The mesquite smell starts working on you as you park, and you're sure you're in for a delightful, woodsy, smoky treat. Then you go inside and order at the somewhat awkward mini-buffet counter. The sides all have that forlorn steam table look, and the taste matches. I ordered chili which was the strangest chili I've ever had. It was more like a smoked meat stew. Not a big fan. The BF was jonesing for chicken and had a quarter chicken with Spanish rice. The chicken was rubbery and leftoveresque, while the Spanish rice was pasty and bland. The cornbread I received with my chili was at least tasty but too crumbly and the jalapenos were a jarring note. Overall, there's just no reason to go back.
