Crap! I missed my turn

ME! right here!

Ordering can be a bit stressful. You walk in, grab a number and things are moving so fast that you may not even have a chance to think about what you want. Ordinarily this is the kind of scene I walk away from but once I saw the treats that others were snacking on their was no turning back.

The Maryanne is a delightful strawberry shortcake style treat piled high with delicious strawberries and whipped cream. You won't want to share so get some for everyone. I also had the pleasure of getting a peanut butter and a butter cookie for later. Let's just say that "Later" came sooner than expected. Awesome cookies.

Everyone and their mother goes to Roesers, they will all be here on the day that you decide to go. Patience required.

Yum. I've had this cake ever since i was a little girl.
I can't believe I haven't review it.

Butter cream half strawberry half banana is my classic favorite.
White cake.

If I want to get crazy I go with whip and Guava filling....it's delicious.

These baked goodies were deeeeelish!  And surprisingly, cheap!  I would normally spend at least $2.50 on a cupcake elsewhere but not here!  I even got a 10 in coconut cake for $12.  Yay for reasonable prices.

My fiance loves the sugar twist rolls (don't know the exact name) because they are soft and doughy, with the perfect amount of sugar on top.  I loved the red velvet cupcake - the cream cheese frosting was rich and smooth and the cupcake had that delicious light chocolate taste.  Yummers!

Did you know that 2 of their bakers competed on the Food Network Challenge?  That's what the sign outside says - it's like I eat food made from famous bakers!

This was our first stop on the neighborhood tour of Humboldt Park and although the park is lovely, I could have just stayed here all day.  I got a Halloween cupcake that was super moist and the frosting was nice and light.  I was a happy sated camper.  I also tasted a friend's Maryann (like a strawberry shortcake) and nearly had a public flavorgasm.  I bought an eclair for later and it was terrific as well.  My two items were under $2 combined, a very good deal.
If I need a cake or the like, I would absolutely go back here to support this local business.  Delicious!

Stopped in for an Intelligentsia coffee today and grabbed a glazed long john too. They DO have Red Velvet Cupcakes, for only $2! Service was good, the bakery was good too, and the selection in the morning is plentiful!

One sweet coffee with sugar & cream.  One glazed donut.  One Large Maryann (think about the best strawberry shortcake you've ever had and then make it BIG).  Oh, Roeser's.  You know how to win my love.  Thank you for providing a perfect start to our tour of Humboldt Park.  Thank you for not having that many kids running around and screaming...as I ran around and screamed.  Thank you for having a cake topper of a pregnant woman that featured the word, "Oops."  Thank you for being old school and not changin' for nobody!  Thank you for making me realize that I can have fresh tasting strawberries in October.  Thank you.  I will keep coming back.

Yep, this is your typical conventional bakery, but Roeser does what it does best, and that's putting out decent baked goods.  Creamy donuts and soft cookies along with a wide assortment of other goods pack the inside of this bakery.  Comparable to Weber's Bakery.  This bakery has reasonably priced and tasty sweets.

I love supporting local businesses if at all possible.  I was out for work, and walked by Roeser's Bakery.  I thought I would stop in and grab a few treats for my coworkers.   I walked out with two boxes of treats (1 for me, 1 for the others).  I will go back anytime I'm in the area.  I highly recommend the chocolate covered anything, but especially the chocolate covered peanut butter and jelly cookies.

So I was invited to Jenny and Craig's birthday extravaganza and being the idiot that I am I offered to pick up the cake.

" Oh yeah, totally. No problem"

However a problem existed. I have no luck with fragile things. Cell phones? I break them. Expensive pictures I shouldn't be touching at thrift stores? I break them. Anything that someone is depending on? I usually break it or end up screwing it up somehow.

I came through in the clutch though this time. How you may ask did this clumsy oaf succeed? With a little help from my friends at Roeser's bakery.

They packaged the cake beautifully and tied it up in string and added plates and plastic silver wear (A very nice touch). And the cake was beautiful, moist and had one of the best frosting's I have ever had. I think it was whipped cream but to me it was heaven.

They work off of a number system which was a little hectic at first but once they realized I was a first time customer they were really nice and helpful. I wanted to try more of their product but I was on time and weight constraints. If I am ever off of my diet though I may hold up in this place for a couple of days. I might ask them if i can set up a cot, just for a little while.

