So we tried their popcorn chicken, spicy ramen, and Veggie ramen and they were all really good...there was a bit of a language barrier with the folks there but we just shutup and ate and it was very yummy...

Typical Taiwanese restaurant mixed with a typical ramen place. For ramen, I would still prefer to go to Aijisen down the street. Their stinky tofu was decent, although I think they ran out of the pickled cabbage side so they subbed it with kimchi. Their tender rib ramen was pretty good; the meat was cooked right, the broth has a familiar taste, and the had a slightly soft yolk. The sausage rice plate was also satisfactory; the Taiwanese sausage was paired with some ground pork rice and the side of corn tasted slightly off.

Service was good considering the restaurant doesn't have very many tables. Waiters packed leftover food to-go for me but forgot to put in all the sides. I want everything that I pay for!

On Saturdays, couple of my friends and  I sometimes come here for lunch after browsing through some collectibles at Frank & Son.  We tend to go for something soupy, but not too complex.

This is a good ramen/noodle place.  Great bang for the buck.  I had their O-E-C ramen, with a flavorful soup base, and a beef ramen, which was spicy, but good.  There are many items of the menu, which are not noodle-related, such as rice plates, dumplings, and such.  The amount of choices for ramen is impressive, however.  This is a good, casual noodle place, especially if ramen is your thing.

The interior is small-to-medium size, but there are outdoor seating for more people in the back.  A group of 6 should fit just fine.  The servers are friendly.

Across the street is Barnes & Noble, which we often visit afterwards to browse through some magazines.

went here for the first time with my boyfriend today, i have been watching their lobster ramen commercial on TV for a really long time, and had always wanted to try.

the place is pretty clean, ordered the beef ramen, lobster ramen and fried chicken. the fried chicken tasted pretty good, bf said the beef ramen was just average, had much better ones at other places. the lobster ramen however, i wasn't very impressed. the broth was very plain, wasn't much "seafood" taste in it. ramen and all the condiments were average, the lobster tastes like it was boiled in plain water until cooked, and then put in the bowl before serving - tasteless

when we got our check, bf asked the waiter whether they accept credit cards, he said yes we do, then bf asked how about american express? the waiter then ROLLED his eyes at us, and said why doesn't EVERYONE has to asked me that! i mean, really!?!?!?!? geesh~ attitude!!!

probably won't be back, horrible service, and ramen wasn't THAT good, will just go to another spot where better ramen is served

Poor service, had to ask for water,
Beef noodle soup gets worse now and the beef had no flavor at all and got stuccoed between teeth.
    Seaweed appetizer had chemical smell.

Our friends recommended this place for noodles and Taiwanese eats.
Apparently, they come here often so we thought we'd give it a shot. =)

We decided to stop by since we were at B&N and Rockstar was within walking distance.

A quick glance at the menu :
ramen noodles (spicy, lobster, seafood, regular, shoyu, dan dan ..not ramen...)
appetizers (mostly fried stuff that i can't remember)
     small eats (dumplings, wontons)
     drinks (milk teas, slush etc)

We settled for their O-E-C Ramen & Spicy Ramen.
I'm still unsure what O-E-C stands for but it comes with a light pork broth with seaweed, cha shu pork, bamboo shoots, fish cake and ramen noodles. Spicy came with all that and hot oil + egg ... both cost $7.25.

Both weren't too heavy on the oil / salt which was nice.
Meat was a little on the skimpy side (thin.. not thick cuts).
Ramen noodles were a little on the too chewy side. All in all... pretty good but nothing really unique.

Traditional Taiwanese food and noodle house. they have ramen too, its quite nice for a small local eatery.

Tired lobster ramen, its good,  tasty and not too salty, I liked it. other traditional Taiwanese items like minced pork over rice, stinky tofu, squid stew soup are delicious. steamed veggies are really good, and healthy.

service is good, everybody is friendly, very good place for weekday cheap eats.

There's a lot of better ramen places compared to this place. It's nearby the Puente Hills Mall.

But, I have to say their popcorn chicken is like no other. It's crispy, yet tender on the inside. This is just the way I like it.

As for the cleanliness, I'm not quite sure if they're consistent. Once I saw that they had a C for their food grade. Don't worry though. It's an A for now.

