Rodeway Inn Portland Airport
2 reviews for Rodeway Inn Portland Airport
Of ALL of the budget hotels in Portland, OR, land of the godless hippies...how in hell did I find the ONE that is owned by Jesus freaks?
There is a church on the property, a coffee shop called Sacred Grounds, and, as Rachel S. mentions, Christian rock playing in the main hotel lobby. The staff is nice, but almost creepy nice...I think I said "fuck" in front of one of them before I realized what kind of establishment I was in. Oops.
My mother always uses the phrase "rode hard and put away wet." No, I don't know what that means, either, but it makes me giggle...and Rodeway sounds like a shortened version of it.
It wasn't a bad stay, though. The room was clean (no bedbugs...believe me, I checked), the location was steps away from the MAX light rail, and there's a free shuttle to the airport, which seems extraneous given the vicinity to public transit. Continental "breakfast" sucked, but you get what you pay for.

It's not their fault we showed up without a reservation at 7 p.m. on an evening when there were lots of conventions going on, so I won't hold the $300 suite against them. But they said they had a crib, and then an hour later said oh, no, never mind, they didn't. And we set neither of the alarms the suite contained, but one went off shortly past midnight and the other somewhere around 6 a.m. And then there was the Christian rock in the morning. Does a motel make a good rock venue? I ask you!
