This studio is the reason I am so into fitness.
I started a memberships here about a year ago and sadly moved away so I had to cancel, but it is probably one of things I miss most about living in the south bay.
The studio itself is amazing...clean, nicely decorated, and the machines are the best out there.
The classes are INTENSE. Not only are they a full body, toning, workout, they also incorporate cardio, so you get the complete package. The music is a great touch, because most pilates classes i have been to don't play heart-pumping music.
The teachers are the best. Kaci is great for legs, Ellina works your abs very hard, and Kelly and Brynn teach awesome barre/spx classes.
The schedules are good too, there are a lot of times, but I wish they offered more on weekends.
The only downside is the membership is 200 a month with a 3 month contract. Honestly though, it is so worth it. All you need is a membership here, no need for a gym membership.
Also, go with the monthly memberships, a much better deal than the packages. I wish they offered cheaper single classes so that I could go when I visit LA!!! -

I did the month intro here and really enjoyed it. It is HARD- I leave shaky and dripping in sweat, but feeling like a superhero. It seems the people who go here have attended for awhile as they're all super fit and way more advanced then me, but when I asked for alternatives and the instructors are always willing to help me out.
I seem to built muscle fast and my jeans got tighter rather than loser, making me wonder if I could do less weight/more reps on the machine, since each move is timed, not counted by reps. I was too embarrassed to ask about this, and would have appreciated the instructors offering up less weight options more often.
I liked the barre classes they offered A LOT and in fact, think my body enjoyed the less weight/more cardio option to mix-up. -
Review from Olga D.
Periodically feeding my fitness class Groupon-mania, I purchased a 3-class deal for $30 at RockiIt Body Pilates. These classes are intense... I was concurrently taking Pilates at a studio in Sherman Oaks, where instructors concentrate more on the right form and slow movements. RockIt Body Pilates is essentially a cardio class and that's not a bad thing, but very hard to keep up with for a beginner like myself. After having spent most of this year rehabilitating my knee, I am much more concerned with proper form, and it was very hard to do that at this studio as exercise sequences where switched fast and I constantly felt like I was behind. But, classes are filled with very fit women, so I'm sure it works after you get used to the pace.
Also, I felt very little guidance during all three classes, even though they knew I was new. I often had to watch my neighbors to see what I am supposed to be doing. I don't need hand-holding, but having more direction would have helped. Perhaps, part of it is the studio layout... they have 12-14 reformers and all of them stacked side by side, so the instructor has to move a lot and cannot see the entire class. The studio I go to now has only 8 reformers and they are stacked in two rows, so the instructor has a better view of the entire class from every spot in the room.
Class availability is pretty good, but they only let you sign up a week in advance, so you always have to remember to make your appointments. There is a 12-hour cancelation policy (standard for Pilates places), otherwise you get charged for a class.
This would have been a convenient option for me after work before I get onto 405 for a long drive home, but the bottom line for me... they are just way too expensive. Perhaps, it's comparable to other Pilates studios in South Bay, but I bought a twice-a-week membership at a Sherman Oaks studio with only 8 reformers for $125/month with no contract. RockIt Body Pilates only offers unlimited memberships and it costs $199 for 3-month auto-pay plan or $249 month-to-month. Pricey, unless you take classes 4-5 times per week.
I was debating on whether to give this place 3 or 4 stars and couldn't decide. So if I could, I'd give them 3.5 stars for very limited instructions for newbies and steep prices. But since I can't give them 3.5, I'll round it up to 4, since 3 wouldn't be fair either:) -

I had been dying to try out Rockit Body at the Redondo Beach location since it opened, and finally made it in last week. SO SO glad I did! I have done 3 of the All Level Pilates classes, and have left each time dripping in sweat and feeling like I worked every part of my body. I am addicted! I have already scheduled my classes for the next 2 weeks, and am constantly checking my schedule to see if I've gotten into my waitlisted classes. I have done a lot of different classes throughout the years, from circuit training to barre to yoga, and Rockit Body has been by far my favorite, and most challenging. You are so focused on your strength the entire class, that you would be surprised how quickly 50 minutes goes by. I felt a little uncoordinated the first class, as I was getting used to the machines, but am definitely feeling much more comfortable after only 3 classes.
I was a little worried at first that it would be hard to get into classes, as there's only 10 spots per class, but so far I have had no problem. I actually like the fact that I will get charged a late fee if I don't show up for my scheduled class because it forces me to go and not be lazy, and it's definitely worth getting the intense workout. The studio is very clean, and all the instructors have been amazing!
I would definitely recommend Rockit Body to anyone that is looking for an intense, fun, full body workout. I am counting the hours till my next class! Bring on the sweat! -

