What a cool freakin' place! The owners are SUPER nice people who run a clean, quiet and wonderful campground. I believe they live on the premises in a big old rambling beach house, which adds to the total kitchy atmosphere. We had a sound front site with a fire pit. Though the sites are pretty tight, we didn't feel crowded. I'd guess that a site in the middle might not be as private, but still not bad. The bath house is clean and features hot showers and room to hang your clothes, towel, shaving kit etc... Having camped in places that offer showers that are nothing more than a stall, I can tell you that having room to actually dry off and get dressed is a huge plus.
The price is just plain silly. They could easily charge double and still be full.
The view is stunning. Three nights, three perfect sunsets. Being at the water's edge, with a crackling fire, watching the sun dip below the horizon while reflecting brilliant reds, yellows and purples across the placid waters of Pamlico Sound is one of those things that make life good. -

This place was awesome...My fiancé and I went down the week before memorial day weekend and it was perfect...we beat the large crowd into the outerbanks and stayed at Rodanthe watersports and campground. We got in late and they put us in one of their largest area in the front of the campground. We were able to fit our 15x11 tent perfectly, had a fire pit and a table to eat on. The bathroom's are good and the outdoor showers are pretty refreshing. The owners are very down to earth and helpful since it was our first visit to the outerbanks. I would definitely stay there again!

Not being familiar with the ever famous OBX (Outerbanks), I had no clue where to go camping when we decided that was what we were going to do for our vacation this past July. Upon various internet searches, I found Rodanthe Watersports & Campgrounds. Super reasonable prices and great accomodations.
They have a bath house with hot water and showers and 2 outdoor showers as well. A place to wash your cooking supplies is also provided. They offer an electric hookup if you need it. They offer lots for RV's as well as tent camping, which we did.
The entire location faces the bay side of the island of Hatteras. Located in the middle of the Hatteras Island (well not exactly the middle but near enough), you can get to the Kitty Hawk/Nags Head area and the Hatteras area with ease. Very reasonably priced, for 2 adults it was only 25.00 a night.
There are shops to get your Ice, beer, mustard and bacon etc etc right next door to the campsite, as well as a tri-level shopping place across the street from there. The water on the bay side is very nice. It's calm and a lot warmer temperature wise than the ocean which is only a 10 minute walk away.
There are lots of interesting sea life and birds that hang out around there as well. You get a picnic bench and a water connection at each campsite and if you request one, there are various sites with firepits/grills. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, it was fun and relaxing and sleeping that close to the water was very relaxing and therapuetic. -

Rented 2, 2 seater kayaks for a week, and also rented 3 waverunners for an hour. Gave us a great deal, below the listed price.
Downside - did not deliver - we were staying on the sound so we were able to paddle home. Lifejackets were a bit worn - but worked. :-) Should invest in newer jackets.
Friendly staff who seem to really enjoy their jobs.
