Word of caution - I have had 3/4 inch long hair or shorter since I have been going to Roger, so I can't say how he would do on your long precious locks, but he does a great job on my short thin hair.
He takes plenty of time, makes sure it's done right and gives great shampoo. I especially enjoy the old-fashioned shampoo brush he uses and he will give you one with your cut.
By far the best haircut value I've had.
One final note you get a musical blast from the past tossed in for free. Roger listens to some of the funniest and most dated music from the 70's and 80's.

I gotta agree with Mark: you get a lot for twenty bucks: careful attention to detail, an easy-going environment, expert answers to your questions, and yes, a free spikey shampoo brush thing that's gotta be good at scrubbing your scalp.
I've always dreaded hair-dresser shopping, because I don't know the right jargon to explain to them what I want. It was a relief to go to a guy who obviously understood men's hair, understood what I was saying, basically knew what he was doing.
Check out the place some time; you just follow the barber signs by Left Hand books off the Pearl St Mall close to Broadway. He says walk ins are fine; it didn't seem too busy.