I love Rockit Body Pilates BEST WORK OUT EVER !!!!!
I have had many memberships and personal trainers but this place is the best!!!
Instructors are fun and upbeat always and they remember your name i LOVE that.
You get your monies worth!!!! Monthly membership $200.00 go 4-5X a week it is only $9-$12 per class and it is semi personal training, fun exciting, and it WORKS!!! (The late and cancellation charges are crazy high though i think we should get a 1 or 2 chance for emergencies....but only emergencies ....that charge gets my butt to class when i dont want to go!!!!
If you have a question.. ask... they always help ... if you need to slow down or take a break there is no judgement....the class is for ALL level not just beginners
I started with the all levels and i obviously could not keep up but everyone in the room understands its hard !!!! -

After I posted this review, I received a call from Rockit Body apologizing for my recent experience there. I had canceled all classes and they offered to extend the date of my package. I can't say that I have a huge desire to go back but I do respect their effort to retain their clients and offer to compensate me for my poor experience there.

Joseph Pilates would be proud. This is my second week taking the classes there 3x a week and let me tell you this works out your entire body like no other. In fact, I can't wait till the weather warms up so I can show off my newly toned booty and maybe use it to crush beer cans.
During each class, I'm thoroughly exhausted and ready to throw in the towel after 30 minutes, but after EVERY class, I feel fantastic and at least 5 pounds skinnier. If I had to describe the classes it would be a pilates/strength/circuit/dance combo or.... PILSIRCUD. I leave class drenched in sweat, with shaking legs and exhausted abs (thank you scrambled eggs and endless lunges - my "fave" exercise ever) Ok, seriously though if you're like me and have been hitting 24hour for years and not seeing results switch it up and try Rock it Body because after only two weeks my body is already changing.
Note: You can always tell how effective a class is by looking at the instructors, and ALL of the instructors here are very fit. Believe me, I've taken classes before where the instructors had beer bellies, it kind of made me doubt the effectiveness of the class.
On another note: It's expensive monthly, I did the intro $159 for new customers but its $200 or more a month after that 1 month unlimited intro. I searched all around the South Bay and the prices are all about the same for Pilates reformer classes. I do want to continue after my month so I guess I just have to figure out a way to fork over that 200 each month. -

This place is very clean and has ample parking, but I don't feel it's very "beginner" friendly. I do not feel that the instructors pay much attention to newbies who need a little extra encouragement and/or guidance..
We all have to start somewhere, and I think that if they would pay a little more attention to correcting and motivating the newer students they'd have more of a following of clients such as myself who have an income and a desire to get in shape.. but also work full-time. -
Review from Vicki D.
Lately, this is my go to workout. I have a monthly membership and it is probably the best thing I've ever done for my post-two-babies belly. I didn't realize how out of shape my core was (and my abs for that matter) until I came here and now I am hooked. I can see results already after two weeks.
The classes are 50 minutes of constant sweat. You tire one muscle group at a time and after class you can feel the burn and work for hours! You have to go on the website and sign up for classes ahead of time, as there are limited machines. Right now I attend mostly Ellena's classes, and she is really good! I've also tried Kaci's class and she was awesome. Don't think you will be disappointed with any instructors here.
The only drawback is the price but I will say that it is totally worth it, and less than private pilates, especially if you buy the monthly plan.Listed in: Fit & Fabulous in Los Angeles

