Small, dated space. Fresh seafood. Great seaweed salad. Tuna Dragon was delicious.

Owner a Bit Odd, But Nice
Rock Fuji Japanese Sushi is another in a long list of pretend Japanese sushi joints. The fish is good and fresh the service is awkward in this corner storefront. I can tell when all these goofy & gimmicky rolls are on the menu that this place is not authentic. The highlight here for me was the chiriashi, well portioned with a great selection of fish.
Alright in a pinch -

Great, always fresh sushi and a reasonable lunch special. Chefs and wait staff are all super friendly. Try the spicy tuna roll (better than almost any I've ever had, because it's actually spicy!) and the crunchy, spicy spider roll. Both are FANTASTIC.
Tip - go for lunch, and substitute the California roll for a spicy tuna. Costs between 50 cents and a dollar, but is well worth and and still a great deal.
Too bad I've moved away from Rock Fuji and can only go every once in a while! -

A much better option than Tani.

Miso - very good
Salad - great ginger dressing
Edamame - terrible; either going bad or frozen
Shrimp and vegetable tempura - $6.50 for three pieces of shrimp, an onion, a piece of zucchini, and a green bean. Pretty skimpy, but cheaper than I've seen around the area.
Beef teriyaki - the only truly good dish we had. Tender beef and great teriyaki sauce.
Shrimp tempura roll - shrimp was no longer warm and barely crunchy.
Tokyo roll - the inside was totally mushy and the fish was mushy and bland.
Eel sushi - totally mushy; no chewiness or slight crunch from grilling that I prefer. -

This is a great, clean, no bs place. The food is fun, creative and super fresh....the owners are sweethearts.

Yes, I said five stars! The owner Joseph and his wife are the most welcoming restaurant owners in all of Glen Rock. The fish is always fresh, the specials are fun and creative and it's not over priced like the sushi places in Ridgewood!
My favorites include the Tuna and Mango Salad with a spicy dressing, tempura flakes, and big pieces of fresh tuna. Try the Tropical Roll with fresh mango, OMG it's sooo good. (Did I really just write OMG? oh well...) The sweet potato roll is also excellent, simple deep fried sweet potato and not super filling. The spicy tuna roll is always my favorite and Joseph is more than happy to make it extra spicy, if you ask! The specials change often, but try the Yankee Roll. A couple of different fish (I believe Tuna and Salmon) and the whole roll is deep fried, so it's perfect for the friend that's scared of raw fish!
Really though, it's just a pleasure to eat here. The whole staff is friendly and Joseph the owner knew my boyfriend and I's names by the second or third time we came in. I love frequenting this local establishment.
And if you are pressed for time and on your way back from the city, call it in and you can pick it up right off the train, because it's located right next to the Glen Rock Main Line! Awesome!! -

The fish is fresh and top quality and the owner is very nice. He always remembers us, and if i walk in without my daughter he always ask about her, and how she's doing. The food is not over priced - pretty average as far as sushi prices go. The only reason they got 4 stars instead of 5 is because they charge extra for soup and salad, no matter how much sushi you order. I always thought soup and salad came the meal, especially if you are buying $40 worth of take out.

Yes, 4-stars... not because this is the near-greatest sushi in the world (although it is very good... way above the local competition), but because this is my local joint. The place where everybody knows your name AND the food is top quality -- good prices -- great value!

We order at least twice a month and find that the food is consistently good and excellent quality. Sushi favorites include salmon rolls and shrimp tempura rolls. As far as non-sushi, we like the salmon and chicken terriyakis. Appetizers, we highly recommend the steamed veggie dumplings. The owner, Joe, is a great guy too--kind of like "cheers"--everytime I place an order he knows my name :).