The cake itself had a nice design on it and it said " Happy Birthday Jenny &Craig". I thought people at the bar we were at might think we were having a Jenny Craig support group birthday. That would have been a little weird eh? " Congrats on losing all that weight! Now cut the cake! CUT IT!!!!!"

In the end it was a Happy Birthday to both of them, partially because i didn't drop the cake. What was the other part that made it such a special day? Because I was there....duh.

It is rare that you will ever find me awake before 10am, but today I had to be amongst the early birds for an 8am meeting - Dreaded it for the past week.

Indeed I spoil myself with lattes, but since there isn't a proper coffee shop around my hood (that is walking distance in the cold), I dashed into Roeser's Bakery when I saw the Intelligentsia sign in the window. I knew it would be straight, regular ol' coffee, but when you feel like a zombie, it doesn't matter.

I was pleasantly surprised at how extremely chipper and friendly the staff at Roeser's was. I mean, they were like seriously SUPER friendly. I figured most are on the grouchier side in the AM, but no, they were the nicest people ever, which made me feel a lot better about being awake that early.

I grabbed one of their morning muffins, which ended up being great and my coffee really put a spring in my step!!! I think I'm still on a caffeine high and everything was dirt cheap!!

Roeser's Rocks!!!

I like Roeser's.  Alot.  I discovered them last year, when looking for a reasonably priced cupcakery for my daughter's second birthday.  And, unfortunately (for my hips and thighs), I've been back several times since.

The cupcakes are GOOD.  And not just like store bought cake good, but actually tasty enough for you to think about going back for cupcakes to celebrate Martini nigh with the girls, or, heck, even Tuesday.  They're flaky and moist and buttery, and not too sweet.  And the whipped frosting is pretty darn good too.  What impresses me the most is the size of the mini cupcakes, which are perfect for toddlers.

I'm going back there for her third birthday party tomorrow, for Tinkerbell cupcakes. As I write this, I'm changing my stars from 4 to five, because they're letting me add 6 red velvet cupcakes to my order, totally last minute.  Yay, Roeser's!!!

There are a few times in a man's life when cupcakes are a necessity, not just a luxury.  One such time is a man's birthday.  Having just moved to Chicago recently, and lacking the motivation to bake myself a cake, I decided to trek down the road to Roeser's Bakery to give their cuppy cakes a try.

As I departed in the evening, arriving at the bakery around 7 PM, their selection of cupcakes was fairly picked over--only two Red Velvets remained.  This worked out perfectly, since I only needed one for my roommate and myself.

They were awesome--perfect for a birthday treat.  The cake was soft and moist, rich and sweet, with a hint of cocoa flavor.  The frosting was some sort of cream cheese buttercream--infinitely better than the diabetes-inducing sugary frosting I'm used to on cupcakes.

I have yet to go back and indulge in any of their other baked delights; though from that one cupcake experience alone, I have to say I'm a fan.

I've ordered many cakes from Roeser's, I have found the staff to be delightfully friendly, and the cakes are smooth and delicious! I had a slight mis-hap with a cake that I ordered and the owner John C. Roeser addressed the problem himself. Mr. Roeser makes sure each and every one of his customers is satisfied. This is a family bakery that values it's customers and their cakes are not only beautiful to look at the taste is pure perfection!

We had an almond coffee cake from here that was fan-freaking-tastic!!!!

The red velvet cake wasn't very good, and we ended up tossing most of it.

If I lived nearby, I'd definitely be back for the coffee cake!!!

The actual place itself was awful and I was very surprised that the cupcakes were actually as good as they were.  When we went in we had to wait about 35 min to get our cupcakes and all they had were red velvet, but they were actually very good.  The place was completely filled with sickeningly sweet creations that smelled of sugar and neon-colored frosting and their display wedding cakes were something out of My Big Fat Greek Wedding.  The cupcakes were moist, light, and fluffy and the frosting was great.  If someone got ahold of them I would definitely eat them (unlike Twisted Sister, ew) but I wouldn't ever make the trip over to get them again.  I'll stick with Sweet Mandy B's or Sweet Cakes thankyouverymuch.  They are where it's at!

We needed a last minute birthday cake for a two year's birthday party and Roeser's came through. Not only was the cake fresh it tasted wonderful. For it to be last minute it looked very well prepared not just thrown together. I also loved the fact that it was not really really sweet but just right. I will definitely be ordering again.