Broth was yummy meat was sub par.  Restaurant has limited selection aka no soda or boba....will eat. At guppy house next time....

I really wanted to like this place because its near my work and it has a cool hip name.

But the taste of the food is just not that good.  I've tried both the noodles and the ramen there.  The soup for the beef stew noodles is very salty and the beef stew was very rough.  The ramen's soup base is very blend.  I probably won't go back again.

ehhh..  theres a lot of ramen places much better than this but its okay i guess.  i think the ramen noodles at ajisen are better than rockstars noodles.  i also tried the thai spicy chicken rice and its not bad but again, its nothin compared to coconut bay's spicy mint rice dish.  only been here twice so i dont know much about other stuff on the menu but i know the "lobster ramen" is something worth checking out if you happen to come here.

as for the wait, the first i went was really long and there was barely anyone there...   second time, there were more people there but i waited for only like 5-10 minutes.  so i dunno, maybe you'll get lucky

Rainy night and was craving for a bowl of hot, steamy soup noodles. Since we had ordered takeout here before, my wife and I just stopped by for dinner. The owner of the place recommended the lobster ramen, which was kind of a special for the evening. For the price, it wasn't bad. Then again, it didn't completely "wow'ed" me off my seat. The other hot, chili wonton that I ordered was blend.

The place is OK, but then again, wasn't that special either...

3.5 stars! The taiwanese dishes are better than their ramen.

    Here's what we ordered:
    OEC ramen: decent
Shoyu ramen: not happy with the broth..it was almost too greasy, the pork in it was very well seasoned
Scallion noodle soup: my dad enjoyed it and said "this is how it's supposed to taste like!" note that we're a very taiwanese family and he knows what he's talking about. but this is just simple noodles in pork(or chicken) broth with scallions, very light in taste
Spicy beef noodles: the soup tastes very beefy and welll seasoned with the spices
Lobster ramen: the soup base actually tasted like seafood and my mama said the lobster was fresh! The waitress told us there's only two orders of those left when we ordered....really?

They give you these peanuts for appetizers...TAIWANESE PEANUTS(yum!). we asked to take it home with us and the owner gave us extra :)  we also got the rockstar sampler which was a platter with fried tempura, crispy chicken, and fried calamari. the tempura was delicious and the crispy chicken was the expected level for a taiwanese tea house, but the calamari was a lil too salty to my taste.  decent service, the waitress was very attentive to fill up my water cup constantly! They take credit cards!

Although we had a decent experience, i wouldn't drive far for this, but definitely try if you happen to be in the area!

This time I switched it up and I didnt order slice beef ramen.
I got the O-E-C Ramen...whatever the heck that means. I had no clue what was inside cuz i cant read Chinese nor did i ask.  I just looked at the picture and it looked like it was yummy.
    You sure bet it was!
It has like slice beef, two white things which have pink lines on it.  Beansprout and black seeds.  And some other thinly slice meat.
Btw the place has neat cushioned seats near the windows!!

1st time at Rockstar and I left mumbling about the popcorn chicken.  The ramen dishes were good, Ajisen Ramen down the street is better, but the popcorn chicken was great!!!

The price for the family was under $40 and that put a smile on my face too.  The place looks small, but was surprisingly big.

I will be giving this place a moderate 3 since I have only tried one item and my lack of knowledge on Taiwanese fare.  I really enjoyed the food they served me and the guy was very freindly and respectful.  I believe I would recommend this place.

I had popcorn chicken, though I wish I would have tried the ramen.  This was better than other popcorn chicken.  The consistency of the breading was a little more bold, robust than KFC's popcorn chicken but less salty.  It has some green onion for flavor.  It was not too moist, a bit dry and straightforward.  The taste similar a South Mexican un-seasoned broth mixed with chinese fried chicken.

I enjoyed the Passion fruit/Mango smoothie.  It appeared to either have some type of smoothie mix or something.  The drink was sweet and cool.

I enjoyed sitting outside in one of the wood chairs catching the breeze while waiting for my meal.  They have outdoor patio seating on the other side and indoor seating with big screen tv inside.  I paid $9 for my bag of popcorn chicken and smoothie, so this will not be a regular spot but I can see myself coming back to try thier menu.

