time is hits the spot. I get the Pesto one! In a tomato tortilla. They have never screwed up my customizations. Good stuff!!
I took one star because one day I tried to call in an order and the girl's English was so bad that it was annoying. I had to wait to order when I got there and wait which sucked because I was in a rush. Oh well. . . . overall, this place has good quick food for a nice price.
Super inexpensive, fresh, and delicious. I've been coming here since high school. Now that I'm in college, I actually make trips back to San Jose just for Rojoz. The portion sizes are great and they don't charge for add-ons or substitutions most of the time. And their smoothies are cheaper and better than Jamba Juice. A great find. I wish they would open more!!!
Thank you fellow Yelpers for your recommendations to this great, bow-down-to-you wrap place! I tried the Rock N' Rolled Shrimp Wrap which was really good! If you like shrimp, this is your wrap. It comes with beans, rice, and salsa. Husband ordered the Besto Pesto and his friend ordered the Baja Steak wrap which reminds me of Baja Fresh's, Baja Burrito. They both enjoyed their wraps. That's all it really is....a fancy schmancy but delicious burrito. Mango Passion smoothie also compliments the wrap.
My conclusion: Good prices, clean restaurants, delish food and smoothies!
I've wanted to try this place out since I saw it here on Yelp. I had seen it before but nothing ever really drew me to it. Talked my friend into trying it with me. She's not a very adventurous eater so I sent her the website so she could check the menu 1st. She deemed it ok and we went.
The place is clean and well laid out with the menu visible right as you walk in and the specials at the entrance. Order and pay at the counter, pick up your order at another counter and sit and enjoy.
I was feeling like something extra flavorful so I ordered the Bombay Chicken $5.75 and the Fruitilicious smoothie $3.75. My friend had the Baja California $5.95.
Hers tasted like any burrito I could get at any tacqueria. Mine was just ok. I wouldn't get it again. I took a bite and all I tasted were potatoes and rice. I kept eating thinking it would get better and I was anxiously awaiting to bite into some chicken because I REALLY wanted chicken. Getting almost halfway into my wrap thinking that maybe they concentrated the chicken in the middle, I realized there is no chicken in my wrap. I take the rest of the wrap apart to confirm and lo and behold, no chicken in my Bombay CHICKEN!
*insert puzzled look here*
I walked to the counter and showed the cashier who then took my remains to the cook. Seems he FORGOT to put in the chicken in the Bombay CHICKEN. They all spoke Spanish so I jokingly gave him a hard time since he was really apologetic. He made me a new wrap with extra chicken. But by that time, I wasn't even hungry.
The smoothie was good, a little too runny for me though. I really wanted to like this place but it was just eh.
This place surpassed my expectations. Christina B. suggested that we go here because she had been dying to try it, and we were all about trying new places kind of near work, so we headed over. I got the Shrimp something. It was so tasty. The rice and beans and whatever sauce they had was delicious. The wrap was piping hot. It could have used a little more shrimp, but the flavor was right on mark.
The funny thing was that they have a cash register right out of the 80s. It's so loud that you can hear it print receipts from across the room.
As soon as we are done we wander outside to see... my car is blocked by some plumbing truck! We immediately started to talk trash about the plummer who blocked my car, can't get back to work and how we didn't think we saw him in the wrap place when literally from out of the bushes right next to the plumbing vehicle springs out the plummer. He apologizes profusely and is totally good humored about it. We feel super guilty, joke around with him and hope that he didn't hear us talking.
Good variety of wraps! They have cool combinations such as thai shrimp.
Don't get the salads. Feels like a rip off especially if it's the same price as a wrap and those are humungous.
Different tortilla flavors such as spinach.
Went here for lunch today with a former co-worker and a current co-worker. Great little place, which when I first looked at, did not seem like the type of place I wanted to go to. But after reading some of the reviews, I decided to give it a shot, and I am glad I did.
The food was great, fast, and cheap, perfect for lunch time. I have yet to try the smoothies, but they did look delicious. I asked for the green salsa, and it was very flavorful.
The "hot" was not as spicy as I thought it would be, so that's the only negative.
Definitely will visit again.
These are what wraps are supposed to be - fresh, fast, cheap, and yummy. I have only worked my way through half of the menu but have not yet found anything I didn't like. The best thing - if you are getting them to go, they don't leak all over your car seat and will most likely still be warm when you arrive at your destination.
Makes me wonder why I went to World Wrapps (slow, expensive, and just eh) all those years. Especially after the embarassment of having to get the passenger seat of my car steam cleaned at the car wash to get rid of the suspicious brown stains from the *&^*^()& wrapp.
