While my friends and I were on a pub crawl in the Inner Richmond, I hear familiar 90s freestyle music blasting, leading me to make a beeline into Rockit Room, even though my friends were hesitant to follow since it was sort of dead for a Friday night.

But what followed was pretty outrageous. I bought a couple of beers for me and my friend. After my other two friends tasted a beer called Magic Hat, the bartender poured and served them two glasses and said "Happy new year!" without charging them. To be courteous, we were going to buy him a shot, but he poured one for all of us, we all took it and he said, "Happy new year!" without charging us again! Boy was he in the holiday spirit!

On top of that, as more people slowly poured in, the DJ transitioned out of the 90s stuff to Top 40, giving us all the opportunity to shake our butts to some jams on the dance floor. Aside from all the freebies though, I'd still come here again because it's a pretty cool spot: long bar, lounge seating, a dance floor, and junk-shaking tunes. I can't ask for much more.

Made it here on Halloween night for salsa dancing.  You get a $2 discount on drinks if you do a Yelp Check In here---this made for a very cheap draft beer.

The music was decent (lots of good salsa and even some timba, and of course some bachata).  With all kinds of crazy costumes and a pretty big crowd, this was a cool place to hang out on a Monday.

A bar downstairs and a club upstairs. A very nice mix.

Came here for drinks one night and my Long Beach was mixed pretty well with decent alcohol, not the cheap stuff.

I heard fabulous things about this club. Decided to go on a Thursday night and they were playing reggae music downstairs and hip hop upstairs. The crowd was a little young and under dressed or maybe I was over dressed.
The bar was crowded and it took forever to get a drink. Don't get me wrong they were good drinks but people were just crowding that bar.

I think I will have to come back when there is a live band playing it will be a different vibe for sure. Will update my review then....

Reggae Thursday was a fun experience...  The only little gripe is how late the band started (11ish).  I think it's a bit of a tease to make everyone wait the extra 30 - 45 minutes.  I guess it's a matter of packing in a crowd, and selling as much booze to get everyone into the rasta vibe.  I was with good company, so the waiting really didn't matter too much.

Great DJ'ing and bars on both floors (first floor is without the live band), second floor is reserved mainly for the show.  Lutan Fyah was the headliner, and the opener had about 2 songs before he blazed up the stage.

I came in with a good friend of mine that has been frequenting the Reggae Thursdays, and was glad we made that choice this time.

This club is located in an area that was considered my old stumbling grounds when growing up in the city.  I remember when this was the Last Day Saloon (bar and comedy club where Robin Williams used to make his random appearances to practice his big-time act).

Lots of restaurants within walking distance to hit in the late hours after a night of clubbing as well.  WIll I be back?  I think I will eventually stumble in here on another occasion...

I went here on a Wednesday room for Reggae night. It definitely attracts a more "Daly City' "ghetto" crowd (there were people shooting craps on the floor right next to me like they were in a mid-90's hip-hop music video) BUT if you're down to mix it up I would recommend this place. I had a good time even though Reggae isn't really my thing.

Came here once.  Stayed for about 30 minutes, and left.  I know they have bands playing sometimes, but not my thing.  It was quiet and slow the night we went and I'm not sure if I'll ever come back.

Heard this owner is the same one as Chug Pub, which I would totally go there instead.

Full bar, get a ticket for karaoke, give it to the 'DJ', wait your turn. If you're not a regular, prepare to wait.

Came here with a few locals, and man, the scene is strange. Got all these tough lookin' dudes singing 'My Heart Will Go On' and other mega ballads up on the stage. Such a strange experience. It was a Tuesday night so the place was pretty empty, but I don't imagine the place being packed at all.

Reggae night was cool.  I ran into some folks i knew from around the way to my surprise but i guess they live in the area.  The fact that I saw them there added to the cred of the crowd and the place.  Any live music place gets points from me too.  For the fellas: some of the bartenders are pretty too which is a great plus.  Again i've only been here once or twice so I'm no authority - just saying. -Cheers!

Obviously One star is too much. Those of us that have to endure the establishment and staff know that this place is beyond a joke. All the owners care about is making money, and hopefully, fleecing everyone that comes in. The place is not welcoming, not comfortable, not friendly. You pass the doorman and immediately feel you have walked into a den of grifters.

The venue itself is pleasant. The prices are on the higher end, but still within the norm. The staff, while curt and NOT friendly, are not mean, they just could give a crap, period. So when you order a drink, and the bartender over charges you. Its just your drink, you realize it is a crap place, you let it go. When you make the next order, and they over charge you( My bad, should have said something first), and you call them on it, You become a total A hole and persona non gratta. Sorry for calling you on over charging me, but REALLY?!?!?!?

