Category: Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt [Edit]
Neighborhood: ClairemontI had a coupon for a free 5oz yogurt w/ a purchase of an 8oz small yogurt so I stopped by Linda Vista on my way to visit the blind grandmother. Upon entering, I was a little confused because there's just too much on the menu at that store! I was impressed at the variety of flavors and at the amount of yogurt that they fill the cups with. They seriously hook it up fat!!! Anywho, I settled for a small ghiradelli mocha, peanut butter, and lite vanilla and got the 5oz. chocolate covered cupcake (chocolate and vanilla cake batter swirl) for the blind grandmother. Prices were decent for the huge portions served. The only thing that annoyed me a little was the girl at the counter helping me out couldn't wait until after I paid her to answer her cell phone to talk to her mother... minus one star

just when i thought PARADISE YOGURT was the end all in the yogurt world - i get my nuts stomped on by YOGURT WORLD in mira mesa, and now ROCKIE'S in linda vista -
Rockies is like a mesh between the yogurt world and paradise yogurt - it has plenty of wow cow and no sugar added yogurts (traditional style) as well as some asian style tart flavors -
on this night my wifey got her wow cow peanut butter with oreo crunch toppings; and i got my half strawberry tart plus half mango tart with mochi topping - AWESOME -
since we live just 5 mins from here - this is our new joint - we love it!

yes, yes, i could go for some of this chilly treat right about now, esp with this heat wave we've been having lately. i've had their chocolate, raspberry, ghirardelli mocha, pistachio flavors, and my ultimate favorite: peanut butter!!! they can also make shakes, smoothies, etc. but i tend to stick to the fro yo. i don't doubt that the rest of their flavors are kick ass, but those are my preferences. i used to come here after work all the time last summer. and i'm sad to say that i haven't been back lately b.c i've been going to yogurt world.
i think it's time to change things up and go back to an oldie, but damn goodie!! when they ask if you want a cover, say no thanks! you get less with a cover, unless that's what you want. these geniuses can pile up some fro yo like no tomorrow! just learn how to drive and eat at the same time!!!

Attention all new trendy yogurt shops, take out your pen and paper and take some notes. This is how a yogurt shop should look. Stop with the minimalist decor and focus on the product. Rockie's knows how to do it. Skip all the "Pinkberry" knockoffs and head to the original.

Yes Rockies is great but No- that picture in not of the real Rockies
oh well still very very very very very yummy!
O.M.G
I walked in today and was like SHOCKED. THEY have the most extensive menu that i have ever seen. It ranges from like sundaes to smoothies to yogurt to everything!
Of course, I got the yogurt- they have so many different flavors including wow cow AND tart flavors. Toppings--so many toppings! Also, i got the child size because I bought a viet sandwich and a waffle from the K sandwiches nearby, and to my amazement, it was a LOT OF YOGURT!!! NO JOKE. Like seriously, omg i was like damn, how the hecka am i going to finish this!? Being a faithful yogurt eater, I was determined to finish it even when I'm as full as heck. HAHA, I decided to be experimental and put yogurt between my waffles and ate it like that. IT WAS SO GOOD. I'm going to come back here asap and get my own creation of Ksandwiches' waffles and rookie's yogurt again. so yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy!
DA BOMB!
Look no further, this is the place to get your yogurt fix!!!
You just don't get any better value for you $$$. They don't charge you a rdiculous cents per pound here. The yogurt is 'LICIOUS the menu variety is exceptional. I take eveyone I know to this place and then I become their new best friend. Ohhh, and don't forget that they let you mix up to four flavors per order/cup. Yum!
Tip: You can also find a free small yougurt coupon in The Reader on Thursdays.
My family and I love Rockies! There is so much to choose from-root beer floats, sundaes, shakes, cones, etc...It's true, they are very generous with the portions and they are very nice. A great place to treat yourself.
It's amazing how a mountain of frozen yogurt can be cheaper than a tiny round scoop of ice cream. I actually prefer soft serve myself.
There so much going on in this place - smoothies, coffee blends, yogurt, toppings galore! I settled on Ghiradelli Mocha Chip - tasted like chocolate, but I'm not complaining.
I refused the tiny kids size and went for a junior but my eyes bugged out as the clerk kept swirling and swirling fro-yo. So much! Crazy!
Tart Key Lime Pie- Nay
Vanilla Cake Batter- Okaaay, but not really what I'm looking for.
Raspberry Tart- Ding Ding Ding!
Yes, I enjoyed the Raspberry quite rightly. Nothing amazingly orgasmically good, but tasty and a nice counter-agent to stifling car heat (I don't like using A/C, so I gotta cool off somehow). Portions are generous, prices are reasonable.
Rockie's has a wider-than-usual selection of frozen yogurt (9 flavors maybe?). It also offers coffee drinks, shakes, and a bunch of random other stuff I could barely follow on their frantically scrawled chalkboards. Not that it even matters--- I can get a latte anywhere, but good frozen yogurt, like a pain of comfy jeans, like a good pair of scissors, and yes, like a good lover, is hard to find.

