Rocky's is a cafe open for breakfast and lunch in a converted house that sits up above a lower story.

There are outdoor stairs (20-ish) to gain entrance--I didn't look for nor notice any ADA access. It has a wraparound open porch towards the front--set well back from the noise of Highway 9--with a low open porch railing.

The inside sun porch is the next largest seating area and it is covered with windows around the side and back of the house. Most are painted-over and don't open, but SLV has generally mild weather when Rocky's is open. It lets lots of southern light in, but you're overlooking the dirt parking lot and the house next door.  The back side of the room faces the San Lorenzo River, but it is obscured by trees; there isn't really a notable view.

We came here for Mother's Day brunch. We called for reservations, in case,  but the gal answering the phone said, "There's no one here, just come on down!" Well, of course there was. The parking lot was full. I squeezed in next to a dumpster.  But it was a short wait on the nice outside deck.
I saw a coffee urn for those waiting, but that was back down at the bottom of the stairs. No one objected when my wife and son sat at at a table for two while we waited. On this busiest of days the wait was perhaps 15 minutes. I've waited four times that long for a Denny's on any given Sunday after church lets out.

We were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside . We expressed no preference and were seated by the door on the sun porch. There was no disturbing breeze nor excessive noise from outside.  The ceilings were high so sound didn't seem to reverberate. A smallish table for five was made by adding a chair to the end of a table against the wall. Again, this was probably due to the full restaurant on Mother's Day. I was happy to be seated quickly. There was a chalkboard with specials outside, and then a paper special menu and the regular menu. We weren't called to any of them by our server, but I had made note of the chalkboard before being seated.  It was full of your typical cafe faire, with the du rigueur Eggs Bennedict. All the meals came with the usual choices of potatoes and breads.

The service was prompt and neighborly as I've found to be the case in all the local cafes (and we're blessed with at least four very good ones nearby).

The food arrived hot and all at the same time, pretty good for as busy as they were. The food was good, nothing spectacular, just the good cafe menu you'd expect. I had the corned beef hash which was done to a turn, just crispy on the edges. The eggs were as I requested them and I don't believe anyone at the table had any complaints about any of their dishes. A vegetarian in our party had to order off-menu, but they were very acommodating and came up with an egg dish without meat.

The portions were again, adequate, not spectacular, but I wasn't left wanting.   There are other nearby cafes serving breakfast which have bigger servings (Molly's) and others which arguably have better food (Heavenly), but Rocky's is just...fine.  It's a place where you could easily become a regular.

"Mom" enjoyed her spicy sausage scramble, but said later that it was "okay". Good, but nothing special.

The coffee kept coming until we waved it off and we all got water once we asked for it. You have to ask for water as SLV is in a Stage 2 Drought condition this summer and its a requirement for restaurants.  Save water! Shower with a friend!

The bill was completely reasonable, I believe we got out of there for less than $60 for 5 people, which was a bit of a surprise.

We'll be going back, probably more out of variety and proximity than for really good food, view or service. But that makes Rocky's an easy choice, especially with good prices.  Not a destination restaurant by any means, but if you're passing thru, you could do worse.

Next time I'll have lunch and try out my lunch benchmark: the Cobb salad.  If they make a good Cobb I could be there a lot.

I love this place! Great breakfast foods, great prices, lovely old building. It's worth a 20 minute drive for breakfast!

Everything on the breakfast menu is pretty good...  the blueberry pancakes are excellent!!!

NOTE:  This place DOES NOT except credit cards.... which is a pain in the ass

If we go out to breakfast on the weekends, this is where we go.  I always get the veggie omelet.  My husband is all over the menu and often gets one of the specials.  Ask for the Santa Cruz coffee, it's better than the regular that you will get if you don't ask.

The service is always good and they will refill your coffee often.  I've never had a bad experience with anything there.  It's only open though lunch, they don't do dinner.  I like the old farmhouse and it's cozy in the winter with the fire going.