Rock it Body PIlates rocks!
This place will get you in shape. I am definitely not flexible or in shape so I struggle to keep up in every beginner class that I go to. It's a really tough workout but after 50 minutes, you really do feel pretty good.
I have worked out with Ellina, Kaci, and Amber. They are all great instructors. They are tough, funny, and motivating. They will get you in shape.
The website is pretty good for reserving your space ahead of time.
It's a bit pricey but compare it to a high end gym and it's not too bad. -
Review from Muriel A.
I went into my first class at Rockit body feeling confident. I'm at my gym 5 days a week and I have done tons of yoga and rocked it. I was humbled. This crap is hard! I have never done a more intense core work out! My first class was the longest 50 mins of my life. Brandi played awesome music and was tough but motivational. I can't wait to take more classes here.
Rockit Body will kick your butt. -
Review from Diana H.
I'm not a wimp when it comes to working out and work out classes. I made the mistake of underestimating this class. I came in thinking - "Only 50 minutes?! You're kidding me. I can handle barre class with no problem and 90 minutes of bikram yoga - this will be a breeze." Big mistake. I got my butt kicked my first class. My abs were so sore afterwards, that I could barely do a sit up. It is an amazing workout. I wasn't sore at all after my 2nd class - but I was still doing a beginner's class and the teacher toned it down for all of us newbies. However, I'm still not sure if I want to graduate out of the beginner's class yet.
This is an amazing workout - I can see how this will tone up your body like crazy. The 2 teachers I had were super peppy (necessary!!) and a little tough (sometimes good, sometimes bad).
I'm docking it a point because of the price, but I'd rather pay for this monthly membership than go to a fancy gym.
I'm looking forward to using the rest of my classes on my Groupon!! -

I love RockitBody. I love the way I feel after class which is IN SHAPE!
Its a hard class. I've been going for a year now and I even will catch a beginner class and still get a great work out. Since I've started, I notice the muscles in my stomach and arms are more defined, shaping of my thighs (hardest part) and overall better health; sleeping better and, most importantly, a strong core!
I should also say -- I greatly dislike working out. But, I have to as I have one of those bodies which easily gains weight. This is the only class/place that I have gone to where I look forward to going back!
The instructors are great too. They will correct you if your form is off -- very important in reshaping your body -- and they are super inspirational and helpful. Unfortunately, in the past couple of months, a lot of great instructors have left, but the ones there still are awesome.
They've recently added "Rockit Recess" which is more cardio based as the original Rockit work outs aren't too cardio heavy. (I still belong to a gym to do the elliptical 2-3 times a week).
Now, why 4 stars instead of 5 you ask? Couple of downsides:
Its a bit expensive. Month to month its $199 for me. Doesn't stop me from doing it but it can be cost-prohibiting for some.
You have to schedule your classes way in advance. (Their online website is easy to use to schedule). Rockit Body use to have a 24 hour cancellation policy which they have recently changed to 12 hours. (much better). But, you will pay $25 if you don't show up. It's also difficult to schedule a class last minute if your plans change. And, I do wish they offered a few more afternoon classes during the week.
But, if you can afford, want to reshape yourself and have fun doing it, Rockit Body may be the place for you. -

I tried this place out from Groupon and am so HAPPY that I did.
RockIt body Pilates was such a great workout and I would LOVE to continue to do it, becasu the classes were sweat inducing and challenging nd I felt sore all over! The very good sore feeling!
However, the only thing for me is that this place is just too far a location and it is a bit pricey! I would join and go more often If only they docked $50.00 more off of membership or build one near Santa Monica, otherwise I'm gonna find another place like this on the westside to go to.
oh and just remember when you book an appointment make sure you go or they charge you for no show.
Update 1/18/2011 - I bought a 1 day pass from GROUPON for $15.00 and they wouldn't let me use it cause I had already visited the studio. According to them, the specials are only for new customers. I still think it's a great type of workout on the reformer, but for the same workout, I'll go elsewhere. so... does anyone want to buy my $15.00 dollar Groupon?! ;) -