First of all, let me say that, I am a white chick, and I get VERRRY self conscious walking into strong ethnic restaurants. That being said, everyone here was so nice! One waitress came around and made sure everything was good with us, and asked if we liked the food. we sure did!

The boyfriend and I went here for dinner tonight. I ordered the OEC Ramen, and he ordered the Spicy Ramen--neither of us had any complaints. Although (again, being inexperienced) i didnt know what everything was that was floating in my ramen, i still tried it. lol. We also ordered the popcorn chicken. It was lovely and very crunchy and not too fried tasting at all.

And i have to agree with everyone here, the tea is DELICIOUS.

He got the Kumquat Black Tea, and I got the Mango Black Tea. oh wowee. it was soo good. not too sweet at all, not to syrupy either.

So for 2 ramen bowls, 2 large teas, and 1 popcorn chicken, the bill came to $23... ehh, little pricey. We wont be coming here ALL the time but when we have the cash to spend, we'll definitely come back!

OEC = direct translation of "Oishi" which = "Delicious" in Japanese.
    Thanks, helpful waitress, for explaining!

I came here on Sunday, with my good Yelp friend, Sharon T.  Apparently, she eats here all the time!

We both had the OEC Ramen and shared an order of popcorn chicken and had some tea.  I got a Lychee Green Tea and she had the sugarless Grapefruit Tea.  Both were good, though I'm not big on Grapefruit. (note: when you buy an entree, they take $1.50 off your drink price).

The OEC ramen was good - the appearance of the noodles reminded me of Top Ramen (wiggly, not like Shin Sen's).  It's a rather large bowl and they weren't stingy with the meat.  The broth was rich enough and had imitation crabmeat and boiled eggs in it. The popcorn chicken was alright; I found it a little bland.

Service was prompt and friendly - esp. the older lady.
Atmosphere was clean and had a fresh/new ambiance to it; I like the high top tables and their wooden bar chairs.

I'll be back and maybe next time try something spicy.
There's also an outdoor seating area, but take note -the patio is right next to Colima Road so if you like eating outside, I hope you also like the soundtrack of street traffic.

My first ever yelp review dedicates to Rockstar.

My husband and I have been to this place at least 3 times in past few weeks. Great ramen esp. if you like a lighter, less greasy taste in a noodle soup.  hubby always ordered the lobster ramen. Fresh, reasonably priced (~$10), great soup.

I've ordered Grilled shrimp rice bowl, seafood ramen, and OEC ramen. Seafood ramen was decent. Shrimp rice bowl and OEC ramen are my favorite.
The store owner gave us free stuff, perhaps to show his appreciation for our frequent visits.

We were craving some ramen, so after checking out Yelp, I came across this spot with pretty decent reviews. But, I shoulda known better, I never thought I would go to a place called "Rockstar..." anything...

Most reviews were just okay on the ramen and were reviewing other things on the menu. I wasn't expecting much, and that's what I got. Something was off with the flavor of the ramen. Not what I am used to, compared to going to an actual ramen-ya. The popcorn chicken was a bit dry. The tea was good though.  At least I have one less restaurant to try...

Came here with some friends after church. The place is pretty small so we took up about half the space.

I didn't feel like eating ramen, so I got the jiajiang mien (black bean sauce noodles), and it was your typical Taiwanese jiajiang mien. Decent, nothing extraordinary. The nice thing, though, was that when I was mixing in the sauce, the man behind the counter was watching me, and as I was eating it, he asked me how it was, if it was too dry, and if I would like more sauce. :) pretty personable.

My brother and I also ordered a popcorn chicken appetizer, and it was good! The way popcorn chicken SHOULD taste like. Much much much better than Guppy's or Simbala's or some other places'.

I didn't try the ramen, but portions looked pretty big.

Oh and passion fruit green tea was pretty standard as well.

IF you LOVE MSG... this is the PLACE to BE!!!

I was here not long ago... didn't know why I'm writing this now...
OH yeah... I can still taste the MSG in my mouth for about 2 days...
That's why I wanted to type this....

