Oh so wrong, but oh so right.
This place may not be for everyone. Even if this place is your kind of thing, it is, like cookies, a sometimes food. But when you're in the mood for obscene quantities of the most decadently delicious *meat*, this will give you your fix.
Ignore that cafeteria line; these aren't the foods you're looking for. Just order "the Rodizio," grab a glass of water, and take a seat. It's all-you can-eat, so make sure you've followed some competitive eating preparations beforehand.
Here are the rules: When the possibly-not-English-speaking server comes to your table with a skewer of meat, you either nod or shake your head to indicate whether you want some. If you play to the higher levels, they start bringing out the really good and/or really exotic stuff, like prime beef cuts and chicken organs. When everyone in your party is shaking their heads and not eating, the game's over.
I don't know if they actually put butter on this stuff, but some of the cuts just *melt* in your mouth. There is also a lot of salt; hydrate before and after, like any strenuous workout. They probably put MSG in as well, but we're not here for our health, are we? We're here because it tastes so, so good.
If you feel like compromising on the meat-only approach a little bit, the shakes/smooties are pretty good, but their nomenclature is somewhat different from what Americans call those things.
The many TVs on the walls always have Portuguese-language programming -- either news or soaps. Brazilians love their stories just like Americans, and the plotlines look just as contrived. Good for staring at blankly as you involuntarily start doing your best Homer Simpson impression. -

I think this is the only restaurant in East Somerville I will likely not be returning to...
They gave us a 'special' for 8.99, and as soon as I tasted the food I knew why. Honestly I should have just told my friends I'd be getting a drink only as soon as I laid eyes on the cold/hot buffet. The cold entrees were basically lettuce, beets, and cucumbers... the hot dishes were a variety of grisly meats in greasy, poorly seasoned sauces. Even the plantains were bad, and dry.
The end of the buffet had the rotisserie meats that you could pick from. The lam was dry and salty, the chicken a little less dry but salty, but the only thing I enjoyed was the roasted pineapple that was sprinkled with cinnamon...
At least the service was nice, the owners(?) kept coming over and asking how the food was, thanked us repeatedly for coming, and made us feel like JERKS for.. lying about how great it was.
I think I need a water. so. much. salt. -

$7.99(lunch) for the T-rex special all the meat you can eat with a hot and cold station for side items. All the food was great and had a homemade touch to it all. English was def a second even third language but money is universal so no issues there. The decor itself was very plain and they had a big tv on the wall shouting about a portuguese game show, no doubt that the food is focus and the rest is just like eating at moms house!
7-9 types of meat inc chix hearts, dont freak they really are not bad and is very very popular in brazil! I have been several times and will continue to go. This is one of my "spots". GREAT food at an even better price!! VALUE VALUE -

I feel like it's a sign that just thinking about this place is making me feel a little nauseous. Maybe because I just ate dinner and I'm full and the idea of packing another pound of meat down my gizzard is making me a little light-headed.
Regardless. The meat itself, which, really, is all this place exists for, is good (though a little dry). Still. It's like, fuckin' MEAT, dude. On skewers. Sliced by poor folk who would so rather be at home watching their stories. Or showering. Imagine if your whole job was slicing meat off fiery sputtering skewers. And dumping it unceremoniously on a plate. In a cafeteria-like setting, where none of the other food is prepared with anywhere near the quality of the meat...which isn't saying much.
God. All I wanted was salad then and all I want is salad now.
The only other thing I remember from this experience was RIDICULOUS Brazilian reality T.V. on the sets, no A1 in ANY bottle (on our table or any other), and leaving feeling grossly full. Much like I am now, just mentally reliving the experience. -

Yeah
I ate the buffet here. It was bearable and I was hungry. They use too much salt that is for sure. I give it 3 stars, because the people were nice, and at least they had a few veggies. But this place ranks at the bottom of the Brazilian buffet style restaurants I have been to. But go to the buffet during the happy hour and it is better than eating at MacD's or Burger King or Wendy's and definitely way better than Taco Bell. So you do get what you pay for. You just got to be selective and sensible. -