It is a criminal operation with beyond worthless employees. DON'T make the mistake. THEY ARE CROOKS AND without a shred of actual business acumen. I will tell everyone to avoid this place, mean while they will continue to fleece the poor college kids that know no better. Ahh the Clement street bar corridor, truly the worst offerings in the city.

I've been here in the past for my friend's Hawaiian Concert. I recently came here for Halloween and although it was a total blur, the people here were really great and diverse. Also the Bartenders are really awesome, especially when they hook it up, since my other friends are regulars here. Also the Bouncers are really cooh too and nice when they like you. LOL It's a great place to chill and drink and dance. It does get overly crowded here so be prepared for that. I will come back again for Thursday's Reggae night and I heard they have trivia Tuesdays too.

Thursday reggae night is fabulous.  There's theme and event nights plus salsa lessons and comedy shows...

Fun place for salsa in the city on Monday. My first Monday there was more fun than the second, but I'd still go back. The upstairs area is bigger and attracts those who consider themselves better dancers than in the downstairs area. Toward the end of the night, the upstairs closes and everyone has to move downstairs anyway. Like most places in the Bay Area, the emphasis seems to be more on classes for those who don't know how to dance than just providing a fun venue for those who already do. As such, there seem to be far more beginner dancers than experienced ones. It is still possible to have fun, but extra attention in required to look out for those who have not yet learned to look out or around for themselves or anyone else. Those I personally liked dancing with most were, like me, from out of town.

Super chill music venue- hiphop upstairs and reggae downstairs.

went here last night and it was a cool crowd-- wasn't too packed but had just the right amount of people. $5 cover to get it upstairs and there were some new artists on stage rapping.

Had a good time overall. People who worked there were chill - didn't seem like there was a dress code. Some people were dressed up and some people were super casual.

    Shot! Shot! Shot!

Plannin to leave before 12 was a little farfetched... I had so much fun here (because of the company I had) I completely forgot what time it was and stayed all the way til closing time!!
So I can't really say much about the venue.. oh! I found some receipts. I believe mixed drinks were $9 and premium shots were $8 each... or maybe it's the other way around. Our bartender wasn't too friendly but the place was lined up with alcohol thirsty-20somethings..so I get it.

Didn't go upstairs as I had no idea what was going on upstairs. But I loved that there were couches/large booths on the main floor for friends to chill and try to have a conversation with each other! Music was bleh, not my thing.. but I'm sure some people enjoyed it.

Definitely recommend coming here for a birthday celebration or actually, just any occasion.

I feel like I am in the land of the wanna be musicians? Not to sound completely rude but I just wanted a drink and to chill out.

Security guards were island style...aloha. Besides the "aloha" hospitality I feel the bartender was a little rude. There blatantly is a check in offer of $2.00 off your first drink if you check yet the bartender pretended like he didn't know what I was talking about.

So beware yelpers, I don't know if this place actually intends to give $2.00 off each check ins first drink. That wasn't the case with me, but oh well...I will still drink. ;)

I have been here last night for the Salsa lesson.

The atmosphere is pretty good and the persons there are nice.
However, it is so popular that makes the room kind of crowded.

This is definitely a neighborhood spot and can get crowded at times.  But the music is great and they serve Racer 5!

It's usually our pregame spot before bar hopping around SF or a go to spot, when we're looking for a chill night out...

Lets start off 2011 with a 5 star review!!!

I really liked Rockit Room.  I threw my company's Xmas party here and everybody that attended that night had a great time.  The owner, Tim, did a great job in making sure that we were taken care of.   Fully staffed, great area upstairs where you can have live performances and catered food.

Although they only had 4 bartenders, they were able to accomadate all 250 of my guests without a hitch.  I was very impressed.  The owner was actually nice enough to provide live entertainments for the party.

Overall, very accomadating, reasonably priced, and spacious.  If you ever need a venue that can accomodate a few hundred people..........this is the place.  If you are worried about parking, you can actually have Tim negotiate a buy out at the Smart and Final parking lot.

I think I might........just might......... throw my next Xmas party here again this year............

What a great venue! I recently came to the Rockit Room to see Festizio play. The music and show was great, the show was upstairs with another show at the same time downstairs. The sound was great!

We had a great time. There were deals on pitchers of beer, the bartender was very nice, comfy seating areas to sit and chat between performers. This is an awesome venue to see small bands and look forward to the next show.