The noodles and the food was OK... don't get me wrong...
It's afterwards... what happens to your tongue & what happens to your mouth that I'm yelping about....

After eating here that night.... I must've drank like almost a gallon of water to flush out the taste of MSG & then I was dying of thirst...
I think instant noodles doesn't even come close to the potency of
    the MSG in this place...

You've been warned!!!   MSG Lover's paradise!!

The 2 stars were for the peanuts that they give you... cos I thought
it was those NUTS that were salty... but it was the MSG... oh well..

NI HAO. is that how u say hi in china? Konichiwa? Hola? Hello? Que suerte.

So i ordered some fried pork thing.  i was expecting a classic fried pork Taiwanese dish but to my surprise it was a bento box with a cutlet like piece of meat and sides.  At first i was like huh? QUE ES THIS!!!??

then i ate and enjoyed it very much.

The topper of the meal though was the TEA! The mango green tea was AMAZING and they use real pieces of fruit.  Seriously people, stop taking tea for granted! its one of the oldest social activities in the known human history!  It makes me sad when people do not put the time and effort into AT LEAST a mediocre cup.

    This was nom nom nom,

This place needs to change their name. Rockstar? More like Heidi Montag The Wanna-Be Popstar.

I came in here a few nights ago with my dad and brother. I ordered the spicy ramen (the Chinese title refers to it as "mah lah"). When it came, I almost mistook it as a wrong order. This place's idea of "spicy ramen/mal lah ramen" is to throw a few dashes of chili oil into a standard tasteless soup base. That didn't click well with me. Their noodles and things they put into the ramen are extremely typical (fish ball slices, radish, etc) and honestly looks like something any Asian mom could whip up at home. And for appetizers, this place gives out a quarter sized serving of cold  tea-boiled peanuts. Although it's better than nothing, it's a red X in my book. Cheap

The only good thing about this place is that they remodeled the place (from the previous Red Tomato House) and the decor is nice, although nothing close to reflecting their "Rockstar" title. There is a TV in front that plays Chinese KTV videos for your entertainment. Service is standard.

Overall, I think the noodles here are sub par. I honestly heard bad reviews of this place by word of mouth but decided to just give it a shot. I will not be coming back here.

I'd suggest Hanashima down on Azusa, Foo Foo Tei on Clark Ave, or Ajisen Noodles in the fail plaza on Fullerton x Colima

I went there awhile back with co-workers and tried the spicy ramen.  1.  Wasnt spicy. 2. The broth didn't really have any flavor. When I eat ramen I usually finish it all cause I'm fatty LOL.. but I didn't even finish it, I left a bunch of noodles and broth.

Overall the service is good, and they give you a discount for drinks when ordering good.. I honestly would only go back for the drinks...

I ordered the pork with pickled vegetable noodle off the Taiwanese food list and I must say, it was VERY good.  The soup was my favorite part about it.  I also ordered the popcorn chicken and stir fried vegetables which were also very good.

The best thing about this place has got to be the drinks.  I ordered a Peach Black Tea and I hate to say that it was better here than most places is Taiwan.  I liked it so much that I got another one before leaving and also a Mango slush, which was also great.  It doesn't taste like syrup and they even put little cut up pieces of fruit in the drink.

The only thing I wish they had was stinky tofu, but you could always drive a mile down Colima and grab some at the Hong Kong Plaza.

Anyway, try this place! It's great!

Rockstar noodles - what a cute name, I thought to myself.....

The food: slightly above average - they get kudos from me for the good portion..I eat a lot for a girl, but was full before I was able to finish the entire bowl.

The quality: my pickles with shredded pork noodle soup was pretty good - I liked the broth...

The service: not bad. The guy server refilled my water without asking..this is ALWAYS a plus in asian restaurants..

The price: Fair. About $7 for traditional Taiwanese noodle dishes and $8 for ramen.

Overall, it was a positive experience and I'd come back again.

This restaurant is a better tea bar than a noodle house. The selection is pretty small for a noodle house. This place does a decent job of Taiwanese noodles; however, there is much better out there. It's noodle portions are decent, and the flavor is adequate. I found that the ramen was softer than I liked, the mixture of ingredients in the soup is at best par, and the portion will only leave you shrugging your shoulders saying "Eh, I guess I'm full".