So I've gone back a couple more times.  Service was excellent.  Like freaky excellent.  Maybe they read Yelp!

I suspect they can be hit or miss with customer service.  But their baked goods are fantastic.  And speaking of cupcakes, they do feature cupcakes.  Usually once a week.

I would up them to 5 but I'm still a little cautious.  Don't let me down guys!

Heard great things but this place, but honestly it disappointed.

The french bread, which the nice girl behind the counter said would be delish, was hard and tasteless.

The cookies were eh.  Good but nothing special.  We ordered a variety.

The vanilla buttercream chocolate cake was bad.  The buttercream was NOT buttercream, and although the cake itself was fresh, all in all, it was tasteless.

I'm still looking for a great Chicago bakery; for now I'll pass on this one.

Family owned bakery since 1911!!!!!  This bakery is great!

The front room is small, but it doesn't need to be any bigger since the focus is on the pastries and cakes you can get-order and go!!!  It felt good to be in here (hard to do at 7am sometimes!)  Nice/Bright/Clean

Needed a dozen sweets for a work morning party and had the nice gentleman just surprise me.  Everything was tasty, well made, and fresh.  And What?  at $11.43!!  You can't beat that.

If you are in the area and need sugar delectables you should patronize this establishment.

Everything looked great, but I never got anything.

When I walked in there was a ticket dispenser.  The gentleman who walked in front of me did not take a ticket, and told more than one woman behind the counter that it was out of tickets, and was nice enough to let them know that I didn't get one either.  They looked at him funny, and when someone came out to fix it (it was jammed) the eight people that walked in behind me immediately grabbed tickets.  Then they started calling them again.  I wasn't about to wait behind eight people who came after me for a strawberry donut.

Whoa, cakes.  There are so many different kinds to choose from, tons of which are available without pre-ordering.  They even have half cakes for sale!  And tasty bread.  And flan.  And tarts.  And cookies.  And even sugar-free cookies.

I went last night to pick up a treat for my dude, and brought home half of a cookies-and-cream cake.  They make the kind of cakes that have the fluffy yet rich icing, and tons of it.  Also, they make the kind of cake that tastes good a couple weeks later (if you freeze it).

I also bought a peanut butter cookie for myself and accidentally left it on my kitchen counter in the paper bag overnight, and it was even better than the night that I bough it!

While I prefer to make my own baked goods, if I'm going to buy some, I'd like to do that here.

The bakery has been in business for over 90 years and it's always clean.

Customer service is not their best but you get what you want from pastries, cookies, muffins, loaf of bread or ice cream.

I think this place has increased the price throughout the years. The cakes are good and you have lots of choice for filling and designs for kids.

This is one of my go-to bakeries, when I need a cake for a special occasion (without having the pre-order or stand in a long line to get one).

My personal favorite is the Neapolitan:
http://www.roeserscake...

A wonderful combination of buttermilk, chocolate and strawberry flavors surrounded by raspberry jellyroll slices...good health and low blood sugar be damned!

There is street parking, and a lot directly next to the building. I've never waited more than 10-15 minutes to get a pre-made cake.

Optionally you can get a cake customized to your specifications, to fully optimize your total disregard for your health, and your wanton desire to experience a journey to flavor country. A great cost-to-taste ratio, indeed!

I became totally giddy when I walked in here.  3:30 on a weekday, and it was packed.  Not just with people, but with deliciousness.  Thankfully, the wait was about 5 minutes, and it allowed almost-adequate time for me to salivate all over the many cases of goodness.  For $10.09, I got...

-2 croissants
-A cheesecake square
-A generous assortment of cookies
-A strawberry brownie parfait that my friend and I devoured while drinking and crying about crap..  and it was so good that it actually stopped our tears.
-The best piece of pizza bread EVAH.  Seriously.  When I burped after, and I tasted it, it was a good thing.

Extra points to the girl working behind the counter for not killing me as I kept adding... and changing my mind..  and wanting more cookies..  and adding more things...  Etc.

I can't wait to try the cakes.  Appropriate combinations of butter and flour and sugar excite me so.

The wonderful aroma of cookies and pastries hits you before you even open the door! We tried the Pecan Sticky Buns, Cheese Danish, Maryann's, and an assortment of cookies. No Smiley Face cookies the day we were there, but I've ordered some to have shipped the next time they bake them.