I am not sure where the negative reviews are coming from, because I have had nothing but amazing experiences at Rockit Body! What I love most are the well-trained and enthusiastic instructors who make working out fun. The music also adds a nice flair that most gyms or studios do not have; it really gives Rockit Body that edge.
Also, I am not sure why people are complaining about the prices: it's pretty much the best deal in town- $199 UNLIMITED for a month? I am a poor, aspiring academic and this does not seem unreasonable to me.
ps. What studio doesn't have a cancellation policy? I feel that this is perfectly resonable, given there is often a waiting list on full classes.
As a very fit person myself, a swimmer for many years, dancer, runner, and equestrian, I am no stranger to butt-kicking workouts. Ever gone to morning swim practice at 5 am? Well, this is the closest thing you are going to get to that kind of pain. Rockit Body Pilates gave me abs like those Spartans in the movie 300 faster than anything I have ever done before.
If you want to rock your world in all the right places, do sign up! It will change your life like it changed mine. -

Most of the instructors are very nice, knowledgeable, effective--but a few instructors are very unprofessional. They come in unkempt, they don't have their music prepared, and they teach the class in a really condescending manner. The workout is great, but many of the machines are in poor condition and despite repeated requests to the management to fix the uneven straps or replace dilapidated parts, they do not. They rarely sweep the floors nor sanitize the machines apart from the cursory swipe-down that members do after class. For the amount of money they charge for classes, they should at least provide well-kept machines. I have had numerous problems with the management--their no-show fee is excessive, their account-freeze policy is unfair, and they erroneously charged my credit card a full month's fee AFTER I had quit the studio.

I really enjoy classes by Kelly, Kaci Brynn and Jasmine.

Today I walked to class in then dark and was the first one there.... I had been confirmed on the wait list and had an email to prove it... After being in class for about 15 minutes I was asked by the instructor to get up and leave. She never mentioned my name was not on the confirmed list .. When I showed the instructor my confirmation she told me to get out

I was looking for a new workout to try and saw the groupon for RockIt Body. I bought the 5 pack of classes and signed up for all of my classes at once. I used to look at the skinny "LA" moms and wannabe actresses that took pilates and turned my back in scorn but I have a newfound respect for those ladies - this is an extremely good workout and I was sore for DAYS. I've now gone to 2 classes and have enjoyed each. Brandi is great and plays awesome music - she'll pump you up and keep you going. Kaci is excellent as well but her class is more mellow music and tempo. Can't wait to use my last 3 classes!

The studio had changed. I don't like this place anymore. - - Today
Classes always full. I have to book classes a week in advance or don't even dreaming to get in. There is no class in the convenience time such as late morning 11am anymore.
If there is not enough people in the class the studio will cancel the class that you booked and you have no chance to get in to other classes that day. BUT If you do cancel they called "late cancel" in less than 24 hr. before class time, there will be a strict charges of $25 even though the studio filled up with people from the wait list. I don't recall getting $25 refund back in my account when the class that I booked had been cancelled!
I totally agree with Rebecca F. for the late cancel policy. 1-2 times late cancel fee waive/month or 6-8 hr. before class time before it kick in to late cancel is a much more reasonable.
The instructors are quite new and still "LEARNING" while they teaching the classes. The cute manager Bethany and Christine who had set the atmosphere of the "neighborhood studio" were gone.
The owner is the worst of all. If she's in the studio then she nags her employees and the clients both to follow her "rules". To the point that makes clients feel uncomfortable. You have to buy their socks and no shoes in the studio for clients but managers and owner walking around with their sneakers on!
I'm looking for other places for an alternative now. Recommend me if you know a good one. -

If you want an intense workout this is for you. I started doing this about a month ago and it kicks my A$$ every time! I have seen more results in the last month than I have working out for the last 2 years with a trainer. I sweat from beginning to end and drink an entire big bottle of water before the 50 minute class is over. Surprisingly, it works your entire body: legs, abs, arms, back, shoulders and I usually can't move the next day. I love this place and the price is fairly reasonable as well.