It's a little out there (Inner Richmond), but they have good live music most nights, and it never gets that crowded even when there's a feature performer.

Last time I was there, I got shoved by Daz Dillinger from DPG as he was trying to run from the huge crowd of 3 women following him after his set. 12-year-old me would've been ecstatic. 26-year-old me was moderately amused. B+ night.

Totally being serious, some guy sat on my friend like she was a chair and didn't acknowledge he was sitting on someone for a good 30 seconds. Then when he did get off her he didn't apologize. Wtf? Also on another note there were red panties on the floor. Gross much? We left soon after...

It was hawaiian night and hukilau was in the house serving up little appetizers which seemed cool. Can't speak for the drinks but this place seems like it can be ok depending on the night.

This review is for the SALSA options ONLY -- on Monday nights.

    Friendliness: 5/5
Skill level: 3/5 (lower is not bad, just means there's more beginner/intermediates).
Floor space: 1/5 -- ugh, c'mon man, the floor is frikkin' slanted and there are pillars in the middle of the dance space.  I know they can't do much about it but it really imposes a constraint as this place became popular and is now overcrowded.

The crowd is a mix of college kids, young professionals, and dancer regulars, so you have people of all skill levels intermingling.  Whether you're here for dancing or for meeting new people there's a bit o' everything for everyone.  The lesson is rather basic but well taught by Evan (we need more salsa evangelists to grow the hobby).

Sigh, if it isn't for the space itself I'd rate it higher.  Still go, though. :-)

Chill spot. Came out here for the after party of a reggae concert. First time and probably last. Don't get me wrong...music was off the hook. Loved it! Reggae music makes anything better in my opinion- hence the 3 stars. If it hadn't been for the music this place woulda got 2 stars.

Anyways..the location- a bit random, not the best prime location. Other than a few good restaurants and ghenki on the same street thats all the location has goin.

Venue- small. we only stayed downstairs. Very small and got crowded fast. The bar tenders were super nice and we even got some free shots! Up front they had the stage and a mini dance floor. Totally amusing how there was an elderly lady totally groovin to her own tune lol. Bathrooms- gross. Since there were so many people they were disgusting and clogged and just ew.

I definitely enjoyed the music here, for this one special event. Not sure on if i will be returning. Hopefully you'll have better luck!

**LAID BACK VIBE WITH GOOD PEEPS AND TUNES**

A friend's neighborhood watering hole, we ventured inside and to my delightful surprise, it was dark, filled with locals, and a live band, singing Radiohead.

    Me like.

Cute blond bartender made one of the best Manhattan cocktails I have ever had. She was GOOD. Had to order another.

There was a backroom covered with black garbage bags which made the bar more appealing in a divey way.

Enjoyed the live band, the Manhattans, and deep conversations.

    RECOMMEND.

This is a great place to see a show.  We come to their reggae Thursdays regularly.  I would have given this place a 5 star but I had an experience which left a bad taste in my mouth the last time that I went.  We were there to see Rootz Underground.  I had been dealing with the woman bartender all night.  She had been charging me $6 for my drink.  The last time I went back to the bar she was on a break and I had the man make me the same drink.  He then charged me $7.  I asked him why and he made up some BS response.  I hate it when bartenders try to rip you off.  Seriously next time I will drink before I come to the show and they are going to make less money.  I would suggest you always order your drinks from the woman at the bar not the douche bag looking man unless you like to pay more for your drinks.

Fun spot to see a small band play.  Rockit is something you'd expect to find in the MIssion or maybe Inner Sunset, but it almost feels "too cool" for the Inner Richmond.  Layout's a little funky but I liked how you could get a table out of the way, yet close enough to see and hear the band just find.

Downstairs - the bar currently has some construction going on, but still great drinks and good service.

The crowd was wonderful last Monday: super friendly, no need to stay on creeper alert (until later in the night, at which point I needed to go home and sleep anyway) and lots of good dancers with tons of energy.  The floor is slanted and there is alcohol available.  These things usually make for a pretty sloppy crowd, but surprisingly, everyone kept it together.

The music was a little funky but the drinks are cheap and the cover is cheaper.  The DJ's choices seemed to help keep the atmosphere clean and discouraged groping hands--no merengue the entire night, which I appreciate as someone who was just there to dance (though I could have used a few more bachata songs).  Plenty of room to hang out when you don't feel like dancing, the music wasn't ridiculously loud, and the dance floor was open enough to shake what your mama gave you, albeit with a bit of caution to avoid accidentally getting skewered by a rogue stiletto.  All in all, best "salsa night" at a bar that mostly does other things that I've been to in a while.