Venturing out in my new neighborhood, my boyfriend and I decided to try this place one night! I had no idea what I was in for. We saw the buffet sign and figured cool a buffet lol. But when we got in and saw the buffet I was a little confused. There were no labels at the buffet to let you know what you might be eating. So I stuck with what I knew. The waitress came over and explained that you get a little card one side says stop serving and the other says keep serving.
The servers bring over meat and slice it for you, I mean this is all kinds of meat, anything you can think of they have it! It was so good though I was definitely satisfied, but extremely full. I wanted to try everything but Lord knew that wasn't going to happen! Everything was well seasoned! We even got a slice of cake for dessert!
I gave this place 3 stars because the buffet area was lacking.Listed in: Frequents!

Rodizio is the latest addition to a neighborhood that already has two buffet & grill style Brazilian restaurants, Gauchao and Minas Grill. It's the same formula, but service and atmosphere were a step up from the other two, and (only having been there once) I liked the food a little better. Their menu suggests they do a fixed price all-you-can-eat, but when I went in no one mentioned it and I just did buffet by the pound like all the other Brazilian spots do. Which is probably better for me anyhow. $8.50 paid for my plate of salad, black beans, rice, zucchini, plantains, picanha (tri-tip steak), and bacon wrapped chicken breast, another $1.50 got me a yummy fresh made passionfruit juice.
I like Oasis in Medford better than any of the three near me, but this place is pretty good. -

I'm on a tear through the wonderland of hole-in-the-wall Brazilian BBQ that is prevalent in the Somerville neighborhood. Hole-in-the-wall Brazilian BBQ is different from the glorified version. Both versions have a buffet food area, but for the hole-in-the-wall version, you have to get the BBQ meats in the buffet line instead of servers bringing the meat out to your table on long metal rods. Also, you have the option of paying by weight rather than paying for the flat rate, all you can eat amount. I noticed that I'm averaging about just under 1 lb for lunch and dinner and that usually comes out to around $5-6 for the place. One of the things I love about Rodizio's is the awesome, large wood-carved tables. Food-wise, they offer a real good vegetable selection, more than the regular salad and beets. They have steamed broccolli, cauliflower, mixed vegetables on top of the normal beets and salad. Loading up on vegetables helps me justify eating the BBQ meat. Rodizio's also has this awesome rice that has bits of beef and pork that add really good flavor to the rice.

Take out here is meh. Not bad, not excellent. Never been there. If it's a churrascao place, it might be better than their basic utilitarian pizza joint fare.

We ordered from Rodizio via Foodler. Not only was our order incorrect, but there were flies crawling through the salad. Despite this, we managed to eat some of what was delivered because the food took so long to get to us that we were able to at least temporarily overcome our nausea. Said food was barely edible however. Further, after yelling at management over the fly-infested salad and incorrect order, the manager refunded our money but wanted to send a driver over to pick up whatever we didn't eat. Not only would this have been a violation of all sorts of health and safety codes, but the idea of them reserving that food was just plain disgusting. Avoid.

I order food from them through a delivery service. My stomach was crying for food, especially my favorite, Fish and Chips. So, I ordered Fish and Chips. Also, a Tuna sub. The fish and Chips was a monstrosity. The crust wasn't light yet crispy like it was supposed to be. Instead, it was heavy as if they took a multitude of spices mixed with flour;dousing the delicacy of fish. Thus, I couldn't really taste the fish. I actually only took a few bites and had to throw it out-rightfully so-in the trash. I just finished eating the onion rings and fries, which were typical fries. The tuna fish sub fared better albeit mediocre and bland. It tastes like they just took tuna out a can and put in the sub roll, add a little tomatoe and lettuce, and that's it. I thought Tuna sub came with mayo? Or a little bit of taste? I ate all of the Tuna sub though, I was starving. First impressions are everything. This restaurant made a less than sub par impression.