THIS PLACE IS YUMMY! I love the Reese's and MudPie Frozen Yogurt. The serving size is HUGE and the prices are reasonable.

I love Frozen Yogurt and I LOVE ROCKIES! This is what you do: get a friend who loves fro-yo as much as you, get the current SD reader and flip to the coupon section in the middle, go to the last page, on the lower left hand side (it's sad that i know this) and clip the coupon for Rockies, then drive on over (or walk to burn off those calories so you can make room for the deliciousness) and the person with the small stomach can get a junior sized and you can get a small for $3.25! (Be advised you mix-in fanatics; toppings cost extra.)
I know what you're thinking, "I'm not a freakin' kid Melanie, I need more fro-yo than a junior or small sized cup can hold" and to that I will say "Hold your tongue!" The ladies at Rockie's fill your cups till they runneth over and then some. Just look at the cups and imagine twice that coming your way. The largest size that I've ever been able to eat is a small, and then I am all groggy from eating too much.
I have tried almost every flavor, and they change them often, getting specials every few months. The only gripe I have is that they only have two sugar-free flavors: chocolate and vanilla (but they are great). They also have sugar-free toppings and fresh fruit. I have not tried the smoothies or anything from the coffee bar, but they look delicious.
You need to go here. The ladies at Rockies will take good care of you.
P.S. Take cash because if you use a card they charge you .50.

I really love this place! How do they make the vanilla frozen yogurt taste sooo good? I need to taste the other flavors, but I love the vanilla sooo much that I haven't been able to try anything else.
Wait, I've had samples of the following flavors:
Chocolate - [EXCELLENT]
Pistachio - tastes like the pistachio you get from spumoni [GOOD]
Vanilla cake batter - has a slight lemon flavor to it, which I didn't like as much as the regular vanilla [GOOD]
Prices are cheap for all the fro-yo you get.
I've heard they have sugar-free & wow cow (non-fat or low calorie) fro-yo, but I haven't tried them yet - or have I? You can go there and ask.
Portions are generous, especially if you order more than one flavor in one dish.
Service is great since the ladies who work there are really nice. They always have a smile & are ready to please.

I think I like Rockie's better than Yogurt World simply because I like their flavors more, and you don't have to wait in line for ten years. Plus, you don't feel the need to overindulge in a bunch of caloric toppings because its not self-serve. Rockie's has alot of interesting flavors. Some of my faves---vanilla cake batter, mud pie, chocolate mint, peanut butter, pistachio, strawberry shortcake, and Reese's Pieces. Plus, they are always rotating in new flavors. I second the suggestion about getting a small size because they will pile it up to the sky-- I usually stick with the junior.

Oh dear, it appears that I just made a meal out of fro-yo. Hmm...
However, I must say that Rockie's is ever-so-delicious. Smooth, creamy, and just sweet enough to not send you into a sugar coma upon contact.
Lots of flavors, many of which are always available. But sometimes they rotate out a few staples to make room for temporaries like Pumpkin etc.
Personal recommendation: Unless you KNOW you have a bottomless pit when it comes to yogurt (like me...), start out with either the Child's size or the Junior's. These ladies aren't kidding when they say they "super-size." I think most of them pretty much cram as much yogurt into the cup as humanly possible, except for one lady (she looks like the manager or something), who skimps. Try to get one of the other employees instead.

Warning: their stuff is addictive! Seriously though. I started eating Wow Cow in LA, and I almost can't tolerate traveling anywhere where it's not sold because I need it every day. And I do mean need.
That said -- Wow Cow is this incredibly light, creamy, sweet, non-dairy (actually, non-anything-that-exists-in-nature) frozen treat concocted by chemists somewhere, each of whom has earned himself a lifetime's worth of blow&*!s. It's 10 calories an ounce and non-fat, which means I can (and do) order a gargantuan-size cup of the stuff on the daily.
My one complaint: see above. Like a drug, this stuff is addictive and pretty expensive. Also (ok, so two) - Rockie's NEVER shakes up its sugar-free options. Great if you like Chocolate Light (always icy) or Vanilla Light (tastes like the chemicals of which it's comprised). Sucky if you're normal.

Very good if not a bit pricey. Great selection of flavors and all of the sugar-free versions I've tried are surprisingly good.
A bit of advice: They really tend to pile it up so any size larger than a small might leave you feeling... uncomfortable. (I speak from experience)

I go to Rockie's all the time. Whenever I go here, their yogurt is always good, even their sugar-free flavors. Always sweet and creamy. They always have a large variety of flavors, which makes it so hard to choose. They definetely pile up the yogurt in their cups, so it's good to be aware of that ahead of time. My only problem is that whenever I go there, the same worker always serves me and occasionally when she would fill my cup, the yogurt would be piled messy at the edge of the cup almost spilling out. Otherwise though, this place is recommended.