I grew up in a small town in Southern Illinois called Granite City. There was a bakery that has since closed called Mrs. Seibolds. Roeser's brought back memories of my childhood with the butter cookies with sprinkles. I'm sure the smiley face cookies will do the same.

Everything was wonderful. Don't visit Chicago without stopping at Roeser's for a treat.

Another reason why I love YELP!!!
I had no idea about Roeser's Bakery. We are kind of lucky in my hood as far as baked yummy's go, so I have never ventured out of my realm of bakeries. I read all these great reviews about Roeser's and had to check it out for myself.

When I walked in this morning they immediately asked me if I needed help. I told them it was my first time there and wanted to browse the cases a bit before ordering. Wow, did I ever.
I bought an entire Crunch Cake $7.00, which is kind of like an Orange pound cake type thing. Then I bought a Large Dutch Apple Pie $6-ish, and a pound of the mini cookies. The pie and the cookies are for a Dinner party tonight but the Orange Crunch cake is for us and I can tell you it is awesome! I just tried it!! YUMMMMMM

I thought the prices were quite reasonable. While I was up at the counter paying, I got to peak at alot of the cakes that were being picked up. They were beautiful!

They do have a parking lot which is awesome, no street parking! They do take CC's but if you only have a debit card your purchase needs to be more than $35 (I noticed a sign about it) Each box includes napkins and a plastic serving spatula type thing (great if you are bringing into the office)  I did not feel rushed and they had ample people there servicing customers. The customer service was friendly and helpful.

I most definitely will be back to Roeser's Bakery!

I don't like cake. Whenever I'm at some function and there is cake I'm always offered a piece. But I always politely respond "No thank you." And sometimes it's followed up with some question, but I'll just make up some excuse. Because I always assumed that everyone likes cake, and if they knew I didn't like cake they would brand me a freak.

BUT THOSE DAYS ARE LONG GONE NOW!

Well sort of, because the cake they have at Roeser's Bakery is just too delicious. I'm sure I'll continue to not eat cake, and I'm surprised that I like some cake.

So hats off to you Roeser's Bakery, because you make the only cake that can beat pie so far.

When Molly told me that she didn't see my review up for Roeser's, I thought there might have been some kind of a computer glitch since I could have sworn I wrote a review. I stumbled upon Roeser's on a nice summer day my first summer in Chicago (2004) when I was out for a drive with a friend. I went in here and was just amazed at how much awesome was squished into a fairly small space. There are cakes, cookies, donuts, ice cream, eclairs, bread,  etc. Carbs are your pals, folks! This place has been around since 1911 and their clientele reflects that.. The customers are just as diverse as all the baked goods Roeser's sells. You can tell that so many of them have been going there their entire lives. Places like this make my life better.

The cakes are delicious and even on a Saturday afternoon, there are good cakes left that you can purchase right then and there. A "small" cake runs about $13. I've gotten a number of birthday cakes for friends here including the red velvet cake, the caramel cake, and the yellow buttercream cake. These things are dreamy and delicious and they will custom write your message on the cake for free. Once after an extraordinarily bad day, a friend and I went there and I got a cake decorated with the words "Leigh is awesome!" I should get one and give it right back to them that says "Roeser's is awesome!"

DEEELICIOUS!

I needed a cake early one morning for a co-worker's last day. I yelped bakeries and then picked the option "open now" (it was 6:30 am) I was happy to find this little gem - and it was on my way to work! - SCORE

I picked up an 8" chocolate layer cake with white buttercream frosting. The young gentleman who helped me asked if I wanted him to write a message on the top... "Yes" I said, delighted at the extra effort! The staff is super nice (4 people asked me if I needed additional help while I was waiting for the personalization) For good measure I threw in a cinnamon roll to eat on my commute. It was absolutely Yummy with tons of glaze!

The cake was a big hit. My co-worker loved it, in fact she cut into the cake as soon as it was presented to her - gotta love cake for breakfast!

I will definitely be back for any occasion I need to bring a dessert...I might be dreaming up excuses to bring cake to your house...you should invite me over!

I have been here a couple of times when passing by for donuts--I needed to get 25 cupcakes for an event--emailed a couple cupcake "emporiums" who would do me a favor at $3.50 each for cupcakes with initials--this place asked me if i wanted small(.80) or large (.98) and if i needed them in a couple of hours--KILLED WITH SERVICE--nicely boxed, presented, and iced...not really fantastic, artisinal organic baking--but they really TCB
at a bargain price.