I love Rockys cafe. I went here on Mothers Day lat year. I had my newborn with me. When I first walked up there very cozy and the employees were VERY nice. I ordered my food they were quite fast, I ordered the avocado salad and my boyfriend ordered the avocado omelet which were both really good, but by the time the food came to me my baby started really crying and throwing a fit. So I spent the rest of the meal in the car. When my Mom and boyfriend were done the came out to the car with the owner and she gave me a free meal(she didn't even know me!!) This place is AWESOME!!

Nice. Cool old converted house, and it works well for this funky (good funky, that is) place. Went the other day with a party of six and all were very pleased with the breakfast. Fairly standard choices on the menu, but generous portions done well and served by a very attentive and helpful staff. Prices were great, too. Organic French roast was delicious. Solid four stars well deserved.

It is a bummer that they don't take cards, but get this - We saw the sign noting this as we were ascending the stairs and stopped to check our pockets for cash to make sure we could do it. They saw us from inside and came out to invite us in anyway, and if we didn't have the cash (which we didn't), we could just eat and come back later to pay (which we did). Wow. They're getting the fifth star for that!

This is such a charming place, while either sitting inside or out, its sweet, has good food for brunch, especially if nursing a hangover.  The benedict is wonderful, esp. with avocado, the sauce isn't too thick or creamy, just right.  The prices are pretty cheap, the service is kind, the portions are generous and the menu has quite a few selections.

The only bad things are there are wasps outside (when I went), they don't except credit and the hot chocolate is made with instant carnation stuff I think.  Wonderful though, try it for a new brunch place.

Cozy, rustic atmosphere, friendly service (though often slow just due to the sheer volume of diners at peak times), and wonderful food at great prices.  The kind of place you want to go on a day off and just enjoy yourself.

Note: They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Lots of breakfast items on the menu.

This place is cute. I went here on a REALLY hot day, and I don't think they had the AC on...or they don't have AC. Either way, it was HOT. I liked the seating, but it's definitely old. This is the sorta place you go to after a nice morning at the beach. It's cute and dinerish (is that a word? I just made it one.) Try it out if you are in the area and need a quick fix.

The ambience is great here. Even on a rainy day, the large wall of windows at the front let in the light.

The food leaves little to be desired. Fresh tasting eggs and real butter with good bread.

There was only was waitress when I went there, but she was nice enough. We didn't have to wait too long to be served.

This place was really cute. We stopped by here for breakfast bc it was too cold for the beach and it was a good find. It seems kinda nestled in a really small town where everyone seems to know each other, so the atmosphere was nice. The service was good, and even tho there was a wait, they brought coffee out to everyone that wanted some to keep us warm (it was a bit chilly out). The food was really good, I had a mushroom and spinach omelet with a side of bacon and some hot chocolate that was really good.

It's a good place for families to go to (they give the kids crayons) and i liked the cabin-like feel of it; made it homey. Overall i liked it and if i was around the area, i'd probably come back again. Parking is limited bc it gets pretty busy, but it looks like locals are good about making their own parking spots along the grass. The only thing that bugged me was the door handle to the restroom. It was a plastic hand off a manequin and that was kinda creepy to me. Everything else about the place is great tho =)

Totally decent place for breakfast. It would get another star if they had chicken sausage.

i thought the atmosphere here was really charming, like you're eating breakfast inside of an old southern plantation house, less the oppression, slavery and mint juleps.  it was however 9000 degrees in there and there was no ventilation, so maybe they were trying to sucessfully authenticate the stiffiling humidity???

the breakfast fare was better then average, really good actually.  the service however was a little weird, but pretty typical for that area.  the sausage links i ordered with my breakfast were definately some grade of poultry and not the greasy pork i was hoping for. HIPPIES!!

also, they don't take credit cards and the sign advertising this is so tiny that no one in our party of five saw it.  this meant that someone was stuck having to leave, get cash and come back.  LAME.

i'd go back again if i was in felton, it was breakfast time, it was less then 75 degrees out and i had a pocketfull of cash.

we stopped at this place because we were a bit early to go to the beach in santa cruz. it was a bit crowded so there was a wait. however, the food was tasty and filling, and the atmosphere was comfortable. the setting was a nice change from getting breakfast at diners in the suburbs or the city. trees all around, a patio, and all that.
this is a restaurant that is conducive to good conversation... a place you can kind of sit a while, if you don't feel bad for making other people wait...