This restaurant does a better job with its assortment of drinks then it's noodles. Also, the appetizers may be a better choice if you're just going to chill and have small munchies. The small size of this establishment makes it look like it is always full. I suppose it'll be a good place to have a few drinks and eat a few appetizers with friends.

This is a rather awkward establishment, and it's claim to Rockstardom will be far from reality.

    Nice big bowls of ramen.
    Okay service.

They do have some tasty looking appetizers and cute plates.
The space is very limited and the menu is not very extensive either.

Overall..nothing memorable.  Small little joint with patio seating.  Their drinks look pretty good.  I should try one next time.

After driving past this restaurant only about every other day, me and the wifey finally decided to give it a try. Besides the waitresses in their cute little rockstar outfits, the service was fair. The meal less than fair. Everything was bland. The gf had the OEC (OEP, OPP??) ramen which was comparable to instant noodles with a watered down soup base.. Anyone wanting real ramen will have to go to Orochon or Foofoo Tei..

Don't recommend this place and I don't plan on coming back..

The ramen I ordered wasn't the tasiest thing I've tried.  Their so-called "famous" soup base really wasn't all that, and I felt like it was watered down.  I think I would have been a bit more satisfied with an instant ramen.

Other than that, the service was nice.  Very attentive servers.

Ordered ground pork over rice.  It came with a nice slice of 3 layer pork, what a wonderful thing.

I also had their spicy wonton dumplings and tenderous pork ramen.  Like many others have said, their ramen is very very very bland.  I love ramen and the soup base did not cut it for me at all.

The pork itself again was also bland.  I think the flavor would be a lot better here if they just made it more concentrated.  Maybe try to reduce the broth by boiling it a bit?

The spicy wonton dumplings were pretty good.  I'm not that familiar with this dish, but my first experience with something like this was at Guppies Tea House.  By far this place tasted a lot better.  Spicy, slightly sour and a good combination of meat and green onions.  Overall good job.

The only gripe I have with this place was when they made our drink wrong.  Instead of making a new one for us, they tried to "modify" the wrong drink.  I'm 100% okay with that, but it compromised the taste!  It tasted like they blended two drinks on the menu together... which is well, what they did haha.

Service was friendly, but like your typical Chinese restaurants you will need to ask for everything.  Even if they just finished clearing your table and you are on the edge of your seat with your wallet in your hand, they will not notice you unless you do the "invisible check mark" with your hand!

Although this is a Chinese-operated ramen house that also sells Taiwanese food, I think their ramen tastes pretty good. I have been visiting this store several times and their ramen never disappoint me. Honestly speaking, however, I would say this is not a very authentic Japanese ramen store. It's like half Japanese half Chinese/Taiwanese taste (just like the food they sell - ramens and rice combos), but their soup tastes much much better than Tamaya.

I would like to recommend their pork stew rice (see my uploaded photo). It's a traditional Taiwanese food and the taste is so right (I would say it's even better than some of those in Taiwan). The portion is not big but people usually order other stuffs (such as veggies or soups or appetizers) with pork stew rice. So I think I am okay with its portion. The pork stew is well blended so that it doesn't taste too greasy or too thin.

Another recommendation is their appetizer sampler. This one does take some time to wait (we got all our food before this sampler), but once it's served you will see the reason. The sampler includes fried tempura, fried calamari, and popcorn chicken. Everything is made to order and require different time/tempurature. I seriously love this appetizer sampler and believe everyone should order this sample if you have a party more than 4.

Once I ordered its milk tea and it's so-so. Not sure why people would recommend their tea bar, but I know they serve shaved ice during summer time like this, and the price is decent. Maybe I should try it next time?

Recommended ramen: O-E-C ramen. Pork tender rib ramen.
Recommended Taiwanese food: Pork stew rice. Appetizer sampler.

i've never been so mad about service before.  But this guy that works at rockstart noodle really ticked me OFF (because of him i dont ever want to go back)  their noodles is alright.  nothing special.  they over dosed their noodles with PEPPERS.  They also play their music VERY LOUD!  i was there with my baby and sister and i couldnt even hear what i was saying.

    eh... me no like!