I needed to order some sheet cakes to celebrate our company owner's birthday.  I chose Roeser's based on the yelp reviews and the proximity to our office.

Since Roser's does portrait cakes, we hoped that our company logos wouldn't be too much different.  When the woman I spoke with asked what colors I wanted the "Happy Birthday John" in, I just said, oh, whatever you think looks nice based on the logos.  She helped me pick good flavor combos (chocolate cherry and vanilla strawberry), we decided on delivery, and after an annoyingly long wait (I think they forgot I was on hold) they came back with total and order numbers.

The cakes were delivered an hour late (which was fine... notice I still ranked them 5 stars) after the delivery man called to let us know he was a little behind.  We opened the boxes and were stunned.  These cakes were more gorgeous than any I've ever seen.  And the attention to detail was so careful!  She matched our logo's font in the happy birthday message!  She hand-drew a goose!  She added gorgeous flowers and borders that we didn't even talk about!  I posted 2 pictures so you can see the finished product.

Beyond the initial delight, we were also happy to find that the cakes were beyond delicious.  Buttercream can get too buttery, but not this one.  It was as light and sweet as any whipped cream frosting.  The filling had huge chunks of fruit, and the cake itself was moist but not too sugary.  And all this was for about $1.50 a slice.

I cannot recommend this bakery enough.  I can't wait to go over and try all their other goodies now.  My coworker wants to use them for her wedding cake.

I love cake. I love donuts. I love cookies. I love basically anything that contains any combination of sugar, flour, water and possibly some vanilla extract.

The fact that Roeser's is within walking distance from my home is a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing because it gets me out of my home and walking, burning approximately 43 calories. It's a curse because by going to Roeser's, I ingest approximately 521 calories on average. The equation doesn't really work out for my hips, but lordy does it work out for my tastebuds.

This is a gem of a bakery and certainly worth the trip for anyone not in the H.P. area.

I was hesitant on getting my son's birthday cake made here. I spoke to Orlando who was in charge of making the cake and he eased my worries. I sent him a picture of the exact cake I wanted and to my surprise he made it EXACTLY how I wanted. When the showed me the cake I almost cried I was so ecstatic!! The thing that made me the happiest was that he made it without using fondant. He will be making my cakes for all my son's future birthdays =)

By the way my cake was a huge hit!!! Everyone loved it's appearance and the taste. Everyone asked where I got it and want to get their cakes from there too!!

I truly recommend this bakery. They are not exaggerated with their prices like other bakeries are with specialty cakes!!

I only bought two items; a fruit and cheese pastry and a small brownie.  Both were really good and fresh.  I loved that they had their own parking lot and it wasn't a hassle to get in and out.  I was shocked to see how many people where in there.  One after another I saw people ordering cakes and pastries.

Also, as other people mentioned the items are very inexpensive and definitely very tasty.

One thing that was bothersome to me was that there was so many people in there it started to get hot, but that's not going to stop me from going to get a sweet treat from time to time.

The sweet rolls are incredible. The specialty cakes are phenomenal. They run out early and are always busy. Just about all I can say. Except there is a reason they have been in business almost 100 years!

Drool-worthy chocolate cake donuts!  The best I've ever tasted!  Sometimes I randomly crave these... and I'm not even a donut person.

I'd give it 5 stars, except I've never actually been in the bakery.  A former coworker used to bring donuts and cakes from Roeser's to work every week... I miss those days.  For the quality of their baked goods, though, they deserve a top-notch rating.

Yum!

I've had many a piece of strawberry filled cake from here and it is delicious! The frosting is some of the best. The pastries look really good and I'm excited they have homemade ice cream. They have fresh baked bread loaves under $2!!!! The rye bread is sooo good!

I hate to be so repetitious, but this place is fantastic.

It's a friendly environment that offers loads of sweet goodies.  Tres Leches cakes (haven't tried the chocolate yet, but it sounds good), donuts, cookies, pastries, and my personal favorite, Intelligentsia coffee.   This place basically rocks.  And I can walk there in about three minutes.

I almost wish I hadn't found it, because two chocolate frosted cake donuts and a cup of coffee are mighty tasty for breakfast, but not so good on the wallet or the waistline.