ok so i'm not gonna say the workout isn't totally awesome because it is! I loved the barre class especially when it was taught by Amber and Elana was GREAT! I am withdrawling from her tues and thurs classes as if pilates was my crack and Elana was my supplier BUT rockit body changed in the last month i was there. Sarah got fired who I loved! I don't understand why because she was so great! She had a passion for the workout and if you had any questions, concerns, or even if you just wanted to bitch to her about how fat and retarded you felt, she was there to listen and give great advice. Once she was gone the studio became very strict and i felt like you were treated like you owed them something for allowing you to come use their machines and PAY OVER 200 DOLLARS A MONTH on top of 25 dollar fees for missed classes! No exceptions for those missed classes btw!!! you could be on your death bed and they would still charge your card 25 bucks within 5 minutes of the class ending. If they made a mistake and owed you money back you can be sure your money wont be returned even half as fast as they take it. It was just kinda irritating towards the end so i had to say bye bye to rock my body out of money pilates. It is a great workout and it provides fast results but....greed is a big problem here.

I love Rock It Body Pilates!! I had stopped working out 3 yrs ago because I was bored with "traditional" workouts...I did everything in the past...yoga, running, weight training, etc. All of it seemed like it took so much time to maintain. BUT this pilates workout gives me everything I need in 40-50 minutes per session. I've only had 3 weeks of pilates but I've noticed a considerable change in my body already. I'm already building strength and muscles like no other exercise program I've ever done in the past. I can't believe how tight my ENTIRE ab section is getting either!! I don't do any other type of exercise except pilates and it is really amazing!
The instructors are great & friendly and the place is extremely clean. I highly recommend Rock It Body Pilates! -

I'm addicted! I've been taking classes for a year and it's completely transformed by body. I'm longer and leaner than I have ever been in my life. The instructors are amazing and really push you to push yourself. I really enjoy the Rockit Recess they recently started. It's a circuit training class that really kicks your butt. Definitely bring a towel! Judy, the owner, is amazing and is hands on. She even joined a class this week. I recommend Rockit Body to anyone looking to get in shape and have fun while doing it.

I am in my third month at Redondo Beach studio and I love the classes. All the instructors are great. I particular enjoy that there are a variety of classes not just SPX Reformer as in other similar studios. Rockit Barre is always fun and a blast. Rockit Recess which has just started is high intensity and great cardio. The class I never miss is the 5.00pm Stretch and Tone class on Fridays at 5.00pm. The title of the class may imply a low intensity and easy class. No Way. This class is a great workout and you are sore all over especially legs and abs. For me this class is a great end to a busy work week and the start of my weekend.
At an expensive $200 a month especially in these hard times and deep recession I do feel there should be a once a month get out of jail free pass for a no show to class because sometimes events happen that our out of ones control.
I noticed you increased the Intro Month to $159 - shame on you.
You have a great thing going and your greed is going to be your downfall.

The most amazing, fun, addictive, unique workout I've ever done. Love the studio (modern, clean, inspiring), instructors (incredible bodies, gorgeous faces, but sweet as pie so you can't hate any of them, even though you want to) and the music rocks. I've been going for 3 weeks and have better posture, stronger muscles, more definition...haven't measured but I'm sure I've lost inches all over. I can't recommend this place enough.

i adore this place. it's clean, the instructors are great, and the workouts are challenging. i like pilates reformer based classes, but i think the proformer provides for a more exciting/stimulating workout. i also love that everything from paying for packages & signing up for class is handled online. makes things so much easier that way. the only drawback is when you're starting out it can be hard to get into "beginner spx proformer" classes - the studio is just THAT popular. so be prepared to be thrown in with the wolves, so to speak, with the regular "spx proformer" class. you just sorta have to figure it out as you go along. past pilates reformer experience will help you out though. anyway, yay rockit body!

I love love love this new Pilates studio!!! I have done mat pilates for the last 5 years and never thought I would switch to these super high teq. machines. A friend of mine took a class and told me you can do one for free, just try it. She kept raving on how amazing this was. I have workout out for the last 20 years and have tried many different type of classes. But I am so happy I listened. I was sold in one class. I can say that I lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks of working out and my abs are finally showing up. First time in my life!!!! I have not looked this good since I was a teenager. The staff is super friendly the other people working out lovely as well. The studio is so beautiful classy clean... the music is good! Super easy to find and free parking and always spots open. I will never change workout place ever again. My life has changed for the better. Thank you girls for bringing a new type of Pilates to the South bay...
